On board Sunreef catamaran Great White with tennis superstar Rafael Nadal

International tennis superstar Rafael Nadal had his 24-metre Sunreef power catamaran Great White delivered to him in 2020. In this exclusive interview, BOAT finds out how Nadal uses his boat to enjoy life on the water in between sessions on the court... 

He’s a singles tennis star, but when it comes to hulls, Rafael Nadal is now very much a doubles man. His 23.9-metre 80 Sunreef Power catamaran Great White features a flybridge with a bar and barbeque, a stern garage for a jet ski, an elegant interior in cream and coffee tones, and 360 square metres of living space.

His passion for boats began in childhood, zipping around his home island of Mallorca in his father’s Riviera power boat. He began his own yachting career with a Princess V62, followed in 2017 by Monte Carlo Yachts ’ MCY 76 – nipping home between gruelling tournaments for short snorkelling trips or a night of peace on board. But chartering a Sunreef 74 sailing catamaran made him realise what two hulls can offer. “I met great crew and visited amazing places in the Bahamas,” he recalls. “Those seven days with my family on board were unforgettable – especially thanks to the huge amount of space and comfort. Those were the main reasons that now I own one of Sunreef’s catamarans.”

For Nadal it was all about space. "I have only owned monohulls and on a catamaran I was captivated by the huge amount of space. Honestly, in my small port [in Mallorca], the 80 Sunreef Power is the biggest boat that can dock there. It’s great for me that I can have it here in Porto Cristo, located in front of my house. The huge amount of space that my catamaran has is unreachable by any monohull up to [30 metres]. That is for me the main reason for switching from monohull to multihull."

Nadal said he intended to use  Great White  around the coastline of his home island Mallorca as a break from his intense training schedule. “The pressure of competing every single day is high, you can’t hide that,” he said. “When I come back home, I have the chance to go out and spend maybe just one day away from everything without thinking about tennis, just diving and spending the night on board.”

Designed in-house, the fully customised catamaran is intended for long cruises and features “bold, contemporary hull styling,” the yard said. "I wanted to feel like in my own house," said Nadal on the interior concept. "Of course I had some special requests. I didn’t want a Jacuzzi on the flybridge, because I prefer open spaces. I don’t need features like Jacuzzis on board – I have water around the boat to swim in and enjoy."

Key exterior details include stainless steel portlights, high bulwarks and subtle ambient lighting, as well as a superyacht tender garage large enough to hold a tender, Jet Ski and other water toys. Accommodation on board  Great White  is for a total of eight guests in four cabins, with the owner’s suite sitting in the starboard hull alongside another guest cabin and the crew quarters. Nadal’s master suite features a walk-in dressing room, sofa, flip-down ceiling TV above the double bed and a private fold-down balcony.

“Every time I have the chance, I come back to Mallorca and get on the water. I have always loved the feeling of adventure a boat offers you. You feel free.”

Rafael Nadal’s New Custom 80 Sunreef Power Yacht Arrives in Mallorca

Launched last month at the Sunreef Yachts shipyard in Gdansk – Poland, the 80 Sunreef Power catamaran was officially handed over to her owner – Rafael Nadal in his hometown in Mallorca, last week.

One of the world’s top tennis players, Rafael Nadal, readily shares his passion for yachting, a love of which he has had since childhood. Before commissioning the 80 Sunreef Power , Rafael Nadal and his family spent their holidays chartering a Sunreef Yachts’ sailing catamaran.

This is an unforgettable event for our shipyard to hand over the yacht to such an amazing person and athlete as Rafael Nadal. My team in Gdańsk made every effort to create the yacht Rafa and his wife Maria dreamed of. I am convinced that they will have a great time with their friends and family on board.

The 80 Sunreef Power yacht ordered by Rafael Nadal is an ultramodern vessel created for long offshore cruising and featuring a living area of over 360 m2. This dynamic and elegant model combines comfort and exceptional seaworthiness.

The yacht has fully personalized interiors, including an impressive main deck saloon with access to the front terrace, an owner’s suite with an opening side balcony and luxurious guest cabins with en-suite bathrooms.

The whole interior is kept in bright elegant beige, cream and coffee colors. Among the yacht’s spectacular features is a spacious flybridge with bar, barbeque and relaxation area as well as a stern garage for jet ski. The yacht is equipped with twin 1200 HP engines.

Take a peek inside the multihull yacht for an idea of how the sports celeb may be spending his time on board.

Last year, international tennis superstar Rafael Nadal famously sold his US$3.3 million yacht known as the Beethoven. Not long after, he ordered another custom-made 80-foot luxury yacht: a Sunreef 80 Catamaran with a price tag of US$6.2 million.

The brand new water toy arrived in his hometown of Mallorca, Spain, just in time for his 34 th birthday earlier this month. Unsurprisingly, the world no.2 men’s singles tennis player took it for a spin to celebrate the occasion with his newly wedded wife (as of last October), Xisca Perelló.

“As someone from an island, as I am, the sea is part of our lives and it’s not a secret that I love the sea. Every time I am at home in Mallorca I try to go out and find that time where I can just enjoy my time on a boat,” Rafa said of his splurge.

Boasting 4,000 square feet of space, the yacht is designed for long cruises and can accommodate up to 12 people on board. It is powered by twin 1,200 hp engines that allows the vessel to reach a top speed of 24 knots or cruise speed of 14 knots.

There’s an expansive flybridge with a fully equipped wet bar, a barbecue area and a lounge with sun pads. Plus, the sizeable garage can store a number of jet skis and other water toys. But the interiors are where the 19-time Grand Slam winner lends his personal touch.

Sleek, modern and sophisticated, the interiors feature a large main deck saloon with direct access to the front terrace, four guest cabins with en-suite bathrooms and an exquisite owner’s suite with a private fold-out balcony. We’d imagine Rafa getting his tan on while enjoying the view from the modern owner’s sea terrace.

Sunreef Yachts has announced its latest high-profile customer, after Rafael Nadal ordered an 80 Power catamaran

Tennis star and keen boater Rafael Nadal will be the proud owner of one of the first Sunreef 80 Power catamarans after buying into the Polish yard’s new flagship range.

As comfortable on the water as he is on a clay court, Nadal cites his childhood in Mallorca as the reason why he’s so keen to spend his downtime boating.

“As someone from an island as I am, the sea is part of our lives and it’s not a secret that I love the sea,” he said. “Every time I am at home in Mallorca I try to go out and find that time where I can just enjoy my time on a boat.”

Having previously chartered a Sunreef yacht, the 18-time Grand Slam winner is well acquainted with the Polish yard’s work.

“I am very happy to [join the] Sunreef Yachts family and would like to thank [yard founder and president] Francis Lapp for making this possible,” he added.

The Sunreef 80 Power is making its public debut at the 2019 Cannes Yachting Festival , although Nadal’s fully-customised version will not be delivered until next year.

Nadal also owns an MCY76 called Beethoven , which was listed for sale earlier this year with Camper & Nicholsons, asking €2.6million.

Inside Rafael Nadal's 'Great White' Yacht

Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal has a new yacht and, to put it mildly, it's a real looker. Not just because it's from renowned builder Sunreef yachts, but because it's truly one of a kind. The Polish shipyard added an insane list of custom features in accordance with the wishes of Nadal and his wife Maria, both of whom were actively involved in the build process (they're also ambassadors for Sunreef as a result).

Some of those specialty features include Rafa's custom Nike logo on the big screen tv mounts in the salon (and there are three massive 77" in tv's, one of which is somehow waterproof), a dropdown terrace in the master suite that creates a water-level lookout at the foot of the king size bed, and a custom Heineken beer tap on the flybridge. The 'garage' is also accessible directly underneath the rear salon, where an electronic lift pulls back the stern lounge to reveal a jet ski, a SEABOB, and a surf foil. While Great White is by no means a small yacht, at 80 feet long it's shocking that it manages to pack 4,000 square feet of comfortable living space. She has a top speed of 24 knots (27 mph), which a cruising speed of 14 knots (16 mph).

Former F1 champ Nico Rosberg recently took a tour around Great White, and it's a great look at a masterfully built boat. Nadal is also a truly interesting and humble guy, and there are some good lessons for everyone.

Nadal mentions that the flybridge was recently damaged in a thunderstorm (of which he takes responsibility for encouraging the captain to take him out in bad weather), and I wish we could get the backstory on that. The tour doesn't seem to include the entire flybridge, so something is afoot there.

As for who has the best celebrity yacht, there may be some footitus going on. Tom Brady recently went up in size to a Wajer 77 , and Nadal matched the length of Michael Jordan's 80-foot Viking sportfishing yacht Catch 23 . Length doesn't always tell the full story, though. NBA champ Klay Thompson rides around in a measly 37-foot fishing boat, but it's an Axopar 37 Cabin , so he gets some slack. And Conor McGregor's tiny 63-foot boat doesn't match up with the big boys either, but it's literally a Lamborghini boat , so he gets a pass. If we are judging length (and let's be honest, some of us will), Tony Parker reigns supreme with a 115-foot expedition yacht .

The tennis world champion has a passion for beautiful motoryachts. Today, he shows us, in pictures, his brand new acquisition, an 80 Sunreef Power, a luxury motoryacht catamaran, an exceptional unit that has enabled the Polish shipyard to enter the super yacht market on the same level.

If there is one development that everyone in the yachting world is watching with great attention, it is the current transfer of part of the clientele from monohull yachts from 100 to 200 feet to catamaran motoryachts from 70 to 120 feet.

This strong trend can easily be explained by a desire on the part of owners for greater privacy on board - less crew - for an equivalent living area and larger volumes.

In fact, demand is exploding in this sector, which reflects the soundness of the strategy of the Polish shipyard Sunreef Yachts, the world leader in semi-custom luxury catamarans, whose move upmarket in recent years is currently enabling it to take full advantage of this strong wave.

Among the latest units delivered by Sunreef, ActuNautique invites you to discover today, the motoryacht delivered a few weeks ago to Rafael Nadal, a unit which is much talked about in the yachting world.

Rafael Nadal, a yachting enthusiast

An experienced sailor, Rafael Nadal has been passionate about yachting since childhood and never misses an opportunity to go out to sea with his friends and family. Having owned monohull yachts until now, he decided to have a custom catamaran built for him after visiting and chartering Sunreef Yachts catamarans in the past.

Seduced by both the design and the living space of the 80 Sunreef Power, he opted for the latest model from the shipyard and took delivery of Great White last month.

Great White, Rafael Nadal's 80 Sunreef Power can accommodate up to 8 guests thanks to its comfortable 4-cabin layout. The starboard hull houses the owner's suite, one of the guest cabins and the crew quarters.

The spacious master suite features a walk-in wardrobe, sofa, overhead fold-out TV and a private sea view balcony. The port hull accommodates two other guest cabins and the catamaran's galley.

Great White's bright saloon offers great comfort with its two large sofas next to the entrance to the aft cockpit, a dining area for 8 people at the bow and two 77" TVs installed back to back. An additional lounge area with sofa is located next to the entrance to the forward sundeck.

The large aft cockpit of the catamaran offers an exceptional open-air dining area, well protected from the sun and sheltered from the wind. Under the large sofa, the aft garage of Great White accommodates a three-seater jet-ski and a selection of nautical toys as well as a refuelling station. A hydraulic platform has been installed to carry the yacht's tender and provide additional space for sunbathing on the water's edge.

The flybridge is the privileged relaxation area where guests enjoy an outdoor lounge equipped with solariums and a bar.

Equipped with two 1200 HP engines, the 80 Sunreef Power Great White expects a top speed of 23 knots and a cruising speed of 16 knots.

There are only two things Rafael Nadal is known to be passionate about: Tennis and his hometown of Mallorca, Spain. Growing up on an island, the sea has been an essential part of Nadal’s life. Whenever the tennis star is not seen winning one of his Grand Slam titles, he uses the off-season to cruise on a boat along the shores of Mallorca. When the opportunity to buy a customized superyacht presented itself, Nadal did not hesitate. With a sprawling net worth of $200 million , $124 million coming from his tennis salary, the athlete has spent his money on limited luxuries. Along with his beautiful estate in his hometown, the superyacht by Sunreef is one of his priciest purchases made for $6 million as a birthday gift.

From the outlines of the exterior to the color scheme and setting on the interior, every line and curve on the superyacht is customized by Rafael Nadal and his wife, Maria Perello. Named The Great White, let’s take a detailed look inside the tennis star’s superyacht.

Nadal’s gorgeous yacht was displayed at the 2020 Monaco Yacht Show after being delivered to the tennis star in June 2020. The Sunreef 80-foot catamaran called Great White currently resides on the shores of Mallorca. The Founder and President of Sunreef Francis Lapp detailed the delivery to be an unforgettable experience for him. As mentioned by Boat International , the yacht was made in Gdańsk, Poland, and Nadal and his wife Maria Perello had active inputs to design the structure as they wanted.

The decision to buy the Catamaran came after Nadal had experienced chartering yachts from Sunreef. When he met President Francis Lapp in 2018 at the Cannes Yachting Festival, he decided to commission a customized yacht. The multi-hull yacht comes with two engines that provide a 1,200 HP output and have a top speed of 24 knots. The Great White features high bulwarks, steel portlights, and ambient lighting for a comforting glow. While the exterior is robust, the interior living space of 4,000 sq. ft. is customized to perfection to make every stay luxurious.

For the interior, Nadal chose to decorate the yacht with his favorite color scheme of beige, coffee, and cream, as stated by Forbes . Nadal chose a four guest cabin layout for the yacht, which provides an airy space within the corridors. They all are equipped with ensuite bathrooms and offer stunning views of the sea. The yacht can house 12 guests and 4 crew members at once.

The Great White has a special Master Suite on the starboard side of the yacht on the Main Deck that is the epitome of luxury. It features a walk-in dressing room, a private fold-down balcony, a sofa, and a flip-down ceiling TV located above the comfortable double bed. The deck also consists of the main saloon that has glazed windows and a spacious dining area. It can seat up to 8 guests at a time. Two 77-inch TVs turn the saloon into a sports corner to watch a game while enjoying time on the yacht.

The flybridge is equipped with stations for outdoor activities. According to Unique News Online , it has a barbecue station, wet bar, and a relaxation area that contains sun pads for tanning. To enhance the calming experience, the Upper Deck comes with a Waterfall spa pool, one of the unique features of the custom yacht .

Along with a myriad of features, there is enough room to store equipment for sports adventures. With additional pop-up televisions and hydraulic swim platforms, the Catamaran has a spacious garage to hold Jet Skis, tender, and water toys to be enjoyed at any time, as noted by Robb Report . Sunreef has ensured that there are enough areas to relax and enjoy the sun at the same time. Since Nadal prefers to swim, snorkel and tan, the yacht is created to cater to his needs.

Rafael Nadal is known to spend most of his off-season time in his hometown in Mallorca , where he owns a gorgeous stone chalet closer to his parents. The Mediterranean-style mansion overlooks the sea and the Porto Cristo Nautical Club, where his $6 million yacht is usually parked. Nadal has already been making good use of The Great White and has been spotted vacationing with his family on the Balearic Islands.

Incorporation of the Mediterranean beauty and soft textures, the Great White is worth every penny. The superyacht by Sunreef is bold and contemporary and the ideal model designed for long cruises. The superyacht was displayed again at the 2021 Monaco Yacht Show between September 22 and 25, where people got to climb aboard the beautiful yacht and take a peek around.

An avid multihull enthusiast, the international tennis superstar has selected the shipyard’s latest motor yacht model, having visited and chartered Sunreef Yachts’ catamarans in the past.

With Rafa’s impending marriage to Mary, they will celebrate the end of single life in their own way.

Mary went with friends to Malageña to celebrate her last summer as a single woman.

Rafa plans to take friends to Sardinia to celebrate the end of bachelorhood. They will then come to the US for a road trip along Route 66 culminating in LAS VEGAS. That should be a blast.

Part one of Rafa’s bachelor party has already happened. I bet part two is immediately after the USO and they go to see Maná in Las Vegas. I believe Maná are one of Rafa’s favourite bands.

Rafael Nadal ’s coveted Sunreef catamaran Great White , which was recently awarded Best Power Cat in our annual round-up, will be exclusively showcased at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show from September 22-25.

Set in the picturesque Port Hercules, the world’s premier yachting event gathers the crème de la crème of yachts and yards. The tennis star’s prized multihull will be on display for all to see by the QC 11 stand at the Quai Chicane, but Sunreef will also hold pre-arranged viewings so you can actually step aboard Nadal’s floating abode.

Great White.  Sunreef Yachts

The 35-year-old tennis pro commissioned Great White  in July 2019 and took delivery of the 80-footer last summer. Fit for a former World No. 1, the custom cruiser sports a sleek silhouette with clean lines and an azure-colored hull. She’s fitted with two 1,200 hp engines that help her perform like a star athlete and afford a top speed of 24 knots or cruise speed of 14 knots.

It’s the inside that really sets Great White apart from her peers, though. The cat features a contemporary yet understated interior that spans almost 4,000 square feet and represents one of the largest in class. The centerpiece is a generous main salon with two 77-inch sports-center televisions, a dining space that seats eight and a plush lounge.

Another highlight is the master stateroom. Located in the starboard hull, it sports a flip-down ceiling TV above the bed, a walk-in dressing room, sofa and a private fold-out balcony. Elsewhere, there are three guest cabins plus two for the crew.

The exterior, meanwhile, comprises a full-beam alfresco dining area with a weatherproof TV, a relaxation area on the flybridge with sun pads and another pop-up TV, plus a hydraulic swim platform. The cat is also equipped with a garage to the aft that holds Jet Skis, water toys and a tender.

In addition to Nadal’s pride and joy, Sunreef will also exhibit luxury cat Double Happiness . The bespoke 80-footer, which is part of the yard’s acclaimed line of sail catamarans, comes with a spectacular main deck saloon as well as an imposing flybridge.

Rafael Nadal has bought himself another luxury yacht.

The sea-loving tennis champion is used to life offshore. When he's not racking up titles on the ATP tour, Nadal likes to climb aboard million-dollar vessels, go on vacation, and live on the sea.

Last month, Robb Report said Nadal had listed his 76-foot Italian-built MCY 76 motor yacht, named Beethoven, for $3 million with Camper & Nicholsons International .

He has frequently spoken of his love for seafood, paella, and shrimp dumplings , and he likely enjoys all those things when he is living his best life away from the clay, grass, and hard courts of tennis and spending his downtime at sea.

"I love the sea," he said in marketing material published by Sunreef Yachts , adding, "As someone from an island as I am, the sea is part of our lives."

He said that "every time I am at home in Mallorca I try to go out and find that time where I can just enjoy my time on a boat."

According to the marketing material, Nadal has splashed the cash on a custom 80-foot Sunreef Power catamaran.

"We are very excited to have one of the greatest tennis players of all time on board with us," said Francis Lapp, the founder and president of Sunreef Yachts. "Mr. Nadal's personality, skills and strength are an inspiration to us."

This is the 80 Sunreef Power catamaran, the latest yacht in the company's fleet of deluxe vessels. It is unclear how much one costs, but the 70 Sunreef Power catamaran can be yours for approximately $3 million.

Incredible super yacht sums up Rafael Nadal’s next-level life of luxury

Rafael Nadal has created his own slice of tennis history.

The Spanish legend, 35, claimed a record 21st grand slam title after d efeating Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open final on Sunday.

But as The Sun reports, off the court, Nadal lives a life of luxury generated by the huge sums of money he has earned from being an ace on it. The tennis star has made a whopping $AUD285 million during his illustrious career, with more to come after his epic win Down Under.

He lives in a stunning beachfront Majorcan mansion, which he paid around $5.7 million for in 2013. The Real Madrid super fan also splashed some cash on a private jet — a Cessna Citation CJ2+ that cost $9.5 million and flies him to tournaments around the globe.

Nadal can also travel by sea in his stunning $8.5 million 80 Sunreef Power catamaran, a super yacht he had custom-made.

He has had insurance worker Maria Francisca Perello by his side throughout his success, with the pair finally marrying in 2019 after 14 years together.

By land and by sea

Back in 2019, Nadal traded in one yacht for another. He sold his 76-foot Italian-built MCY 76 motor yacht he called Beethoven for a cool $3.8 million. Then, he put that money towards buying his amazing customised 80 Sunreef Power catamaran.

Built for long cruises and not skimping on full comfort, the 80 Sunreef Power is powered by two 1,200 horsepower engines.

It has a personal jet ski garage and a 12m beam with a superyacht-style flybridge that offers a vast living space big enough to house a hot tub, a bar and waterfall-fed pool.

The main deck can be set up in a variety of ways, dependent on your dining needs with different seating, an open plan kitchen and a bar.

The master suite, which is also on the main deck, offers sea views, as well as natural light thanks to the skylight overhead. It has an ensuite bathroom with a shower, a spacious closet and a desk.

There are four guest cabins and two crew cabins, with up to 12 guests able to be accommodated at one time.

The yacht also has an eight-person dining table and two large-screen TVs that measure 195cm each.

Nadal has always had an affiliation with the ocean. “As someone from an island as I am, the sea is part of our lives and it’s not a secret that I love the sea,” he said in a statement after acquiring the yacht.

“Every time I am at home in Mallorca I try to go out and find that time where I can just enjoy my time on a boat.”

A home with a view

Although Nadal likes to remain private, like many professional athletes he gave us a glimpse into his amazing home in the Balearic Islands, off the east coast of Spain, during lockdown in 2020.

Found in Porto Cristo, Manacor, he paid $5.7 million for the stunning beach property that spans just over 1000 square metres. It was reported Nadal spent seven years renovating the mansion and pulled down some of the buildings before it became a dream place to live.

The design, from what his followers were shown on Instagram, is minimalist with all the essentials Nadal needs.

He has a fully-equipped gym to keep on top of his fitness while in his downtime, he can enjoy views of the Mediterranean Sea and idyllic coves from his window.

Time to fly

It’s amazing to think that in 2010, Nadal tried to get on an economy flight to the Match for Africa until rival Roger Federer gave him a lift in his private jet.

Not wanting to get stuck again, the 13-time French Open winner decided to buy his own plane - a Cessna Citation CJ2+. Only 223 of the jets were made and it costs around $400,000 per-year to maintain, accommodating eight passengers in luxury.

Sharing his life

Despite spending most of his time travelling around the world, the one constant in his life is wife Maria, 33. Better known as Xisca Perello, she has never been one to hog the limelight or a celebrity lifestyle.

“It’s not a world I want to be part of, nor do I think Rafa would have chosen to be with a woman who looked for that in life,” she once said.

They met in the early 2000s and were firm friends before they started dating in 2005. They married in 2019 in a star-studded ceremony in front of around 350 guests at the La Fortaleza castle in Majorca.

Celebrities in tow to watch the couple’s nuptials included actors Tom Hiddleston, Olivia Colman and Hugh Laurie. But you’ll rarely see her on the circuit cheering Rafael on.

“He needs his space when he is competing, and just the idea of me hanging around and waiting on his needs all day tires me out,” she told The Telegraph in 2011.

“It would asphyxiate me. And then he would have to be worrying about me … No. If I followed him everywhere, I think there’s a risk we might stop getting along.”
