Yacht Week Croatia: the ultimate guide to what and when to wear

the-yacht-week-croatia

When I went for yacht week a few years ago, I did not have any expectations and I packed the same outfits I would generally take on any other beach vacation. However, I felt unprepared all the time and wish someone would have told me not only what to pack but what to wear to the themed parties. This ultimate Yacht Week (YW) outfits guide has you covered!

Day 1: Trogir marina – Padre bar

Woohoo, you’ve made it to TYW Croatia ! This is your first day at the marina where you meet your skipper and the YW crew. Check-in takes place between 1-4 pm, once done you can get to know your crew and enjoy a cold beverage at the marina cafe. Your yacht will be accessible by 6 pm.

Wear something casual today because you will have a long day full of unpacking, setting up your room, and grocery shopping for the upcoming trip.

the-yacht-week-croatia

Once set, upscale your look to a casual elegant attire. I would say rather casual than elegant  – a silk top or a jumpsuit but no heels or dresses. Why? You will be getting to the opening party at the Padre Bar via a dingy, so you will appreciate comfy shoes and shorts/skorts.  It is a cool (but a bit sketchy) open-air bar located in medieval ruins.

Day 2: Trogir – Vis

You probably woke up when the boat was on its way to Vis. The sea breeze feels amazing so put on a swimsuit and get a tan on the deck for the day. When you dock you can either chill on a floatie until dinner or go explore the town.

the-yacht-week-croatia

If you picked the second option, after wandering around Vis, head straight to the dinner followed by a party at Fort George. It is one of the most beautiful locations in Croatia with stunning 360 views. That said, the outfits should be on point! The theme for the night is Tropical Retro. Here are some outfit inspiration ideas:

Please avoid the following outfits: swimsuits, wank tops, vests, nudity/ transparent clothing, or novelty onesies.

Day 3: Vis to Hvar (St Tropez of Croatia)

Hvar is called the Saint Tropez of Croatia for a reason. You will start your day with a party in the middle of the sea! Grab a funny swimsuit and a floatie for a Circle Raft. It is Yacht Week’s iconic party where all the yachts circle around a famous DJ in the middle.

Yacht Week's iconic Circle Raft party

Bring tons of sunscreen, a one-piece swimsuit, minimum jewelry, a hat, and a pair of shades that you are ok to lose. I was not ready for this party at all, so here are some funny swimsuits I can imagine wearing (I wish someone else would have prepared this outfit guide before):

In the afternoon, dress casually to explore Hvar, eat dalmatian seafood, or enjoy a cocktail in the Laganini cabanas amongst the trees. Hvar is a two-day stop, so take it easy on your first-day explorations and meet other yacht weekers for a sunset party at the Hula Hula beach bar. It is said that there is no better place to watch the sunset than there. When the sun goes down, find a dinner spot in town, then head to a tiny Kiva Bar – a YW favorite spot.

Day 4: Palmizana, Hvar

In the morning put on your activewear for HIIT Class or join a Run club and hit the trains of Palmizana.

Explore Hvar, visit the fortress, and wine cellars, grab lunch on the Riva, and then join the Riviera Chic Party. Or come back to your yacht after lunch, freshen up and catch a transfer over to Carpe Diem Beach for the party.

the-yacht-week-croatia

Nothing says summer like white! Riviera Chic Party is YW’s famous white party, so put on your best whites, be beautiful, and elegant, sip champagne and get ready to be snapped like a celebrity!

Think classy white or stylish stripes and nautical colors to achieve an effortlessly 1950s chic look. Avoid tank tops (men), swimwear, flip-flops, or beachwear.

the-yacht-week-croatia

After the party wander around the cobbled streets of Hvar and stop at one of the restaurants for some food with your crew.

Day 5: Hvar – Bol

Explore the beautiful town of Bol, walking along its lovely seafront promenade all the way to the Golden Horn beach.

the-yacht-week-croatia

Put on your sportswear to do a free yoga class in the afternoon, play beach volleyball, and participate in parasailing, water tubing, and other beach activities.

the-yacht-week-croatia

In the evening, dress casually and sip a cocktail at Auro Beach Bar or explore the Roman ruins in the woods over the beach.

Have dinner and get ready to catch the free transfer to the party at Club 585.

Day 6: Bol to Starigrad

From Bol, you will be heading to one of Croatia’s beautiful natural bays, raft all the yachts together and stay overnight on a yacht watching the shooting stars.

Prepare your floatie and a swimsuit for another traditional yacht week-style tunnel raft party at Starigrad Bay with a DJ. Enjoy the party drifting from the yacht to yacht on your floaties.

the-yacht-week-croatia

Return to your yacht, cook dinner onboard, have a relaxing evening together, play board games, and read books. Get a blanket and lay on deck watching shooting stars and falling asleep – where else you can have such a magical experience!

Day 7: Stari Grad to Trogir – Regatta Day

the-yacht-week-croatia

The Yachtweek Regatta is one of the biggest events of the week and my personal favorite! All the boats sail together while each crew shows off their costumes in an attempt to win the best theme. Throw on your wigs, deck your crew out and get ready for a regatta day – this is what you brought fun dress costumes for!

Regatta winners are chosen based on sailing time, atmosphere onboard, clothing and decorations. So, think of something big, bright, and catchy for the costumes, easy dance moves, and music on board. Ideally, you should pick a theme and dance or at least make some synchronized moves! My favorites were “Bae Watch” (a few boats had them), butterflies with big wings, and an Aladdin-inspired theme.

the-yacht-week-croatia

In the evening when you return back to Marinas – pack your bag, clean the yacht and get ready for a Closing party where the Regatta winner team will be announced.

8 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOU GO ON THE YACHT WEEK

This post may contain affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. We may receive a small commission when you make a purchase using our link.

Have you heard of The Yacht Week ? If not then let me introduce you to what could be the best week of your life. Back in 2014 I spent a week sailing around Greece on an all girls Yacht Week boat. We had an incredible time but there were some things I wish I would have known before the trip that could have made it even better. So here are eight things you should know before you go on The Yacht Week!

1) THE YACHT WEEK COULD BE THE BEST WEEK OF YOUR LIFE – JUST GO!

As you can see from the video above The Yacht Week looks like a lot of fun, and it is! This video is of The Yacht Week Greece trip I was on featuring some clips of our boat. I booked with one of my friends and prior to the tip I hadn’t met any of the other girls who were going to be on our sailboat. All the girls turned out to be awesome and we all made fast friends.

If you can’t get a group of friends together to book your own sailboat don’t let that stop you from going on The Yacht Week. Just find one friend to go with you and book a two-person cabin! You’ll make new friends, and have the time of your life, especially after reading all my tips so you’ll know what to expect.

2) THE YACHT WEEK IS MORE ABOUT PARTYING THAN SAILING

The Yacht Week is basically one big floating festival! If you want to have a serious week of peaceful sailing then The Yacht Week is probably not for you. You will sail from location to location but you’ll spend a lot more time partying than sailing on most of The Yacht Week routes. You need to be in the right frame of mind for this prior to the trip. So if you plan on going on The Yacht Week put your party hat on and be ready to have some fun!

3) CHOOSE YOUR YACHT WEEK ROUTE BASED ON PACE

You’ll likely look at The Yacht Week website and see a destination you want to go to and decide this is the route you want to take. I advise against this. In order to have the best time possible book a route based on the pace you want to go at.

Since I went on The Yacht Week they have added several new routes including an Italy route which they are marketing as slower paced for “sophisticated sailors and the food fanatics.” I have only been on the Greece route so I can’t vouch for this claim but if you want to do less partying, and more sailing and exploring, booking the Italy route seems like the way to go.

The Greece route I went on is labeled at a mid paced route. I love music and parties but I personally would have preferred more sailing and sight-seeing. Based on my experience, I would describe the mid paced Yacht Week routes (Greece, Montenegro and BVIs) as party routes and the fast paced routes (Croatia and Croatia Ultra) as ultra party routes.

4) SKIP SOME OF THE DAY PARTIES & EXPLORE

As I said above The Yacht Week, overall, is more about partying than anything else but you are visiting amazing places on all of their routes so I suggest skipping some of the parties and exploring your surroundings. On the Greece route there was a day party and a night party at each stop. When we docked at Hydra Island , my friend and I skipped the day party and explored the island which turned out to be one of my favorite days on the trip! There are plenty of parties so don’t worry about skipping some of them and opting to take in some sights and local culture instead.

5) SPLURGE ON A PREMIUM SAILBOAT

This is a gross topic but I have to bring it up because I would never want anyone to be in the same situation the girls on my boat were on. Our Yacht Week boat was a cheaper, economy sailboat and it was not equipped for us to be able to do anything besides pee in the toilets. That’s right, we did not have proper use of toilets on our boat for an entire week! Because of this my friend and I ended up renting several hotel rooms during Yacht Week (read Nikki Beach Porto Heli and Hotel Miranda Hydra Island ) just so we could have use of a toilet and shower.

So what is the moral of this story? Don’t go for the cheapest boat you can find. There are now four types of yachts you can book with The Yacht Week – Economy, Standard, Premium and Premium Plus. Spend the extra money to book a premium sailboat, and check that you’ll have unrestricted use of the toilet onboard before you book.

6) THE YACHT WEEK IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN YOU THINK

I budgeted around $75 a day for food, drinks and extras for our seven-day trip and quickly realized this was not going to be enough. Upon arrival we were told we needed to go shopping for costumes for the sailing competition and parties. Next, we had to put money in for the “Kitty Fund,” which is food and drinks for the boat for the week. We also had to pitch in money to tip our skipper and pay for gas for the boat.

At The Yacht Week parties you usually get one or two free drinks with your wristband, but after, that you have to pay for your drinks. Drinking every day can get expensive, especially if you want to splurge on bottle service. If you plan to drink and eat out and don’t want to worry about running out of money, you should plan to spend around $130 USD/day.

$150 Kitty $50 Costumes $525 ($75/Day Restaurants + Cocktails x 7 Days) $100 Gas/Tip for Skipper $100 Bottle Service _______ $925 TOTAL

7) YOUR SAILBOAT WILL GET DIRTY REALLY QUICKLY

We had an all-girls crew and our sailboat still got very dirty every day. In order to keep your boat from becoming filthy get everyone on your boat to agree from the start to all help clean. If everyone pitches in, it takes less than 20 minutes a day to keep your boat clean. Do your dishes right after you are done eating, and keep all your personal stuff in your own cabin. No one wants to spend a week in a tiny cramped, dirty space. This is the real Yacht Week v. your Instagram Yacht Week

8) CHOOSE WHO YOU BOOK WITH WISELY

The last thing you want to do is go on what could be the week of your life with someone who can’t go with the flow, relax and enjoy an adventure. If you’re booking a two-person cabin with a friend make sure you are on the same page about what type of trip you both want to have.

If you can’t wait to get to The Yacht Week and party all week and your friend is looking for a peaceful, relaxing week of sailing and sightseeing it is not going to work. If your friend wants to do a luxury sailing trip but you want to book an economy sailboat to save money it is not going to work. This seems pretty obvious but I saw both of these scenarios happen and it is a buzz kill for everyone. Make sure you are on the same page with whoever you book The Yacht Week with, wether you are booking a two-person cabin or an entire sailboat.

Im about to book the Greece trip with a friend but now I am really concerned about the bathroom situation… can you maybe tell me a little bit more about that?

June 18, 2019 at 7:11 am

The boats have marine toilets; you can use them for #1 and #2, you just can’t flush anything else down them. So that means you have a baggie for toilet paper you throw out once or twice a day. It’s not ideal, but it’s not as bad as you might think, and you get used to it pretty quick. Plus, you’re on land a lot and can use regular toilets pretty much any time you’re not sailing.

Yacht Week Packing List: The Ultimate Packing List for TYW!

Croatia , Travel Tips

By Ryan Gargiulo

Looking for the Ultimate Yacht Week Packing list ? Well, I’ve got you covered.

Figuring out what to pack for Yacht Week can be quite challenging and one of the most important lessons that I learned from my first Yacht Week was that packing as little clothes as possible is almost mandatory.

Last updated: July 17,  2017

What is the Yacht Week?

If there’s one word that can be used to describe The Yacht Week, it would be unforgettable .

With endless parties, boats and a vast sea waiting for you to throw your floaty into, Yacht Week is a nonstop party with 48 or so boats filled with strangers from a variety of countries around the world.

Don’t Miss:   Yacht Week Croatia: Everything You Need to Know Before You Go

Fortunately, you won’t have to pack much clothes considering you’ll be living in your bathing suit or bikini so don’t bother packing extra pairs of jeans, shorts, hoodies, etc.

Instead…

You’re going to want to make room for what I call the “Yacht Week Necessities”, aka a short list of some of the best things to pack for the Yacht Week in order to really get the most out of the experience.

Whatever you do, do not leave home without packing at least a few, if not all of these Yacht Week must have’s.

Yacht Week Packing List

Yacht Week Packing List

Tortuga outbreaker backpack.

One of the biggest mistakes you can make in preparation for yacht week is overpacking.

It’s not you. It’s everyone else.

Most of your crew are going to overpack as well so if you plan ahead and only pack a carry-on bag for Yacht Week, you’ll be doing yourself and everyone else a favor by packing light.

Trust me when I tell you that no matter how big your Yacht is that space is going to be a really tight squeeze.

I highly recommend the Tortuga Outbreaker Backpack (Available sizes: 35L/45L).

I’ve owned the last two versions of this backpack and after picking up the latest and greatest edition, the Tortuga Outbreaker, I honestly can’t say enough about it.

The Outbreaker is my primary piece of luggage when I travel and it’s also the same backpack that I took with me on The Yacht Week.

After a few days of everyone tripping over each others belongings on our yacht, everyone wished they had picked up one of these bags.

Besides, other than a few bathing suits and a few of the cool things on this Yacht Week packing list, how much do you really need to take with you anyway?

You can read my in-depth review of the Tortuga Outbreaker or you can head on over and pick one up now by clicking on the button below.

Buy It Now Button

Tortuga Wet/Dry Bag

No matter where you travel to, a dry bag should always be at the top of your packing list.

During yacht week, these couldn’t be any more important.

The last thing you want is for your phone, credit cards, cash and sunglasses to end up waterlogged.

Oh, and let’s not forget that a dry bag will offer great protection against all of those spilled drinks aboard.

Simply insert your valuables that you don’t want to get wet and then roll and clip the bag to seal it. It’s that easy.

You can also clip the bag to a handle on your inflatable raft/float or a variety of stationary objects.

Tip:  Don’t leave without one of these!

Yacht Week Floats

Fun floats are no exception and are pretty much a must have on Yacht Week. Trust me. Everyone has one.

We’re not talking about the typical square or rectangle float that you use for your at home pool, we’re talking about everything from giant swans to ice cream cones, unicorns, donuts, pineapples, pizza slices and watermelons, orcas, poop emojis and more.

In other words, the more outrageous and eye catching the better!

If a crazy float isn’t at the top of your Yacht Week packing list, you’re doing it all wrong.

Check Prices Button

Intex Quick Fill Electric Pump

Because no one wants to sit there and waste their time filling up their float the old fashion way, you’ll want to make sure you also have one of these.

Not only are they easy to use, but they’re cheap as well. And besides, don’t we have better things to use our mouths for?

I’m talking about sipping our drinks, of course.

Anker Portable Battery Charger

Anker Portable Battery Charger

Small, lightweight, easy to pack and incredibly useful, this portable charger is a must have for your iPad and iPhone.

Because you’ll be out at sea, you’ll want a reliable way to charge your electronics.

Many of these have dual USB ports so you can charge two devices at the same time.

Some also have built in LED flashlights which come in handy for when you’re up late night searching for something in the dark.

Setting sail on Yacht Week without a backup portable battery charger is like forgetting your bathing suit. Don’t leave home without one.

GoPole Floating Selfie Stick

Heading to Yacht Week without your GoPro would be a huge mistake and not packing a floating selfie stick for your GoPro would be almost just as bad.

As one of the most popular travel and photography accessories on the market, the GoPole EVO is going to be the perfect solution for epic group selfies on Yacht Week.

Wave it around while you’re on the boat, hang it off the edge while you’re sailing to your next destination, even take it in the water with you as you float around with your friends.

Bunch O Balloons – Rapid Filler

Remember the times when it took an hour to fill 25 water balloons?

Not anymore, my friends.

Some genius decided that you should be able to fill 100 water balloons in less than 60 seconds.

Yeah, you read that right. Fill up 100 ballons per minute with Bunch O Balloons and get to tossing.

Oh, and don’t forget to pick yourself up a water balloon launcher  for long distance shots at sea.

Quick Dry Microfiber Towel

Microfiber towels not only dry super fast but they’re also great for those who are looking to pack as light as possible.

Forget bringing an actual beach towel. Those take up far too much room.

This specific microfiber towel packs into the size of a coffee mug. Now we’re talking.

Fast drying and super lightweight microfiber is really the only way to go on Yacht Week.

Waterproof Pouch for iPhone

One of the worst and most common things that occurs during Yacht Week is people dropping their phones in the sea.

Unfortunately, it happens all the time.

Nowadays there’s really no excuse for mistakenly dropping your phone in the sea considering the wide variety of waterproof cases and dry bags on the market.

Here’s an ultra budget friendly option when it comes to keeping your phone protected from the elements.

Pick up one of these cases and rest assured that your phone will remain safe and dry during Yacht Week.

Looking for next level protection? Check out these LifeProof cases .

Country Flag

It’s time to represent!

One of the coolest parts of yacht week is getting to party with people from around the world.

The best way to know where someone is from is to take a look at their country flag.

Don’t have one? You better run out and get one now, they’re a must have for everyone on board and should be on everyones Yacht Week packing list.

Does your boat have air conditioning?

If not, you’re definitely going to want to purchase one of these mini fans before you go.

Even though nightfall means saying goodbye to the sun, it doesn’t always mean saying goodbye to the heat.

Yacht Week yachts get boiling hot at night and what sleep you do get will really depend on how comfortable and cool you are.

Also, because of their small size, mini fans something I highly recommend for light weight packing for Yacht Week.

25 Assorted Squirt Guns

Once you grow tired of the water balloons, if that’s even possible, you’ll want to mix things up and add a few squirt guns to your arsenal.

They’re small, lightweight, easy to use and even easier to pack.

Hand a few of these out to friends and bring them along with you when you’re chilling on your rafts in the center of the Yacht Week circle.

Even better? They’re cheap. Grab yours now.

Some people can handle rough seas while others have serious issues involving dizziness, nasuea and more.

Do you get seasick?

The reason I’m listing this as a Yacht Week necessity is because I saw a lot of people wearing these over the course of the week and when I asked them if it was working for them, everyone seemed to be more than satisfied.

Be sure to keep in mind that long days of drinking and sunshine on a boat may take its toll.

With a Seaband, you’ll be able to manage your sea sickness and keep yourself feeling grounded while you’re at it.

Captain’s Hats

Aye aye, Captain.

You’re on a yacht, right? Now it’s time to make sure that you look the part.

Captain’s hats are very popular on Yacht Week. Sometimes you’ll see entire boats wearing them.

They’re somewhat cool looking, fun to wear and an awesome ice breaker when making new friends.

And who says that you can’t wear them off the boat? You might have just found your new favorite party accessory.

Thermarest Compressible Pillow

A compressible travel pillow is not only something you can use on your travels but it’s also something you’ll find very useful when you do find a few minutes to catch up on your sleep during Yacht Week.

These pillows are extremely comfortable, easy to pack and in my opinion, a great addition for your Yacht Week packing list.

Glow In The Dark Body Paint

Do I really need to explain this one? Okay. Let me tell you why glow in the dark body paint is a must for Yacht Week.

It’s fun.

It’s hands-on.

Why? Because girls love  this stuff.

Glow in the dark body paint is an instant hit on Yacht Week, especially for the late night parties. It’s also a great conversation starter.

Paint bodies, play games, and dance through the night glowing under the moonlight.

Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker

Music is a huge part of Yacht Week so having your own portable waterproof speaker is an absolute must when packing for Yacht Week.

You can play DJ while you’re floating around in the sea with your friends and not have to worry about the speaker getting waterlogged.

Pair this speaker with your iPhone via Bluetooth and you’re in business. It’s really as easy as that.

Power Inverter/Charger

If you plan on bringing your laptop, you’ll definitely want to pick up a power inverter like this one.

This awesome Yacht Week accessory can charge and power your laptop and the rest of your devices so you can be sure to never run out of battery during the week.

This specific model also has dual 3.1A USB charging ports and connects via a 12V cigarette lighter socket.

Add one of these to your Yacht Week packing list. You won’t regret it.

JOBY Gorillapod

Great for mounting your camera just about anywhere, the JOBY Gorillapod is something I carry around the world with me.

My Gorillapod came in handy more than a few times on Yacht Week, especially when I wanted to capture a group photo and I was able to wrap the legs of the Gorillapod around a pole on the yacht and save the day.

With this you’ll be able to capture unique angles, time lapses and much, much more. If you’re into that sort of thing, that is.

Solar LED Lights for Your Yacht

Whether you’re renting your own yacht with a group of friends or joining one, these solar LED lights are always a good idea to separate your yacht from the rest.

Not only will you be able to light up your common areas on the yacht to keep the party going, but you’ll save money by avoiding using the boat’s electricity.

As you know, it’s sunshine all day on Yacht Week so you never have to worry about your solar lights not lasting the night.

Wrap yourself in these at the party and you’ll definitely stand out in the crowd.

Hanging Toiletry Kit

Hanging toiletry kits are without a doubt a great investment, not just for Yacht Week but for general travel as well.

Hanging toiletry kits make it incredibly simple to hang, pack and carry all your most important sprays, gels, creams, combs, face wipes and more.

Toss in your toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, body wash and shampoo and you’re good to go.

Oh, and this specific toiletry kit is very reasonably priced. Get yours now!

Flag Sunglasses

Don’t forget your shades!

If you’re planning on dressing as fun and wild as possible, American flag sunglasses like these should help do the trick.

Why just have regular run of the mill sunglasses when you can make a fashion statement and represent your country at the same time?

There are a variety of countries to choose from, not just the USA. Check them out today.

Well, that’s about it for this Yacht Week packing list — I hope you found it to be helpful!

TYW looks like such an incredible time- loving these items!

Great list of essential things to have when travelling. Great article as always!

Great list! Me and my friends are super excited to go this summer. Definitely a lot of things on here I didn’t think of. Going shopping asap.

Thanks Jonathan. Yeah, that’s exactly why I created this Yacht Week Packing List — because there are so many things that are necessary that you would have never thought of taking with you. Best of luck!

Incredible guide Ryan, going this summer and your list definitely has some great items I hadn’t have thought of yet…or would have thought to bring. Thank you good sir!

Thanks Trevor. I’m so glad that you found it to be helpful. Honestly, I created this packing list because after I finished Yacht Week I realized how many things I wished that I had taken with me on the trip. A list like this would have been absolute game changer! Now I’m simply passing on the good karma.

Hey, question: what size flags did y’all bring for the boat? Is 3’ x 5’ too small?

Unfortunately, I don’t remember the size of the flags we took with us. I would say 3’x 5′ would be sufficient though.

Odd question, but we’re you able to find strawberry margarita mix at the grocery store in Split?

Unfortunately, I’m really not sure about that. I would say it might be difficult to find there.

Additionally, consider bringing a small first aid kit with basics like band-aids, pain relievers, motion sickness tablets, and any prescription medication you may require.
  • Electronics: While you're out on the yacht, you may want to capture beautiful moments or listen to music. Don't forget to pack a waterproof camera or a water-resistant cover for your phone. Additionally, bring a portable charger to ensure that your electronic devices stay powered up throughout the trip.
  • Entertainment: Yacht week offers plenty of opportunities for fun and relaxation, but it's also good to have some entertainment options on board. Consider bringing a good book, a deck of cards, or any other games or activities that you enjoy.
  • Snorkeling Gear: Yacht week often involves exploring breathtaking underwater landscapes. If you enjoy snorkeling, pack your snorkel, mask, and fins to make the most of these experiences. Some yacht companies may provide snorkeling gear, but it's always good to have your own to ensure a perfect fit.
  • Towels and Bedding: Although most charter yachts provide towels and bedding, it's always a good idea to pack some extra towels for beach outings or as a backup. Additionally, bring a lightweight sleeping bag or blanket if you prefer having your own bedding.

Remember to pack all your items in a soft-sided bag as it is easier to store on the yacht. It's advisable to pack light and only bring necessities to avoid cluttering up the limited storage space on the yacht.

In conclusion, packing for yacht week requires a balance between practicality and comfort. By including the essential items mentioned above, you'll be well-prepared to make the most of your yacht week adventure. So, pack your bags and get ready for an unforgettable experience on the open waters!

Yacht week is a popular vacation experience that involves sailing on a luxurious yacht and exploring various destinations along the coast. This type of vacation requires careful planning and preparation, including packing the right clothing items and accessories. While the specific items you'll need may vary depending on the location and time of year, there are a few essential items that you should consider bringing along.

  • Swimwear: Yacht week is all about spending time in and around the water, so packing plenty of swimwear is a must. Bring a variety of swimsuits for different activities, such as lounging on the yacht, swimming, and participating in water sports. Opt for quick-drying and durable fabrics, as you'll likely be wearing your swimwear for long periods of time.
  • Cover-ups: When you're not in the water, it's essential to have stylish and comfortable cover-ups to protect your skin from the sun and provide some coverage. Consider packing lightweight dresses, sarongs, or kaftans that can easily be thrown over your swimsuit.
  • Sunhat and sunglasses: Protecting yourself from the sun is crucial during yacht week. Bring a wide-brimmed sunhat to shield your face and neck from the sun's rays, and don't forget to pack a sturdy pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes.
  • Lightweight and breathable clothing: While you'll be spending most of your time in your swimwear, it's still important to pack some lightweight and breathable clothing for when you're off the yacht. Opt for loose-fitting dresses, shorts, and tops made from natural fibers like cotton or linen to keep cool in the warm weather.
  • Nautical-inspired clothing: Yacht week has a certain nautical charm, so why not embrace it with your clothing choices? Pack some striped t-shirts, navy blue shorts, and white dresses to channel the classic yacht aesthetic. Additionally, don't forget to bring some boat shoes or sandals that are versatile and comfortable for walking on land.
  • Versatile accessories: When it comes to accessories for yacht week, versatility is key. Bring a selection of statement jewelry pieces that can easily elevate your outfits. Don't forget to pack a beach bag that can carry your essentials for day trips and excursions. Additionally, bring a lightweight scarf or wrap that can double as a cover-up or a shawl for chilly evenings.
  • Waterproof phone case: Yacht week is the perfect opportunity to capture stunning photos and share your experiences on social media. However, it's important to protect your phone from water damage. Invest in a waterproof phone case that allows you to take photos and videos underwater without worrying about damaging your device.
  • Non-slip shoes: While yacht week may involve a lot of time spent on the yacht, there will also be opportunities to explore destinations on land. Make sure to bring a pair of non-slip shoes for walking around town or participating in water activities such as paddleboarding or snorkeling.

Remember, the specific clothing items and accessories you'll need for yacht week may vary depending on the location and time of year. It's always a good idea to check the weather forecast and research the activities and destinations you'll be visiting to ensure you pack appropriately. By packing the right clothing items and accessories, you can make the most of your yacht week experience and enjoy the luxurious and stylish vacation.

Packing Essentials for a Trip to Caladesi Island: Your Ultimate Guide

When packing for Yacht Week, it's important to consider the type of shoes that will be suitable for the various activities you'll be participating in. Yacht Week typically involves a mix of partying, exploring, and water-based activities, making it crucial to pack the right footwear to ensure both comfort and safety. In this article, we will discuss the different types of shoes that should be packed for Yacht Week, taking into account scientific recommendations, personal experience, step-by-step considerations, and providing examples of suitable options.

Scientific recommendations:

When it comes to footwear for Yacht Week, it's essential to prioritize functionality and comfort. Scientifically, shoes that provide good grip and stability on wet surfaces should be favored to prevent slips and falls. Non-slip soles with adequate traction are crucial, especially during water-based activities. Additionally, shoes with quick-drying materials or water-resistant features can minimize discomfort from constantly being in contact with water.

Personal experience:

Based on personal experiences of previous Yacht Week participants, a collection of versatile shoes is necessary. This includes a mix of casual shoes for lounging or partying, as well as practical options for exploring and water activities. It's important to strike a balance between comfort, style, and functionality.

Step-by-step considerations:

To determine what type of shoes to pack, consider the following steps:

Step 1: Assess the itinerary: Analyze the planned activities for Yacht Week. Are there any hiking or beach excursions? Will you be participating in water sports or spending time on the yacht? Identify the specific needs based on the activities involved.

Step 2: Prioritize safety: Given that Yacht Week involves a considerable amount of time spent on wet surfaces, prioritize safety by packing shoes with good grip and non-slip soles. This will help prevent accidents and ensure stability while moving around the yacht or engaging in water activities.

Step 3: Pack casual shoes: Bring a few pairs of comfortable, casual shoes for lounging, partying, and exploring nearby towns or cities. Sneakers, boat shoes, or sandals are popular options as they provide comfort and style.

Step 4: Include water-friendly shoes: To fully enjoy water-based activities, pack water shoes or sandals. These are designed to protect your feet from sharp rocks, shells, or any potential hazards lurking in the water, while also ensuring quick drying and breathability.

Step 5: Don't forget the essentials: Pack a pair of flip-flops for general use around the yacht, especially when moving between wet and dry areas. These are lightweight, easy to clean, and perfect for casual wear.

Examples of suitable shoes for Yacht Week:

  • Boat shoes: These provide excellent traction, comfort, and style. They are perfect for exploring nearby towns or cities and can easily transition from day to night.
  • Sneakers: Opt for lightweight sneakers with good grip and breathability. They offer versatility and comfort for a range of activities both on and off the yacht.
  • Water shoes/sandals: These are specifically designed for water activities and provide protection and grip on slippery surfaces. Look for options with quick-drying materials and a secure fit.
  • Flip-flops: Essential for lounging on deck or going to the beach. They are easy to slip on and off and can handle water exposure.

In conclusion, when packing for Yacht Week, it's crucial to consider the specific activities you'll be participating in and prioritize safety and comfort. A combination of casual shoes, water-friendly options, and essentials like flip-flops will ensure you are prepared for the various activities throughout the week. Remember to choose shoes with good grip, stability, and quick-drying properties to fully enjoy your Yacht Week experience.

Essential Items to Pack for a Vacation to Grand Cayman

When embarking on a sailing adventure like Yacht Week, it's important to come prepared with all the necessary toiletries and personal care items to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience. While there may not be any specific toiletries exclusive to yacht week, there are a few items that are highly recommended for this type of trip.

  • Sunscreen: The sun's rays can be especially strong out on the open water, so it's crucial to have a good sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Look for a sunscreen with a high SPF rating, and don't forget to reapply regularly, especially if you plan on spending a lot of time outside.
  • Moisturizer: Spending time in saltwater and constant exposure to the sun can leave your skin feeling dry and dehydrated. Pack a good moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated and prevent it from becoming dry and flaky.
  • Lip balm: Just like your skin, your lips need protection from the harsh elements. Look for a lip balm with SPF to keep your lips moisturized and prevent them from getting chapped or sunburned.
  • Insect repellent: Depending on the location and time of year, you may encounter bugs and mosquitoes while on your yacht week. Pack an insect repellent to keep these pesky insects at bay and prevent itchy bites.
  • Sea sickness medication: If you are prone to motion sickness, it's a good idea to bring along some seasickness medications. While being on a yacht may not be as rough as being on a smaller boat, the movement of the water can still cause discomfort for some people.
  • Travel-sized toiletries: To save space in your luggage, consider packing travel-sized toiletries. These mini-sized versions of your favorite products are compact and convenient for travel. Look for travel-sized bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and other essential toiletries.
  • Towels: While yachts typically provide towels for guests, it's always a good idea to bring a few extra towels of your own. This can come in handy if you plan on spending a lot of time on the beach or if you prefer to have a separate towel for swimming and showering.
  • Haircare essentials: Don't forget to pack your haircare essentials, including shampoo, conditioner, and any styling products you may use. Consider using travel-sized versions to save space, or transfer your favorite products into smaller, reusable containers.
  • First aid kit: It's always a good idea to have a basic first aid kit on hand, especially when you're out at sea. Pack essentials such as band-aids, antiseptic ointment, pain relievers, and any necessary prescription medications.
  • Personal hygiene items: Don't forget the basics like toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and any other personal hygiene items you typically use on a daily basis. These small items can easily be overlooked but are essential for maintaining good hygiene during your yacht week adventure.

Remember, when packing for yacht week, it's important to consider the limited space on board. Opt for travel-sized items when possible and try to pack efficiently. Planning ahead and making a checklist of the essential toiletries and personal care items will ensure that you have everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable yacht week experience.

Essential Packing List for a Trip to New York City

Yacht Week is an exciting adventure that allows people to travel and explore different destinations on a yacht. However, when it comes to packing and storing belongings on a yacht, it can be a challenge. Limited space and the constant motion of the sea make it crucial to pack efficiently and securely. In this article, we will discuss some tips on how to pack and store your belongings on a yacht during Yacht Week.

Choose the Right Luggage:

When packing for Yacht Week, it is important to choose the right luggage that is compact and easy to store. Opt for lightweight suitcases or duffle bags that can easily fit into the designated storage spaces on the yacht. Avoid using hard-sided suitcases or large bags that take up too much space.

Roll Your Clothes:

To save space and prevent wrinkles, roll your clothes instead of folding them. This technique allows you to fit more items into your luggage. Additionally, consider packing versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched, reducing the need for excessive outfits.

Use Packing Cubes or Vacuum Bags:

Investing in packing cubes or vacuum bags can be a game-changer when it comes to packing efficiently on a yacht. These tools help compress your clothes and create more space in your luggage. By compressing your clothes, you can fit more items without adding bulk to your bags.

Organize Essentials in a Day Bag:

To have easy access to essentials like sunscreen, sunglasses, and a change of clothes, pack them in a smaller day bag. This bag can be stored in the cabin or easily brought ashore during stops. This will help you avoid rummaging through your main luggage every time you need something.

Utilize Storage Spaces on the Yacht:

Yachts are designed with storage spaces in mind. Make use of these spaces intelligently to maximize the available room. Utilize the hanging storage compartments and hooks to hang clothes or store shoes. Folding clothes and storing them in the drawers or under the bed can also be an effective way to save space.

Secure Loose Items:

While on a yacht, it is important to secure loose items to prevent them from sliding around or getting lost. Use bungee cords or cords with hooks to secure items such as bags, towels, and shoes. This will help keep your belongings organized and prevent them from falling into the water.

Consider Waterproof Bags or Cases:

As you will be surrounded by water during Yacht Week, it is crucial to protect your belongings from any potential water damage. Consider investing in waterproof bags or cases to store electronics, documents, and other valuable items. This will provide an extra layer of protection and peace of mind.

Remember, while packing and storing belongings on a yacht during Yacht Week, it is important to prioritize functionality and organization. By following the tips mentioned above, you can ensure that your belongings are secure, easily accessible, and well-protected throughout your Yacht Week adventure.

Understanding the Meaning Behind Being Packing: Exploring Its Significance

Frequently asked questions.

What type of footwear should I bring for Yacht Week? It is recommended to pack a variety of footwear for different activities during Yacht Week. Bring comfortable walking shoes or sandals for exploring on land, as well as flip-flops or water shoes for swimming and beach excursions. It’s also a good idea to bring a pair of boat shoes with non-marking soles to wear on the yacht to prevent any damage.

Can I bring my own food and drinks on the yacht? While the exact policies may vary depending on the yacht charter company, it is typically allowed to bring your own food and drinks on the yacht. This can be a cost-effective option and also allows you to personalize your meals and drink choices. However, you should check with your yacht charter company beforehand to ensure there are no specific restrictions or guidelines.

THE TRUTH ABOUT YACHT WEEK | 6 Things To Know Before You Go

Last summer, my friend and I spent a week exploring Croatia, Slovenia and Montenegro then met up with Kiersten ‘The Blonde Abroad’ and the rest of our all-girls crew for a week of sailing in Greece with The Yacht Week . As a whole, I loved the experience, but there were several things I wish I would have know prior to booking the trip that would have allowed me to enjoy it to the fullest. So here are 6 things you should know before you go on Yacht Week.

Yacht-Week-Vanessa-Rivers

1) The Yacht Week will be more expensive than you think!

I budgeted around $75 a day for food and drinks for our seven day trip and quickly realized that that was not going to be enough. Upon arriving, we were told we needed to go shopping for costumes for the sailing competition and parties. Next, we had to put money in for the “Kitty Fund,” which is food and drinks for the boat for the week. We also had to pitch in money to tip our skipper and pay for gas for the boat. At the parties you usually get 1 or 2 free drinks with your wristband, but after, that you pay for your drinks. So it can get expensive, especially if you want to splurge on bottle service. It’s nice to have a heads up on all this so you can budget accordingly. Bottom line: if you plan to drink and eat out and don’t want to worry about running out of money, you should plan to spend around $130 USD/day. Here’s a quick budget breakdown…

$150 Kitty $50 Costumes $525 ($75/Day Restaurants + Drinks x 7 Days) $100 Gas/Tip for Skipper $100 Bottle Service _______ $925 TOTAL

2) The Yacht Week is more about partying and less about sailing

Yes, you will sail from island to island (my favorite part of the trip!), but the main focus of Yacht Week is the parties they throw. There is a big welcome party the night you arrive, and for the rest of the trip, there are day parties and night parties every single day. I didn’t fully understand this coming into the trip so I wasn’t in the right frame of mind, but once I realized the basic agenda was sailing from party to party, I was able to just go with the flow and also plan some other stuff I wanted to do, without feeling like I was going to miss out.

With that said, I highly recommend skipping one or two of the day parties and exploring instead. On the Greece Route , forget the day party at Love Bay Beach (it’s a dirt beach and not that pretty) and check out Poros! There is a lot to see and you only get one night there, so skip the day party and wander around this cute little town. Also, Hydra Island ( my favorite stop on the Greece Route ) is another must see! Definitely ditch the day party and spend your time exploring this magical place. There are so many gorgeous spots to take photos on both islands.

3) Unless you splurge on a bigger, nicer sailboat, you will not be able to use the toilet onboard for #2!

You can go pee on all the sailboats, but you can’t flush toilet paper down the toilets, and on many of them, you cannot go #2. I am sorry. I know this is a disgusting topic, but it is even more disgusting and horrifying to find yourself on a boat, sailing for hours or docked somewhere overnight, and realize there is nowhere that you can go to the bathroom. My friend Misha and I stayed at several hotels along the way because neither of us wanted to handle not having proper use of a toilet for days on end, but many girls were not as lucky, and there are some very embarrassing stories that I will not repeat here. Had we known about the bathroom situation prior, we would have splurged on a bigger sailboat that could accommodate people using the toilet. So make sure you look into this before you book your boat!

4) Your boat will get dirty real quick!

We had an all-girls crew and our cabin still got crazy dirty every day. Make a pact to all help clean. If everyone pitches in, it takes just a few minutes a day to keep your boat clean. Stay on top of dishes. Do them right after you are done eating, and try to keep all your personal stuff in your own cabin. The last thing you want is to spend a week in a tiny cramped, filthy space. This is the real Yacht Week v. your Instagram Yacht Week…

5) There is no air conditioning on the smaller sailboats

This is really not a big deal but when it’s very hot, it is hard to sleep in the cabins. I recommend bringing a yoga mat or buying one the first night you are there, so you can lay it out and sleep on the deck of the boat at night. And if you do choose to sleep on the deck, make sure someone sleeps next to you. A lot of people will be walking to and from the boats at all hours of the night, so it is safer to use the buddy system, especially for girls.

6) You will have the time of your life!

Just go!   If you can’t find a friend to go with you, just go on your own. Every single girl on our boat was amazing and our skipper,  Gregor , was one of the kindest and most responsible guys I have ever met! I had the time of my life and I can’t wait to go on another Yacht Week trip, especially now that I know what to expect. It is nothing like the real world and it will be an amazing experience!

Great article Vanessa! I have been on Yacht Week a couple of times now, its super fun, but its definitely good for newbies to Yacht Week to hear how to prepare to make sure they really enjoy it! Completely agree on splurging on a bigger better boat, we went for a much larger yacht for BVI than we had in Croatia and it made such a difference! (Having a stand up cubicle shower next to my cabin was a treat!!) Thanks for sharing your tips! You girls and the bikinis are really cute too!! xoxo

' src=

Done yacht week three times – great experience. But as you said its about party. Now moved on to Sailing Nations which focuses more on sailing and has super interesting sailing destinations.

' src=

Hi Bob! Thanks for sharing! I will have to check out Sailing Nations. Sounds very cool! I love being out on the water. Sailing makes you feel so free!

' src=

I’ll be leaving in a few weeks. Wondering what the currency will be like and how much to exchange. Did you use Euros? Or Kuna?

Hi Liz! Greece is on the EURO. Are you coming from the US? Right now 1 USD = .90 EURO – Enjoy your trip! X

' src=

Croatia is on the Kuna.

' src=

Great article ! really helpful for rookie yacht weeks . I will leave in a few weeks for the Italy route. Do the budget shown here applies for italy as well?

Hi Gil! I haven’t bee on the Italy route yet but the activities and cost will probably be similar. Have fun!!!

' src=

What currency is your estimated cost list in? Thanks so much!

Hi Eloise! It is in USD! X

Hello Vanessa. I’ve got a group of 4-6 guys who want to go to Croatia next June and definitely want a higher end boat. I assume we should be able to set this up as their must be others who are willing to spend more to get more. A couple of questions; are all boats single sex boats? Would it be wise to get a few hotels at some of the ports/stops? How about paying for a single cabin? Basically I’m trying to gather as much information as possible before booking starts in a couple of weeks. Thank you, Chip

Hi Chip! If you just want the boat to be your 6 friends I am sure you can find a high-end boat that will work for you (you’ll just need to pay more for a nicer boat) but generally Yacht Week wants there to be at least 50% girls on the boat. So there are all girl boats and mixed male/female boats but rarely all male boats. However I am sure it is possible to have an all male boat. I would contact Yacht Week directly to ask about this: [email protected] | As far as hotels, if you get a nice boat with proper bathrooms you won’t need to rent hotel rooms. I would recommend putting the money you would spend on hotels rooms towards getting a nicer boat with nice, proper bathrooms. Have a blast on your trip! X

Hi Vanessa, excellent piece of work! I wanted to ask you few things because i’m planning to go with some friends of mine from Argentina. If you can answer, that will be appreciated. 1. I read that a Hostess is really helpfull. But, the captain that is not included, is 100% neccesary? 2. How much is the bottle service approximately? 3. How much did you spend, between food, drinks, extras and yatch during the entire week? 4. It’s recommended to make a reservation just for me and my friend, and then the company join us with another group for the 50% rate of men?

Hi Juan! Thanks for your questions! 1) You don’t need a hostess but I am sure it would be nice to have one. You absolutely need a captain or a skipper to sail the boat. 2) Bottle service prices vary depending on where you go. We did the Greece route and I think our bottle service was about 150 EURO for 1 bottle but again this varies. 3) In my post you will see the price breakdown. It was approx $925 USD for the week for my trip. 4) Yes, I would book spots for you and your friend and the rest of the boat will be filled with a mix of males and females for a 50% female/male ratio.

' src=

Your review was so helpful! We just booked a yacht for Greece!! Cannot wait!

Hi Sharita! I’m glad my post was helpful! Have a blast in Greece!!! X

' src=

Hi Vanessa. Thanks for your blog post # 1 was most important for me as I definitely wanted to know how much additional cost I would be spending. I typically budget $100 per day for trips. Great blog post in general. I will be sharing this with my crew.

Thank you Orane! Glad you found the post useful! And thanks so much for sharing it. If you or your friends have any questions about The Yacht Week you are welcome to post them in the comments section here and I will try to get back to you as soon as possible. X

' src=

Hi! When I think of yacht week, I want those typical parties where the boats link together in the ocean and create a mini village to mingle for the day. I’ve only heard of this on Croatia routes. Does this happen for Greece at all?

Also what’s the age range like?

Hi Arly! This does happen on the Greece route, and I think all of the routes! The age range is typically a majority of people in their early to late twenties, with some people a little younger and some people in their early to mid thirties. Most people you will be in there twenties. I think I was twenty-nine when I went, which is on the older side! Have a blast!

' src=

Hi Vanessa! Great article. My best friend and I plan on doing Croatia this summer! The $130/day you estimated, does that include the port fees and electric fees at each port? Thanks!

Hi Lindsey – thanks for reaching out. I don’t remember specific cost for port fees or any electric fees but I know our Kitty Fund that everyone pitched money into at the start of the trip cover all the boat related costs on the trip, so yes, all your boat fees are included in the $130/day! X

' src=

Hey Lindsey, are you and your friend booking your own yatch? We’re looking for two girls to join our crew for week 25.

Question: the catamarans seem a lot more stable (and thus probably a better place to gather people for the party) whereas the Beneteau Oceanis 60 is just a sexy beast. We want to make sure we can have people over at our boat to party (and that it is stable enough for it). Which one do you think is the way to go (from your observations)?

Hi Kay – I am not a boat expert but I think any sailboat would be fine to have people on to “party” as long as you don’t go over the max weight limit for the boat. The skipper will let you know how many extra people you can have. X

' src=

Have you reviewed or compared the two routes? I can’t decide between Croatia and Greece. I have visited both and loved them both for different reasons. But, I am so torn between the two routes.

Hi Jami! I have been to both Croatia and Greece but I have only done Yacht Week Greece. I can personally say YW Greece was amazing but don’t have any experience with the Croatia route. However I am sure it is amazing too! My friend Kirsten – The Blonde Abroad – has done both and she gives a good review here: http://theblondeabroad.com/2014/11/03/best-route-yacht-week/

Hope this is helpful!

Hello Hello, may I ask what marina did you leave from and did you happen to see any yacht week prop stores near the marina are on your route? Someplace to buy floaties, temporary tattoos, UV body paint, and the like. We’re trying to maximize our carry on space by strategizing what we can buy in Athens.

Hi Lynette! I took this trip a few years ago so sorry I do not remember the name of the marina but I remember stores for everything we wanted to buy were within walking distance of our boat including a place to buy floaties, body paint and costumes etc! So unless there is something specific you want you can just go buy stuff with your boat crew when you arrive! 😉

Where do the floaties go after Yacht week? I leave in about 3 weeks and am purchasing floaties now. But every photo I see everyone is on a floatie. Would it make sense to just buy some off of them instead of lugging them half way accross the planet in a carry-on? Or is somewhere in Split just the location of the worlds largest floatie graveyard

Hi Jason! On the Greece route there was a store right in the harbor where we bought floaties the day before we set sail. I don’t know what people do with their floaties after yacht week. Mine got holes along the way and deflated so I threw them away but I would have given them to someone if they made it to the end! You can probably just wait and buy them when you get there. Maybe buy one floatie before and then get the rest when you arrive that way you know you at least have one!

' src=

Vanessa, Great article. I’m planning on doing this with a few friends. I noticed that you kept bringing up bottle service as being expensive. What if we ended up buying a lot of supplies (booze included) before getting on the boat. Would that be an issue? Maybe you pointed this out already and I stupidly missed it. Thanks.

Hi Allen! Thanks for your comment! I just mentioned that if you want to splurge on bottle service it is expensive and can add up quickly. You can also of course buy supplies and just drink on the boat and not spend money when you go out to the parties but you can’t bring alcohol with you the clubs obviously, so if you want to drink while there you will need to factor in the extra cost of drinks. TYW gives you a wrist band that usually gives you at least 2 free drinks at each party but you have to buy your own drinks after that so just be sure to factor in the cost if you plan to drink when going out!

Great read, very helpful! I noticed you mentioned 100$ for tip/gas (how many people were on the boat total?) Just trying to get a rough estimate on how much we should tip our skipper, including myself, we have 7 people.

Hi Jade! We had a crew of 8 girls. I think the amount you tip should depend more on how good your skipper is/ how much he does and how much your sailboat cost to rent. We had a small, cheaper boat but our skipper was really awesome so we wanted to tip him well. He went above and beyond to make sure we were all safe, happy and having fun! Hope this helps. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have more questions! Have fun!

Is there a farewell party Friday night on the Greece route?

Hi Alyssa – Thanks for your comment. I don’t remember there being a farewell party on Friday night! X

Thanks for the help! Does anyone have any recommendations for other cities/countries to visit before/after Croatia yacht week? Trying to book a 2-week trip overall, and there are so many options! Would love help narrowing it down! 🙂

Hey Vanessa, There are 8 of us girls looking into booking this summer, Greece or Montenegro route but we are concerned about the age range. We are between 30-35…what was the age range like? Also, we were debating on if we book in pairs (cabins) and be on separate boats or if we book our own, what are your thoughts?

Hi Kelsy! Thanks for your comment! Most people are in their 20s on yacht week but there are lots of people in their 30s too so you girls won’t feel out of place. I would try to rent your own boat all together. It will be easier if you are all together otherwise you will spend most of the trip just trying to meet up. Yacht week is about relaxing and having fun so you don’t want to work about stuff like that on your trip. You will also have plenty of time to mix and mingle with other people at the parties and when you are docked together or anchored during the day together! Hope you ladies have a blast! If any of you want to write a guest post about what it is like to do yacht week in your 30s I would LOVE to publish your story here! X, Vanessa

how much was it for each bottle for bottle service? would it be liter bottles or standard US 750ml bottles?

Hi! Bottle service in Greece when I went was around 150-200 EURO for US 750ml bottles. Cheers!

' src=

Is there a ‘best’ month to do yacht week? My friends and I don’t want to do the Ultra music festival. Curious if July or August is better. Thanks!

Hi Kelly! I don’t think there is really a best month but you might find cheaper flights and the places you go to might be a little less crowded in August. June and July are peak high season so best to try to avoid touristy spots during those months if you can.

' src=

Do you remember how much of your budget you were able to pay for with credit card, or how much of it had to be paid for with cash? I want to avoid converting too much of my money into cash euros for the Greece trip.

Hi Kurt! I paid for my spot on our boat with my credit card online prior to the trip. Everything else I paid for in cash. It is much easier if you have cash on hand to pay for meals and drinks etc. If you get bottle service at a bar you will be able to pay with a card but a drink here or there and meals where you are in a group it is much easier to each just throw in some cash. I would suggest taking maybe $300 out before you start the trip then getting more at one of your stops along the way that way just to be safe. I did not have anything stolen from me on the trip but it is always a risk if you have too much cash with you. Have fun! X, Vanessa

How to Pack for The Yacht Week

the yacht week hat

If you’re like me, you’ve probably already read the vague packing list on The Yacht Week website, skimmed through dozens of other blogs, and harassed people in the Crew Finder group to get more info on what you REALLY need to bring for this trip. Unfortunately for my bank account, I’m a little more high maintenance (luxury yacht WITH A/C pretty please) so throwing 5 bikinis in a backpack and calling it a day is just a little unrealistic for me. Although the cabin space is on the limited size regardless of which boat you chose, I’m here to help make your packing checklist a little more thorough and realistic. Let’s get right to it.

the yacht week hat

The Yacht Week Packing Checklist:

  • Pack some stuff in a duffle bag, and then if you need more space you’ll only need a smaller suitcase! 10/10 recommend this duffle bc its high quality, waterproof, and has tons of compartments.
  • This is the only hardshell suitcase you’ll ever need . I have the color “sand”. Use my code for a gift with purchase! CODE: “KRISM”
  • Swimwear. Yes that might be obvious, but really. Pack a suit for each day!
  • Swim cover ups. Think sarongs, kimonos, crochet tanks.
  • Water shoes . I love my Tevas. So comfy, versatile, and come in so many cute color options!
  • Sandals and sneakers . I promise…you will never wear heels.
  • A hat . I live in my Lack of Color boater hats, but definitely bring a cute, cheap ones too.
  • Hair accessories. If you have curly hair like me, do yourself a favor and grab a headscarf or some clips for an easy and manageable hairstyle.
  • Wet brush. You are in water every day after all.
  • Comfy clothes to throw on and explore or just to party in. Deff recommend dresses!
  • A sweatshirt/sweater/hoodie. Nights on the water are chilly (even in July!).
  • Sleepwear/ lightweight loungewear (mainly to sleep in).
  • Themed event outfits. Our Croatia route had Dockside Disco. I wore this !
  • White party outfit.
  • Minimal jewelry. I exclusively wore my favorite pieces- and they never tarnish, so getting them wet every day was no biggie.
  • Sunglasses. It wouldn’t hurt to have a couple of cheap backup pairs.
  • Sunscreen/aloe vera . REEF SAFE options are better! Even if you don’t burn easily, you’ll regret not buying your own!!
  • Skincare routine/body lotion/body wash/chapstick/hand sanitizer. The essentials.
  • Hanging toiletries kit . For all of the aforementioned.
  • Hangover supplements . PartySmart, Blowfish. You know the drill.
  • Meds in general. Ibuprofen, Bonine or dramamine. A first aid kit is great (only one person need to pack this).
  • Anti-nausea/sea sickness prevention. If you’re prone to this-grab sea bands, peppermint lozenges, anti motion sickness or nausea patches
  • Liquid IV or any electrolyte drink mix is amazing. You need to stay hydrated! These also help prevent hangovers.
  • Yeti/insulated tumbler. Keep your drinks cold longer on the boat where ice is limited!
  • European outlet adapter. If you’re not from Europe.
  • AUX cord if you want to jam out on the boat.
  • USB cigarette lighter adapter. When you need to charge if the boat isn’t docked!
  • Mophie phone case or extra phone battery pack.
  • Face wipes to remove any makeup.
  • Waterproof mascara (and if you like to have some kind of makeup on, this is a GREAT option for a tinted sunscreen)
  • Pool float – so many cute fun options!
  • Pump for the pool float. I know you don’t want to do that yourself lol.
  • Your favorite beach towel. or grab a new one 🙂
  • Party games – cards or any of these fun drinking games
  • GoPro / camera water housing .
  • Cash for port fees, fuel etc. Also prepare to tip your skipper and host around $100. You’ll also be buying their food and drinks during the trip, so make sure to budget for that!

Fun extras we packed

  • Flag to fly on your boat. Represent your country or fly something creative and fun, but this is necessary to distinguish which boat is yours. We got this 3×5 one from Etsy.
  • Captain hats. We did a Nautical Day theme and got these hats for less than $6 per person. They also have sailor caps!
  • Matching bucket hats . These tie dye ones were fun for the whole group. We also got these 70s inspired matching sunglasses to wear as well!
  • Ragata theme costume. This isn’t an all day outfit so no need to go balls to the wall. Our theme was Mario Kart and we got these hilarious yet simple headpieces to throw on with a matching swimsuit!

Hopefully this was helpful and if you’ve been to The Yacht Week and have something you couldn’t live without when you got there, let me know! 🙂

The yachts are well-equipped with multiple cabins, allowing you and your crew to have your own private sleeping quarters. The cabins are cozy and designed to maximize space, with comfortable beds and storage options for your belongings. Each cabin typically accommodates two people, making it easy to allocate sleeping arrangements among your crew.

Common areas on the yacht include a spacious salon where you can gather and relax, a fully equipped kitchenette to prepare meals, and dining areas both indoors and outdoors. The yachts also feature bathroom facilities, including showers and toilets, ensuring convenience throughout your trip.

It’s important to note that the yachts provided during The Yacht Week Croatia are fully crewed. Each yacht is assigned a professional skipper who is responsible for navigating the yacht, handling sails, and ensuring the safety of all onboard. Having a skipper allows you to sit back, relax, and fully enjoy the experience without the stress of sailing the yacht yourself.

While the yachts offer a comfortable living space, it’s important to manage expectations regarding space and privacy. With a limited amount of space onboard, it’s essential to be mindful of your fellow crew members and maintain a respectful and considerate atmosphere.

Outside of your yacht, there are also additional accommodation options available for those who prefer to stay on land. Some participants choose to book a hotel or villa before or after The Yacht Week to extend their stay and explore more of Croatia’s incredible destinations. This allows for a mix of onboard and onshore experiences.

Keep in mind that booking separate accommodation on land may require additional planning and coordination. However, it can provide an opportunity for some downtime and a chance to experience the local culture and amenities.

Overall, the yachts provided during The Yacht Week Croatia offer a comfortable and convenient accommodation option for your sailing adventure. With well-appointed cabins, communal living spaces, and professional skippers, you can enjoy the perfect balance of comfort, adventure, and socializing during your time on the yacht.

Yacht Selection

Choosing the right yacht is an essential part of planning your Yacht Week Croatia adventure. The Yacht Week offers a range of different yachts to cater to various group sizes, budgets, and preferences.

When selecting a yacht, here are a few factors to consider:

1. Group Size: Determine the number of people in your crew. Yachts can accommodate different group sizes, from smaller yachts for intimate groups to larger yachts for bigger parties. Make sure the yacht has enough cabins and sleeping arrangements to comfortably accommodate everyone.

2. Yacht Type: Consider the type of yacht that suits your preferences. The Yacht Week offers a variety of options, including monohulls, catamarans, and luxury yachts. Monohulls offer a more traditional sailing experience, while catamarans provide spacious and stable platforms for socializing. Luxury yachts provide additional amenities and a higher level of comfort.

3. Amenities: Check the amenities available onboard the yacht. Some yachts offer additional features such as air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, swimming platforms, and water toys. These amenities can enhance your sailing experience and provide extra fun and convenience.

4. Budget: Set a budget for your yacht rental. Yachts range in price based on their size, age, and level of luxury. Consider the overall cost of the yacht rental, including fuel, provisioning, and any additional fees. It’s important to align your budget with the type and size of the yacht you choose.

5. Skipper or Bareboat: Decide whether you want to charter the yacht with a skipper or as a bareboat. Having a professional skipper onboard can provide peace of mind and let you fully enjoy the experience, especially if you’re not an experienced sailor. If you have the necessary qualifications and experience, you may opt for a bareboat charter and take the helm yourself.

6. Age and Condition: Take into consideration the age and condition of the yacht. Newer yachts may offer upgraded features and a more modern design. However, older yachts can still be charming and well-maintained. Research the yacht’s history and reviews to ensure you choose a reliable and comfortable vessel.

7. Yacht Charter Company: Work with a reputable yacht charter company or The Yacht Week organizers to book your yacht. Ensure they have a good track record of providing quality yachts and reliable service. Read reviews and gather recommendations to make an informed decision.

It’s important to note that the availability of specific yachts may vary depending on the time of booking. Popular yachts tend to book up quickly, so it’s recommended to book your yacht well in advance to secure your preferred choice.

Remember, selecting the right yacht will contribute to the overall enjoyment of your Yacht Week Croatia experience. Consider your group’s size, preferences, and budget to choose a yacht that meets your needs and ensures an unforgettable week of sailing and celebration.

Crewing Options

When participating in The Yacht Week Croatia, there are various crewing options available to accommodate different preferences and group dynamics. Here are some crewing options to consider:

1. Full Crew: If you have a group of friends or a pre-existing crew, you can book a full yacht and sail together. This option allows you to have full control over who you share the yacht with, ensuring a comfortable and familiar environment. You can customize the experience according to your group’s preferences and have a cohesive dynamic throughout the trip.

2. Partial Crew: If you have a smaller group or are open to meeting new people, you can book a partial yacht and be paired with other individuals or smaller crews. This option allows you to join a diverse and sociable group, giving you the opportunity to make new friends and forge connections with people from all over the world. It can create a dynamic and lively atmosphere, with a mix of different personalities and backgrounds onboard.

3. Cabin Charter: If you’re an individual traveler or have a small group, you can opt for a cabin charter. This option allows you to reserve individual cabins on a shared yacht. You’ll be paired with others who have chosen the cabin charter option, and you’ll share the common areas and facilities of the yacht. Cabin chartering is a great way to meet like-minded travelers and experience The Yacht Week Croatia without needing to gather a full crew.

Regardless of which crewing option you choose, it’s important to maintain a respectful and considerate attitude towards your fellow crew members. Communication and cooperation are key to ensuring a harmonious and enjoyable experience for everyone onboard.

Participating in The Yacht Week is not just about sailing—it’s also about building connections, fostering friendships, and creating incredible memories together. Embrace the opportunity to meet new people, learn about different cultures, and share adventures with like-minded individuals from around the world.

For those who are new to sailing or want to enhance their sailing skills, The Yacht Week offers crew training courses. These courses provide participants the chance to learn the basics of sailing, navigation, and boat handling. It’s a great option for those who want to be actively involved in the sailing aspect of the trip and gain a deeper understanding of the craft.

Overall, The Yacht Week provides different crewing options to cater to various preferences and group sizes. Whether you choose to sail with your own crew or join others on a shared yacht, the focus remains on creating an inclusive and vibrant community of sailors and party-goers. No matter which crewing option you choose, you’re bound to have an unforgettable experience sailing along the stunning coastline of Croatia.

Food and Drinks

When it comes to food and drinks during The Yacht Week Croatia, there are several options to ensure you’re well-fed and hydrated throughout your sailing adventure.

1. Provisioning: Before setting sail, you have the option to provision your yacht with groceries and supplies. Many yacht charter companies offer provisioning services, allowing you to pre-order everything you need for meals and snacks. You can choose from a variety of food and drink options, including fresh produce, meats, seafood, beverages, and snacks. This is a convenient option if you prefer to cook your own meals onboard.

2. Dining Out: If you prefer to indulge in local cuisine or take a break from cooking, you can explore the restaurants and cafes in the towns and villages you visit. Taste traditional Croatian dishes, such as fresh seafood, grilled meats, and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. Ensuring the safety and adhering to regulations are paramount during The Yacht Week Croatia. Here are some important considerations to keep in mind to have a safe and enjoyable experience:

1. Skipper Guidance: Each yacht is assigned a professional skipper who is responsible for the safe operation of the vessel. Follow the skipper’s instructions regarding sailing procedures, anchorages, and safety protocols. They have the expertise and experience to navigate the waters and handle any unforeseen situations.

2. Weather Awareness: Stay informed about weather conditions throughout your journey. Be aware of any potential storms or adverse weather and take necessary precautions. Your skipper will have access to weather updates and can advise you on the best course of action to ensure your safety.

Exercise moderation and be aware of your alcohol consumption. Stay hydrated and plan ahead for safe transportation after consuming alcohol, such as arranging designated drivers or utilizing taxi services.

Trump Media plunges amid plan to issue more shares. It's lost $7 billion in value since its peak.

By Aimee Picchi

Edited By Anne Marie Lee

Updated on: April 17, 2024 / 1:57 PM EDT / CBS News

After a short-lived honeymoon, former President Donald Trump's media company is experiencing a rough reception on Wall Street. Trump Media & Technology Group — which trades under the ticker DJT, his initials — tumbled 18.4% in Monday trading, a drop that follows last week's 21% plunge.

The sharp drop in value comes after Trump Media, whose primary asset is Truth Social, the social media platform, on Monday filed a  document with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that opens the door for the future potential sale of millions of shares. The document, called an S-1, relates to warrants held by investors that can be transformed into shares of stock, as well as shares held by company insiders.

The filing also includes all the shares held by the former president. Trump, however, remains under a "lockup" deal that  largely restricts him from selling  his shares for another roughly five months. His son, Donald Trump Jr., who is a director on the board, and CEO Devin Nunes, are also bound by the lockup.

The stock plunge has erased billions from Trump's stake — at least on paper. The shares soared when they began trading on March 26, giving Trump's 57% ownership position a value of $6.25 billion. But after DJT's recent slump, that stake is worth $2.1 billion, representing a paper loss of $4.15 billion.

Overall, shareholders have lost $7.2 billion in value since the stock touched a high of $79.38 on March 26. The shares tumbled $5.98, or 18.4%, to $26.61 on Monday.

When companies issue additional shares, they take on the risk of their stock price coming under downward pressure. That's due, in part, to simple laws of supply and demand — with more stock available, a company's share price tends to fall unless there's a commensurate increase in demand.

So far, the former president's supporters comprise a significant part of the company's investor base, with Trump Media CEO Nunes praising their support on Fox Business earlier this month. On Truth Social, some investors said they believed the stock would recover, while others said they were taking advantage of the stock's plunge to buy more shares.

"Bought more today just like a lot of you," one member of a Truth Social group dedicated to DJT shares wrote on Monday. "I believe time is our friend. Half a year until election. I can definitely hold until then at the minimum."

Other supporters on Truth Social noted that the Monday filing doesn't necessarily mean Trump plans to sell any of his 57% ownership stake in Trump Media.

"Trump has NOT signaled intentions to sell his shares," wrote Chad Nedohin, a pastor and musician, on Truth Social on Monday. "There is no new unexpected issuance of new shares. The increase in total shares in the S-1 is for the warrants."

S-1 filings are typically filed quickly after a SPAC deal closes, usually within 15 or 30 days, said Kristi Marvin, founder of SPACInsider.com, which specializes in SPAC deals.

Trump Media & Technology Group didn't immediately return a request for comment.

200,000 new retail investors

Trump, who relies on Truth Social as his primary social media platform, has about 7 million followers on the app, where he frequently blasts his critics and promotes favorable polls. He's also turned to Truth Social to rail about his criminal trial, which began Monday, over accusations of falsifying business records related to a  "hush money" payment .

About 600,000 retail investors have bought shares in Trump Media & Technology group, with about 200,000 of them buying into the stock within the last few weeks, Nunes told Fox Business earlier this month. He called these small investors "the most amazing part about our company."

Those investors have had a wild ride since the stock began trading as DJT on March 26. The shares soared on its first two days of trading, but have since shed more than two-thirds of their value.

Such swings have prompted comparisons with so-called  "meme" stocks  like GameStop, which typically attract individual investors based on social media buzz, rather than traditional metrics favored by investors, such as revenue and profit growth.

Last year, Trump Media lost $58 million on revenue of $4.1 million — about half the annual sales booked by a single  Chick-fil-A location .

The Death Valley Lake That’s Gone in a Flash

By Meg Bernhard

A person kayaks in front of a mountain range while wearing a cowboy hat.

Manly is an ancient pluvial lake in Death Valley National Park which only sometimes exists. It forms intermittently in Badwater Basin, North America’s lowest point, following periods of heavy rain. After August’s Hurricane Hilary, the lake was suddenly there. A more recent deluge caused it to swell to six miles long and a foot deep, across America’s driest place.

At 4:45 a.m . on a Saturday, Patrick Donnelly loaded six inflatable kayaks into his truck and drove from Shoshone, California, to the park. The moon, a waxing gibbous, shimmered through clouds onto the salt flats. Donnelly is a conservation biologist at the Center for Biological Diversity. His days normally involve composing rants against mineral companies and writing endangered-species petitions for rare flowers and fish. (He has said that “a well written Endangered Species Act petition should bring the reader to tears.”) “I’m not much of a boater, and here I am leading an armada,” he said. He’d bought the kayaks a week earlier and had been out on the lake three times since. “People should know magic still exists.”

Donnelly met a small group of boaters on Manly’s shore just before sunrise: Laura Crane, a conservationist from Joshua Tree; her partner, Paul Bessire, who worked at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County; and Dex Lim, a geology student from Las Vegas. The group ogled the glassy expanse of water and the snowcapped mountains beyond, and then got to inflating the kayaks, which slowly wheezed to life. “You have to be gentle,” Donnelly said. He wore a white cowboy hat, cargo pants, and hiking boots that were stiff with salt and mud. He advised that closed-toe shoes were preferable—the lake’s salt-crusted banks could slice up feet. “You absolutely cannot drink,” he said, meaning the lake water; Manly is several times saltier than the ocean. “I’m printing T-shirts,” he said. “The Lake Manly Yacht Club.”

Donnelly, who is forty-one, was raised in the Northeast. When he was nineteen, he worked as a traffic reporter for Cablevision in New York City. In his early twenties, he moved to Moab, and on his first day there he drove to the national park in the morning. “The sun was lighting all those rocks on fire,” he said. “I was just, like, ‘Oh, I’m on Mars.’ I’d never given the desert half a thought.” He read Edward Abbey, and became a desert fanatic. These days, Donnelly says he is “a quarter lobbyist, a quarter field biologist, a quarter P.R. flack for bunnies and buckwheats, and a quarter project supervisor.” He has lived at the edge of Death Valley for about a decade. He sees himself as one of the area’s few chroniclers of climate change and of rare desert phenomena. Last year, he was working in Carson City, Nevada, when what’s commonly called a Superbloom (Donnelly: “All blooms are super”) of wildflowers, including Fremont’s phacelia and pepperweed, appeared back in Shoshone. He commuted eight hundred miles round trip most weekends.

When the kayakers were done pumping, they set out west, toward the Panamint Range. They had the lake nearly to themselves. As they drifted, Donnelly noticed that Lim’s kayak seemed to be folding in on itself: a leak. “Dex, did you inflate the bottom of that?” he called out.

“I was wondering if it was starting to get a little squishy on me,” Lim said.

Donnelly paddled over with a pump. They floated on. Paddling next to Crane, Donnelly recounted a time, during the heavy winter rain in 2015, when he went boating down the normally low, but then raging, Amargosa River. He got caught in a mesquite tree and capsized. “I went back three months later and found pieces of the boat,” he said.

This reminded Crane of a friend of a friend in Twentynine Palms. “He went hiking in the wash and found this really cool rusted machete,” she said. He brought it home. He later went on another hike in the wash and found a human skull. He gave it to the police, who connected it to a murder committed with the machete, which was covered in blood, not rust.

The group paddled for a mile. The sun occasionally glimmered through fish-scale clouds, and the air alternated between warm and cold. Salt coated everything—clothes, water bottles, a banana that Bessire had brought as a snack. After a few hours, they paddled back toward shore. People were dragging watercrafts through mud to the lake’s edge.

At two-thirty the next morning, Donnelly set out again for Manly alone, to kayak under a full moon—one of his last voyages, because a week and a half later forty-mile-an-hour winds blew the lake two miles north. The water was evaporating, and soon the National Park Service closed Lake Manly to boaters. ♩

Cape Coral's premier historic gemstone, The Yacht Club, will be gone by the end of May

the yacht week hat

Cape Coral began demolition of the main Yacht Club buildings this week, starting the work to bring down one of the city's oldest structures.

"Demolition is anticipated to take about a month and a half – it should be done around the end of May," said Cape Coral Spokesperson Kaitlyn Mullen.

The city will demolish the main buildings and attached amenities of the Yacht Club, including the ballroom building, the Tony Rotino Center, tennis courts, pool, and harbormaster.

Here's what we know:

Yacht Club demolition takes down one building already

On Wednesday, the city announced the long-anticipated demolition of the main Yacht Club buildings.

By the end of the day, the Tony Rotino Senior Center, which, before Hurricane Ian, had offered programs and activities for individuals 50 and older since 1977 , had been pulled down.

Johnson-Laux Construction, a full-service construction management firm that operates out of Winter Garden, has been contracted to demolish and deconstruct the Yacht Club for $987,716.04.

The firm is also tasked with  preserving a portion  of the old ballroom building, which includes interior ceiling beams, stonework, a fountain, and interior doors.

Construction will  not affect the beach area.

Recent Cape Coral news Cape Coral to vote on moratoriums as a former mayor warns of possible legal ramification

The iconic Cape Coral Yacht Club has a storied history

Cape Coral's  Yacht Club Community Park , which includes a yacht basin, tennis courts, a swimming pool, a ballroom, and a beach, has served as a popular attraction and staple for the city since the 1960s, built and open just a few years after the city's inception in 1957 by brothers Jack and Leonard Rosen .

In 2018, voters approved a $60 million expansion of the city's parks and amenities through the Parks and Recreation General Obligation (GO) Bond. Part of that was intended for the Yacht Club.

The Cape Coral City Council originally planned to close and begin work on renovations for the park in 2021 .

But then Hurricane Ian struck the city on Sep. 28, 2022, delaying the project with the council eventually opting to revamp the whole area, with the city pointing toward the high cost of repairs and being over FEMA's 50% rule as justification for moving forward.

Longtime residents and former city officials such as former councilmember Gloria Tate and former mayor Joe Mazurkiewicz opposed the plans.

They tried to save the Yacht Club's main building, the ballroom — one of the city's oldest structures — however, they could not sway the council to change its mind on the new plans.

The  current plans  include a new two-story community center to replace the ballroom, removing the tennis courts, rearranging the area to accommodate a four-story parking garage, a new restaurant, and a new resort-style pool.

Previous discussions estimate the cost of the project to be as much as $100 million .

When will the new Cape Coral Yacht Club be finished?

The city is still in the design phase and has no estimated timeframe for completion.

What's next for the new Yacht Club?

A public meeting to review and showcase current Yacht Club designs will be held on May 7.

"The design team will present the design plans to any members of the public who attend," Mullen said. "People can ask questions one-on-one of the design team and staff after the presentation."

Who owns the superyacht docked outside the 2024 Venice Biennale?

The sea pearl has been a looming presence along the water during this week's preview.

Visitors walking along the water to the 60th Venice Biennale pavilions from St Mark's Square during this week’s preview have undoubtedly noticed the massive yacht docked near the entrance to the Giardini. The ship, called the Sea Pearl, is reportedly owned by Indian-born Indonesian billionaire Sri Prakash Lohia.

Lohia is the billionaire chairman and founder of Indorama Corporation, and made his fortune in petrochemicals and textiles. He has a large collection of lithographs and rare books. His daughter-in-law, Aarti Lohia, leads the SP Lohia Foundation and is a significant collector of contemporary South Asian art . Aarti Lohia is serving as this year’s British Council ambassador for the Venice Biennale, with John Akomfrah’s British pavilion. On 16 April, Aarti Lohia threw a reception onboard the Sea Pearl to support fundraising efforts, the British Council confirmed. The SP Lohia Foundation did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The ship is more than 82 metres long, according to its maker Abeking & Rasmussen , and photos and videos show multiple decks and an onboard pool. The yacht can reportedly accommodate around a dozen overnight guests in seven cabins and features include a gym and cinema.

During the 2011 edition of the Venice Biennale, mega collector Roman Abramovich docked his 115-metre boat Luna near the Giardini, a move that agitated locals and spurred the then-mayor to threaten a new “oligarch tax” on oversized yachts. For the following edition in 2013, the British pavilion artist Jeremy Deller referenced the incident with a mural of the British social reformer William Morris chucking the superyacht into the Venetian lagoon. The Sea Pearl was joined by another superyacht on 18 April.

This year’s British pavilion by Akomfrah deals with, among other topics, the environment and climate change. A 2021 report by Indiana University researchers found luxury yachts with features like helipads and submarines can burn thousands of tons of CO2 a year, and the team described the ships as “by far the worst asset to own from an environmental standpoint”. Kourtney Kardashian Barker is officially 45, and she has no shortage of love in her life!

To honor the oldest sister of the Kardashian-Jenners, her loved ones have showered her with love across social media. But it was her mom Kris Jenner who kicked off the tributes, posting a photo carousel featuring pics of Kourtney from childhood onward.

"Happy birthday to my firstborn babydoll @kourtneykardash !!!!!! What in the world is happening, time is twirling so fast and I can’t believe you are 45!!!" Kris, 68, captioned the Instagram post. "It seems like just the other day you were wearing your 5 year old party hat going to Buckley to be the line leader and I was bringing cupcakes for the class to celebrate."

"Well you have grown into the most beautiful and amazing daughter, wife, mommy, sister, auntie and best friend a girl can have," she continued. "You are a kick ass business boss and I am so proud of you every day! Thank you for making me a grandma for the first time and for every single moment and memory we share. I love you beyond measure ❀🙏🏼."

In response to the thoughtful message, Kourtney — who showed off a gorgeous flower bouquet gift on her Instagram Stories — wrote: "I love you mommy! ❀ time is flying so fastttttt! So grateful for every memory with you."

The reality star's sister Khloé Kardashian also commented on Kris' sweet tribute.

"Happy birthday my dapper little cutie," the Good American mogul, 39, wrote. "We love you my Janey balls! I love love love you my little slice of apple pie."

The famous family have been celebrating the Poosh founder’s 45th all week, with Kourtney posting a series of photos on Instagram Sunday showing off a selection of cakes poking fun at the sisters.

Kourtney captioned the carousel post “mood 🎈,” with the first photo showing her laughing on a yacht alongside a large cake.

Written on top of the dessert was a gold and orange glittery cake topper that read ‘Happy Birthday To The Most Exciting To Look At’ — referring to Kim previously calling her “the least exciting to look at” during an episode of their former reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians .

The other cakes read “Aries Baby” and “Just Living Life,” a saying Kourtney often uses on the family’s Hulu show. A few other personalized classic “Happy Birthday” cakes were featured in the post too.

The photo dump also included images of Kourtney as a kid celebrating her birthdays during her childhood. One sweet snap showed mom Kris smiling at the camera as toddler Kourtney stood beside her with a party hat on.
