Technically, using a broker to charter a yacht is at your discretion; however, if it is your first time chartering, using a broker comes highly recommended – especially when hiring a larger-than-life superyacht. Yacht brokers will draw upon a large network of connections and extensive industry knowledge to help find the best vessel for your unique requirements.

Once you’ve had an initial consultation, a broker will typically offer a selection of yachts that suit your needs and help you make a final decision. From here, the yacht broker will handle the entire booking process, from securing the initial boat booking to planning each element of your onboard itinerary, including docking points. A reputable yacht charter broker will also be available to contact throughout the duration of your time on board, giving you and your guests complete peace of mind.

Occasionally, first-time charters mistakenly think that booking directly will shave some digits off the total cost, but it actually falls on the yacht owner/charter company to pay the broker fees – not the charterer. In fact, you will often find that a broker will rely on their insider connections to secure the best deal for their clients.

When it comes to choosing a yacht broker you have plenty to choose from, but names like Burgess , Fraser and Northrop & Jonson dominate the superyacht realm. Some people opt for a freelance yacht charter broker, but we’d suggest only heading down this route if you have a pre-existing relationship or they come highly recommended by someone you trust. You should also ensure that any broker you work with is a member of the MYBA Worldwide Yachting Association.

How to choose a yacht

As we mentioned, your yacht broker will do the hard work when it comes to choosing a yacht, calling upon their wide boat knowledge to present a selection of yachts to you. However, to be able to do this properly they will need a solid understanding of your preferences, requirements and budget beforehand.

The key things you should consider when chartering a superyacht are: the number of guests you want to bring on board (remember the legal limit for most yachts is 12 guests, including personal staff); whether or not the yacht needs to be child-friendly, the amount of indoor/outdoor space you’d like on board; where you’d like to travel, as many yachts are only available in certain parts of the world; and the on board amenities you’d like – for example, is an indoor swimming pool a priority or does a dancefloor sound more appealing?

The type of yachting vacation you’re seeking is also important when choosing a boat: for intrepid travelers with a taste for adventure, a sturdier explorer yacht such as Silver Yachts’ Bold or Ragnar by Royal Niestern Sand would be more suitable than a classic yacht, designed for luxury and comfort.

However, if it is your first time chartering a superyacht, don’t feel concerned about going in clueless – your yacht broker will be able to guide you through every step of choosing a vessel.

Bareboat vs skippered superyacht charter

When chartering a luxury yacht, you will sometimes be given the choice between a ‘bareboat’ or ‘skippered’ charter – bareboat being a crewless charter and skippered including a full complement of staff. However, you will find that when verging into superyacht territory, all charters are skippered for both your safety and comfort.

Again, you can always discuss the on-board crew specifications with your broker, and this is a good opportunity to outline what you’d like from your yachting experience. For example, if you have a taste for adventure, ensure that there is a watersports instructor within the crew. Looking for a more relaxing on-board experience? Ask your broker to look into securing a masseuse for your journey.

When to book a superyacht charter

When to begin booking a yacht charter is an important question. Leading charter company Northrop & Johnson recommends reaching out to a broker no later than 10 months in advance if you want to travel during peak times (July and August in the summer season, Christmas and New Year during winter), and three to six months ahead for quieter periods. However, with popular yachts booking up as much as a year in advance, it’s advisable to reach out to a broker at least 12 months ahead of time if you have specific boat or date requirements.

When booking in advance, remember that local events will heavily impact availability. For example, if you’re planning a European tour, take note of events such as the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix when both vessels and docking spaces will be in high demand.

How much does it cost to charter a superyacht?

It’s no secret that yacht charters are expensive, with many first-timers unprepared for the hidden costs. It’s generally accepted that the biggest price indicator of a yacht charter is boat size – so if you’re heading into superyacht territory, expect an impressive fee.

However, other factors will impact the cost of chartering a superyacht , such as crew reputation, ship design and the age of the vessel. For example, Fraser Yachts offer a week on the 298.5-ft Moonlight II which was first built in 2005 from €645,000 (approximately $768,200), but prices for the 278-ft Solandge, which was built in 2013 and refitted in 2019, begin at €1m ($1.2m) per week.

Although some charter costs are inclusive, meaning expenses such as captain and crew, fuel, food and drink are included, you’ll find that a ‘plus expenses’ charter is more common. With such charters, only the crew and ship are included in the price, an ‘Advance Provisioning Allowance’ (APA) is used to cover the necessary extras and is usually around 30% of the weekly charter fee. What the APA doesn’t cover however is crew gratuity which although given at your discretion, is expected, with the going rate around 15-20%.

To avoid tarnishing your vacation with unexpected fees and charges, ask your broker for a full price breakdown beforehand, including any potential docking fees and additional taxes.

The Base Charter Fee or cost of a superyacht charter typically covers the hire of the yacht, crew, and the owner’s insurance. Additional charges often include provisioning, fuel, and mooring costs. On average, guests typically spend an additional 25-50 percent of the base charter fee. These additional expenses are covered by the Advanced Provisioning Allowance (APA), which is taken before the charter.

During your yacht charter, the yacht’s captain will keep a log of all costs during your yacht charter, and any excess funds will be returned to you. Precise charges and what is included and not included, is subject to the terms and conditions of the yacht charter. There are various types of charter contracts, depending on your cruising destination, so you should always check with your yacht consultant as to what additional charges there will be. Tipping a yacht’s crew is discretionary when chartering a superyacht. If you wish to tip your crew, it is customary to tip around 10 to 15 percent of the yacht’s charter price.

In the unlikely event that you wish to make a complaint when on a superyacht charter you should first alert the Captain as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can contact your personal yacht consultant who will take the relevant action.

When your yacht is in international waters the yacht will be governed by the yacht’s flag state. When in local waters, the yacht will be governed by local laws. Illegal drugs and weapons are prohibited on board a charter yacht. You may be permitted to smoke Marijuna onboard a charter yacht if it is legal in the yacht’s flag state and at local destinations on your charter itinerary. Your yacht consultant will be able to advise further.

The Language of Chartering A Superyacht

Advanced Provisioning Allowance – an agreed sum that is paid before the start of your yacht charter to cover provisioning, including food and drink, fuel, and mooring costs. Aft – the rear of a yacht. Aft Deck – a deck located at the rear of the yacht. Aft Cabin – a cabin located at the rear of the yacht. Amidship – the middle of the yacht. Anchorage – a location off the coast where a yacht can drop anchor. At Anchor – a yacht that has dropped anchor. Aweigh – a yacht’s anchor that is raised just clear of the sea bed.

Bareboat – a yacht that you can charter without any crew. Base Charter Fee or Rate – the cost of the charter that covers the hire of the charter yacht, which includes use of all the equipment on the yacht and the cost of wages and food for the crew. This will vary depending on the size of the yacht, type of yacht, make, model, and amenities, for example, as well as whether you are cruising in high season or low season. Other aspects that can affect the Base Charter Fee include special events, such as the Monaco Grand Prix and America’s Cup, which can see demand for yacht charters increase. Berth – a cabin or place where a yacht can moor. Bow – the front of a yacht. Beach Club – an area that provides easy access to the sea. Located at the yacht’s stern, some beach clubs include wet bars, sun loungers, and water toys. Buoy – an anchored floating object that serves as a hazard aid or navigational tool.

Cabin – an on-board bedroom or sleeping quarters. Charter Agreement – the agreement that specifies the particulars, including payment terms and policies, when chartering a superyacht. Charter Contract – Tthe charter contract will depend on where in the world you are cruising. The MYBA contract (Worldwide Yachting Association formerly known as the Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association) is the most popular contract used for yacht charters, especially those cruising in the Mediterranean. Other popular contracts for superyacht charters include Caribbean Terms Inclusive or Standard Caribbean Terms. Under these contracts the Base Charter Fee includes three meals a day in addition to four hours of cruising. Other lesser used superyacht charter contracts are the Standard Eastern Mediterranean Terms and Greek Terms. Charter Rate – the agreed cost of the charter. Cockpit – the outdoor area of a sailing yacht where the captain will steer the yacht and charter guest can sit and eat. Crew – the team that manages the day-to-day operations of a charter yacht. The larger the yacht, the larger the crew and the more diverse their skill sets. Standard crew include deckhands, stews and stewardesses, engineers, and a captain. Larger charter yachts may include a chef, masseuse, nanny, sommelier, and dive instructor.

Day Head – a bathroom in a common area onboard a yacht. Displacement – a type of yacht with a hull that pushes aside water. Can also refer to the weight of water displaced by a hull. Draft – the depth of a yacht below the waterline. Yachts with a shallow draft can often moor in smaller harbours. Double Cabin – a cabin with a bed that can sleep two guests.

Explorer Yacht – a yacht designed to explore some of the world’s most remote destinations. Explorer yachts are purpose-built for extended periods at sea.

Flybridge – an open deck above the main bridge of a yacht. Flotilla – a group of boats cruising together.

Galley – the kitchen area on a yacht. Gulet – a traditional type of yacht typically found in Turkey. Gybe – a term that refers to swinging a fore-and-aft sail across a following wind on a sailing yacht.

Harbour Fees – the fee paid by a charter yacht to dock in certain harbours. Harbour fees are typically covered in the Advanced Provisioning Allowance. Harbour Master – the person in charge of a harbour, including the management of harbour traffic. Head – a bathroom. Helm – a yacht’s steering wheel. Hull – the main structure of a yacht. Hybrid Yacht – a yacht that uses both diesel and electric motors for propulsion, a popular charter option with those who seek a yacht that is both luxurious and sustainable.

Ice-Class – a yacht built to ice-class classification can navigate through sea ice. Idle – refers to the lowest speed that a yacht can operate at. Inboard Engine – an engine that is in the yacht, rather than attached to the stern. Itinerary – a personal schedule when chartering a superyacht, including destinations and suggested activities.

Knot – the speed at which the yacht is travelling. One knot is equal to a nautical mile. Ketch – a type of sailing yacht with two masts.

Lee – the side of a yacht that is furthest from the wind. Leeward – the side of a yacht that is sheltered from the wind. Length Over All – the total length of a yacht, from stem to stern.

Main Sail – the largest sail on a sailing yacht. Marina – where yachts dock and charter guests typically board their charter yacht. Mast – the structure that supports the sails on a sailing yacht. Main Saloon – the primary living space onboard a charter yacht. Master Cabin – typically the most spacious and luxurious cabin onboard a yacht, sometimes referred to as an owner’s suite. Megayacht – a professionally crewed yacht that is amongst the largest in the world. Also known as a superyacht. Midship – the centre of a yacht. Motor Yacht – a yacht that is primarily propelled by motors. MultiHull – a charter yacht with more than one hull, such as a catamaran or trimaran. MYBA – the Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association. Members of the MYBA must act under the highest ethical and technical standards. MYBA Contract – a contract that is governed by the Mediterranean Yacht Brokers. Association. An MYBA Contract is regarded as the industry standard when chartering a superyacht.

Nautical Mile – a nautical mile is about 15 percent longer than a mile, a distance of 6,076.12 feet or 1.852 metres.

Personal Flotation Device – a lifejacket or safety vest. Planing Hull – a type of hull that enables a yacht to glide on top of the water. A charter yacht with a planing hull will be able to travel at higher speeds, enabling charter guests to enjoy more destinations. Preference Sheet – where charter guests can list their likes and dislikes prior to chartering a superyacht. Pullman Berth – a twin-size pull-down bed that enables charter yachts to sleep more guests comfortably.

RIB – a rigid inflatable boat, often used as tenders on charter yachts.

Schooner – a type of large sailing yacht with two or more masts. Skylounge – an indoor area on a yacht, typically on the upper deck, which is considered less formal than the main saloon. Starboard – the right side of a yacht when looking forward towards the bow. Stateroom – another term for cabin. Swim Platform – a smaller version of a beach club, swim platforms are located at the back of the yacht and give charter guests easy access to the sea when chartering a superyacht. Stabilisers – a feature that helps prevent a yacht from rolling, particularly in rough seas. Stabilisers help ensure a more comfortable charter experience. Stern – the back of the yacht. Sundeck – the upper part of the deck, often with sun pads for sunbathing.

Tender – a service vessel used to take charter guests to small ports, harbours, or beaches that are too shallow for a yacht. A tender can also be used for watersports, including water skiing, as well as for short day cruises. Larger superyachts may have several tenders. Transom – the vertical section at the rear of the boat. Superyacht charters often fly their flag registration from the transom. Twin Cabin – a cabin with two single beds, popular with children when chartering a superyacht.

Underway – when the yacht is cruising.

V-Berth – a cabin located in the bow of the ship, named because it has a “v’ shape. VIP Cabin – one of the best cabins on a yacht charter, second only to the owner’s suite or master cabin.

Waterline – the intersection between the surface of the water and the yacht’s hull. Waypoint – the coordinates of a destination. Weigh – raise the anchor.

Zero-Speed Stabilisers – A feature that helps prevent a yacht from rolling while at anchor.

After five years in Barcelona, the renowned trade event is returning to Italy along with 60 superyachts with a combined LOA of more than 2,618 metres. Carinthia VII

Stats: Lürssen, 97.2m, 2002 (2023), 12 guests, 33 crew

Highlights: Spanning six decks, the 97-metre Lürssen superyacht, Carinthia VII has long been an icon, but after a recent refit in 2023, she was given a new lease of life. She boasts remarkable interior volume and expansive exterior deck spaces. During the refit, all guest areas were completely revamped, and she now lies in fabulous condition for charter. Accommodation on board is for 12 guests plus five supernumeraries across eight staterooms. This includes the Owner's stateroom and VIP stateroom on the Owner's deck, along with six additional staterooms on the main deck.

Carinthia VII is available to charter with Fraser with a weekly rate from €1,400,000.

Highlights : Found among the world’s most expensive superyachts for charter, Aquila remains one of the most recognisable superyachts in the charter fleet more than 10 years after her delivery. Those that charter her can bask on Aquila's owners' deck with a private terrace overlooking the bow, or head to 'the London Bar' for a cocktail. Boasting a private members' club feel, she features a gym, massage rooms, a cinema and a party deck complete with a DJ booth, light show and smoke machine. Additionally, she has endless water toys, huge outdoor spaces and an impressive beach club.

Aquilla is available for charter with Burgess with a weekly rate from $945,000.

Stats : Golden Yachts, 83m, 2004 (2022), 28 guests, 28 crew

Highlights : Following a mesmerising refit in 2022, the 83-metre superyacht Emir is now gracing the charter market (and MYBA) in 2024. Originally launched as O'mega by Golden Yachts in 2004, Emir is well-known for her sophisticated interiors. The main deck saloon is gracefully designed in flamed mahogany joinery and has a multitude of comfortable seating options ensuring complete relaxation with state-of-the-art audio/visual systems. Meanwhile, the upper saloon offers a piano bar, oversized sofas and a 50-inch plasma television screen with a full stereo surround sound system and satellite TV access. Her expansive beam and towering profile are matched only by her capability to host up to 28 guests in 14 well-appointed cabins.

Emir is available to charter with Frase r with a weekly rate from €700,000

Stats: 77.7m, Golden Yachts, 2023, 12 guests, 22 crew

Highlights: Having only recently hit the water in 2023, Malia has already created waves in the industry. A nominee at this year’s World Superyacht Awards, Malia, was based upon the brief for something sporty with displacement comfort. She sports the first axe bow on a Golden Yacht and is a step away from the styling of her predecessors.  Her interior is equally avant-garde, hosting a contemporary art collection and more than 250 finishes, including polished marble and precious stones.

Malia is available to charter with Northrop and Johnson with a weekly rate from €750,000.

Stats: Amels, 76.6m, 1999 (2020), 12 guests, 22 crew

Highlights: Designed by Terence Disdale, this 77-metre behemoth is a truly classic Amels, but after her all-encompassing refit in 2020, Boadicea was propelled into the future and is now a contemporary charter vessel with elegant interiors that were recreated with charter in mind. The large saloon at main deck level was expanded upwards so that it includes the next level above, and the interiors were restyled using warm tones of walnut and leather.

For those who want to spend their charter with their four-legged friend, Boadicea was designed to be pet friendly and there’s even a garden on board with a trough containing soil and shrubs. This is where afternoon tea is served on board what is known as the ‘tea garden deck’.

Boadicea is available for charter with YPI with a weekly charter rate from €645,000

Stats: Freire, 73.6m, 2011 (2014), 12 guests, 27 crew

Highlights: Built to deliver exceptional experiences, the 74-metre is a hugely capable explorer yacht with superb volume and luxurious features. A proven charter yacht, Naia was designed to create a warm and welcoming environment for 12 guests. The bridge deck lounge has rich leather flooring combined with mild brown wood panels and cabinetry. A large U-shaped sofa, a cinema screen and a dining table are an invitation to relax here too. She also offers an exhilarating fleet of tenders and watertoys to keep the whole family entertained.

Naia is available to charter with Burgess with a weekly rate from €595,000

Stats : Benetti, 63.5, 2006 (2018), 12 guests, 19 crew

Highlights: Instantly recognisable thanks to her long sweeping windows and well-balanced profile, the 63.5-metre Lioness V , was built by Benetti in 2006 and had an extensive refit in 2018. With striking monochromatic interiors, she is particularly opulent but offers relaxing spaces too for 12 guests. A born entertainer, alongside large deck spaces, Lioness V has a cinema room, a fully equipped gym, a media room and a study. She also has a toybox brimming with fun, which can be launched from her large swim platform.

Lioness V is available for charter with a weekly rate from €380,000.

Stats: Benetti , 63m, 2019, 12 guests,

Highlights : The 63-metre superyacht may be based on Benetti’s proven platform, but the commissioning owner’s request for an extra deck has made her one of a kind. With accommodation for 12, Artisan’s interiors are delightfully elegant and feature a number of quirky amenities including an asymmetric upper saloon. Here guests will find a dark gloss grand piano, a silky smoke-coloured rug by Vanghent and glints of steel in the arms of the armchairs and art-deco-esque floor lamps, both by Fendi Casa. The bar, its face sculpted from Bianco Statuario marble and framed with polished stainless steel, is the star of this glamorous space.

Artisan is available for charter with Royal Yacht International.

Stats: Codecasa, 62.5, 2003 (2009), 12 guests, 17 crew

Highlights : Launched in 2003 by Italian yard Codecasa and refitted in 2009, Apogee is a fine example of yachts that stand the test of time. She boasts a rich interior by Franco and Anna Della Role that features extensive use of mahogany and rosewood, creating a fine blend of Old World ambience and modern conveniences. A large elevator connects all decks, while zero-speed stabilizers keep roll to a minimum for extra comfort on board. Guests will find an outstanding selection of tenders, water-sports toys and equipment to ensure maximum guest comfort and fun while aboard.

Apogee is available l to charter with TW W with a weekly rate from €360,000.

Stats: 60.2m, Mondomarine , 2017, 12 guests, 16 crew

Highlights: Having been sold in 2023, the 60-metre superyacht Sarastar has returned to the charter market and is available for those looking for something extra special. She's a fine choice for those in search of a lavish summer, thanks to her interiors by Luca Dini. High-gloss floors and backlit pear-green marble do well to encapsulate the sumptuous feel on board, and there is a backlit white onyx bar, glossy dining table and custom-made light fixture in the main saloon.Up on the sundeck are enormous sun pads shaded by an awning, perfect for those looking to top up their tan or those seeking protection from the midday sun. Right at the bow, a touch-and-go helipad allows guests to arrive in style and can double up as a dancefloor.

Palaces, superyachts and chauffeurs: How the super rich will watch the 2024 Paris Olympics

(CNN) —  This summer, crowds are expected to flock to Paris for the summer Olympic games. Prices for hotel rooms are likely to skyrocket. Tickets for even the lesser events will be eagerly sought. And almost every aspect of visiting the French capital is likely to become  trop cher  for ordinary travelers.

For some elite spenders, however, nothing is too expensive.

Olympic luxury packages are already on sale, offering exclusive access to the sporting spectacle, alongside very upscale travel and accommodation experiences. The lucky few for whom expense is no object can expect to pay north of several hundred thousand dollars for a ringside glimpse of the games.

For instance, a North American family of five traveling to Paris for the Olympics with experiential travel company  The GR8 Experience  can expect to spend between $250,000 and $380,000, depending on the five-star hotel or luxury rental they chose.

These six-figure sums include 11 nights accommodation, premium seats for the opening ceremony and tickets to sports such as swimming, water polo, diving, beach volleyball, track and field and soccer. They will also enjoy VIP transport services around Paris and dedicated hosts for their time in the city.

As the prices above show, the sports tourism industry is big bucks: in 2022 it was worth nearly  $588 billion , and it is expected to grow 17% by 2030. And this year, there’s no bigger sporting event than the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

“Our clients want direct access to the most popular sporting events; gymnastics, tennis and basketball to name three,” The GR8 Experience CEO and Co-Founder Barnabas Carrega tells CNN Travel. The company is seeing a record number of enquiries from its predominantly North American clientele for the two-week event.

With Paris’ emblematic Seine river set to take center stage during the opening ceremony as organizers swap the traditional stadium setting for a floating parade of nations, the first night is, as usual, is highest in demand — so long as it’s  “experienced in the most exclusive way possible,” Carrega says.

“We also have some clients actually going the day prior to see the set-up [of the Opening Ceremony] for a really cool behind-the-scenes experience,’ Carrega says.

GR8 says some of its clients have privately hired  Ducasse sur Seine , the riverboat of Alain Ducasse, the first chef to have three restaurants with three Michelin stars, for one evening. Others will rub shoulders with Olympic executives, heads of state, A-list celebrities and past Olympic champions at the Trocadéro, where the parade will come to an end.

Tailor-made itineraries

In itineraries seen by CNN Travel, experience companies are tapping into the most exclusive packages provided by official hospitality provider  On Location  for tickets to Olympic events. These  include access to hospitality suites which will be fully catered, with alcohol available. The general public, meanwhile, won’t be able to buy alcohol as per France’s strict booze ban inside sporting venues.

Tour operator  Kensington Tours  says it has two clients coming into Paris for the first seven nights of the Games. They’ll kick off their stay watching the opening ceremony from the vantage point of Alma Bridge, with the Eiffel Tour rising in front of them.  The base price for this official Bridge 360 Package is  $10,300, and includes flowing Champagne, live music and meet-and-greets with Olympians in a brasserie-style setting.

Kensington says the best tickets – “gold 1st category A” – have already been secured for their clients at a cost of between $500 to $1,000 a ticket for tennis and basketball events. On the one day they are not attending any events, they’ll be whisked away on a private whiskey tasting led by a distillery owner.

AZA Luxury Travel’s   Angela Adto  Tepper says her company has designed a whole Paris program for a family of financiers from Oahu, Hawaii, who are coming specifically to watch basketball and wrestling.

“Paris presents a wealth of opportunities for luxury travelers to indulge in during the Olympics,” Adto Tepper says. “I have tailored an itinerary that includes Michelin-starred restaurants, guided curated shopping excursions in Parisian fashion districts and private tours to iconic sights like the Louvre.”

Similarly,  Craft Travel  has organized a busy, 15-day itinerary for a family of four, including two teenagers, from New York. Among the exclusive experiences is a private concert at the Palais Garnier, Paris’ gilded opera house.

“The performers will include a National Opera Ballet dancer, a classic quartet and an opera singer. A gourmet dinner will accompany the performance. Afterwards, they’ll enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the opera house, including a visit to the costume workshop where all the magic happens,” Craft Travel’s director, Andrea Galvez, says.

Home in Paris for the family will be the  La Réserve Apartments , just across from the Trocadéro. “They wished for a prime location and a luxurious environment that feels homey yet offers the services of a five-star hotel, and this is exactly what they’ll get,” says Galvez. The apartment will include a full-time attendant and a private chauffeur so they can avoid the city’s already-stretched public transport network.

Palaces and superyachts

To ensure their clients have access to Paris’ most prestigious hotels, many luxury travel advisers have made blanket bookings at properties across the city.

“We’ve contracted room blocks at eight different hotels for the full period of the games. We’ve then made shorter stays available inside those blocks to our guests,” says Dave Guenther, president of sports travel experts  Roadtrips , an Internova Travel Group company. Among those are Rosewood Hôtel de Crillon, Le Bristol Paris and the Shangri-La Paris.

Those that have snared a room at Paris’ top hotels are paying top dollar for the privilege. At  Le Royal Monceau Raffles Paris , one of France’s ultra-prestigious “palace” hotels (a status awarded to exceptional luxury properties),  its 190 square meter (2,045 sq foot) Royal Monceau Suite  has been booked for the duration of the Olympic Games at a rate of $27,000 per night.

And, just like the athletes they have come to cheer on, wealthy travelers are bringing their entire entourage with them to Paris. “Some of the top suites have been personalized according to guest’s décor preferences and will feature a hair and make-up area,” Le Royal Monceau’s General Manager Nicolas De Gols says.

“A regular guest is traveling with their personal chef and working with the hotel’s culinary team to adapt the kitchen inside the suite to fit their needs, too.” In front of the hotel, an area will also be designated for the guest’s own fleets. “Some are traveling with almost 20 vehicles,” De Gols adds.

With other French cities such as Marseille and Nice — and even the far-flung French territory Tahiti — hosting Olympic events as well, it’s hardly a surprise that superyacht charters are also trending for the games.

Fraser  Yachts says Askari, a 33-meter (107-foot) classic yacht based in French Polynesia, has received multiple inquiries for surfing events in Teahupo’o, Tahiti.

In the Mediterranean, the Monaco-based yacht brokerage has a confirmed charter on a 27-meter (89-foot) motor yacht in Marseille to follow the Olympic windsurfing competition in early August and is also looking to deploy yachts from its US fleet to the Mediterranean to accommodate increased charter demand in the south of France this summer.

The wine Olympics

Considering the choice of host nation, it seems many luxury travelers are also keen to secure allocations of gold medal-worthy wines to enjoy while in Paris. Clément Bru and Charles de Brosses, the duo behind  Cookoon , a luxury gastronomic service that connects clients with Michelin-starred chefs in exclusive, private locations, say they are already seeing a high demand for fine and rare wines from incoming Olympic visitors.

“We’ve been contacted by an American professional sportsperson who has told us that they really like older Burgundys,” Bru says. Thanks to their service’s network, the pair have already been able to source a nearly 40-year-old bottle of Henri Jayer Vosne-Romanée “Cros Parantoux” —  a wine that averages around $16,000 a bottle  — as well as wines from another revered Burgundy estate, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.

The wines will be served in an ultra-exclusive private property secured by the duo. “We are organizing a special evening with a leading chef and sommelier in an amazing venue with a view overlooking the Champ de Mars,” Bru says.

Yet, despite their intricate network of connections, it seems like there are some requests even the most well-connected of UHNW concierges can’t guarantee.

“A client of ours is interested in doing a whole behind-the-scenes experience with [US gymnast] Simone Biles,” GR8’s Carnega explains. “It’s very complicated because she’s very focused on trying to get her to win.

“But we’re working on it.”

The external profile of this vessel has been designed by Omega Architects, in close collaboration with the CRN Engineering Department which developed the naval project, while their interiors have been created by Droulers Architecture, which has worked in close collaboration with the shipyard’s Interiors and Design Office.

The new megayacht, the first to be built by CRN on the new naval platform of 12.50 metres in width, is characterized by sleek, slender and sporty lines, which make the profile particularly streamlined. With 5 decks, M/Y CRN 132 73 m can host up to 12 guests in its six cabins, including the Owner Suite and Vip cabins, together with a crew of 22 members.

The construction of this new jewel of the sea, which includes the best design solutions realized by CRN, has required around 430,000 hours of work from the shipyard workers and subcontractors and the daily contribution of over 150 direct and indirect workers.

YALLA hit the water in 2014 at the CRN shipyard in Ancona. She was built under the shipyard build number CRN 132 is a luxurious 73-metre displacement vessel. Spreading over four spacious and magnificent decks, the this 73-metre vessel offers accommodation for up to 12 guests in six deluxe staterooms overnight, including the sumptuous Owner Suite and Vip staterooms. YALLA Specifications

YALLA was designed with numerous exceptional design solutions to promote on board entertainment, social life and relaxation. One of the main features must be the onboard wellness situated on the lower deck, that includes a beach club, large swimming pool as well as a well-equipped fitness area.

Made of steel and aluminium, YALLA is fitter with twin Caterpillar 3512B diesel engines. She is ABS classed and MCA compliant.

Off the Hook Yachts Acquires 300-Slip Marina in Georgetown Maryland  

The Acquisition 

Off the Hook Yachts is proud to announce the acquisition of Georgetown Yacht Basin (GYB) now rebranding under Georgetown Yacht Haven – a 300-boat slip full-service marina located on the Sassafras River in Georgetown, MD.  Off the Hook plans to restore the yacht basin to its former glory and reconnect with the local community in order to establish it as a household name in the area. 

As our founder is originally from Maryland, this will complement our current presence in the area, along with our MD sales team, which currently operates out of Bay Bridge Marina. The acquisition of the marina will allow us to expand on sales, service, and custom-built Nor-Tech Performance Boat sales in the region. Georgetown Yacht Haven has 300 slips, two paint sheds that can hold up to a 110-foot yacht, a 110-ton travel lift, a fuel dock, a swimming pool, bathhouses, and a complete ship store, along with many other amenities. GYH controls the largest travel lift in Northern Chesapeake Bay.

Performance & Range

Cocoa Bean is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, she comfortably cruises at 14 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 15 knots with a range of up to 6,000 nautical miles from her 242,266 litre fuel tanks at 13 knots. An advanced stabilisation system on board reduces the side-to-side roll of the yacht and promises guests exceptional comfort levels at anchor or when underway.

Cocoa Bean knows a thing or two about fun on the water, with a selection of water toys and accessories for you and your guests to enjoy whilst on charter. Take to the sea on the Jet Skis offering you power and control on the water. Also there are waterskis that are hugely entertaining whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro. Additionally, there are two kayaks - a tranquil and relaxing way to pass the time. If that isn't enough Cocoa Bean also features scuba diving equipment, inflatable water toys, paddleboards and snorkelling equipment. Cocoa Bean features two tenders, but leading the pack is a 7.62m/25' Chapman RIB to transport you in style.

73m superyacht Yalla launched by CRN

Italian yacht builder CRN has launched its 73m superyacht Yalla .

CRN welcomed more than 1,000 guests to the launching ceremony of CRN 132 Yalla , held late this morning at its shipyard in Ancona, Italy. The launch ceremony included speeches from Alberto Galassi, new CEO of the Ferretti Group , Lamberto Tacoli, Chairman and CEO of CRN, Xinyu Xu, Vice-chairman of Weichai Group, and the Mayor of Ancona Valeria Mancinelli.

Part of the Ferretti Group,  CRN  specialises in custom yachts up to 90 metres in steel and aluminium. Yalla is the first yacht built by CRN on its new 12.5m beam platform. More than 430,000 hours from CRN and its subcontractors were spent on Yalla 's build, with contributions from 150 employees.

Exterior styling comes from Omega Architects in The Netherlands, in close collaboration with the CRN Engineering Department. The five-deck motor yacht features sleek, sporty lines and a streamlined profile. Superyacht Yalla 's interiors are by Droulers Architecture, working with CRN's Interiors and Design Office. She hosts up to 12 guests in its six cabins, including an owner's suite and VIP cabins, along with 22 crew members.

'Following the launch of CRN 133 61m superyacht a few months ago, we are proud to celebrate the launch of the new Yalla of 73m, which represents a challenge and an objective for the whole CRN shipyard,' says Lamberto Tacoli, Chairman and CEO of CRN. ' Yalla will mark another important result for the development of CRN in the world. A sincere thanks for the trust of the owner and for the work of all employees and subcontractors who have worked on the project, to the architects Franck Laupman of Omega Architects and to Droulers Architecture. I also thank our shareholder Weichai Group and the new CEO of the Group Alberto Galassi for their participation in this important event for CRN and for the whole Ferretti Group.'

The Ferretti Group currently has five superyachts underway at the Ancona shipyard, including the 74m CRN 131, 55m CRN 134, a Ferretti Custom Line CL 124, the 61m CRN 133 and the Riva 122 Mythos , which are at the delivery stage.

Strange Glow Over Moscow Skies Triggers Panic as Explosions Reported

B right flashes lit up the night sky in southern Moscow in the early hours of Thursday morning, new footage appears to show, following reports of an explosion at an electrical substation on the outskirts of the city.

Video snippets circulating on Russian-language Telegram channels show a series of flashes on the horizon of a cloudy night sky, momentarily turning the sky a number of different colors. In a clip shared by Russian outlet MSK1.ru, smoke can be seen rising from a building during the flashes lighting up the scene.

Newsweek was unable to independently verify the details of the video clips, including when and where it was filmed. The Russian Ministry of Emergency situations has been contacted via email.

Several Russian Telegram accounts said early on Thursday that residents of southern Moscow reported an explosion and a fire breaking out at an electrical substation in the Leninsky district, southeast of central Moscow.

Local authorities in the Leninsky district told Russian outlet RBC that the explosion had happened in the village of Molokovo. "All vital facilities are operating as normal," Leninsky district officials told the outlet.

The incident at the substation in Molokovo took place just before 2 a.m. local time, MSK1.ru reported.

Messages published by the ASTRA Telegram account, run by independent Russian journalists, appear to show residents close to the substation panicking as they question the bright flashes in the sky. One local resident describes seeing the bright light before losing access to electricity, with another calling the incident a "nightmare."

More than 10 villages and towns in the southeast of Moscow lost access to electricity, the ASTRA Telegram account also reported. The town of Lytkarino to the southeast of Moscow, lost electricity, wrote the eastern European-based independent outlet, Meduza.

Outages were reported in the southern Domodedovo area of the city, according to another Russian outlet, as well as power failures in western Moscow. Electricity was then restored to the areas, the Strana.ua outlet reported.

The cause of the reported explosion is not known. A Telegram account aggregating news for the Lytkarino area described the incident as "an ordinary accident at a substation."

The MSK1.ru outlet quoted a local resident who speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but no other Russian source reported this as a possible cause.

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Moscow with long-range aerial drones in recent months, including a dramatic wave of strikes in late May.

On Sunday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the region's air defense systems had intercepted an aerial drone over the city of Elektrostal, to the east of Moscow. No damage or casualties were reported, he said.

The previous day, Russian air defenses detected and shot down another drone flying over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow, Sobyanin said.

There is currently no evidence that an aerial drone was responsible for the reported overnight explosion at the electrical substation in southern Moscow.

Amadeus Description

Built by the famous Dynamique Yachts shipyard, and having undergone a total refit in 2018, S/Y Amadeus was designed to please the most demanding of yachtsmen. Built for smooth sailing, this elegant cutter rigged sloop has a sleek hull design, comfortably reaching top speeds of 12 knots and ensuring excellent sailing performance. S/Y Amadeus has just undergone this past winter (2018) a major refit such as total repaint top to bottom, new rigging (BSI Denmark), Novourania with new Evinrude 75hp outboard, Splash pool, new Bimini/Sprayhood/Awnings, new exterior fabrics and many other enhancements. In 2016 new “North Sails” were placed onboard. The yacht is maintained in excellent condition with a five-star crew year round. Her generous uncluttered teak deck offers plenty of space for sunbathing. The spacious and unique outdoor saloon has two tables seating upto 12 guests and is a perfect setting for outdoor dining and entertainment. Thanks to a special canopy and roll-up windows, the deck saloon has the added attraction that it can be fully enclosed, making it ideal for all weather conditions. Her forward area includes a splash pool and sun bathing area which can also be shaded with a removable awning. From the cockpit, a stairway leads to the light-filled spacious saloon offering ample seating, ideal for relaxing or enjoying a drink from the bar, and offers a formal dining area. This area also includes a LCD TV, entertainment center, ipod dock station, playstation, and is ideal for indoor activities. She can accommodate 10-12 guests in one full width master stateroom, two double bedded cabins each having one extra single bed and two twin bedded cabins which can be easily converted to double beds (upon request), thus, making her the only 5 double bedded sailboat in the Greek market. She also has a nice selection of toys which include water ski (adult and children), tubes, inflatable canoes, wakeboard, fishing rod and snorkeling gear.

CAPTAIN - Harry Fotopoulos Captain Harry is a graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy and holds a Captain Class A’ Diploma. He also holds a Canadian Commercial Pilot license class B, sailing and speedboat license. He has over 15 years of experience onboard many types of Charter Yachts. He holds Certificates in GMDSS, Fire Fighting & First Aid, Personal Safety, Life Saving, and Ship Security. He has a great knowledge of the Greek islands and will navigate guests to remarkable destinations. During his one season on board he showed great leadership skills and received positive feedback from all guests. He is calm yet very outgoing and speaks very good English. DECKHAND - Konstantinos Santas CHIEF STEWARDESS - Mirella Davint Mirella has 8+ years of experience as a stewardess onboard charter and private yachts. She has a very pleasant personality and she aims to accommodate her guests to the fullest. Comments received from previous guests are memorable. This will be Mirella’s eighth season onboard. Mirella speaks English and she is 38 years old. ENGINEER - Stelios Mandos Stelios holds an Engineer Class B’ Diploma from the Greek Merchant Marine Academy as well as a Sailor’s License. He has over 15 years of experience onboard Ocean-Going Vessels and Charter Yachts. His hobbies include spearfishing and sailing. He speaks good English. Stelios is 45 years old, married with two children. CHEF - Thanasis Kiritsis Thanasis is 39 years old and has worked as a chef for more than 20 years in numerous hotels restaurants, yachts and resorts including owning his own pastry shop / bakery for 5 years. Thanasis looks forward to welcoming his guests on board and introducing them to his culinary world. He speaks good English and Greek. He is a young chef full of energy, skills and passion towards his job. We are confident that he will serve his guests unforgettable flavors. ASSISTANT STEWARDESS - Anastasia Yurash Anastasia is 31 years old and has been in the yachting industry since 2021. Her working experience includes 7 years as a housekeeper and assistant stewardess. Built for smooth sailing, this elegant cutter rigged sloop has a sleek hull design that enables her to comfortably reach top speeds of 12 knots and ensures excellent sailing performance.

This sailing yacht's generous uncluttered teak deck with a foredeck pool, offers plenty of space for sunbathing. The spacious and unique outdoor saloon has two tables, a bar and barbeque, a perfect setting for outdoor dining and entertainment. Thanks to a special canopy and roll-up windows, the deck saloon has the added attraction that it can be fully enclosed, making it ideal for all weather conditions. From the cockpit, a stairway leads to the light-filled spacious saloon offering ample seating, ideal for relaxing or enjoying a drink from the bar, and a formal dining area with seating for up to 12 guests.

Accomodation is offered for up to 12 guests in 5 spacious cabins: the bow master cabin on AMADEUS features a double bed, vanity unit and generous storage facilities, as well as audio/visual entertainment. The en-suite bath includes a shower and separate large bath. Two double cabins with additional single bunks situated forward. Two twin cabins situated aft. A General Description of Sailing Yacht AMADEUS

AMADEUS was previously registered as project/yacht name Amadeus 1er. This 33 metre (109 ft) luxury yacht was built by Dynamique Yachts in 1991. Sailing Yacht AMADEUS is a well proportioned superyacht. The yacht is a modern sloop with a cutter rig. The naval architecture office whom authored the design work on this ship was Philippe Briand. Luxury yacht AMADEUS is a quality yacht that is able to accommodate as many as 12 guests on board and has a total of 5 crew members.

Sailing yacht AMADEUS was built by the famous Dynamique Yachts shipyard .The yacht features superb sailing characteristics which are complimented by her spacious interior and abundant deck space. Sailing sloop AMADEUS can accommodate 10 passengers in five cabins. With one large master stateroom and four additional cabins which are all air conditioned and have en suite bathrooms. She also has two separate salons and a full dining room. The aft deck is fully covered with seating. The fore deck has an unique pool on deck and swimming in the sea is made accessible by a large swim aft platform.

The Construction & Naval Architecture relating to Luxury Yacht AMADEUS

Philippe Briand was the naval architect firm involved in the formal nautical design work for AMADEUS. Also the company Philippe Briand skillfully collaborated on this undertaking. In 1991 she was actually launched to triumph in Marans and following sea trials and final completion was afterwards passed on to the yacht owner. Dynamique Yachts completed their new build sailing yacht in France. A reasonable proportion is brought about with a maximum beam (width) of 7.5 metres / 24.6 feet. With a 3.6m (11.8ft) draught (maximum depth) she is reasonably deep. The material composite was used in the building of the hull of the sailing yacht. Her superstructure above deck is built with the use of composite. Over the deck of AMADEUS she is 32.7 (107.3 ft) in length. In 2004 extra refitting and modernisation was also finished.

Engines & Speed For S/Y AMADEUS:

She is driven by twin screw propellers. The main engine of the ship gives 375 horse power (or 276 kilowatts). She is equiped with 2 engines. The combined thrust for the boat is therefore 750 HP / 552 KW.

Bestowing bedding for a maximum of 12 yacht guests sleeping aboard, the AMADEUS accommodates them in style. Normally the vessel requires approximately 5 professional crewmembers to run.

Her master cabin features a walk around king bed, desk/vanity, and en-suite bathroom. Additionally, there are two guest cabins each with a queen bed convertible to two twins, and two guest cabins each with a queen bed and twin bed. Each guest cabin has an en-suite.

Her main salon has a spacious, contoured conversational area, along with a large, flatscreen T.V. The aft deck features al fresco dining with Bimini top. Up on deck there are sun pads and a splash pool for you and your guests to enjoy.

Watersports offered include a 15 foot tender with 75hp engine, water skis for adults and children, tube, wakeboard, kayak, fishing gear, snorkeling gear, and rendezvous diving.

Sailing yacht AMADEUS is a stunning 110 ft yacht available for charter in Greece. With a clean, spacious teak deck and a unique outdoor saloon that can seat up to 12 guests across two tables, it’s the perfect place for outdoor dining and entertainment. The deck saloon can also be enclosed with a special canopy and roll-up windows, making it suitable for use in all weather conditions. At the front of the boat, there’s a splash pool and sunbathing area with a removable awning for shade.

Inside the boat, a staircase from the cockpit leads to a well-lit and roomy saloon area with plenty of seating, including a formal dining area, bar, LCD TV, entertainment center, iPod dock station, and Playstation. Sailing Yacht AMADEUS can accommodate 10-12 guests in five large cabins, including a full-width master stateroom and two double cabins, each with an extra single bed. The two twin cabins can also be converted to doubles upon request, making her the only sailboat on the Greek market with five double beds.

To add to the fun, sailing yacht AMADEUS also comes with a range of water toys, including adult and children’s water skis, tubes, inflatable canoes, wakeboard, fishing rod, and snorkeling gear. She was built by Dynamique Yachts in 1996 and underwent a refit in 2014/2018.

Charter the AMADEUS

AMADEUS is a 110-foot sailing yacht that can accommodate ten to twelve passengers in five staterooms as follows: a spacious Owner’s stateroom with a double bed, a vanity and an entertainment unit including TV, DVD and music system; two cabins with a double bed and an additional single bed; two cabins with two twin beds each. All staterooms have en suite bathrooms, a TV, DVD and CD player. There are two separate salons onboard as well as a full dining room. The aft deck is fully covered and has seating for all guests to dine in the open air. Forward of the cockpit is a lovely cushioned area for sunning and an unusual pool is found in the fore of the yacht. Swimming in the sea is made accessible by the large swim aft platform.

This year, crowds are expected to flock to Paris for the summer Olympic games. Prices for hotel rooms are likely to skyrocket. Tickets for even the lesser events will be eagerly sought. And almost every aspect of visiting the French capital is likely to become trop cher for ordinary travellers.

For some elite spenders, however, nothing is too expensive.

Olympic luxury packages are already on sale, offering exclusive access to the sporting spectacle, alongside very upscale travel and accommodation experiences. The lucky few for whom expense is no object can expect to pay north of several hundred thousand dollars for a ringside glimpse of the games.

For instance, a North American family of five travelling to Paris for the Olympics with experiential travel company The GR8 Experience can expect to spend between $250,000 and $380,000, ($389k - $591k AUD) depending on the five-star hotel or luxury rental they choose.

These six-figure sums include 11 nights accommodation, premium seats for the opening ceremony and tickets to sports such as swimming, water polo, diving, beach volleyball, track and field and soccer. They will also enjoy VIP transport services around Paris and dedicated hosts for their time in the city

"Our clients want direct access to the most popular sporting events; gymnastics, tennis and basketball to name three," The GR8 Experience CEO and Co-Founder Barnabas Carrega tells CNN Travel . The company is seeing a record number of enquiries from its predominantly North American clientele for the two-week event.

With Paris' emblematic Seine river set to take centre stage during the opening ceremony as organisers swap the traditional stadium setting for a floating parade of nations, the first night is, as usual, is highest in demand — so long as it's "experienced in the most exclusive way possible," Carrega says.

"We also have some clients actually going the day prior to see the set-up [of the Opening Ceremony] for a really cool behind-the-scenes experience,' Carrega says.

GR8 says some of its clients have privately hired Ducasse sur Seine , the riverboat of Alain Ducasse, the first chef to have three restaurants with three Michelin stars, for one evening. Others will rub shoulders with Olympic executives, heads of state, A-list celebrities and past Olympic champions at the Trocadéro, where the parade will come to an end.

Tailor-made itineraries

In itineraries seen by CNN Travel , experience companies are tapping into the most exclusive packages provided by official hospitality provider On Location for tickets to Olympic events. These include access to hospitality suites which will be fully catered, with alcohol available. The general public, meanwhile, won't be able to buy alcohol as per France's strict booze ban inside sporting venues.

Tour operator Kensington Tours says it has two clients coming into Paris for the first seven nights of the Games. They'll kick off their stay watching the opening ceremony from the vantage point of Alma Bridge, with the Eiffel Tower rising in front of them. The base price for this official Bridge 360 Package is $10,300 ($16k AUD) and includes flowing Champagne, live music and meet-and-greets with Olympians in a brasserie-style setting.

Kensington says the best tickets – "gold 1st category A" – have already been secured for their clients for tennis and basketball events. On the one day they are not attending any events, they'll be whisked away on a private whiskey tasting led by a distillery owner.

AZA Luxury Travel's Angela Adto Tepper says her company has designed a whole Paris program for a family of financiers from Oahu, Hawaii, who are coming specifically to watch basketball and wrestling.

"Paris presents a wealth of opportunities for luxury travellers to indulge in during the Olympics," Adto Tepper says. "I have tailored an itinerary that includes Michelin-starred restaurants, guided curated shopping excursions in Parisian fashion districts and private tours to iconic sights like the Louvre."

Similarly, Craft Travel has organized a busy, 15-day itinerary for a family of four, including two teenagers, from New York. Among the exclusive experiences is a private concert at the Palais Garnier, Paris' gilded opera house.

"The performers will include a National Opera Ballet dancer, a classic quartet and an opera singer. A gourmet dinner will accompany the performance. Afterwards, they'll enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the opera house, including a visit to the costume workshop where all the magic happens," Craft Travel's director, Andrea Galvez, says.

Home in Paris for the family will be the La Réserve Apartments , just across from the Trocadéro. "They wished for a prime location and a luxurious environment that feels homey yet offers the services of a five-star hotel, and this is exactly what they'll get," says Galvez. The apartment will include a full-time attendant and a private chauffeur so they can avoid the city's already-stretched public transport network.

Palaces and superyachts

To ensure their clients have access to Paris' most prestigious hotels, many luxury travel advisers have made blanket bookings at properties across the city.

"We've contracted room blocks at eight different hotels for the full period of the games. We've then made shorter stays available inside those blocks to our guests," says Dave Guenther, president of sports travel experts Roadtrips , an Internova Travel Group company. Among those are Rosewood Hôtel de Crillon, Le Bristol Paris and the Shangri-La Paris.

Those that have snared a room at Paris' top hotels are paying top dollar for the privilege. At Le Royal Monceau Raffles Paris , one of France's ultra-prestigious "palace" hotels (a status awarded to exceptional luxury properties), its 190 square metre (2,045 sq foot) Royal Monceau Suite has been booked for the duration of the Olympic Games at a rate of $27,000 ($42k AUD) per night.

And, just like the athletes they have come to cheer on, wealthy travellers are bringing their entire entourage with them to Paris. "Some of the top suites have been personalised according to guest's décor preferences and will feature a hair and make-up area," Le Royal Monceau's General Manager Nicolas De Gols says.

"A regular guest is travelling with their personal chef and working with the hotel's culinary team to adapt the kitchen inside the suite to fit their needs, too." In front of the hotel, an area will also be designated for the guest's own fleets. "Some are travelling with almost 20 vehicles," De Gols adds.

With other French cities such as Marseille and Nice — and even the far-flung French territory Tahiti — hosting Olympic events as well, it's hardly a surprise that superyacht charters are also trending for the games.

Fraser Yachts says Askari, a 33-meter classic yacht based in French Polynesia, has received multiple inquiries for surfing events in Teahupo'o, Tahiti.

In the Mediterranean, the Monaco-based yacht brokerage has a confirmed charter on a 27-meter motor yacht in Marseille to follow the Olympic windsurfing competition in early August and is also looking to deploy yachts from its US fleet to the Mediterranean to accommodate increased charter demand in the south of France this summer.

The wine Olympics

Considering the choice of host nation, it seems many luxury travelers are also keen to secure allocations of gold medal-worthy wines to enjoy while in Paris. Clément Bru and Charles de Brosses, the duo behind Cookoon , a luxury gastronomic service that connects clients with Michelin-starred chefs in exclusive, private locations, say they are already seeing a high demand for fine and rare wines from incoming Olympic visitors.

"We've been contacted by an American professional sportsperson who has told us that they really like older Burgundys," Bru says. Thanks to their service's network, the pair have already been able to source a nearly 40-year-old bottle of Henri Jayer Vosne-Romanée "Cros Parantoux" — a wine that averages around $16,000 a bottle — as well as wines from another revered Burgundy estate, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.

The wines will be served in an ultra-exclusive private property secured by the duo. "We are organizing a special evening with a leading chef and sommelier in an amazing venue with a view overlooking the Champ de Mars," Bru says.

Yet, despite their intricate network of connections, it seems like there are some requests even the most well-connected of UHNW concierges can't guarantee.

"A client of ours is interested in doing a whole behind-the-scenes experience with [US gymnast] Simone Biles," GR8's Carnega explains. "It's very complicated because she's very focused on trying to get her to win.

"But we're working on it."

Below Deck season 11’s Chef Anthony Iracane needs to make major changes to his performance before he gets fired from the St. David by new Captain Kerry Titheradge. While Anthony has been an asset to the St. David, his performance in the last several episodes of Below Deck season 11 has been lackluster. Due to a variety of reasons, including his inability to stay organized under pressure, Chef Anthony has been making mistakes throughout the season and guests have been noticing that their meals aren’t up to par. Captain Kerry has pointed out his mistakes, but he’s getting fed up.

According to u/VeVantTheFunk on Reddit, there are some possible ways to remedy Anthony’s issues in the kitchen. “Why has no one on the boat suggested he serve meals family style? I'm sure he couldn't get away with it for every meal, but, when dealing with incredibly picky guests it seems like it would be a LOT easier and more efficient,” the user explained. Some commenters made suggestions for Anthony’s service, while others explained that the pressures of Below Deck are unlike any yachting experience out there. u/itsthebeach explained, “On a normal yacht meals are planned and sheets are submitted usually weeks in advance. Below Deck is not normal yachting and as someone with dyslexia that’s an additional added challenge.” While Anthony is struggling with finding the balance on the superyacht, he’s also dealing with pressures that aren’t typically present in the galley of a luxury vessel. Adding that stress onto his pre-existing dyslexia is making things harder , but should he be fired?

While Anthony’s struggles are understandable due to the circumstances and the pressures surrounding the St. David, his performance is still falling short by the standards of Captain Kerry . It may not be a kind move, but Anthony’s time on the superyacht has been filled with struggles that haven’t been fixed throughout the charter season, so it feels as though Captain Kerry could be justified in firing the chef if he continues to fail. Though it feels like a tougher decision because of Chef Anthony’s abilities and the unavoidable impacts of his disability, his performance merits the termination of his employment.

As Below Deck season 11 continues, Chef Anthony’s performance has been a major issue for the rest of the crew as they’ve worked through the charter season. Serving their guests with meals that are incorrect or underwhelming has caused the crew to have to deal with backlash, which ultimately makes its way to the Captain. Though Chef Anthony has been trying his hardest to make things work, it’s likely that he doesn’t have enough support to make his way entirely through the charter season, and could be fired on an upcoming episode of Below Deck , with or without accommodations.
