Rest assured, all your subscriptions, whether monthly or yearly, will be matched accordingly. Your My Fleets and Tags, along with your Credit Points, will also be transferred to your new MarineTraffic account. Additionally, we will assist you in smoothly transferring your My Zones.

If your contract with FleetMon has already expired, there's no need to worry. The free version is not too bad, but not great. Shows outdated ship position info. For example, I was tracking container ship CMA CGM Saigon. This app had ship position 13 days old. Marine traffic had AIS position 2 minutes old. Not worth $10 to me for more accurate ship position. I was looking to see if i could find something better than Marine Traffic, guess there isn't one.

I was recently in Savannah & LOVED watching the gigantic container ships/cargo ships/tankers going by River St. & I kept asking everyone I’d meet there asking them how do you know when they’re going to pass by & a worker at the visitor center finally told me about this app & I downloaded it right away & haven’t missed a vessel yet!! It is the answer! It is perfect. You can zoom out to Tybee & beyond to see specifically what is coming & going. You won’t be disappointed. And it’s free. Thank you so much, VesselFinder Lite!

I downloaded this app for fun thing it would be a nice thing to do when I’m bored. Turns out the app is a scam. I download what seemed to be a FREE GAME and was instantly charged 9$ that I can’t get back. After this I at least hoped the app would make it worth it but it was terrible. Nothing was up to date and half the ships didn’t have pictures of them so it was a waste of time. Do not buy this app if you want to save your time and money.

Argentina has clinched a spot in the quarterfinals at Copa America, but the last match wasn’t all good news for the defending champions.

A 1-0 win over Chile was overshadowed by a potential injury to Lionel Messi. As explained by the Associated Press , Messi took some time off the pitch in the middle of the first half to have a the area around his right thigh treated.

Messi, who just turned 37, said it was “nothing serious” after the win.

“It’s bothering me a little bit but I was able to finish the match,” Messi said. “It was hard for me to move freely, particularly side to side. We’ll see tomorrow how it feels.”

Yemen’s Houthi rebels target ship in the Gulf of Aden as the Eisenhower aircraft carrier heads home

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — An attack by Yemen’s Houthi rebels targeted a commercial ship traveling through the Gulf of Aden but apparently caused no damage, authorities said Saturday, in the latest strike on the shipping lane by the group.

The Houthi attack comes after  the sinking this week of the ship Tutor , which marked what appears to be a new escalation by the Iranian-backed Houthis in their campaign of strikes on ships in the vital maritime corridor over the  Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip .

Meanwhile, the U.S. military ordered  the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower , the aircraft carrier leading America’s response to the Houthi attacks, to return home after a twice-extended tour.

The captain of the ship targeted late Friday saw “explosions in the vicinity of the vessel,” the British military’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center said. A later briefing by the U.S.-overseen Joint Maritime Information Center said the vessel initially reported two explosions off its port side and a third one later.

“The vessel was not hit and sustained no damage,” the center said. “The vessel and crew are reported to be safe and are proceeding to their next port of call.”

The Houthis, who have held Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, since 2014, claimed the attack Saturday night. Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree, a Houthi military spokesman, identified the vessel targeted as the bulk carrier Transworld Navigator.

The  Houthis have launched more than 60 attacks  targeting specific vessels and fired off other missiles and drones in their campaign that has killed a total of four sailors. They have seized one vessel and sunk two since November. A U.S.-led airstrike campaign has targeted the Houthis since January, with  a series of strikes May 30  killing at least 16 people and wounding 42 others, the rebels say.

In March,  the Belize-flagged Rubymar carrying fertilizer became the first to sink in the Red Sea  after taking on water for days following a rebel attack.

The Houthis have maintained that their attacks target ships linked to Israel, the United States or Britain. However, many of the ships attacked have little or no connection to the Israel-Hamas war.

The  Eisenhower , based in Norfolk, Virginia, is returning home after  an over eight-month deployment  in combat that the Navy says is  its most intense since World War II . The San Diego-based  USS Theodore Roosevelt  will take the Eisenhower’s place after a scheduled exercise in the Indo-Pacific, according to the Pentagon’s press secretary, Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder.

The Roosevelt anchored Saturday in Busan, South Korea, amid Seoul’s ongoing tensions with North Korea .

The Eisenhower had already reached the Mediterranean Sea, said a U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss ship movements. Flight-tracking data analyzed by The Associated Press showed a Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk helicopter associated with the Eisenhower flying above the Mediterranean just off the coast of Port Said, Egypt, on Saturday night.

The Eisenhower had repeatedly been targeted by false attack claims by the Houthis during its time in the Red Sea. Saree on Saturday night claimed another attack on the carrier — but again provided no evidence to support it as the ship already had left the area.

NEW YORK – New York City Mayor Eric Adams today announced 10,000 free tickets to the general public to view the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks from Hudson River Park’s Pier 45 or Pier 84 in Manhattan. To learn more or get tickets, visit   www.nycjuly4.com . Tickets will go live on Wednesday, June 26th at 10:00AM and will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Each member of the public will be limited to two tickets. The fireworks show will be visible all along the West Side Highway for those who do not receive a ticket. FBI: Ex-Detroit Riverfront CFO tried to sell secret yacht, Mexico condo. Judge freezes assets

A judge has frozen up to $39 million in assets potentially held by the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy's ex-finance officer as newly unsealed court filings bring to light the extent of his lavish spending with allegedly stolen nonprofit funds, including on a condo in Mexico, a yacht, and multiple properties in Georgia, Texas and Michigan.

The restraining order issued by Judge Linda Parker on Monday came after federal authorities alleged in court filings that William Smith had begun selling or attempting to sell properties and other assets since coming under investigation for alleged embezzlement. He was charged earlier this month with wire and bank fraud stemming from an alleged scheme that for more than a decade went undetected by the nonprofit governed by some of the region’s top business, philanthropic and civic leaders.

"The Government has a strong likelihood of establishing by a preponderance of the evidence that (Smith) is alienating or disposing of property, and intends to alienate or dispose of property ... including transferring assets to family members or his corporate entities for nominal amounts, and attempting to sell real estate and his yacht to third parties," Parker's order states. "There is a strong likelihood of irreparable injury to Smith’s victims, including the Conservancy, Comerica Bank, and the Conservancy’s donors and financial partners, unless this order is issued."

The Conservancy has said it's exploring avenues to recoup the nearly $40 million Smith is accused of stealing from the organization from November 2012 through March 2024. It applauded Parker's decision in a Monday statement.

“We are thankful for the swift action taken by the government and law enforcement to retrieve the money stolen from the Conservancy,” said Matt Cullen, Board Chair of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. “This is a crucial step in ensuring that no one will get away with stealing from the Conservancy and the people of Detroit."

The filings unsealed Monday signal additional charges, including money laundering, are possible for Smith, as the investigation continues.

"It appears that Smith has used the millions he defrauded from the Conservancy and Citizens Bank — along with a more limited amount of his own funds — to amass and/or improve a substantial amount of real property in the states of Michigan (including Northville, Redford, Detroit and Idlewild), Texas, Georgia, and the country of Mexico," Special FBI agent Timothy Hoff writes in an affidavit unsealed Monday, adding: "His efforts are facilitated by numerous LLCs under his direction and control."

Hoff went on to state: "Smith's fraud scheme .... involved electronic transfers of approximately $39.3 million ... Those allegations will not be repeated here, other than to summarize the high likelihood of multiple money laundering violations."

The U.S. Attorney's Office declined to comment on the new filings. Smith's lawyer, Gerald Evelyn, did not return calls for comment.

According to the government, Smith used his job with the conservancy to line is own pockets for more than a decade, allegedly using stolen nonprofit funds to pay for — among other things — interior design renovations, airline tickets, hotels, limousines, household goods, lawn care, clothing and jewelry. That includes allegedly spending Conservancy funds to pay nearly $15 million in American Express credit card bills for himself and his family members.

And he was careful not to get caught, the government alleges.

"Smith appears to have knowingly conducted transactions using the proceeds of his fraud in transactions designed to conceal the nature, location, source, ownership and control of those proceeds," the affidavit states.

The government says this is how Smith moved money around:

The affidavit states, on Sept. 1, 2016, Smith wired $85,000 in Conservancy funds to The Joseph Group. The next day, he transferred $65,000 from The Joseph Group account to another account.

"Based upon my training and experience, I know that the movement of funds obtained from unlawful activity through multiple accounts is a technique used in money laundering," Hoff writes.

FBI: Smith hiding assets

According to the latest filing, Smith had notice that he was being investigated months ago, when the Conservancy became concerned about bookkeeping and requested additional explanations of sources and uses of Conservancy funds from Smith. Before the federal government even became involved, the FBI says, Smith was told that the case was being referred to law enforcement.

But the FBI says it would soon learn that Smith was engaging "in an ongoing effort to transfer assets that would otherwise be available to repay his victims."

For example, the FBI says it discovered a nearly $800,000 home in Atlanta that Smith controls. He bought the home in 2020 for $665,000 and transferred the property by quit claim deed to YBE Investments, LLC, an entity under his control.

According to a Zillow listing, the house has been listed for sale since May 28, less than two weeks after Smith was placed on unpaid leave.

PARIS (AP) — Darius Pollock is hitting 3-pointers on a court behind the centuries-old Saint Paul church near Place de la Bastille and its famed column.

The 20-year-old Parisian is one of many players who can be found on courts around the French capital any day of the week. And at the center of basketball conversations in the country is Victor Wembanyama’s rise to NBA stardom.

“It has unlocked something in France,” Pollock said.

He’s not wrong.

Basketball’s popularity is rising — it could skyrocket during the Paris Olympics with the anticipation surrounding the French men’s team. More kids are signing up for teams as the country churns out top NBA draft picks.

France has produced NBA players before, the most famous being point guard Tony Parker — a four-time NBA champion whose No. 9 jersey was retired by the San Antonio Spurs. Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert was this season’s NBA Defensive Player of the Year .

But now it’s in overdrive.

Last year there was Wembanyama — a generational talent who as expected went No. 1 in the draft. Two more young Frenchmen — Zaccharie Risacher, Alexandre Sarr — are expected to be top picks Wednesday. They might even go Nos. 1 and 2. A third, Tidjane Salaün, is projected to be selected high in the first round.

“I’m very proud of them. It makes it seem like the NBA dream is possible,” Antonin Guezel, a local basketball player in Paris, told The Associated Press. “Some of these talents grew up here, Victor is from the Paris area.”

Female French players haven’t yet had the same impact on the WNBA, but they are trending up. In April’s draft, two French players were selected — Carla Leite (No. 9, Dallas) and Leila Lacan (No. 10, Connecticut).

The 21-year-old Guezel hones his skills at Glacière, a court crammed under an overhead subway station in the 13th arrondissement (district), and one of many outdoor courts scattered around Paris.

There are about 750,000 people registered with basketball clubs in France — nearly 70,000 more than two years ago and an increase of 170,000 since 2014. And that’s just the official count. Like in the United States, plenty of hoopers just grab a ball and find a court to shootaround or play in a pickup game.

Basketball — “le Basket” — has never been more popular here, sports historian Lindsay Krasnoff points out.

“On all the courts I pass now, there is always someone playing,” said Krasnoff, author of “Basketball Empire.”

Seeing teenagers around Paris wearing NBA jerseys and a basketball under their arm is now a common sight, she added.

One popular spot can be found behind Halle Carpentier — Jemmapes — where the nearby high-rise flats tower over the courts near the popular Saint-Martin canal. Players sit on the sidelines, waiting their turn, as 4-on-4 games take place — first to 21 points win, or first to 16 on more crowded days.

With the fences practically just arm’s reach from the court, Jemmapes resembles the iconic West 4th Street courts in New York City. Trash talking is encouraged and fouls are rarely called.

“If you call a foul here, you are weak. So you shut your mouth,” said Lina Redjem, the only woman among more than 30 players waiting to get on the court.

Harnessing Talent

France has a proud history when it comes to basketball.

The country boasts of holding the first recorded basketball game in Europe during the 1890s at the Trévise court , near Paris’ famed Pigalle nightlife spots.

But the foundation of the country’s talent pipeline can be traced back to 1975 when the Paris-based National Institute of Sport, Expertise, and Performance — known as INSEP — started training elite athletes across several sports.

Basketball was among them.

Parker went from being INSEP’s rising star to NBA Finals MVP in 2007. Ten years earlier, Parker’s ability left coaches awestruck.

“We all said ‘this guy is not from the same planet,’” Bernard Faure, a junior teams coach at INSEP, told The AP. “Leadership, athleticism, precision. He had everything.”

Detroit Pistons guard Evan Fournier and former NBA players Boris Diaw and Ronny Turiaf also came through INSEP — as did the 18-year-old Salaün, a 6-foot 9-forward.

“Our system has proved itself,” said Gilles Thomas, INSEP’s basketball director. “Exceptional players are discovered very early. Our system of grid detection makes it really rare for us to miss a talent.”

INSEP has its own team. Last month, the INSEP boys team lost the EuroLeague junior final by one point to Real Madrid.

Players graduate from INSEP and can start competing professionally for French teams when still in their teens.

“The ideal path to the NBA is (playing) in France. Our talents play against professionals at a very young age,” Faure said.

INSEP scours the country and its overseas territories to bring in the top 36 boys and 36 girls for training camps. Around 20 teenagers are selected.

INSEP’s model has also helped club academies better develop young players.

Wembanyama’s formative club, Paris-based Nanterre, occasionally loaned him to INSEP’s team. Wembanyama then went to ASVEL near Lyon — where Parker is club president — before joining Paris-based Metropolitans 92 .

Style of Play

The 19-year-old Risacher won the French league’s best young player award last season while playing for JL Bourg.

The team’s coach, Frédéric Fauthoux, says the French brand of basketball “is very athletic,” which can ease the transition to the NBA or college basketball in the U.S.

“That’s what separates us from our European rivals and connects us to the style played in America,” he said. “We know how to develop them into tall and versatile players that the NBA craves. ... Young French players experience the French championship, which is very rough and athletic, and play against European teams who are much more tactical.”

David Kahn agrees. The 62-year-old American is the president at Paris Basketball club and was formerly president of the NBA’s Timberwolves.

Risacher stands out, Kahn said, because he has “a more modern skillset with an NBA frame.”

Kahn believes basketball’s popularity in France may soon rival soccer — a tall task with the likes of superstar Kylian Mbappé leading Les Bleus .

“Some kids that might have grown up thinking about playing football now start thinking about basketball,” Kahn told The AP at his team’s offices. “This will continue year after year with French basketball producing this kind of talent.”

The upcoming Paris Games will provide a huge opportunity for French basketball enthusiasts to win over even more fans — and future players.

France narrowly lost the last Olympic men’s final while the women took home the bronze at the Tokyo Games.

Neither team has won an Olympic gold medal in basketball but with Wembanyama on the men’s roster, expectations are soaring.

“These Olympics will be yet another sort of jumping up, trampoline effect,” Kahn said. “There will be an outsized attention placed on the French basketball team.”
