Lil Yachty braids are as unique and individualistic as the rapper himself. Since the day he arrived on the hip-hop scene with songs like âOne Nightâ, âMinnesotaâ, and âBroccoliâ, people have been impressed with his braids.
After achieving mainstream popularity, he has not gone for any style other than braids. Just think about him and you would find that you canât imagine Lil Yachty without braids.
Even with his braids, he has not experimented too many times. However, there are a couple of braids styles that he has tried out.

Lil Yachty Red Braids
Red braids with beads, lil yachty black braids, braids with bandana, french braids, braided pigtails, tied beads on the sides, loose top knot, multi-colored beads, frequently asked questions, final words, 9 exciting lil yachty braids styles you should try.
We have picked and compiled 9 of the most stunning braids styles of Lil Yachty for you. Go through this list to find out which style you vibe with the most.
Red braids have been the signature Lil Yachty hairstyle throughout his career. Even before he became a rapper or even had braids, he used to dye his hair red as a young man.
This red color has been a constant companion in his journey. Maybe thatâs why for a long period of time we havenât seen him with any other hair color. However, if I were you, I wouldnât necessarily dye my hair red and would choose another color thatâs more meaningful to me.
As for braiding your hair, you can go for simple box braids. Iâd also recommend the two strand twist or three strand twist styles if your hair is still too short for braids.
This one is the Lil Yachty braids style. Without a doubt, this is his most widely recognized hairstyle. Itâs probably the one Lil Yachty hairstyle you were aware of even before you started reading this article.
You should dye your hair before you start braiding if you want to keep it colored for a long time. If itâs a short-term commitment, then you can first braid your hair and then use a temporary hair color spray.
Lil Yachty also keeps his braids thin and has a good number of them. So, you have to divide your hair into many sections. When you are done braiding all the sections, you can attach the beads. Lil Yachty usually prefers transparent beads.
The Lil Yachty black braids style surprised a lot of people when he first appeared with it. They were just shocked that he had finally ditched the red color and went with his natural hair color.
He again surprised his fans when he attached diamond beads to his black braids. I am very much aware that itâs not a viable option for most people. You can just attach white beads if you want as that would create a cool contrast.
Lil Yachty also went for thicker braids this time. They were lesser in number as well. So, you wonât have to create that many sections for this one.
Lil Yachty seems to be a huge fan of bandanas. Back when he had red braids and even now, he seems to wear a bandana pretty frequently. It actually makes sense because wearing a bandana is one of the easiest ways of making your braids more striking.
There are two ways he styles his braids with a bandana. One is when he wears it just over his braids. Then, the braids come out from underneath the bandana.
The other style is when he wears it higher and lets a couple of his braids stick out from the top of the bandana. He has tried beads with both of these styles as well.
If you are looking for Lil Yachty without braids, this style is the closest thing you will find. This is unlike any other Lil Yachty braids styles and he pulls it off really well.
To get this style, you only need to have two long braids. First, you have to create a partition straight down the middle. Then, you need two braids at the front. Both braids will start from the partition, go sideways, go halfway around your head and then fall at the back.
I would also keep my front hairline tidy and crisp for this style. The rest of that hair thatâs not braided should be slick and close to the scalp.
This is a unique Lil Yachty hairstyle that he has come up with just by tying up his braids in a certain way. I canât be entirely sure if he intentionally wanted to create a pigtail-inspired style. But, the style certainly looks like that.
You have to create a middle partition for this style as well. Then, you have to take all the braids from one side and tie them up on that side of your head. Do the same for the other side as well.
There will be a couple of loose braids at the front and the back of your head. Also, this style works better with beads because then it has more texture and character.
You have to attach beads to your braids for this style. Beads are necessary to create this distinct look. Also, make sure that there are 4-5 beads for each braid.
You have to create a middle partition to begin. Then, you have to create scalp braids that go sideways. Just like French braids, these braids will go from the partition to the opposite side of your head.
Finally, you have to take all your braids from one side and tie them together, kind of like the pigtail style. But, you have to tie them in a way so that only the beads are dangling from both sides.
This Lil Yachty braids style is really easy to get. Despite being a simple style, it actually is quite impactful and can give you an attractive look.
It is basically a top knot style where you take all of your hair and tie them right at the top of your head. But, you would not tie all your braids for this style.
Few braids need to be free. Lil Yachty styles it in a way that there are loose braids on the sides and the back. If you want, you can let a few of them fall from the front to your forehead.
This is the last Lil Yachty braids style on my list. This one includes beads as well. For this style, itâs better if you have thin braids and there are a lot of them.
The more braids you have, the better you will look. Also, the braids need to be longer. At the end of each braid, you will attach multiple beads and they will be of different colors.
You can just create a middle partition and let these colorful beads hang down from both sides. Feel free to choose any color you want.
We have already mentioned how popular Lil Yachty braids are. So, itâs not a surprise that there are tons of questions that are frequently asked about his braids. Weâll answer a few of them in this section.
How to get Lil Yachty Braids?
Well, you have seen from the list that there are a couple of Lil Yachty braids styles you can choose from. But, most of them include box braids and attaching beads to your braids. Check out this video to have a basic idea of how to braid your hair and attach beads.
Why did Lil Yachty ditch his red braids?
Lil Yachty has stopped dying his braids red, which he was doing for a long time. He said in an interview that dying his hair frequently was actually damaging his hair a lot. Thatâs why he stopped doing it before his hair got severely and irreparably damaged.
Through this article, I have shown you the best braided hairstyles of Lil Yachty. It is now up to you to decide which styles you want to adopt.
When you have braids, you have to be extra careful about maintenance. You canât avoid providing the care that your braids need. I have a few suggestions that you can follow.
You must avoid making your braids too tight. If your braids are too tight, that can seriously damage your hair and might even cause permanent hair loss.
You also have to regularly hydrate and moisturize your scalp. Oiling your scalp is also a very positive practice. However, whatever moisturizer or oil you are using, make sure that those suit your hair and scalp.
Finally, sleep on a silk or satin surface. Also, wear a durag while sleeping to keep your braids fresh. Just follow these recommendations and rock your Lil Yachty inspired braids with confidence.

Red braids, hair jewellery and multiple protective styles would explain why the Lil Yachty Braids topic became an area of interest and intrigue throughout his career.
The impact of his red braids was evident as he was able to brand, market and position himself separate from his peers who were also widely growing in popularity during the SoundCloud era.
Sounding the same and looking the same are sins in Hip Hop therefore its common to see artists get creative with their image, even if that means dying their hair!
Our editorial highlights some of the best Lil Yachty hair moments from his signature red braids, cornrows, and afro puffs.
Lil Yachty Braids Gallery
Signature red braids.
Lil Yachty had his hair coloured red and placed his hair in multiple protective styles to brand himself and it worked!
From the moment we were introduced to Yachty he kept his hair in red only changing back to his natural hair colour in recent years.
Whilst his hair was red it was styled in multiple ways as the images showcase but this also became stressful on his hair, In Yachtyâs own words,
“Honestly, it was hard to maintain,” he said in an interview with Danny Schwartz.
“The bleach was literally killing my hair. My hair was just dying. It’s growing now. That’s all. It’s just hair. I just kept it red because I loved it. But it kept falling out. It never would grow.”
Lil Yachty talks Hair with Complex
Side Cornrows
Similar in appearance to his red braids with the only difference being his hair colour change.
Having reverted to his natural hair colour for hair health reasons we saw Yachty continue the same braided styles whilst keeping his beads on the ends, I mean some things just donât change right?
This style has been a favourite amongst different rappers with braids for years!
2 Big Braids
Another popular protective style from Yachty were his 2 big braids which he often wore during interviews, photoshoots, and music videos.
Due to it being a protective style it enabled him minimal manipulation and styling allowing for other important things to get done and letâs face it, when youâre a rap superstar you donât want to be thinking about your hair all day, youâve got deals to sort out, music to create and tours to go on!!
How to Maintain your Braids!
Having braids installed is a great feeling as it gives you a new look and confidence. To ensure you maximise your hairs lifeline itâs imperative the proper care and maintenance is applied to your braids. We have provided some tips below to ensure that they stay neat, tidy and clean.
Make sure Braids arenât too tight
If you experience the pain of tight braids, this is your body informing you they need to be loosened or redone. Not only do tight braids damage your hair but you increase your chances of getting braid bumps and infected follicles which we want to avoid. This could lead to temporary or permanent hair loss, something we want to avoid of course!
Moisturize your scalp
We like to explain it like this, your scalp is an extension of your skin, and therefore it requires hydration and care. A good moisturizing routine helps it keep your hair bouncy, defined and healthy, but most important not dry. Find one best suited for your hair type.
Oil your Scalp
We mostly forget to apply oil on our scalp as were too busy focusing on the ends and length, yet itâs our scalp that hair grows from, therefore an oil routine is super important and non-negotiable.
Protect your hair while sleeping with a Durag
The main purpose of Du-rags and head wraps is to prevent stray hairs from becoming loose or tangled which creates the messy look. Protecting your hair at night keeps it in check.
Ensure you take your Hair out every 6 Weeks
As we mentioned before youâre going to have to ensure you let your hair breathe, then washed and itâs been advised for years that the 6 week mark is the sweet spot.
This is nothing short of good hygiene! Your hair has been exposed to multiple layers of dirt and environmental factors which requires up keep! Wash days are your best friend and it will repay you which shiny, clean hair.

Barber Stylist Breaks Down 9 Iconic Celebrity Braid Styles
Released on 07/07/2023
What's up GQ?
I'm Lisa Torres.
I'm a barber stylist and hair expert
and today we're gonna break down
some of the most iconic celebrity braid hairstyles.
[upbeat music]
A$AP Rocky is very well known for having box braids.
It's a style that was very popular in the nineties
and it's extremely relevant today.
A box braid essentially is known for having a square parting
and the hair is braided directly off of it.
A lot of people like to wear it in a ponytail.
They like to wear it in their face.
Very, very popular amongst men and women.
Depending on the amount of braids you want and the size,
they can be anywhere from an hour to like eight hours.
I think this style on A$AP, it looks really good.
It's very stylish, a phenomenal hairstyle for most people
and it looks great on him.
It's funny how I feel like not everyone can pull off
wearing letters in their hair,
but I feel like the way he does this, that he makes sure
that he brings the culture of the streets into fashion.
I think I like the G in the back of his head better
just because since it's bigger, it makes it easier
for the the braider to create the actual shape.
When it's small, it's a little trickier.
I think that he has a great face and head shape
if he ever decided to not have braids,
but I don't think anybody in the world
could imagine him without braids.
So Travis Scott, who is also very well known
for having box braids, he wears them a little different.
He has the hairline taper
which is essentially that you take the hair
that would make up the front hairline
and it's shaved off to match the hair on the side
with a small island of long hair where it's braided.
And he likes to wear big box braids.
So that's more like jumbo box braids.
So, this haircut suits him really well
because he loves to wear his braids in his face
and it's really easy for him to move around,
like the rock star that he is.
I'm team all-black, but that might be a little bit of a bias
because styles come and go.
So right now, I think I'm leaning more
towards the natural hairstyle, natural hair color.
Lil Yachty is very well known
for having these bright red, small box braids with the beads
and I think it was a really cool hairstyle.
It was a really cool way to bring it back
to the younger demographic.
So, to put these beads on the braids,
you have to use a special tool.
It kinda looks like a giant needle.
You kinda fill it up with the beads
and then the opening, you put the braid in
and then you slide the beads up into the braid.
Now that it's been a couple years,
I feel like this style has aged well.
I feel like when he did it, it was more simple.
So nowadays, the beads tend to be more intricate,
more colorful, but it held the test of time
and people are still getting beads on their hair.
So for the hairstyle that's on the right,
she has jumbo box braids.
And then for the style on the left,
she has small box braids.
They're not considered micro, but they're pretty small.
There's a lot of them there.
But for the jumbo box braids,
this is like a super easy hairstyle.
It looked like she could have some extensions,
but as you can see it's harder to tell.
It blends in very well with her natural hair.
It's a cute, more like, natural look.
I feel like it's definitely doable to wear braids,
straight backs, extensions, all of that
with a beautiful gown.
This one is super beautiful.
The one thing about braids that most people
who aren't in the hair world or may not be as exposed to
is to understand how beautiful and elegant braids can be.
So Nipsey Hussle is very well known
for his simple four braid straight backs.
They're considered like a variation of a straight back.
The lines and the partings are essentially straight back,
but the braid in the front,
instead of starting in the middle, starts at a point.
And this is why this specific style is called
the Nipsey braids because they have that specific element.
Cornrows and straight backs tend to come off
as the same thing,
but a straight back is essentially
the braid is starting from the front of the head
and it's going only straight back to the back of the head,
whereas a cornrow could either be starting in the middle,
coming off to the side
or even a design can be considered a cornrow.
It's just the hair being braided on the head.
He definitely popularized it because he was so consistent.
And I don't even think, other than two braids,
I've ever seen him wear any other hairstyle.
I think that when Drake got braids, it shocked the world,
but I think that he did it the best way.
He has a phenomenal braider
and he also kept his braids very simple.
And I think that testing the waters when you're not sure
if braids are gonna look good on you,
always start with something simple
and work your way up to more complicated, intricate styles.
The two braids on Drake looks the most stylish.
The four and six braids tend to blend in
and look a little normal on him, but the two braids...
Because he specifically got them,
like on the crown of his head
and the super sleek sleekness of it is different.
Like people aren't doing that right now.
It's like the Snoop Dogg braids,
but nobody's thinking Snoop Dogg.
They're thinking Drake, like, Wow, they look great on you
with two braids.
I think it goes further for him.
So Pop Smoke has cornrows
and he popularized the starting from the middle,
bringing it to the side and off the head.
Some people don't know if they should call this a box braid
which is often a question,
but this is a cornrow for sure.
This hairstyle looks really good on him
because he also kinda has, like a small face.
So to bring the braids down,
it kinda creates like a face frame a little bit
and, like, elongates his face.
It's just designed to work for him
and the popularity behind it made it iconic.
Most people when they think of Rihanna's braids,
they think of the Fulani braids
which is the hair being braided on the scalp,
cornrowed essentially up to like about half the head,
and then the hair in the back is box braids
which are off the head.
So most people like her braids
when it comes to the Fulani style
just because they're more wearable
and not too many people actually rock it
in the celebrity world.
So who doesn't know Iverson braids?
He's very famous for having designs.
Designs that specifically have many braids in them.
The zigzag braids, the fishbone braids.
He was beyond iconic for his style
and everything that he's done is relevant today
and I think will be relevant tomorrow.
All right guys, well that's all we have for today,
and if there's anyone that we missed,
make sure that you put it in the comments below
and maybe we'll get to them next time.

Lil Yachty Chats Braids, Body Wash, and Being Yourself
It’s important to stay fresh under fire and to handle your business with confidence.
Pro basketball player Brandon Armstrong, YouTuber Markiplier, recording artist Danny Ocean, and rapper Lil Yachty make up the “Gold Squad,” a team of cultural insiders across gaming, music, and sports representing the new AXE Gold collection, a new scent that includes body washes, sprays, and deodorants.
“My music is all about staying positive and being yourself,” says Lil Yachty. “We’re all gold, but it’s hard to always remember that when the pressure’s on. This project with AXE is about staying fresh when the pressure is heavy. Forget the naysayers and own it.”
We caught up with Lil Boat and asked for some of his tips grooming greatness.
The Manual: Can you give us the backstory on your signature red braids?
LY: In grade, I braided my hair because I wanted to look like Kris Kross , this old rap hip-hop group that had braids with colorful rubber bands. My hair was short, so I did two strand twists. And then it grew, and I just wore braids, just braids. And then they grew real long. They were black at the time. When I got a job offer at McDonald’s my mom wanted me to be so presentable, so she made me cut my hair. So that was real sad. I cut my hair. And then she saw I was so sad because my hair was the only thing keeping me different, so then she was like well why don’t you dye it red? So I dyed it red, and it’s been red ever since eleventh grade.
TM: How do you take care of it?
LY: Shit, I don’t. My shit fell out. It grew back. But, nah, I’m on the road a lot. The bleaching and the heat takes a toll on my hair. So, I try to do what I can. But honestly, I don’t do what I should do. It’s sad but it’s true. When I get braided I get it washed, deep conditioned, I put oils in it and all that good stuff. I get it braided like once a week if I can get to a stylist.
TM: Who braids it? Do you have a go-to stylist?
LY: I go to the same lady at home. I’ve been going to her since high school.
TM: There’s a rumor going around the internet that your braids are insured?
“You gotta stay fresh. When you smell good, you feel good. When you look good, you feel good.”
LY: No, that’s not true, they fell out before and no one paid me for it.
TM: Do you shave? And how often?
LY: My face, as soon as I see an inch of hair . I try to keep a baby face. My facial hair grows, I just try to keep it low.
TM: Do you have a favorite shaving product?
LY: I don’t shave myself. I have a barber. He doesn’t actually shave it. He uses clippers .
TM: Do you use moisturizer on your face?
LY: Yeah, I like to use moisturizer . I don’t travel with any, and I’ve been kind of iffy with hotel lotion. So, I don’t do it much because I’m never really home. But I like to make my skin look very smooth and chocolatey.
TM: What about your tattoos? How do you take care of them?
LY: I’m gonna come clean. I probably put something on there one time. You’re making me feel bad.
TM: Sorry! Let’s make you feel good. How does AXE Gold give you dating confidence?
LY: Smelling good is key important. Have you ever been on a date and someone just didn’t smell too good? It’s not the best, right? It’s like a deal breaker, especially on the first date. You gotta stay fresh. When you smell good, you feel good. When you look good, you feel good. All these key elements add up to making someone feel gold. When you feel gold, you feel good. Then you pretty much are good and can’t anybody say otherwise.
TM: Tell me about your personal style?
LY: I have my own style. I like throwback looks a lot. I like the 90’s. I like colors and baggy jeans. I like what I like.
TM: What is your favorite city to shop
LY: LA. But I haven’t been to Japan yet. I can’t wait to go.

Fun fact: Humans shed. While you may think, "Yuck," this process serves a distinct purpose: It removes dead skin cells to make room for new ones. The result? Brighter, clearer skin. Skin cell turnover helps keep your face from looking dull and tired. The process can also reduce the chances of acne and breakouts.
While the skin naturally turns over, your face may need some assistance through exfoliation. Experts generally recommend exfoliating as part of your regular skincare routine (though not necessarily daily). You'll find tons of exfoliating products in the skincare aisle and tons more DIY recipes out there. How to exfoliate the face depends on your skin type. Here's what to know. What is exfoliating?
In not-so-breaking news, physical activity can do the body good. There's seemingly endless research on how logging a good sweat sessionâor even a brisk walkâcan improve numerous bodily functions, including the health of our organs like the lungs and heart. Yet, sweat, debris, bacteria, and even the sun exposure we get while breaking a sweat can have some not-so-great effects on our largest organ: the skin.
Does that mean you should throw in the towel and ditch your workout routine? No, but you may want to use a towel during a pre and post-workout skincare regimen. While you likely know all about the need to stretch before and after exercising to warm up and cool down muscles, what you do regarding skincare before or after workout sessions can make a big difference.

Collagen protein powder and whey protein might look the same from their packaging, but each of these workout supplements differs in their use and makeup. Whey protein powder has been used by fitness enthusiasts for decades, offering a convenient way to achieve protein macro goals. But powdered collagen supplements have only recently become a fitness trend -- but is it a fad? In this guide, we'll break down everything you need to know about choosing collagen protein vs whey and how to determine which is best for your fitness goals. What is collagen? Collagen is an essential protein that plays many critical roles in our bodies such as providing structure and support for our bones, muscles, ligaments, connective tissues, and more. This important protein makes up about 30% of your body's total protein but declines naturally with age. Collagen peptide products are made from animal tissues (cow) that are boiled and dehydrated to create a powdered supplement. Once collagen begins gelatin and is made into a powder, it is packaged as a flavorless supplement you can find in your local health food or vitamin store. kasarp studio / Shutterstock What is whey protein?
Whey protein is another product found in powdered supplement form. This protein supplement is made from whey, a byproduct liquid that separates milk when cheese is made. During the cheese-making process, milk fat coagulates and leaves behind whey, which is then turned into a powdered form. This is a complete protein that contains all nine essential amino acids. Our bodies cannot produce essential amino acids on their own; which means we must consume them in our diet. Collagen protein vs. whey protein
FROM BRAIDS, TO STREETWEAR, TO DESIGNER BRANDS: THIS IS THE EVOLUTION OF LIL YACHTY’S STYLE
Lil Yachtyâs direction of fashion has widely improved over the course of his music career, and arguably he is now considered one of rapâs best dressed.Â
Perhaps what makes Yachtyâs style so exclusive in comparison to his competitors is that heâs got steez. Since day one, the artist refused to use a stylist and has solely accumulated a mass collection of designer, vintage and streetwear attire to complete his effortless style. He finishes off his looks with an ensemble of unique accessories: jewellery, sneakers, beads & coloured braids. Â
While in high school, Yachty felt inspired by the ’90s hip-hop duo Kris Kross to start colouring, braiding and adding beads to his hair. His new and eccentric hairstyle motivated the artist to simultaneously take risks and reach new limits by broadening his wardrobe.Â
After graduation, the Georgia native relocated to New York City to spend the summer observing and studying the city’s preexisting streetwear community. Yachty established close relationships with top-tier streetwear legends like Bloody Dior, Luka Sabbat & Bloody Osiris, who all encouraged him to develop a passion for streetwear and vintage thrift. Yachty knew that if his fashionable side stood out, so would his music.Â
In 2015, Lilâ Boatâs SoundCloud single âOne Nightâ generated mass attention for its melodic sounds, unique vocals and the help of streetwear legend and influencer, Ian Conner.
While at LAX, Yachty was randomly approached by Conner who asked if he could purchase the Supreme jacket Yachty was wearing. Yachty refused to sell an item of such value to him, although the two remained conversing and established a deep connection off their shared love for fashion and culture.Â
Conner had already established himself a large social media following and utilized it to promote his new friendâs music. He couldn’t keep his mouth shut about his new profound love for Yachty’s sound.
At the time Conner was the creative consultant for Yeezy, and asked Ye if Yachty could walk in the brand’s third season fashion show. Ye agreed, and this once in a lifetime opportunity allowed for Yachty’s name to further rise within the fashion and rap community.Â

Lil Yachty ‘s song with Drake , “ Super Soak ,” continues to cause controversy.
First, Soulja Boy took issue with some of Drake’s lyrics that mentioned his record label Stacks on Deck. Then, during an appearance on the podcast Andrew Schulz’s Flagrant With Akaash Singh in late July, Yachty revealed the reason why he sent the song to streamer Kai Cenat to begin with.

Over the weekend, Mr. Hotspot hopped on IG Live to tell fans his side of the situation, saying he’s open to clearing the sample if they make a clean version of the song. “We recorded them a clean reference and we sent it into them, so hopefully they rerecord the clean reference and we come out with the clean ‘Goodness Gracious’ altogether,” he said. “So I said it’s a process, but it’s … it’ll be good for both of their brands like that, and I’m blessed to work with children, so we just gotta make it clean for them.”
He added, “We don’t need no children getting whooped ’cause they said this or that, you understand? And if you look at the backside, it’s the children who really runnin’ these views up. So, if we make sure both verses clean, everybody coming clean, everybody gonna benefit for sure. It’s a process, but we appreciate you being patient. We sent it in, they got it today and them boys about to turn up. We ain’t tryin’ to hold them back from nothin’, but we just need the morals correct, that’s all.”

This wasn’t the only drama Yachty found himself in.
During the same podcast interview, he also mentioned Drake was “unfazed” after his rap battle with Kendrick Lamar , which, of course, became a topic of discussion on social media. But, that’s not all. A couple weeks ago, he went viral for saying people from New York couldn’t dress when he had Cash Cobain on his podcast A Safe Place .
This, too, caused a stir on social media, which leads us to what the the rapper said Thursday (Aug. 1). Yachty to took Instagram Live and announced that he was going to stay quiet going forward. “I’m not doing no more talkin’,” Yachty said. “I don’t got s—t else to say. I’m gone off this internet s—t. I think I’m gone for the rest of the year. I swear to God. I ain’t got s—t else to say.
He added, “Contracted to do this podcast s—t, unfortunately contracted to, but I ain’t posting no more hs—t. I ain’t posting no fits. I’m deleting the apps off my phone. I swear to God … I’m not tweeting, I’m minding my f–king business.”

Lil Yachty Shows Off New Hair Style
Lil Yachty isn't waiting for the new year to show off his new self, taking to Instagram Live on Monday (Dec. 19) to show off a new hair style. As seen in the above video, Yachty has let his signature braids and beads go, his red locks still as colorful as ever.
"See this right here? The James Brown look, you know?," he says. "I’m working on my album. This look means seriousness. This hair do means hits. And to Funkmaster Flex this means a lot of mumble rap." Jay Z was known to miss the barber's seat whenever he was in album mode, Yachty likewise switching his style up.
In November, Yachty said of recording his debut album, “I have so many amazing songs that we never put out. But we’ve been on tour, and I keep trying to record on tour but I keep losing my voice. And it’s just hard for me to record, 100 percent. So once I get off tour on the 18th, we’re really just gonna lock in and just start completely fresh. So there’s no songs: we’re really just gonna make it in three or four weeks.”
As for his Funk Flex remarks, the Hot 97 DJ called Yachty out by name recently during an on-air screed against mumble rappers. Yachty responded via Twitter, writing, “If it ain’t one hot 97 dj it’s another lmao.” Earlier in the year, Yachty and Ebro had exchanged words over Yachty's rapping ability.

Lil Yachty Kissed His Signature Dreads Goodbye And Has Completely New Hair Now

Lil Yachty’s never been afraid to rock the boat, bad pun intended. The buzzing rapper’s not waiting on January 1, 2017 to adopt the “new year, new me” mantra as he’s already decided to switch up his signature hairstyle, unveiled on Instagram Live late Monday night.
Gone are his signature beads and braids in exchange for a permed out look he chose to call “the James Brown look.” In the video, Lil Boat indicates he’s working on a new album and the look is just part of getting into the proper mode mentally. âIâm working on my album,” he said while munching on a corndog. “This look means seriousness. This hair do means hits. And to Funkmaster Flex this means a lot of mumble rap.â
The jab at Flex comes after the two spent the latter part of last week going back and forth over social media. Clearly, Funk Flex didn’t get the memo that Yachty’s unbothered by all the critique of his rap skills since he’s now a Grammy-nominated artist and landing big looks from the likes of Nautica , Sprite and Alexander Wang.
Naturally, social media’s response to Yachty’s new ‘do was a mixed bag, ranging from mild confusion to comical. Meanwhile, Yung Joc is somewhere flipping his hair and feeling himself for being a trendsetter at the sight of all this.

LiL Yachty Hair Tutorial he is known for his edgy and cool personality. In fact, he is never afraid to style his hair in ways unimaginable the latest being his red braids . Who would have thought beads, braids and red would match and explode into a very unforgettable hairstyle.
The rapper is admired for his experimental take on his hairstyles. Perhaps, all rappers do try to be unique not only in their music but also their signature hairstyles (and out of this world names). We just thought.
His music is about being you and staying positive. Perhaps, it is the message heâd like to send us all with his red braid hairstyle. He also believes that people are all gold.
When asked about the inspiration behind his red hair, he said that he just wanted to look like Kris Kross that had his braids with multi colored rubber bands. However, he used to have short hair, so he only two strand twists.
When it grew back, he wore only braids â and then it grew longer and also black at the time. When he received a Mc Do job offer, his mother had his hair cut so that heâd look presentable. But when his mother saw how sad he was, she told him to dye it red â it is red hair since Grade 11.

Start clean.
To get your freshest man bun yet, begin your hairstyle with clean hair.  Try using a hair care system that leaves your hair thick and full looking, like Dove Men + Care Thick & Strong Fortifying Shampoo + Conditioner . You want a cool braid, right? It all begins with the condition of your hair.
Apply styler.
Apply a pomade or paste, like KEEPIT HANDSOME Sculpting Paste  that allows you to sculpt and reshape your hair. Rake it through with your hands.
Comb through.
Comb product throughout the hair to distribute evenly before you begin to braid.
Mold middle section.
Mold hair as if you were creating a high pompadour. This is where you will be creating your man braid.
Divide and braid.
Now to begin the braid! Divide hair into three even sections, then cross them over one another, one by one. Continue this stitch until you get to the ends of your hair.
For those of you that donât know how to braid, before you call someone to do it for you, let us teach you. After dividing your hair into three even sections, cross the outer right strand of hair over the middle strand, then cross the left outer strand over the middle strand and repeat! You can do this in your sleep!
Secure and finish.
Secure the end of your braid with a hair elastic, and youâre done!

How long do braids last?
There is no definitive answer to the question of how long do braids last, as the lifespan of braids will depend on a variety of factors, including the type of hair, the products used, and the style of the braid. However, in general, braids can last anywhere from two to six weeks, or even longer.
There are a few things that you can do to help your braids last longer. First, make sure that you use a good quality hair product, such as a moisturizing conditioner or hair oil, to help keep your hair healthy and hydrated. Second, avoid washing your hair often while your braids are in place, as this can weaken the hair and cause the braids to fall out sooner. Finally, try to avoid excessive tugging or pulling on the hair, as this can also cause the braids to come loose.
If you are looking for a style that will last for a longer period of time, you may want to consider opting for box braids or Senegalese twists, both of which can last for up to six weeks or more. Conversely, if you are looking for a style that is a bit more temporary, you can try a simple braid or fishtail braid, which will typically last for two to four weeks.
10 Popular Rappers with Braids
By: Author Gary Dek, Editor
Posted on Published: November 30, 2020
Many rappers and hip-hop artists have worn their hair in braids over the years. As one of the best hairstyles for black men , braids are easy to wear with short and long hair, and offer a stylish look. From box braids to zig-zag cornrows to a fade haircut on the sides with braided hair on top, most black rappers have experimented with different styles.
Some of the most popular braided rappers include Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, ASAP Rocky, Xzibit, Ja Rule, Jim Jones, Pusha T, Coolio, Ice Cube, and Meek Mill. In recent times, some white rappers have even styled braids and cornrows in an attempt to look the part.
Check out the most popular rappers with braids to inspire your style!
Famous Rappers with Braids
One of the biggest breakout stars of the 2010s, ASAP Rocky got his start in music young. He was rapping even before getting his GED, to some underground recognition. After that, he was noticed and championed by fellow artist Drake, leading to the release of his official debut album, Long.Live.A$AP , back in 2013. He’s been enjoying a lot of international success ever since as a solo musician, producer, and featured collaborator.
Where his hairstyle is concerned, ASAP Rocky is faithful to his braids. He styles them in various ways, often in a ponytail. The box braids give him an eccentric look, which we’re guessing is exactly what the rapper was going for.
A more recent entry on the rap scene, Lil Yachty scored his first platinum single with One Night in 2016. Fast forward a couple of years and he was already a Grammy-nominated artist. The rapper is widely known for his upbeat style of music which he likes to describe as bubblegum rap.
The first thing you notice about Lil Yachty is his braids , dyed bright red and styled with beads. These red braids are not for everyone, but the look suits the rapper well. His music is all about the importance of staying positive and his hairstyle emphasizes that message, projecting an aesthetic that’s whimsical and fun.
Travis Scott
Travis Scott’s musical style is a mix of hip hop, lo-fi, and ambient. He got his first major-label deal in 2012 and released a debut album, Rodeo , three years later. Affiliated with Kanye West and T.I.’s labels, Scott quickly became a bona fide superstar with numerous platinum singles under his belt.
But besides churning out hits, Scott is also known for his top-notch sense of style. His braids have inspired millions of fans around the world. They’re effortlessly cool and easy to care for, making it the perfect hip-hop hairstyle .
From rapping to acting, Ludacris is a true renaissance man. The artist debuted in the late ‘90s and spent the 2000s scoring hit after hit, to the point where he became a household name and sought-after collaborator. As an actor, he is best known for appearing in The Fast and the Furious series, but he also had roles in other films like Crash and New Year’s Eve .
As the years went by, Ludacris’s hair underwent several changes, from a big Afro to a buzz cut to braids. The rapper’s cornrows will always be iconic because this braided style symbolized his signature look during the height of his success.
Snoop Dogg is one of the best rappers of all time and needs no introduction to most fans. Emerging in the early ’90s, the artist evolved beyond his hardcore gangsta rap beginnings to become a pop culture fixture. Whether he’s releasing a new song or starring in a fresh reality series, Snoop has always been eager to show fans a new, unexpected side of him.
Besides being a beloved media personality, Snoop Dogg has styled all the coolest black men’s hairstyles. While trying different cuts and styles, the rapper’s flawless cornrows remain his most iconic look yet. Throughout the years, Snoop’s braids have been his go-to style. We would go as far as to credit him for making cornrows mainstream.
Xzibit started as an underground rapper before becoming a popular MC, actor, and TV host. Since 2013, he has been a part of the hip-hop group Serial Killers and takes on regular acting gigs, including TV shows such as Empire and movies such as Sun Dogs .
Another believer in the power of cornrows, Xzibit wore them for a long time during his early rapping days. If you’re eager to follow in his footsteps, you’ll be happy to know that cornrows allow you to freely express your creativity. Don’t be afraid to ask your barber to create unique patterns that will help you stand out from the crowd.
Coolio achieved mainstream success in the mid-to-late 1990s, being well-known for his Grammy Award-winning single Gangsta’s Paradise . The rapper has also become an accomplished chef, with his own cooking show, Cooking with Coolio . He likes to joke that he is the “ghetto Martha Stewart”.
As for his hairstyle, Coolio’s braids are best described as absolutely insane. Always sticking out and up, his braided hair is instantly recognizable. There was even a time the rapper would wear his braids in two pigtails. Fortunately, Coolio has the swagger to pull off this look with style.
One of the most refreshing hip-hop talents in recent memory, Meek Mill embarked on his music career as a battle rapper and gained recognition thanks to a series of stunning mixtapes that chronicled his difficult upbringing. Once he released his debut album in 2012, he was already a big deal.
Mill is currently sporting a polished look, so you might not even know that the rapper wore braids throughout his childhood and mixtape days. Quite the contrast with the classic Caesar cut he adopted once gaining notoriety, his new haircut likely signals his newfound prestige. Nevertheless, Meek Mill’s cornrow braids continue to be a stylish hairstyle for men.
Ol’ Dirty Bastard
Speaking of crazy braids, enter the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard. One of the founding members of Wu-Tang Clan, he was responsible for some of the most influential hip-hop to come out in the ’90s. Unfortunately, he was also the loose cannon of the group and started to have numerous difficulties with the law soon after embarking on his solo career. It all culminated with his death due to an accidental drug overdose.
But while his personal life was troubled, his iconic spiked-up braids were always on point. The look might even work today as long as you have the dedication to maintain it.
