The Dreamliner Story: A Timeline
2019: As Rich Thomson was starting Caprice Capital, he learned about a niche industry that provided critical transportation to the music tours. Although there was no immediate opportunity at the time, he really liked what he saw and started looking deeper into the industry. Rich kept an eye out and continued to explore how to reach this niche market.
October 2020: At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, with music touring at a standstill, Rich had an opportunity to purchase 12 touring buses — 10 custom-built entertainer coaches and two Prevost shells not yet outfitted. With no certainty if or when touring would commence again, Rich liked the industry enough that he took this opportunity to purchase these coaches and knew he would figure it out.
January 2021: After a few months of owning these buses and the Coachella festival at a standstill, Rich was still planning for the comeback of music touring. An industry veteran introduced Rich to Jeremy Maul, who had previously worked for other tour bus operators, but decided to leave the touring industry during the pandemic. While Jeremy was hesitant to partner with someone who previously hadn’t been immersed in the industry, he believed in Rich’s passion, ideas, and quickly cemented their partnership. Dreamliner Coaches was born.
August 2021 : Dreamliner embarks on its first tour post COVID with tour director David Licursi and The Jonas Brothers.
June 2022: Dreamliner more than doubles its fleet with the acquisition of Diamond Coach Leasing from the company’s longtime owner and entrepreneur, Kylee Ervin. The purchase expands Dreamliner’s abilities to serve the country-music industry and establishes Dreamliner’s new headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee.
July 2022: Dreamliner opens new Fontana facility to service coaches while on West Coast.
November 2023: Dreamliner purchases Hemphill Brothers Coach Company, an acquisition that almost triples the number of entertainer coaches in the company’s fleet. With nearly 200 coaches and the ability to service more than 50 percent of the larger arena stadium tours in the U.S., Dreamliner is now the largest provider of entertainer coaches in the world. Today the company provides upscale entertainer coaches for the hottest names in entertainment, from The Weeknd, Beyoncé, Morgan Wallen, Zach Bryan, Tool, Drake, SZA, Olivia Rodrigo, and more. Dreamliner also provides executive coaches for group meetings and executive trips for Fortune 500 companies that include NASCAR, the National Football League, National Basketball Association and the Professional Golfers’ Association of America.
Rich Thomson
Chairman and Co-Founder
Dreamliner Coaches
Rich grew up in Chico, CA helping his parents with their family-owned frozen yogurt shoppes. After high school, Rich moved to the Bay Area to play tennis and graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from Saint Mary’s College. It was there that he found his interest in analyzing numbers and businesses.
Prior to founding Dreamliner, Rich founded Caprice Capital Partners, a private credit fund that focuses on lending money to founder, family and entrepreneur-owned companies. Caprice is located in Manhattan Beach, CA and has successfully invested in 30+ companies and invested $700+ million since inception. Prior to founding Caprice, Rich opened a West Coast office for Brightwood Capital, a $3B+ direct lending fund. Rich’s experience in lending and investing includes time at Citibank and GE Capital where he was recognized for various achievements across both organizations. It was this experience that led him to recognize a unique market and industry worth exploring.
Rich is heavily involved as Vice Chair at St Jude and actively sits on various boards. Rich resides in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife, Erika and their two daughters, Elle, Charlie and son, Richie.
Jeremy Maul
CEO and Partner
With more than 20 years of experience in the transportation industry, marketing and new-business development, Jeremy is uniquely qualified to build and create Dreamliner’s best-in-class standards and set it on a path for significant growth.
Jeremy’s interest in the business started when he was just a kid. His father owned a large transportation company, which allowed Jeremy a behind-the-scenes look at semi-trucks and heavy equipment from an early age. He learned the importance of preventive maintenance, logistics and contract negotiations with the unions during his late teens and early 20’s.
Prior to Dreamliner, Jeremy excelled in the real estate industry for nearly 10 years where he slowly acquired over 90+ rental properties in South Florida. After returning to the transportation industry, Jeremy worked with Kylee Ervin of Diamond Coaches where he solidified himself as trusted operator in the luxury coach and touring industry.
Thanks to that fateful meeting in 2020, Jeremy is now a CEO of the largest entertainer-coach company in the world. Jeremy manages all aspects of the business including managing relationships with all clients, leasing, the maintenance and mechanics of the shop, the body shop and construction of new custom builds at both Nashville facilities and Fontana, CA.
Jeremy currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife Jessica, their daughter Annabelle, and their dogs Lola and Sophia.
The Dreamliner Team
We are immensely proud of the 380 members of the Dreamliner team, each of whom is committed to our goal of providing a best-in-class travel experience, from providing tour quotes to designing custom coaches, servicing coaches to ensure they’re the best vehicles on the road, and outfitting each coach with the luxury-driven details today’s leading music artists have come to expect.
With each new acquisition, Rich and Jeremy have understood that they haven’t been acquiring coaches only; they’ve been acquiring new members of the Dreamliner family, employees with years of industry experience and a shared passion for providing the best in tour travel.

Boeing Directs Airlines to Check Cockpit Seats on 787s After Latam Incident
The sudden plunge of a Latam Airlines 787 Dreamliner this week might have been caused by a flight attendant hitting a switch on a cockpit seat.
By Santul Nerkar and Sydney Ember
Boeing has told airlines to check the cockpit seats of its 787 Dreamliner plane, the company said on Friday, after a Latam Airlines plane suddenly plunged on a flight to Auckland, New Zealand , on Monday, injuring passengers.
The drop in altitude appears to have been caused when a flight attendant hit a switch on a seat that sent a pilot into the plane’s controls, The Wall Street Journal reported this week, citing unnamed U.S. industry officials. Aviation regulators are investigating the incident and have not released any findings.
In a statement, Boeing said it had reminded airlines of a safety memo from 2017 that instructed them on how to inspect and maintain switches on flight deck seats.
“The investigation of Flight LA800 is ongoing and we defer to the investigation authorities on any potential findings,” the company said. “We are recommending operators perform an inspection at the next maintenance opportunity,” it added.
The Latam plane’s harrowing drop was documented in video footage captured by passengers. The plane fell abruptly and then quickly recovered, one passenger, Brian Jokat, said, likening it to “coming over the top of a roller coaster and heading down.”
The drop left at least one passenger in critical condition; 11 other people were also transported to hospitals in Auckland after the plane landed there. All told, dozens of passengers suffered injuries, most of them minor.
Regulators, airlines and travelers have been intensely focused on the quality and safety of Boeing planes since a panel sheared off an Alaska Airlines 737 Max 9 plane on Jan. 5, forcing an emergency landing. In 2018 and 2019, two 737 Max 8 planes crashed in Indonesia and Ethiopia, killing nearly 350 people.
In a message to 787 jet operators that was sent late Thursday, Boeing said it was advising of a “known condition related to a loose/detached rocker switch cap” located on the seat back of the captain’s and first officer’s seats but did not say whether the switch covers had played a role in the incident on the Latam plane.
“Closing the spring-loaded seat back switch guard onto a loose/detached rocker switch cap can potentially jam the rocker switch, resulting in unintended seat movement,” Boeing said.
The memo, a copy of which was reviewed by The New York Times, pointed to the 2017 letter, which noted the installation of adhesive to the rocker switch caps “to prevent the caps on the rocker switches from detaching and/or becoming loose.”
Boeing recommended all operators of 787 planes to inspect the four rocker switches and rocker switch caps on the seats.
The Wall Street Journal first reported that Boeing had sent the memo to airlines.
In a note to its 787 flight crews, American Airlines said it had “identified a potential hazard” with the horizontal power control switches on the top back of pilot seats.
The note, which was reviewed by The Times, said that the airline’s technology operations team “will be ensuring that these switches are properly secured” and asked 787 captains “to brief all pilots, flight attendants and flightdeck jumpseat riders on your flight of the importance of not using the switch on the top back of the pilot seat when the seat is occupied.”
The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement on Friday that it would assemble a panel of experts to review Boeing’s messages to airlines about the switch, including the 2017 memo, and provide feedback to the company. “The agency will continue to monitor the situation closely,” it said.
The 787 Dreamliner, a two-aisle jet, is one of Boeing’s most important planes. Its three models can carry 248 to 336 passengers, according to Boeing, and is used by airlines on international and transcontinental flights.
Latam’s plane was flying from Sydney, Australia, to Auckland and was scheduled to carry on to Santiago in Chile, where the airline is based. The company said in a statement on Friday that it was working with investigators.
Mark Walker contributed reporting.

Boeing: A Company in Turmoil
Boeing is weathering a particularly difficult period: two fatal crashes, a loose panel that blew out during a flight, quality concerns and production slowdowns..
United’s Planes : An engine fire sparked by plastic packaging wrap, a tire lost shortly after takeoff and a plane veering off the runway: These are among several incidents that have occurred over two weeks on Boeing flights operated by United Airlines.
Alaska Airlines Flight 1282: After a section of a plane headed for Ontario, Calif., blew out 10 minutes after it took off , there was increased scrutiny on the plane’s manufacturer: Boeing . The Justice Department has since launched a criminal investigation .
Quality Control Issues: An audit that was initiated by the Federal Aviation Administration after the Alaska Airlines incident found dozens of problems throughout Boeing’s manufacturing process and one of its key suppliers.
Whistleblower’s Death: John Barnett, a former quality manager for the company, was found dead in Charleston in March with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was set to testify in a lawsuit in which he accused Boeing of retaliation for his complaints about quality and safety.
At Fault: A report released in February by the Federal Aviation Administration said that Boeing’s safety culture remains flawed , despite improvements made after two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019.
Solving an Enduring Crisis: The Federal Aviation Administration has asked Boeing to produce an action plan to address quality control issues. We asked experts how Boeing should try and fix its longstanding problems .
Ames native Tamin Lipsey living a childhood dream leading Iowa State basketball
KANSAS CITY – Before Tamin Lipsey was a Cyclone, he was a Cyclone.
Not just a Little Cyclone like he was at Ames High School, which he led to a state championship in 2022, but a diehard in cardinal and gold, living and breathing Iowa State basketball.
“When they’ve won games, he’s celebrated,” Rob Lipsey said of his son’s younger years. “And when they’ve lost, he’s cried.”
That joy and those tears often came when watching Iowa State in the Big 12 Tournament, which perhaps as much as anything was the symbol of the Cyclones’ success under coaches Fred Hoiberg and Steve Prohm. The Cyclones set program records for NCAA Tournament appearances while going to Sweet 16s during that time, but the four Big 12 tourney titles the Cyclones collected between 2014 and 2019 stand apart for the consistency and pageantry of Iowa State’s success.
That first title from that stretch came when Lipsey was a preteen. The last came when he had become a high-level college prospect.
IT'S BRACKET MADNESS: Enter USA TODAY's basketball tournament bracket contests for a chance at $1 million prize.
The latest Iowa State Big 12 Tournament title came with Lipsey as the Cyclones’ point guard.
More: Iowa State basketball wins Big 12 Tournament championship by throttling No. 1 Houston
“I have experience as a fan,” Lipsey said moments after the buzzer sounded on Iowa State’s 69-41 thumping of top-ranked Houston in the title game Saturday night, “but as a player it’s so much better. Seeing all these people here supporting us, just having a great time.
“Obviously, I’ve seen past Cyclone teams do it. It’s just so much fun to spend it with these guys and the coaches and enjoy the moment.”
Lipsey spent much of his youth dreaming of wearing the Iowa State jersey, and now he’s not only donning it, he’s elevating it.
He was an every-game starter on an NCAA Tournament team as a freshman. Now, as a sophomore, he is a first-team all-Big 12 selection, a Big 12 Tournament champion and perhaps the most important player for a team capable of reaching the Final Four.
“It’s surreal,” his mother, Holly Lipsey, said. “A wonderful season. It’s amazing. They’ve all worked so hard and worked well together.
“Surreal.”
More: Why Tamin Lipsey proved to be the perfect fit at the perfect time for Iowa State
Lipsey is averaging 12.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.8 steals per game as one of the nation’s best two-way guards.
“He’s always going to give everything he has every game,” Iowa State freshman Milan Momcilovic said. “He’s one of the best guards in the country, if not the best.
“He’s going to give it both on the offensive and defensive side.”
It’s the realization of a dream long in the making.
“I remember Tamin, I want to say elementary age,” Ames High coach Vance Downs said, “there was talk of this young man’s goal was to play at a high level at college and potentially go to the NBA.
“To see him grow up and work so hard and have pieces of that fall into place for him has just been a thrill for us.”
More: How a small detail makes a big impression for Iowa State basketball
The thrill may just be beginning.
The Cyclones begin the NCAA Tournament on Thursday against South Dakota State (6:35 p.m.; truTV) with their highest seed in two decades and playing their first- and second-round games in nearby Omaha. Iowa State finished second in the Big 12, the country’s best conference, and bulldozed its way through the conference tournament.
The potential for the best NCAA Tournament run in a generation – or perhaps ever – is clearly present. Iowa State's lone Final Four appearance came in 1944. The Cyclones' only other Elite Eight season was 1999-2000.
“The ceiling,” Lipsey said, “is the best team in the country. Our goal is the national championship.”
No longer living for the Cyclones from the stands or through the TV, Lipsey is right at the center of everything the Cyclones have and can still achieve.
“For him, this is a moment he can cry and celebrate at the same time,” Rob Lipsey said not long after confetti fell Saturday at the T-Mobile Center. “Cry for joy, and celebrate. We’re proud to see it for him and take this journey with him.
“We’re just happy for the Cyclone family.”
A family of which their son has always been a member. Even before he was.

Zakai Zeigler, Armoni Zeigler March Madness brothers matchup started on Long Island hoop
CHARLOTTE, N.C. − Charmane Zeigler woke up late and Zakai Zeigler was nowhere in the house.
It wasn’t hard to find him. She heard the bouncing ball and located her 10-year-old son in front of the house.
Zakai was practicing free throws on his prized hoop while he waited for the bus to pick him up. The net dangled toward the ground, hanging by a thread from the rim after countless shots from Zakai and his half-brother, Armoni, tore through it. Stones and bricks held the hoop in place, the water weight container cracked and useless.
Charmane exhaled, but she should have known. The brothers were often found by the basketball hoop.
“I watched these little boys when this was their dream,” Charmane said. “Anybody that knows them back home will pretty much tell you if you saw Zakai or saw them together, they had a ball with them.”
IT'S BRACKET MADNESS: Enter USA TODAY's NCAA tournament bracket contest for a chance at $1 million prize.
The Zeigler brothers are a long way from that wrecked hoop in Long Island. They’re geared up to face off in the NCAA Tournament with Zakai starring for No. 2 seed Tennessee basketball (24-8) against Armoni and No. 15-seeded Saint Peter's (19-13) on Thursday (9:20 p.m., TNT).
It's a dream come true for the brothers and it started on the end of that street in Brentwood, New York.
Zakai Zeigler, Armoni Zeigler grew up playing basketball together
Zakai and Armoni always asked. Every Christmas, every birthday, every day. They wanted an in-ground basketball hoop.
They got a portable hoop when Zakai was 8 years old and Armoni was 6. Charmane spotted the hoop on discount at Walmart across from her job at Rubin and Rothman Law in Hauppauge. It didn’t fit in her Chrysler Sebring. She convinced someone with a truck to drive it to their house and the boys’ lives flipped.
“Just to be able to go outside and play and not to have to run the park or go look around … that was big for us,” Zakai said.
Zakai and Armoni are half-brothers by birth. They share a father and a last name — and the belief that half-brother is a label not a reality.
“We don’t do the half-brother thing,” said Ryan O’Malley, Armoni’s stepfather. "They are brothers. They look at themselves as brothers. There’s no half-brother about it.”
They were raised together and around each other, always welcome at each other’s places. They often were at Charmane’s when they were young. They were thick as thieves and welded together. The home was full of laughter. Zakai was the leader, the older brother and a mature presence even as a child. Armoni was the playful one of the two.
Armoni always wanted to be like Zakai. If Zakai had a No. 16 jersey, Armoni wanted one. If Zakai had a blue bike, Charmane would get a call from Armoni’s mom, Tia, asking where to get a blue bike for Armoni. They both wear No. 5, their favorite number since they were kids.
"He means everything," Armoni said. "That is my brother. That is my heart. That is my world.”
Charmane once sent Zakai to timeout for a half-hour in his room. Armoni went with him
“I’m like the purpose of this was to separate you two, but OK,” Charmane said.
Basketball was the superglue for the two. They would shoot for hours anywhere they could. Charmane would call them to come in for dinner. They never came in on the first call and they’d sneak back out to play more after dinner — if they came in at all.
“She couldn’t drag us inside,” Zakai said.
How the Zeigler brothers found ways to play during 2020
Naturally, there was a hoop in front of Armoni’s house to mirror the setup at Zakai’s. But that hoop lacked a backboard, a causality of dunks and general destruction.
“They would be out there for hours on the hoop with no backboard playing on it,” O’Malley said. “It looked like someone punched it off the back or ripped it off.”
Zakai stayed with Armoni's family for a couple of months during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. He was welcomed with open arms, matching Armoni's experience years prior and calling Tia "another mom to me." They couldn't order new parts for the backboard with the world shutting down and so began the search for a place to play.
They snuck into gyms when they could. They went to nearby Bolden Mack Park often as the rims hadn’t been taken down. The blue-and-red court had eight rims and plenty of space to play with the world shutting down. O’Malley brought cones for drills. They played for hours every day.
Then one day a woman told them to go home because of the pandemic and the next day the rims were gone.
Zakai knew of another spot, a secluded court behind Brennan Middle School in North Babylon. His cousins lived down the street from the school and used it to settle arguments over who was better growing up. The court was a well-kept secret — an if-you-know-you-know setting that bred games as big as 5-on-5.
“It was like a rim, no nets,” Zakai said. “Just concrete and hoops.”
The brothers played there until they eventually found an indoor place to play at a school in the Bronx. They were always together once again, bonded as brothers in basketball pursuing their dreams.
The dream matchup between Tennessee basketball and St. Peter's
The inseparable brothers played together plenty of times growing up — in the road, at the park, on teams in tournaments. They haven’t played against each other, which injected intrigue into the buildup to Sunday.
Tennessee was lined up to be a No. 2 seed after being the SEC regular-season champions. Saint Peter’s grabbed a bid by winning the MAAC title game, putting it position to be a No. 15 seed.
Then it happened. The Vols were announced, the Peacocks were named as the opponent, and Zakai called Armoni immediately.
JOURNEY: Trains, sacrifices and a last chance: Zakai Zeigler's journey to Tennessee basketball
“I hate that I got to whoop you like this, but it is crazy we get to play against each other,” Zakai told his brother.
Armoni had a rebuttal: "For 40 minutes, we are not cool.”
This is how it goes and always has gone with Zakai and Armoni. Zakai is convinced Armoni will never admit how good Zakai is at basketball. That is the case if Zakai is in the room. Armoni would be quick to defend his brother in any room he is not in. Armoni declared he leads their one-on-one series, then confessed he is behind. Zakai claims he has never lost to Armoni in any setting.
The brothers are different. Zakai is a 5-foot-9 junior defensive superstar with a sweet 3-point shot. Armoni is a 6-foot-5 freaky freshman athlete who had a viral dunk this season. He idolized Ja Morant growing up and Zakai used to throw lobs to Armoni to practice dunking.
Zakai said Armoni can basically fly. That is all he was willing to give his younger brother.
“He is 6-5,” Zakai said. “That is what he does better than me.”
The days since the game was announced have been hectic. The Vols know Armoni because he came on Zakai's official visit in 2021 and spent a week in Knoxville last summer. Family group chats are buzzing and texts are relentless. There was talk of a renting a party bus to bring as many people from Long Island to Charlotte as possible. It’s the talk of Amityville, O’Malley said. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime moment beyond any script could compile.
They’re two boys from Long Island playing against each other on the biggest stage in college basketball. They’re the two boys who used to shoot for hours on the street dreaming of this moment.
They’re brothers.
“That is my boy,” Zakai said. "That is my brother."

‘Fancy cars and flashy yachts’: criminals living the high life targeted by Victoria’s unexplained wealth laws
Police minister says those who ‘swan around with ill-gotten gains’ will be pursued in reforms that flip onus of proof

Organised crime figures who splash out on yachts, penthouse suites and sex workers will be targeted by the Victorian government, under new laws that will force them to repay any wealth they cannot prove was lawfully acquired.
The state’s attorney general, Jaclyn Symes, and police minister, Anthony Carbines, on Tuesday announced they will introduce the Confiscation Amendment (Unexplained Wealth) Bill to parliament, in an effort to deprive criminals of the “use and enjoyment of their unexplained wealth”.
Symes said the new laws would flip the onus from police and prosecutors – who currently have to prove a direct link between a criminal and their wealth – to the offender.

“The barrier has been is that we’ve had to demonstrate that [wealth] is connected to criminal activity. The onus now will be flipped under this legislation, you will have to demonstrate that you obtained it by legal means,” she said.
“It’s very likely unless they won Tattslotto and they can show their winning ticket. They probably were doing illegal activities to obtain their wealth.”
Carbines said the changes will also capture assets bought in a partner or relative’s name as well as gifts, “consumable wealth and wealth that has been gifted, disposed of or expended”.
“If you want to swan around with ill-gotten gains and wealth that doesn’t belong to you, that you’ve accrued illegally, police will be able to pursue you. They’ll be able to pursue your family and your partners,” he said.
“If organised crime bosses think that they can have the fancy cars, flashy yachts, spend their money on hotels and strippers, if you draw your attention to yourself, Victoria police will be after you.
“They will be able to use these laws to crack out and reclaim the stolen wealth that ill gotten gains, and it’s about continuing to make sure we put the pressure on organised crime.”
The new laws will allow the Director of Public Prosecutions to apply to a court for an order if there are reasonable grounds to suspect that a person’s total wealth exceeds their lawfully acquired wealth by at least $200,000.
If a person can’t satisfy a court that they have lawfully obtained their wealth, a court may order them to pay the state the value of anything they cannot prove was lawfully acquired.
The laws have been modelled on those currently in place in Western Australian, but are also similar to New South Wales’ laws, which were also bolstered in 2023 to allow police to seize and freeze wealth and assets without a specific offence.
The opposition leader, John Pesutto, questioned why it had taken so long for the government to introduce the legislation, though he said he supported the concept in principal.
“Frankly, after 10 years, you have to ask, what is it actually doing to crack down on organised crime?” he said.
