Wonderful view, service and nice lunch selections. Members may invite guests to enjoy a pleasant meal.

Came here for a birthday party, where the guest of honor reserved a room. I don't understand why so many county clubs are so outdated! The carpets, walls, etc. I guess patrons don't care about that. Our server was really sweet and took drink orders right away, but it went downhill with the food. Half of us got the wrong order, or items missing, or their food just didn't come! One member of our party didn't even get to place her order! I had to flag down the server to tell her. My food was wrong and was so disappointing. I was brought the veggie quinoa bowl and there was zero flavor to that. I asked where the fruit was for my kids, and she's like Oh we don't have any. Like, it's on the menu, and were you going to tell me?? I definitely won't go back there and would encourage anyone planning a party to look elsewhere.

Attended my company's Holiday event here, and it was a fantastic setting with a private indoor dining area, and also a beautiful outdoor patio area / bar for mingling. The staff was very friendly, and the food was excellent! Prime rib was delicious and the chicken was tender and flavorful. They have their own private Southwestern Yacht Club Cabernet, which was wonderful. Beautiful views right on the water. I don't have a boat, but this place inspires me to get one.

They call it the friendliest yacht club, and it's true. Each time we've been here we have met someone friendly. The servers are amazing, too. They have a small but solid menu. Beautiful views from dining area and dogs are allowed on the lower patio. It is a members only (reciprocal clubs included) and not open to the public.

Well, pork belly is not for the skinny jeans, grass grazing, tree hugging, calorie counting, spring water drinking, kind've person. Think gluttonous, artery clogging, this sh*t is sooooo bad for you, steak cut strips of bacon and that pretty much sums it up. Now, take that kept friendly, bacon steak and marry it with the traditional Vietnamese sandwich, banh mi... 'Delicious. I'd have to say it was the first time that I ever took notice of something as simple as a tater tot. Tater tot trivia: Here's a little fun fact; he actual name "tater tot" is a registered trademark of the American frozen food company, Ore-Ida. Much lot like Coke, Band-Aid, and Styrofoam... The skipper was meeting his his brother-in-law and nephews at the yacht club. Again, the service was exemplary as before. The menu offered a lot of great selections, prime rib sliders, shrimp tacos, a variety of salads, fish & chips, lamb burger, chicken pot pie, meatloaf, and a 20 oz ribeye... 'My favorite cut. I just wanted something simple and Yacht Burger was the obvious choice; cooked medium. The burger's a half pound of Angus beef, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickle, griddled brioche bun. (Option to add cheese or bacon) I passed on the added cheese or bacon; I used up my fatty points earlier with their pork belly sandwich at lunch. For my side, I had fries and like lunch, my meal was very good. The hamburger wasn't spectacular but for what it was, it was done well. There have been times when I've eaten @ a restaurant and thought, "How do you mess up a burger?!" HA! Had a good race, made some great memories like being caught in the doldrums at 1am, falling asleep at the helm, while trying to make it around the most northern of the Coronado Islands. Up until that point, we were making good time... 'And the rest of the race into enSANaDIEGO harbor shall never be spoken of again. I look forward to the next time I'm in the area and have the opportunity to visit the Southwestern Yacht Club again. I've thought about going a club in the Dana Point area but it always comes back to $$$, plus the fact they don''t honor coupons. Oh, yeah, and that thing called "standards." I would give one star. Except for the fact our initial server was amazing. The secondary server was horrible. He was so upset that I asked to have the bread for the sandwich I ordered be rye/white bread instead of sourdough. Then when he brought the order and they had made it with sourdough I asked him to take it back and change it. He huffed and took the sandwich around the back-not towards where he came from the kitchen. Then I didn't get my food back for 45 minutes. We were there for 3 hours and then we had to go inside and ask for the check.

Very lackluster dining experience for Sunday lunch!! Though the patio was sparsely patronized, the service was abominable. Staff did not clear tables, allowing birds to pick at food left on vacant tables. Staff was exceedingly slow to take our order. Staff never checked on us during the meal. Staff never returned to fill water glasses, etc.. Then the wait for our check after our meal was exhausting. The reason they even get 2 stars is because the view and setting was pleasant, and the food was good. If my friend who is a member wants to take me here again, I'll suggest another place!!

We had a graduation party there and wow! Was an awesome time!!! Class off 2022 congrats!!! The food was amazing, prime rib, salmon, salads, potatoes, cooked veggies, huge dessert selection and much more! Staff were amazing, we definitely paid for our party but it was well worth it!!!! Such a great dinner on the marina and fun dancing!!! Thank you San Diego Yacht club for hosting an amazing memory!!!

This Place is a Hidden wonder of San Diego Has Very good food, Great friendly service, And a Spectacular view in a Friendly atmosphere;

I had lunch at Southwestern Yacht Club's restaurant today. I ordered their Ceasar salad. The menu claimed it was a Ceasar Salad, with croutons. I ordered it with chicken. What I got was a joke. The romaine lettuce was chopped, not torn, their verson of Ceasar dressing had not one thing in common with actual Ceasar Dressing, it came with an oil and vinegar dressing. I asked for Ceasar Dressing so they brought something that had no resemblance in any form to it. Their Ceasar Salad without a doubt was the worst Ceasar Salad I have ever experienced, anywhere. I ended up not eating it at all and settled with an order of onion rings (greasy onion rings, but edible.) We were charged the full price for whatever that salad like thing was even though I only tasted it with two forkfuls and some of the chicken. We paid it without complaint and left. Southwestern Yacht Club needs to take a serious look at just how their restaurant is being managed.

About Southwestern Yacht Club

SWYC has an unmatched location in a beautiful Point Loma residential area within the Shelter Island Yacht Basin.  There are nearby walking trails, restaurants and boating services, plus quick access to San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean from our docks.  With incredible Point Loma and San Diego Bay vistas, SWYC also boasts a beautiful, state-of-the-art yachting clubhouse and facilities which were refurbished in 2010.

Southwestern Yacht Club believes in giving back to the community. The Benefit on the Bay Events (Gala, Race with post-race BBQ, and Anglers Tournament) are annual fundraising events with all proceeds benefiting a worthy San Diego foundation. SWYC is proud to support several community events including the Junior Foundation (providing scholarships for youth sailing programs), the White Sea Bass Release Project and other charitable programs.

55th Little Ensenada Race returns to San Diego and Mexico

Southwestern Yacht Club will host international regatta, Oct. 5-7.

SAN DIEGO — Southwestern Yacht Club brings the 55th iteration of the Little Ensenada Race to San Diego in early October, providing sailors another south-of-the-border sailing run for 2018. The regatta features PHRF fleets, Cruising Class fleets, the Southwestern race fleet, ORR fleets and Ancient Mariners Sailing Society.

Racing sailboats of 24 feet LOA or larger are eligible for the race; the crew minimum is three people. The required entry fee is $90.

Racing starts on Oct. 5 and continues through Oct. 7. Competition takes place along the Pacific Ocean from Coronado Roads to Ensenada. Racers will cross the finish line about 2 nautical miles west of Hotel Coral Marina in Ensenada.

In all 13 perpetual trophies will be awarded:

– United Port of San Diego: Yacht Club with Most PHRF Trophy Winners

– Port of Ensenada: First Mexican Boat on Corrected Time

– Douglas K. Smith: First PHRF Boat, Elapsed Time

– Mayor of Ensenada: First PHRF Boat, Corrected Time

– Hussong’s Cantina: First PHRF Class 2 Boat, Corrected Time

– Baja Department of Tourism: First PHRF Class 3 Boat, Corrected Time

– Sano’s Steak House: First PHRF Class 4 Boat, Corrected Time

The windy Russian autumn weather might be a little bit tricky for sailing, but it doesn’t stop brave yachtsmen from all over the world from flocking to Russian capital in the beginning of September when the Moscow Yacht Show commences. The main Russian Yacht exhibition gathers professional and amateur yacht lovers together under the wing of The Royal Yacht Club.

This year it took place for a fourth time already. The exhibition is considered the principal event on the sporting and social calendar. The Moscow Yacht Show 2010 united in one area three of the largest Russian yachts distributors: Ultramarine, Nordmarine and Premium Yachts.

A wide range of yachts were on display for a week. An exhibition showcased yachts both from Russian manufacturers and world famous brands: Azimut, Princess, Ferretti, Pershing, Riviera, Doral, Linssen, etc.

It was a real feast for seafarers as visitors of the show had a unique chance not only to take a look at the newest superyachts before they hit the market, but also to evaluate their driving advantages during the test drive. The show provided an excellent opportunity for yacht enthusiasts to choose and buy a new boat for the next season.

The event started with the grandiose gala evening. It included grand dinner, the concert and professional awards ceremony for achievements in Russian yachting industry. The guests also enjoyed the annual regatta.

Special guest Paolo Vitelli, Azimut Benetti Group president, opened the evening.

Next year organizers assured guests they would bring more yachts, the scale of which will even make oligarch Roman Abramovich envious. Sounds very promising indeed.

Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club

This park is among the best in Eastern Europe and was awarded the 2014 World Golf Award as the best golf course in Russia. Located 25 miles from Moscow, it is part of a vast complex featuring an 18-hole golf course, designed by Jack Nicklaus , a polo club and a mountain ski club with four tracks. The design combines classic Scottish, Alpine, and English features in a dreamy landscape.

Less than 60 miles from Moscow, this golf course with a definite Scottish design is the only one in Russia recognized as a PGA (Professional Golfers’ Association) from Britain and Ireland. Located in an ecologically pristine area on the banks of the Volga River, the Zavidovo Golf Club embodies the spirit and appearance of the legendary Scottish golf courses. Its many springs and streams, hills, forests, swamps and lakes justify its reputation as a very demanding circuit. Southwestern Yacht Club is continuously welcoming new applicants for membership who share boating interests, want to socialize or enjoy themselves as part of our active community. We have a variety of memberships that allow for everyone, individuals, couples and families, to have fun at Southwestern Yacht Club. Take a virutal tour of the Club!

As you fill out the   application , some questions may arise. We hope this will help clarify matters for you.

• Flag membership is available to any person 21 years of age or over who owns a boat not less than 14 feet overall in length. A Flag member is eligible to vote at meetings of the membership, hold elective office, and enter his/her boat in Club races.
• Regular membership is available to any person 21 years of age or over who does not own a boat. Regular members are not eligible for elective office nor shall they be entitled to vote on proposals other than dues and assessments.
• If you do not fall into either of these categories, please contact our Membership D irector   at 619-222-0438 x 111.  We can help you determine your membership category.
• Date of birth, employer and Social Security number are needed for the person in whose name the membership will be held.  We would like you to know that every attempt is made to keep your personal information private. Before your application is submitted to the Membership Committee or posted on the Club bulletin board, your date of birth and Social Security number are removed. SWYC will obtain a credit report as part of your application. Only the Club Manager, Club Treasurer and Membership Chair will review this report.
• Personal reference should be someone who is not a member of Southwestern Yacht Club.
• Yacht Club Sponsors must be two members in good standing, at least one of whom must hold a separate Flag, Regular or Life membership. They are required to fill out a confidential Southwestern Yacht Club Sponsor Form for you.
• Finally, you will get to the fun part - on the last page, circle the activities that interest you. Please include a short letter describing your boating experience and your interest in SWYC. Upon approval of your application, you will be placed in a Conditional membership for 12 months. Initiation fees must be paid in full when you are approved for Conditional Membership. During this first year, you must meet certain requirements, including involvement in two Club activities. You can meet this volunteer requirement by contacting the activity chairs who will be happy to involve you in their functions.

Fee Schedule

Southwestern Yacht Club Bylaws require a 2/3 vote of the Flag members to raise its fees. Please see Article V, Section 15: A. Charges.  All initiation fees, dues, assessments, surcharges, dry storage fees, slip rental fees and locker rental fees shall be established by the Board of Directors, subject to approval by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the Flag Membership, except that the Regular Membership may vote on dues and assessments only. Sea Trial Program

After the fire: St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club focused on revitalizing this coming summer

P ANAMA CITY — In November, the St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club building on Bunkers Cove Road was destroyed in a fire. Ever since then, questions have circulated around the community: How did the fire start? Would the Yacht Club rebuild?

The Yacht Club was up and operational for business within weeks of the fire. The Yacht Club is still taking in new members, as well. Members have joined the club even after the fire.

”The Yacht Club is in better shape than people would have imagined,” said Michael Wynn, 2024 commodore. “The staff members that we have are family to us. We believe and give to them and they give back to us.”

Wynn explained that one club member had this to say after the fire: “The clubhouse was just a building; the Yacht Club is about the people.”

The Yacht Club has discussed expanding its sailing center to provide greater resources for the community. The club expects the plans and renderings for the new club facility will be unveiled this summer.

Some of the staff members have left the club since the incident and others have stayed.

“Our staff is smaller now since the fire,” said Wynn. “We have less services being offered at the moment, but many staffers who left the club for other jobs have offered to come back once the club becomes (fully) operational again.”

The cause of the fire is still unknown. There have been different ideas and theories on how the fire started, but there has not been a definitive answer. But there was no foul play, Wynn emphasized.

”Right now, we don’t have a final number on what it’s going to cost to rebuild,” said Wynn. “We have architects and plans on rebuilding. We have members of the community who are donating services to help cut the cost (of our rebuild).”

More information about the club will be released closer to the clubhouse reopening. Wynn said the rebuild will both honor the club's history and heritage and also add modern touches.

Wynn said the club's experience dealing with insurance after the fire has been good and the matter soon will be resolved. The experience was much better than the ones many people had after Hurricane Michael, he noted.

Wynn also is humbled and gratified by the outpouring of support and dedication from his fellow club leaders and all club members. He knew his one-year term as commodore, which began in January, would be full of challenges. But the club has rallied because the tradition and legacy mean so much.

"People care so deeply," he said.
