GIVING SHAPE TO SPACE

AN AVANTGARDE PROJECT BY STEFANO PASTROVICH RELECTS THE DESIGNER’S UNIQUE CREATIVE FLAIR. COMPLETELY FREE OF PRECONCEPTIONS, IT IS THE RESULT OF HIS SEARCH FOR NEW FORMS AND IDEAS IN YACHT DESIGN.

Atlantico is one of the most significant works by architect and yacht designer Stefano Pastrovich . Supporting the mother ship 55m Atlante , the boat is 27.4m in length overall with a beam of 10.2m when the fold-down side terraces in the stern are deployed. The common thread throughout the yacht is a rational aesthetic with large open-plan spaces designed to be beautiful , liveable , versatile and functional .

The Italian architect based in the Principality of Monaco is already well known for the strong architectural influence and aesthetic impact of projects such as 104m Le Grand Bleu and the 36m Wallypower . These were all projects driven by the search for new forms and concepts with the aim of pushing the boundaries of yacht design.  Atlantico is undoubtedly the result of the same mission: a “ breakthrough ” project that has benefitted from the rare conjunction of the yacht owner’s adventurous spirit and the designer’s unique creativity.

Designing silence

“Atlantico is the result of long research and development work,” says Pastrovich. ” It is the answer to the question: how can yacht design best meet the needs of modern owners?” Stefano Pastrovich

Pastrovich is a believer in the Mies Van Der Rohe concept that “Less is more “. The renowned German architect maintained that the most beautiful architecture is based on what is most essential, and this principle moulded the Atlantico project from the very beginning.

The essentiality of architecture is able to free the spirit of users from the cognitive bombardment of modern life. Pastrovich applied this theory to Atlantico by focusing on the elements he considered necessary to fully enjoy the onboard experience. Atlantico ’s main deck measures 27x8m for a total area of 145 sqm. In this space there is no fixed furniture, except for the helm console and the pilot’s seats. All the sofas and tables are fixed to the deck by easily removable pins.

“We think that designing a deck without fixed furniture helps to free the mind and give space to the personal creativity of the owner,” says Pastrovich. “ Drawing on the essential is a bit like drawing silence or emptiness. It is a work of surgical difficulty, because it requires great concentration to abstract the mind from daily reality of information overload.” Stefano Pastrovich

The continuity of space

One of the most significant architectural motifs of the project is the continuity between interior and exterior : a feature that is already a hallmark of Pastrovich, but which is even more pronounced aboard Atlantico.

This sense of continuity is not only highlighted by the uninterrupted teak decking from bow to stern that seems to ignore the presence of the deckhouse, but also the abruptly vertical lines of the aft section of the deckhouse, designed without an aft door to provide free circulation fore and aft and diminish the perception of being inside or outside.

Nautical pilotis

Creating a covered space that is perceived as an external space was decisive for the entire architectural concept and is highlighted by   the static design of the roof, the supporting pillars and the side windows.

“We have overturned the concept of perimeter roof supports by introducing the interior ‘pilotis’ – columns or pillars – developed by Le Corbusier in the 1930s,” says Pastrovich. “In fact, the roof loads are supported on these pillars, which means we were able to lighten the glass perimeter structure and increase the visibility outboard.”  Stefano Pastrovich

The pillars are a symbol of generational change insofar as they do away with the traditional facade design of windows perforating the sides, and replace them with curtain wall windows as used in land-based architecture.     

As wide as a loft

Pastrovich developed the interior design by extending the architectural continuity between exterior and interior below deck and creating a lounge that can betransformed into two large cabins .

“We wanted to recreate the freedom offered by a residential loft apartment , where the owner can give space to his own creativity by choosing to change the layout or modifyingthe decor and function.” Stefano Pastrovich

Like the exterior, the interior environment has been stripped of superfluous elements . The doors are hidden in the walls when not in use and the structural pillars on the upper deck continue down to the floor, the ceiling design enhances the geometry of the pillars, and the beds and sofas are removable to be able to change them over time.

Full-beam performance

Pastrovich Studio’s experience in the conversion of supply vessels over the last decade has brought awareness of the advantages of wider hulls in the design of the layout.

“Over the years we have experimented with different layouts and realised that the future is with shorter and wider yachts that bring advantages in terms of both layout management and manoeuvrability .” Stefano Pastrovich

Atlantico’s hull was designed to integrate the studio’s technical knowledge with different hull geometries, as seen in the double hull chine, the flared stern and the distinctive shape of the bow. The result is an unusually wide hull from bow to stern , which provides unique volumes for a yacht of its size with room for a tender under the foredeck.

A conventional yacht of 27m LOA would normally have a maximum beam of about 6m. Atlantico, on the other hand, has a beam of 6m at water level and 8.3m on deck. And when the side platforms are deployed these increases to 10.2m.

Combined with a top speed of 28 knots , these features make the Atlantico “chase boat” particularly suitable for fast transfers between islands and to explore remote bays, while providing comfortable and airy spaces to enjoy life at sea to the max.

The complex project fused naval architecture from Lateral with Alia’s shipbuilding know-how, which extended to every element of the interior furnishing. “The idea with Atlantico, from the real beginning, was to create something innovative & unique that could fully satisfy our needs: a fast & comfortable chase boat which can also be used independently. The initial concept was to try and break conventional boundaries of width, proportions and liveability of a support vessel,” says the owner of Atlantico and the mother ship Atlante. “Through tight collaboration of those involved, the outcome is a fast open-plan platform by the sea with no compromise on quality, style, innovation and performance.”

The blend of cool and comfort continues below, where there are two impressive double cabins with large freestanding beds. Gloss white walls contrast firmly with the dark, lavish wood of furniture and bulkhead paneling, all cleverly lit by indirect light. Small details strike you, such as the multiplicity of storage, hidden behind tessellating wooden panels with flush opening mechanisms.   There are all the amenities required of a large yacht, with two sophisticated shower rooms and a very capable crew galley aft, together with accommodation for up to four crew. “Atlantico is far more than a chase boat,” says Çelik. “This is a boat which can easily be used as a stylish weekender for exploring shallow bays or inaccessible islands, and offers both exhilarating speed and the range to cover 600 nautical miles at cruising speed.”   “We have built a very unique vessel that reflects her owner’s unparalleled vision and impeccable taste. To bring this machine into being with uncompromising quality, and within the requested performance levels – it was a challenge for all those involved. We couldn’t have done it without the experience we have gained from building highly complex 50m-plus superyachts.”   And it seems that the owner’s vision has been fully delivered. “Atlantico turned out to be the perfect fit for us: extensively used as a chase boat for fast transfers and beautiful days at sea. Perfect for short “independent” getaways,” adds the owner. “Alia was pivotal in the realization and construction of the project. Quality and attentions to detail outperformed our expectations.”

Onboard Atlantico , the 27-metre Turkish Masterpiece

Sometimes, what starts out as a fairly simple idea just takes on a life of its own.

That’s a fairly apt description of Atlantico , the 27-metre luxury speedster designed and created by Turkish boatbuilder Alia Yachts. Envisioned as a chase boat to complement the existing 55-metre luxury yacht Atlante , the smaller vessel quickly established its own special charms early in the design stage.

Built from 5083 marine aluminum to complement its mothership, Atlantico is powered by three Volvo Penta IPS 1350 engines that churn out a combined 3,000 horsepower. That’s more than enough oomph to push the 130-tonne Atlantico to 30 knots, while delivering a level of crisp, precise handling that’s far beyond what one might expect for a vessel that sleeps four guests and accommodates its own crew of four.

Designed by the renowned Pastrovich Studio, Atlantico is all about enjoying life in the fast lane. The yacht’s exterior reflects the explorer yacht profile of its mothership, while also showing a bit of military flair in its low profile, central mast, and aggressive, raked bow.

Pastrovich designed Atlantico with a broad beam of 8.35 metres on a hull derived from a military patrol vessel to operate at sustained high speeds identified as a primary design objective. While the deep V hull profile eats up choppy water when underway, a pair of Seakeeper 26 gyro stabilizers keep the yacht stable while at rest. Talk about having your cake and eating it too.

Step aboard, and the military look quickly gives way to luxury, with a light-caulked teak deck, pale-coloured sofas and sunpads, and dark, glossy vertical columns.

But yachts are all about enjoying the water, and aboard Atlantico , the stern beach club—complete with aft gunnels that neatly drop down like wings when the yacht is at rest to greatly extend the deck area—sets the bar. Further augmenting the space, a hydraulically powered drop-down swim platform extends down and aft, providing easy water access for swimming, taking a spin on a Seabob, or simply lounging the day away.

From the beach club, two low steps lead up and forward into the covered cockpit where one can lounge and escape the sun. Enormous side windows and protective curtains inboard provide a real sense of privacy.

The yacht’s open flow leads forward into the salon, masterfully designed to yield maximum versatility, easily shifting from daytime living space to evening dining area to late-night cocktail lounge—and serving all three needs with equal aplomb.

A discreet helm station featuring a multiscreen glass dash and dual shock-mitigating helm seats occupies the starboard forward corner of the salon. Beside it, a large door opens to allow direct access to the spacious bow seating and sunning area. There’s no need to climb stairs or navigate narrow catwalks on Atlantico —the bow is a ocal point, so easy access was a prime design consideration

The blend of cool and comfort continues belowdecks, where two impressive double cabins with large free-standing beds pamper guests. Between them, the glossy white walls of the lower salon contrast with the dark wood furniture and bulkhead panelling, creating a fresh and inviting space that’s further accentuated by clever indirect lighting.

It’s all quite spiffy for what was originally envisioned as a simple chase boat to run around with a larger yacht. Indeed, Atlantico puts a number of similarly sized yachts to shame. With its high speed and 600-nautical-mile range, Atlantico would make a brilliant weekender, perfect for exploring distant coves, bays, and islands where the big yachts can’t go.

First up, the hull needed to be capable of high speeds, so it was designed with a broad beam of 8.35m and three of Volvo’s most powerful IPS1350 engines, generating an exhilarating 3000hp. This makes it possible for Atlantico to plane despite her size. It also gives her responsive handling and a very sea-kindly motion, even in heavy seas. Luxury yacht designer Marco Ferrari has released renders for a new 77m/252.6ft concept known as luxury yacht ATLANTICO. The svelte design in chrome has contemporary appeal and provides five decks for guests’ entertainment indoors and out.

The exterior concept images show spacious sunbathing, lounging and dining areas to the aft of all decks, culminating the sundeck where there is plenty of seating in addition to sunbeds surrounding a massive forward pool.

Technical specifications estimate her volume at around 1,750 GT and she would have a draft of  3.2m/10.2ft due to her lightweight aluminium hull and superstructure.

The guest accommodation is placed on the main deck and provides for up to 14 guests over six en-suite cabins. On this deck also is a cinema or media room depending on the Owner’s preference, and behind an open-plan dining area adjoined to the main salon, where guests have excellent views out of the large windows or access to the main deck aft for sunbathing and lounging.

The Owner’s cabin is situated on the private Owners’ deck and boasts a wealth of amenities, including a private studio and art gallery, a dressing room, a double en-suite with shower and bathtub, and an outside private deck area with a Jacuzzi and direct access to the helipad.

The crew meanwhile is accommodated on the lower deck while a Captain’s cabin is on the bridge deck for a total of 19 pax.

The lower deck is also a combination of luxury and practicality, starting with the stern beach club which hosts a 9m/29.5ft pool. The tender garage and water toys storage are placed amidships to be launched through side, hatches, and forward there is a hospital cabin along with crew areas such as the mess, galley and gym.

The engines have yet to be finalised, however, under diesel-electric propulsion, M/Y ATLANTICO could reach a top speed of 24 knots.

Italian Yacht Designer Marco Ferrari unveiled the 77m Atlantico

The latest project of the renowned Italian yacht designer Marco Ferrari, Atlantico is a 77 meter, low profile, full aluminum vessel with sharp lines and a lovely sporty look. The stunning yacht before you aims to be lightweight and eco friendly, with an aluminum construction and featuring a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system.

This 77 meter vessel should be able to reach a top speed of 24 knots, with an amazingly low draft of only 3.2 meters, making it perfect for reaching ports or secluded beaches in shallow waters.

The yacht boasts a spacious owners’ deck, on which you’ll find a stateroom, an art gallery and a lovely bathroom complete with shower and bathtub. The outdoor part comes with a private lounge and Jacuzzi and has direct access to the helipad, which can be turned into a cinema when you’re not landing on the yacht with a helicopter.

On the bridge, there’s a gym surrounded in glass, perfect no matter the weather outside. The exterior is fit for sunbathing but of course, you could also make an outdoor sports club there, while the sundeck features several sunbeds and a lovely infinity pool. The yacht can accommodate a maximum of 12 guests in six cabins on the main deck and a crew of 18 on the lower deck.

The crew area includes a mess, the galley, hospital cabin, a separate gym for the crew, 2 single cabins and 6 double cabins. The crew area also comes with direct access to the engine room and the technical area under the lower deck. The decks are all connected via a glass elevator.

The beach club spans on a length of 7 meters and boasts another pool, with glass doors providing access to the platform. Fold-out terraces give easy access to the water. The vessel comes with a tender garage as well, which can take 2 tenders of max 10 meters, watersports and diving gear. There’s also a 6 meter rescue tender under the main deck.

The 77-metres Atlantico is a pleasure yacht with extensive outside areas and wide interior spaces, which enables the guests to enjoy the seaview and be in contact with it. The aim of the design was to create a modern yacht with timeless elegance. Particular focus was on the proportions to keep the profile low. The yacht has six decks with amenities and services as helipad, tender garages with speedboat and jetski. Six suite cabins host twelve guests, while the owner has a deck with outside lounge and jacuzzi. There is an outside and a 7-metres interior pool. The yacht has a hybrid propulsion.

Spotlight on Marco Ferrari's 77m Atlantico Concept

Fast, light and exceptionally cool; these phrases about sum up the latest innovative concept to come from Marco Ferrari Yacht Design, 77.5m Atlantico. In true Italian Style, Marco Ferrari has put together a design concept which is at once aesthetically contemporary and timeless in her appeal.

Atlantico simultaneously embodies the luxuries of expansive open space and world-class amenities typical of the 50m+ market, but whose aluminium hull and superstructure afford her with the rapid speed of more navigable vessels. Across each of her 6 unique cabins, Atlantico will house up to 14 guests each with fantastic views of the ocean. Also on main deck is located a cinema or media room, according to the owner’s preference, with a main salon divided between lounging and dining areas.

There is no shortage of outdoor socialising space onboard Atlantico; from her aft lounging area to her beach club fitted with a 7m pool, guests onboard this superyacht will always enjoy the luxurious feeling of a mansion-at-sea.

Atlantico also features a private owner’s apartment on her dedicated owner’s deck, comprising of a master suite, private studio, art gallery, dressing room and double en suite. This is completed by a private lounge and Jacuzzi, with panoramic ocean views linked directly to the helipad.

As befitting of the higher echelon of superyachts, Atlantico’s interior decks are all accessible by a glass elevator. Her tender garage forward offers ample space for two 10 metre limos and open tender, as well as water toys. A secondary tender garage is also located forward, hosting a 6 metre rescue tender.

What with her enclosed-glass gym on bridge deck, expansive sundeck and infinity pool, guests onboard Atlantico will be left wanting for nothing when it comes to relaxation and leisure. The superyacht is also perfectly equipped for high-octane adventure, capable of reaching speeds of up to 24 knots.

Marco Ferrari Reveals 77.5 Metre Atlantico Superyacht Concept

Yacht designer Marco Ferrari has released details of his latest concept; the 77.5 metre Atlantico.

The all-aluminium yacht design features plentiful outside areas. These include the beach club, which is located aft of the lower deck and features a wide stern platform, bar, folding terraces and an enclosed seven-metre swimming pool.

Al fresco entertaining and lounging areas are found on both the bridge deck and sundeck, the latter of which also features an infinity pool.

The 1750GT interior meanwhile includes a main saloon divided into a sitting room and dining area with sweeping views of the ocean.

Accommodation on board is for a total of 14 guests across six cabins on the main deck, while the owner’s private apartment is located on the dedicated owner’s deck. This comprises a master suite, private studio, art gallery, dressing room and an ensuite equipped with two showers and a bath.

The exterior private terrace meanwhile features a lounge, Jacuzzi and helipad, which doubles up as an outside cinema when not in use.

The crew area, which includes a galley, crew mess, lounge and gym, sits forward of the lower deck. The accommodation quarters allow for a staff of 18, including the captain and comprise two single cabins, six double cabins and a hospital cabin linked with the engine room. The captain’s cabin meanwhile is located forward of the wheelhouse. All interior decks are linked with a glass elevator.

Atlantico would also feature two tender garages; one large enough to hold two 10 metre tenders, as well as jet skis and diving equipment, and a second garage for a six metre rescue tender.

Power will come from a diesel-electric propulsion package for a projected top speed of 24 knots.

Italian yacht designer marco ferrari unveiled project atlantico - a 77m full-alumium vessel..

ATLANTICO has a very sporty look with sharp lines and a low profile. As a lightweight aluminum construction, the hull saves some weight and helps the diesel-electric propulsion to reach a maximum speed of 24 knots – moreover, a low draft of 3.20m.

The private owners’ deck contains the stateroom, art gallery, and bathroom including shower and bathtub. Furthermore, the outside space includes a private lounge, Jacuzzi, and direct access to the touch-and-go helipad. When a helicopter is currently not needed, it turns into a cinema.

The bridge deck features a glassed gym to train also during bad weather. The outside area is flexible to enjoy sunbathing or getting the gym outside. More sunbeds are on the sundeck together with a 5 x 2.5m infinity pool. Alongside the wheelhouse, the bridge deck also includes the captain’s cabin for short ways.

ATLANTICO has accommodation for twelve guests in six cabins on the main deck, while a crew of 18 is on the lower deck. The crew area forward includes the mess, the galley, a hospital cabin, crew gym, two single cabins, and six double cabins. Moreover, the crew area has direct access to the engine room and the technical area on under lower deck. A glass elevator connects all decks.

Another pool can is at the beach club with a length of 7 meters. A glass door allows access to the fixed platform. There are also fold-out terraces to support easy access to the water.

The tender garage amidships welcomes two tenders up to 10 meters, watersports, and diving equipment. Under the main deck is a 6m rescue tender.

Travis Scott released with no charges after allegedly assaulting a hotel security guard

PARIS — Rapper Travis Scott was released on Saturday with no charges following his arrest in Paris this week, according to a representative.

The incident on Friday involved an alleged fight with a security guard and his own bodyguard at a luxury hotel in central Paris, French authorities said on Friday.

"I can confirm that on August 9, 2024, police officers were called to the George V hotel and arrested the rapper nicknamed Travis Scott for assaulting a security guard," the Paris prosecutor's officer said in a statement on Friday.

"The security guard had intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard. The Paris public prosecutor’s office has referred the case to the 1st district of the judicial police," the statement said, without adding any further details.

On Saturday, the Paris prosecutor’s officer confirmed that Scott's case was closed because the offense was "not sufficiently serious."

A source close to Scott said the rapper was “swarmed” by fans and paparazzi all week while in Paris and that he blamed his bodyguard for not adequately protecting him. He was arrested after getting into a fight with his own security detail.

Scott's representative said they were in communication with the local authorities on Friday "to swiftly resolve this matter."

Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, was pictured in the crowd at the men's Olympic basketball semifinal on Thursday, in which the U.S. team came from behind to secure a narrow 4-point victory and proceed to the final and a shot at winning gold.

The George V hotel, near Paris's famous Champs-Élysées and with views of the Eiffel Tower, boasts multiple Michelin-starred restaurants.

Scott was arrested in June on a disorderly intoxication charge after he allegedly yelled at people on a yacht in Miami Beach, Florida. His attorney said that the incident was a simple "misunderstanding."

On Aug. 15-20, Taylor Swift will conclude the non-North American, international leg of her record-setting, headline-making, earth-shaking ‘Eras Tour’ with five huge concerts featuring Paramore at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium .

And, Taylor being Taylor, she’s going out with a bang.

At each of the five U.K. gigs, Swift is bringing along a different special guest to open the show before she or Paramore take the stage.

The aforementioned special guests are:

• Budding indie pop star  Sofia Isella  (Thursday, Aug. 15)

• British alt/indie singer-songwriter  Holly Humberstone  (Friday, Aug. 16)

• Swift’s longtime friend and “Daisy Jones & The Six” star  Suki Waterhouse (Saturday, Aug. 17)

“I asked them to play on this tour because I love their music and I think they’ll absolutely smash it in Wembley Stadium,” Swift shared in her Instagram story. “Go check out their music if you haven’t already. Gonna be a fun 5 nights.”

If you want to see Swift — or any of these exciting special guests — last-minute tickets are still available.

At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find was $521 USD before fees on Vivid Seats.

Other shows have seats starting anywhere from $548 to $760 before fees .

While that may sound pricey, it should be noted that tickets are much, much cheaper than they were just 96 hours ago.

When our team last reviewed Swift’s England ‘Eras Tour’ prices on Monday, Aug. 5, they started at $789 before fees.

For those without a calculator on hand, that’s over $260 in savings (789-521 = 268).

We’re not sure if this price drop is due to the upsetting Vienna ‘Eras Tour’ cancellations or what the reason might be but we do know that there has never been a better time than the present to pounce on Tay Tay tix if you want to save a buck (or 268).
