Deck/Cuddy/Sails/Rigging:

The concept of the Sunday Cat was to have a boat with the cockpit space of our current Sun Cat Daysailer but with the convenience of an enclosed porta potty area. It also provides shelter in the event of inclement weather. There is an abundance of storage space that is accessible through the seat locker hatches in the cockpit in addition to the little cabin.

The cabin is not only large enough for the porta potty and gear but there is plenty of room for a cooler.

The Sunday Cat is not a sleep aboard boat but is intended to be the ultimate daysailer that provides room for all of your gear and the ability for you to have extended day sails because of the available porta potty.

The Sunday Cat boasts, as standard equipment, the newest version of our Mastendr Quick Rig Sailing System, the Mastendr Plus. The Mastendr Plus allows raising the mast from the cockpit. There is nothing to attach or prepare. Simply raise the leverage yoke, pull the slack out of the line, and raise the mast as if it were a sail.

The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

• SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
• D : Displacement in pounds.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. Comfort Ratio

About the com-pac sunday cat  .

The Sunday Cat is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass. It has a cat rig with a single gaff-rigged sail, a plumb stem, a nearly vertical transom, a transom-hung rudder controlled by a wooden tiller and a stub keel, with a retractable stainless steel 80 lb (36 kg) centerboard. It displaces 1,500 lb (680 kg) and carries 300 lb (136 kg) of fixed ballast. The boat has a draft of 4.5 ft (1.4 m) with the centreboard extended and 1.17 ft (0.36 m) with it retracted, allowing beaching or ground transportation on a trailer. The boat is normally fitted with a small outboard motor for docking and maneuvering. The cuddy cabin has two small portlights. The mast, boom and gaff are designed for quick raising and lowering, while on the trailer or while afloat. All spars remain attached and lower onto a transom-mounted boom gallows. The mast has a steel hinge, secured by a pin.

Tohatsu 6 HP 4-stroke engine with a long shaft and prop designed for small sail boats. Check out this 2008 Com-Pac SunCat 17. A very nice little daysailer sailboat with a trailer. This boat is the perfect size for a day on the lake with your family. Has room for 4 adults in the cockpit. Sleeps 2 people in the cabin and has a porta-potty in the cabin. This boat is a very stable sailboat. The wide beam and shape of the hull make this one so stable. This is also easy for one person to sail. To set up after putting in the water only takes 15 minutes. The mast is already attached-all you do is pop it up and raise the sail. The boat features a 2008 Tohatsu 6 HP 4-stroke outboard tiller motor. The cabin has 2 ports and a porta-potty. Aft seating for 6. VHF marine radio and antenna. 12-volt battery. Cushions inside and cockpit cushions. Best of all, the SunCat sails really well. 2004 Com-Pac Sun Cat Clark Mills wanted to design a shoal daysailer that would rig and sail easily, quickly, and comfortably as well as accommodate his family and friends. The Sun Cat was designed as an easily driven, roomy day boat with a shoal draft to gunk hole along coasts and in harbors not accessible to more burdensome yachts. Outfitted with the Mastendr quick rig sailing system and stainless steel centerboard with fiberglass trunk, the Sun Cat will provide convenient trailering and maintenance-free enjoyment. Individuals who appreciate timeless design and quality fabrication, who wish to explore coastal waters and quiet creeks, and who demand value from a yacht, will warmly relate to the "new tradition" that the Sun Cat Daysailer brings. Current owner bought this boat new and she was in solid shape. Comes complete with Performance Trailer and 5HP Honda 4-Stroke Outboard. The mainsail is loose footed with reef point - all lines leading aft. All exterior teak has been sanded down and finished with teak oil. She was epoxy barrier coated. This is simply a fun big little boat. The Sun Cat is a 17ft cat gaff rig sailboat. It has a shallow draft, a large, comfortable cockpit, and a comfortable cabin that has two berths. It's a very comfortable and safe boat that is easy to tow, set up, launch, sail, and retrieve. Its a big little boat. The boat is in good to very good condition. SPECIFICATIONS: Length overall: 17ft-4in Beam: 7ft-3in Displacement: 1500 lb. Draft (centerboard up): 18in Draft (centerboard down): 4ft-6in Sail area: 150 sf Dry Weight: 1,500 lb. The sail rig is a cat gaff, one sail, so it is easy to handle. It has jiffy reefing. Because it is a gaff rig, the mast is relatively short and does not extend beyond the end of the boat when it is down. The mast can be raised and lowered by one person in about a minute. It is hinged in the middle and the fore stay is equipped with a quick-locking attachment system. The hull bottom has an extra epoxy coat on it for durability. It also has anti-fouling bottom coat, which is due for a re-coat if you plan to keep it in the water. There are a couple of places on the bottom of the keel where the epoxy paint could be touched up - the fiberglass is fine. There is a stub keel with 300 lb of ballast for stability, and a centerboard. The rudder kicks up. The anchor is a Delta with chain and about 50ft of line. You will want to add more for deeper water. There is an anchor locker. All trim is teak. The cabin has cushions which are very comfortable for sleeping, a brand new porta-potty, and ample room for storage. There is a brand new battery and solar charger. There are running lights and an anchor light, and a light in the cabin. There is lots of storage! Forward, under the cabin seats, under the cockpit, under the cockpit seats. The cockpit seats are nicely cushioned. The motor is a 1975 Mercury 4hp 2-cycle. It starts easily and runs smoothly. I just bought it and will gladly take a few dollars off the price if you want me to keep it! The motor mount retracts.
