Royal Palm is looking for highly motivated students who have a desire to be exposed to food and beverage operations in a hands-on learning environment. Participants will learn in a rotational based program which pairs them with a food and beverage manager or director as a mentor. They will obtain trainings in four different styles of Member dining as well as events, banquets, and more.

The future success of the Private Club Industry is relies on the next generation of Club professionals, this program is designed to build our future leaders through an immersive hands-on learning experience.  As a smaller club with a maximum of 4 interns per summer the internship experience is tailored to the individual and their interests. What you put into this internship is what you will gain from it! Interns will also have the opportunity to attend FLCMAA Summer Conference during the summer internship.

Candidate Qualifications

Position Title: Club Management Intern

Requirements: Applicant is currently enrolled in a 4-year hospitality program or comparable and has had prior experience in food and beverage, preferable in a private club setting.

Program Length: May – August, consistent with undergraduate break schedule

Compensation:

•  $18/hr
• Hourly performance based incentive pay
• FREE Housing

Housing Cost:

• Program includes FREE housing
• Apartments are fully furnished and housing includes utilities and wifi
• Housing is located 1.2 miles from the Club
• Walking distance to the beach, Trader Joe’s, Publix, many restaurants and bars

Transportation: Responsibility of applicant.

Scheduling and Availability: Applicant must have open availability and will be full-time (35+ hours/week) for the duration of the internship.

Uniform Requirements: Interns participating in the program will be required to provide their own black non-slip shoes, all-white sneakers, black work pants, and navy blue work pants both in a straight-leg fit. All other uniform requirements will be provided.

Mentorship: Each intern will be assigned a Food & Beverage Manager or Director as their mentor during the program. They will complete weekly check-ins and be paired with them for their manager shadowing shifts.

Rotational Program: To receive a well-rounded training, interns will rotate through F&B positions at Royal Palms dining outlets including;

• Harbor Grille
• Waypoint Lounge
• Banquets and Events

Management and other Department Exposure: Interns will be scheduled shifts where they wear business attire and shadow their mentor manager for the day, learning about their day to day tasks and responsibilities. Interns will attend weekly BEO and F&B Meetings. As a smaller club Royal Palm is able to afford interns more opportunity for engagement and face time with the management team.

Interns may also spend time with the following departments where they can see how they operate in a private club setting; Golf, Fitness, Junior Palmers Kids Camp, Culinary, Marina, Catering & Events, Concierge, Administration, Communications, Culinary, Golf Course Maintenance, Assistant General Manager. At the close of the program, interns will have a one-on-one sit down with the General Manager which will give them an opportunity to gain wisdom from an industry leader.

Restaurant Research Project: Intern and mentor will dine at an assigned local restaurant. The intern will then present about the experience and restaurant at a weekly F&B meeting.

Member Engagement Event Project: Each intern will come up with an idea for an event or program that will engage Members with the RP F&B program. They will plan this idea from start to finish and present the idea with supporting logistics at a weekly F&B meeting.

Book Club/Report

Involvement: Interns will attend FLCMAA Summer Conference with the management team, and attend a young professional’s mixer event hosted by local south Florida clubs.

Continuing Opportunities: Interns who successfully complete the internship program will be invited back to participate in a ‘winternship’ program over college/university winter break periods. Additionally there is opportunity for a second year internship with more growth and responsibility as well as post-graduate opportunities.

RPYCC History

Over a half-century has passed since Arthur Vining Davis’s vision for a prestigious and luxurious community unlike any other became a reality. In 1958 he was Chairman of the Aluminum Company of America. He was a genius who had done more to develop the production and use of aluminum throughout the world than any other individual. At the time, he had a personal need for cash and decided to sell off part of his estimated 100,000 acres of land holdings in Florida. For this purpose, the Arvida Corporation was formed, the name Arvida being an acronym for Arthur Vining Davis. A proper business titan, Arthur Vining Davis was diminutive, kindly, gentle, and smiling. He took great pride in developing the Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club.

Royal Palm Security

Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club is one of the oldest communities in South Florida – and one of the newest. Many of the original houses have been replaced with substantially larger homes. Security is very important to our residents – both those who live full time in our community as well as our seasonal residents.

Security in Royal Palm is provided by a private security staff managed by the Royal Palm Improvement Association. Royal Palm Security has an authorized staff of 23 State of Florida certified armed officers who patrol the community and respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The security force has four patrol vehicles, plus three bicycles specially equipped for police use.

To deliver the best quality service to our community by providing assistance and protection to the members and their property, by promoting a safe environment and maintaining a general air of tranquility throughout the community.

Our vision for the future is to maintain a team-oriented approach by empowering our officers to contribute to the constant improvement and success of our organization. We strive to be the best security force in the State of Florida.

“Service and Professionalism” The primary mission of the RPIA force is the safety and protection of our residents, guest, property, and community while striving to deliver superior service to those we serve. We proudly report our success in maintaining a safe community by utilizing a proactive community policing philosophy in partnership with the residents of the Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club community. Our training and specialized certifications allow residents to select from a wide variety of services offered on an “as needed” basis. The ability to select from those services and the immediate response of RPIA Officers to the concerns of residents is sighted as a major reason for living in the Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club community. It is our goal to exceed expectations through our motto “Service and Professionalism” at all times.

The RPIA force consist of 23 armed, highly trained and dedicated professionals who utilize advanced training, four fully equipped patrol vehicles, a golf cart, and bicycles to continually patrol the streets, golf course and community perimeter. These proactive patrol techniques coupled with modern surveillance equipment allows RPIA Officers to deliver superior service to our residents, guests, and our community.

Our primary mission and goals are met through dedication to “Service and Professionalism” which allows us to complete our duties with Professionalism, Integrity, and Enthusiasm. We fully accept the responsibilities associated with protecting the RPIA residents, guest, property, and community. We are committed to our motto “Service and Professionalism” which is always at the forefront of our actions.

Chief Alfred J. Musco

Chief Alfred J. Musco is a 44-year law enforcement officer, who retired from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office in 2015 after completing a 31-year career. During his career, he was promoted through the ranks attaining the rank of Major in 2001. As a Major, he held senior executive command assignments in the Divisions of Patrol, Investigations, Training, Organizational Development and Administration.

Chief Musco received his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida, a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management and Leadership from Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida and a Graduate Certificate in Criminal Justice and Leadership from the University of Virginia Charlottesville, Virginia.

Chief Musco is a graduate of the FBI National Academy 219Th session Quantico, Virginia, the Senior Management Institute for Police Executives 34Th Session Boston, Massachusetts, the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Program 66Th session Quantico, Virginia and the Drug Enforcement Administration Basic DEA Training 36Th session Miami, Florida.

During his career, Chief Musco has been recognized by municipal, civic and private entities for his work in community crime reduction programs, police-community relations and community-civic quality of life improvement programs. He has received several municipal and civic awards along with numerous law enforcement commendations throughout his career. In 2021, Chief Musco was honored and recognized as a life member of the International Association of the Chiefs of Police Association.

Chief Musco currently serves as a Reserve Deputy with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and is an adjunct professor at several local colleges and universities. He is married with two adult children and two grandchildren.

The windy Russian autumn weather might be a little bit tricky for sailing, but it doesn’t stop brave yachtsmen from all over the world from flocking to Russian capital in the beginning of September when the Moscow Yacht Show commences. The main Russian Yacht exhibition gathers professional and amateur yacht lovers together under the wing of The Royal Yacht Club.

This year it took place for a fourth time already. The exhibition is considered the principal event on the sporting and social calendar. The Moscow Yacht Show 2010 united in one area three of the largest Russian yachts distributors: Ultramarine, Nordmarine and Premium Yachts.

A wide range of yachts were on display for a week. An exhibition showcased yachts both from Russian manufacturers and world famous brands: Azimut, Princess, Ferretti, Pershing, Riviera, Doral, Linssen, etc.

It was a real feast for seafarers as visitors of the show had a unique chance not only to take a look at the newest superyachts before they hit the market, but also to evaluate their driving advantages during the test drive. The show provided an excellent opportunity for yacht enthusiasts to choose and buy a new boat for the next season.

The event started with the grandiose gala evening. It included grand dinner, the concert and professional awards ceremony for achievements in Russian yachting industry. The guests also enjoyed the annual regatta.

Special guest Paolo Vitelli, Azimut Benetti Group president, opened the evening.

Next year organizers assured guests they would bring more yachts, the scale of which will even make oligarch Roman Abramovich envious. Sounds very promising indeed.

The game of golf is a sport that requires passion and expertise. It is also part of a culture that considers this pastime a synonym of social prestige and exclusivity. In recent years, the new Russian elite has turned to golf as a vehicle of integration in the era of globalization. The Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club is 18 miles from the heart of Moscow, close to historical monuments from the 17th and 18th centuries. Designed by famed architects Paul and Dave Thomas , this 18-hole course is part of a complex that includes a yacht club, an equestrian center, and a health and wellness facility. Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club is Russia’s version of a classic country club with multiple attractions.

Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club

This park is among the best in Eastern Europe and was awarded the 2014 World Golf Award as the best golf course in Russia. Located 25 miles from Moscow, it is part of a vast complex featuring an 18-hole golf course, designed by Jack Nicklaus , a polo club and a mountain ski club with four tracks. The design combines classic Scottish, Alpine, and English features in a dreamy landscape.

Less than 60 miles from Moscow, this golf course with a definite Scottish design is the only one in Russia recognized as a PGA (Professional Golfers’ Association) from Britain and Ireland. Located in an ecologically pristine area on the banks of the Volga River, the Zavidovo Golf Club embodies the spirit and appearance of the legendary Scottish golf courses. Its many springs and streams, hills, forests, swamps and lakes justify its reputation as a very demanding circuit.
