The legend enters a new dimension.

" I'd like to try and cruise on her... ", was the wish Eng. Carlo Riva expressed when the renderings of the first Riva 50-meter mega yacht were shown to him. Since September 2014, when in Monaco Ferretti Group's Top Management announced the creation of the ' Superyachts Division ', the ideas and projects revolving around brand's new light alloy fleet have developed rapidly.

The dream of building light alloy, displacement Riva superyachts, entirely customizable by the Owner in terms of interior outfitting and decor, takes forward the ambition and ingenuity that between the 1960s and '70s pushed by Carlo Riva. Today this dream has turned into an increasingly tangible and exciting reality. Indeed, a Riva engineering and design team entirely devoted to the ' Superyachts Division ' settled down at the Group's Ancona shipyard. Riva's ' Superyachts Division ' offers its Owners two different lines, using the same naval platforms.

The first line will draw inspiration from the brand's legendary history, and from the class and perfection of true yachting masterpieces like the famous ' Caravelle ', conceived by Eng. Riva in 1964. The second sporty line will feature details reminding of the last generation of Riva coupe yachts, the one to which the recent 76' Perseo and 88' Domino Super belong. It will be just from these latter models' slender and modern look that the second line's more aggressive profile and lines will draw inspiration. Each of the two lines will be available in four different sizes: 50 meters, 60 meters, 70 meters and 90 meters in length.

“Race”, is the name the owner chose. This jewel is the latest from the Riva boat yard which was founded by Carlo Riva . Today’s 50 metre is built in steel and aluminium at Riva’s Superyachts Division in Ancona which the yard’s in house engineering team drew up with input from Ferretti Group and Officina Italiana Design which has an exclusive design contract applicable to all Riva yachts. The owner contributed during the initial phases and requested custom built decor to the interior layout according to his personal tastes and chose free standing furniture for the exteriors. The exterior design work by Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta offers timeless classic styling so as to avoid falling for what is currently labelled as trendy one moment, and is gone the very next. Long lasting traits instead like the aquamarine used for the waterline, embellishing steel elements applied to some of the structural parts with mahogany strips lining the bulwarks and the toe and grab rails.

Liberal use of this precious essence is also found below decks where this wood’s dark colour prevails over other components in polished steel, leather and some of the furniture’s diverse grey hues as well as several other details such as precious carpets that are deployed to protect Apuan white marble flooring. The same stone essentially but of the statuarietto variety, enriches coffee table tops and lines bathroom walls with darker streaks which highlight the contrast with the furniture’s mahogany lining and lacquered grey finishes. This styling is repeated along each of this 50 metres Riva yacht’s five decks which sports something just below 500 GRT in spite of the numerous liveable areas the owner and his guests can enjoy. The passage ways installed enhance an already enviable sense of privacy where separate corridors for crew and guests are the norm.

Stepping on board from the stern into a large cockpit with Nomex® , free standing furniture which is light in terms of weight and is practically insensitive to heat and cold and highly durable through time. It is generally used at best in the aerospace industry. A large shoe basket, an icemaker and a pop-up 55” television set complete the picture. The interiors, engine room or beach area can be accessed from here as well. The beach area comprises two platforms one on port side the other on starboard side resulting in a larger surface area engendering greater contact with the surrounding waters normally accessed by using the sets of carbon steps on each side, which can be also deployed to launch and recover a Williams Dieseljet 625 tender. Crossing the threshold leading into the interiors, visiting guests are confronted with an ample bright open space featuring large window like ports where there’s plenty of room for a living area equipped with a leather sofa seating up to eight, a television cabinet, and a dining area with a cut glass table and a seating capacity of up to ten adjacent to a pair of lateral doors opening out towards the exteriors. Enormous cut glass sliding doors seem to effectively reduce the dividing line between the surroundings and the numerous mirrored surface areas creating en ever growing play of bounding light which seems to increase the volume of the interiors further.

The bow area along the main deck reserved for the owner’s quarters covers a surface area of 70 square metres. The layout comprises three separate spots; a foyer with private study, a lounge with media room and the master cabin with bathroom en suite. Special care has been taken to dampen noise levels in the master cabin. At cruising speeds noise levels are never more than 40 Decibel.All of the four guest cabins, three of which are doubles and one is a twin, are situated along the lower deck as the crew quarters are. Obviously access to each is separate from the other. The crew’s quarters are inclusive of dinette, galley, cold cellar and storage facility. The captain’s cabin is situated adjacent to the helm controls station along the main deck which also hosts a covered living area, with sofa, armchairs, wine cellar and thanks to a dumb waiter this area can double as a place in which to enjoy evening drinks and exquisite dishes in the exterior dining area featuring a corian table for 14 and a pair of electric windscreens on each side.

Astern of this but separated by a 180° swivel and pop up television there’s a furnished area featuring custom built sofas and armchairs. To enjoy even greater privacy when tied up in a port, the bow lounge can be deployed instead. Beneath this there’s a hangar in which to stow a rescue craft and several water toys. The sundeck covers an area of 120 square metres, 90 of these are shaded by a hardtop. A sun bathing spot, a pool with an incorporated hydro massage, a dining zone with BBQ and a rotating pop up television set complete the picture. Every interior and exterior section sports Lutron domotic technology through which you can also exploit diversely lit scenarios accordingly. With a pair of 1,000KW MTU 8V4000M63 engines, Riva “Race” can reach a top speed of 15.5 knots and at 11.0 knots it can cover 3,500 nautical miles without having to refuel.

The technologies on the Riva Race

As a highly sophisticated yacht, Riva “Race” comes with the latest innovation in technologies, custom developed by two Italians highly specialized companies: Videoworks and Team Italia.

Videoworks ( www.videoworksgroup.com ) has designed the AV, IT, TV/Sat, CCTV, IP telephony and home automation system. The AV-IT system was designed according to the philosophy of a distributed system – every cabin/hall has a local rack containing the AV electronics. The audio system in the internal and external premium areas has the James Loudspeaker marine speakers. IP telephony is based on a Panasonic switchboard with fixed and cordless terminals.

The IT infrastructure (cabled and Wi-Fi) is made entirely with Cisco hardware, a world leader in terms of reliability and performance. IP telephony is based on a Panasonic switchboard with fixed and cordless terminals.

Thanks to its considerable experience and long-term partnership with Lutron (a world leading company in the production of light control systems), Videoworks has designed and built the on-board home automation system, i.e. the intelligent control of lights and blinds in the guest area, which makes time on board even more comfortable and pleasant.

The CCTV system is made up entirely of professional Panasonic products. It includes 5 high-resolution IP cameras and a network recorder for recording video flows and archiving them in encrypted form.

Additionally, the satellite TV receiving system has a double antenna with arbitrator, which guarantees optimal signal without blind spots.

Team Italia ( www.team-italia.it ) has designed the innovative I-Bridge® solution with multicontrol and 38” full HD stretched display.

Navigation is made easier by two integrated side flaps and by the exclusive TEAM Italia EMAS (Electronic Moving Assistant System), which processes the data from the 3D sensors and makes manoeuvring the yacht easier

The Cockpit

At 49.9 metres, Race is the largest-ever Riva yacht. The Riva 50 Metri’s exterior and interior were created by Officina Italiana Design in collaboration with Riva’s in-house team

The Beach Club

A seven-metre tender is held below in Race's garage, which has a shell door for launching. When it is launched, the space is transformed into a beach club with loose furnishings. There is enough space for the area to be used as a gym even when under way with the tender inside.

The Main Deck Saloon

The interior of Race is modern, masculine and distinctively Riva. There isn’t a dizzying array of materials; instead the design team concentrated on a uniform colour palette of grey and white, accentuated by mahogany, stainless steel, white statuario marble with grey veining and an abundance of glass.

The Upper Deck Saloon

In order to make the space feel larger, windows inside the upper saloon descend on either side and the aft doors open fully, letting a breeze come through and creating an indoor/outdoor living area.

The sun deck is covered by a carbon-fibre hardtop with a forward angle, matching the geometry of the exterior. The stylish lounge chairs are crafted from mahogany bases with leather straps that raise or lower the back.

The Guest Cabin

Below decks are four guest cabins – three doubles and one twin. The materials are the same that you would find in the owner’s area, with a prevalence of leather and grey tones.

A pack of killer whales sank a 50-foot yacht in Moroccan waters Sunday when the massive sea mammals slammed into the vessel and forced two sailors aboard to flee, officials said.

Spanish authorities said the crew members were rescued by a passing oil tanker that was alerted to the desperate situation after the boat sprang a leak during the orca encounter in the Strait of Gibraltar.

The two people were customers, and the vessel belonged to Spanish company Alboran Charter, according to the Washington Post .  

The yacht, which was 14 miles from the Cape Spartel coast, later sunk to the bottom of the ocean in the latest orca attack that has prompted experts to warn other sailors of danger in the area.

Last October, a Polish tour agency’s yacht was relentlessly hit by a herd of orcas for 45 minutes that led to “major damage and leakage,” the agency said. The boat ended up sinking.

Orcas also interfered with a sailing race last year when a boat traveling from the Netherlands to Italy had a 15-minute showdown with the animals. The crew was forced to drop its sails and make a ruckus to repel them.

Since 2020, hundreds of boats sailing in waters near Spain, Morocco and Portugal have encountered at least 15 orcas that led to some of the vessels sinking, the Washington Post reported.

Spain’s ministries for transport and the environment warned sailors of sailing boats and small motorboats that orca activity is at its peak between May and August between the Strait of Gibraltar and the Gulf of Cadiz. Officials encouraged boaters to sail near the coast.

A team of Spanish and Portuguese marine life scientists, called the Atlantic Orca Working Group, said there were 197 interactions between boats and killer whales in 2021 and 207 more in 2022.

50 Cent Tears Into Diddy's Son King Combs After Threatening Diss Song

50 Cent has fired back at Diddy’s son King Combs after he released a diss track called “Pick a Side” aimed at his father’s detractors.

On the song, King explicitly calls out 50 for taunting the Bad Boy boss and the rest of the Combs family as they face numerous allegations involving sexual assault and sex trafficking.

“When all they had was 50 Cent who put the city on the map?/ Stop lying, pops been hated on by many men and n-gga, that’s fine/ They gon’ try to stop these Eminems and they gon’ die tryin,'” the 26-year-old warns.

He also spits: “I dare one of you n-ggas scream out ‘no Diddy,'” referencing the “pause”-inspired phrase made popular by 50 Cent during his relentless trolling campaign against Puffy.

As expected, 50 did not take long to respond to the jab, posting a picture on Instagram of King performing with his father on stage.

He then sarcastically commented: “I feel so threatened by the things Christian is saying on his record. I’m afraid for my life, please don’t hurt me guys. I never mentioned or posted anything about puffy’s kids because KEEFE D said he killed 2Pac LOL.”

The G-Unit founder then rehashed the sexual assault allegations against King (real name Christian Combs) and posted pictures of the alleged victim’s injuries.

He also wrote: “Damn @kingcombs that what you told Grace O’Marcaigh on that boat huh, gave her the puffy juice with that special sauce in it. LOL BOY OH BOY! BAD BOY FOR LIFE!”

But 50 wasn’t done there. He later highlighted lyrics from “Pick a Side” where King raps: “Knock them walls down like when them feddy boys ran in both of our cribs / Too bad they ain’t know we ’bout to run next door ’cause that’s the one they missed.”

In his caption, 50 wrote: “Now why would you say some shit like this [facepalm emoji] when you know the FEDS are investigating. IS YOU STUPID OR IS YOU DUMB? LOL.”

King Combs was accused of sexual assault by Grace O’Marcaigh last month over claims he attacked her on a yacht during a family holiday in Saint Martin in 2022.

O’Marcaigh worked as a steward on the yacht and alleged that drinks on board the boat had been spiked. She accused King of becoming “violent” and “proceeded to kiss her neck, face, and hands” against her wishes.

In a separate incident, O’Marcaigh alleged that Combs tried to force her to perform oral sex on him in the yacht’s cinema.

She also claimed that Diddy paid a large sum of money to the ship’s crew to keep the incident quiet after she reported it to the ship’s captain.

Aaron Dyer, who is the attorney for both Diddy and King, said the lawsuit was full of “manufactured lies and irrelevant facts.”

Futuristic cruise ship has robot bartenders that can make 1,000 drinks a day

Fancy a dAIquiri? How about a Manhattandroid or a Cyborg Sling?

When you’re at Royal Caribbean’s Bionic Bar, every drink you order has a robot theme, as they have their own crew of cocktail-making automatons that can whip you up what you want in a matter of seconds.

The cruise company features robotic bartenders on nine of its 28 ships, with two Makr Shakr machines in each Bionic Bar shaking and stirring up to 1,000 drinks every day.

The mechanical arms can produce two drinks every 60 seconds, with ‘an almost endless combination’ of cocktails and mocktails ranging from classics and signature serves to design-your-own options.

Passengers can choose from 30 spirits and 21 mixers (including sugar, mint and citrus fruits) and order on a tablet near the counter.

You can even select how strong you’d like your drink, whether you want ice, and how exactly you’d like it prepared.

The robots will then collect the requested ingredients, mix everything together and dispense into a glass, which the customer picks up or is delivered to their table by a human waiter.

While you wait, an interactive wall above the bar displays fun statistics about your order, as well as how many people are in the queue and what the robot mixologists are currently working on.

There’s no time or drink limit here, and cocktails are priced similarly to other bars on board. Better still, if you’ve purchased an unlimited Royal Caribbean drinks package, every futuristic tipple you enjoy is included free of charge.

It’s worth bearing in mind, the Bionic Bars can get busy at peak times, so there may be a slight wait. For a dram with a difference, however, it’s well worth a visit.

Don’t worry about this tech taking crew’s jobs either: even though they’re machines, they’re not perfect, and human staff members are required to refill empty bottles and mop up the occasional spill.

Royal Caribbean has been shortlisted for the Sailawaze Excellence Awards in the technology category, both for its Bionic Bar concept and a range of other cool features.

Metro Boomin Couldn’t Have Made ‘BBL Drizzy’ Without This Comedian

If you haven’t gotten “BBL Drizzy” out of your head, you can thank Metro Boomin — but you also need to thank King Willonius. Metro’s beat is a sped-up version of a ’70s-style R&B song that Willonius posted nearly a month earlier, inspired by Rick Ross accusing Drake of getting a Brazilian butt lift. Now, that song has become one of the bright spots in Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s beef after Metro challenged fans to freestyle over the track. (Drake should’ve been careful when he told Metro to “shut your ho ass up and make some drums.”) Even your mom might be singing along.

Willonius has been “trying to work just as hard as Kendrick” during the beef, writing and producing over a dozen songs inspired by the rappers trading bars . A comedian and songwriter, he makes the songs using artificial-intelligence software, feeding his lyrics and toggling with different prompts until he gets a product he likes. “When I first got introduced to tools like ChatGPT, it unlocked all my creativity,” he says. “Honestly, it felt like I had an advantage over a lot of my peers, just in the ability to create at warp speed.” Now, it’s helped him make his mark on hip-hop history. “Hope I get a BBL out of it. Nah, I’m joking.”

So Rick Ross first coined “BBL Drizzy.” What made you think, That’s a song ? I mean, it was hilarious. Just the words “BBL Drizzy” is funny in itself. But I always had a history of anytime something was trending on Twitter/X, I would make a song and throw it on my SoundCloud. This time I put it on X, and it took off like wildfire. The timing of “BBL Drizzy” and the Drake-Kendrick beef being so polarizing, it was the perfect storm.

What is your process from writing to making the song with AI? Anytime I come up with lyrics, it is just thinking of a concept and thinking about what type of impact I want to have or story I want to tell. For “BBL Drizzy,” it was essentially a singer celebrating his BBL. Like, “Hey man, I got a BBL — I got the best BBL.” Instead of shaming somebody about having a BBL, let’s celebrate Drake for his BBL.

Then actually producing the song with AI, is that a lot of trial and error? How do you get to the final product? Yeah, a lot of trial and error, just going back and forth with the different prompts. I have a really great ear, so it’s just listening to the music once it’s done and being like, I don’t like this , then just keep reiterating the track until it’s something that I feel that people would enjoy. Then just keep tweaking it until you find what actually works. That particular track, I’ve done it in multiple different styles, country, Afrobeats, yacht rock, and it works in each one.

So how did you find out that Metro Boomin flipped this into a beat? I was leaving the Improv late at night; I think it was three o’clock in the morning. I just saw it on X, and I was like, Man, this is insane. Then people started calling me and texting me.

Do you think he did a good job with it? Yeah, he did an excellent job. I mean, it is going viral right now, man. I made the song back in early April, and it had this moment where it did its thing, then it kind of died down. Things don’t stay viral for very long. Then he came back and flipped it and now it’s massive. You got nuns dancing to it. It is taking on a whole life of its own.

What have been some of your favorite versions that you’ve seen? I like the dude playing the guitar . That was really dope. I liked the Indian dancer . The Duolingo TikTok was interesting. I’ve been working, so I haven’t seen a lot of the videos.

Metro eventually thanked you on X for the sample. Have you heard more from him since? Not much. He gave me a shout-out, so that was cool. It’s been a lot of people riding for me. Any time somebody posts the song, there’ll be people in the comments like, “Hey, that’s King Willonius who made that and wrote it.” That’s probably the biggest misconception with AI. People think that you can just throw a prompt in there and it’ll make a track like that, but like, AI doesn’t know about “thicker than a Snicker.” You’re not going to get lines like that from AI.

What did you think about Drake using AI of Tupac on “Taylor Made Freestyle”? Drake just opened up the floodgates. I think Drake gave permission for everybody to use AI. Prior to that, people that were making AI songs last year, it was kind of taboo. For the biggest rapper in the world to use AI to imitate one of the greatest rappers ever, a deceased rapper, I think anything goes now because of that.

Do you think Drake actually got a BBL? He’s rich enough that he could get it. I saw a TikTok with a doctor and he was saying that Drake got one, but who knows? I don’t know him. If he did, shout out to him, then he really is BBL Dizzy.

Between Drake versus Kendrick, who is winning right now? I would have to say Kendrick is winning. Drake’s last diss record, “The Heart Part 6,” just felt like a lackluster effort. He was like, “Yeah, okay, I’m kind of tired of this.” But if you look at the music that really moved the people, it was Kendrick’s music. Who knows how much was factual or not, but if you just look at the impact of the records, I think Kendrick did a lot more to change how we look at Drake. But at the end of the day, “BBL Drizzy” is the best song of the whole beef.
