Directions : From M42 J2, head north on the A441 towards Birmingham. Turn left onto the B4120 at the first roundabout and then right at the next roundabout, staying on the B4120. Go under the railway, past the Barnt Green Inn and take the next right into Cofton Church Lane. (A brown amenity sign shows the way here) Follow this road under the low railway bridge (11 foot clearance) and then bear right and after passing a red club sign drive slowly along a road with speed humps which is also a bridle way. The club entrance is along here on the left, signed, turn in through gates and proceed to the club car parks. From M5 it is probably easiest to go onto M42 and leave at J2 following directions above. BGSC is one of the premier sailing clubs in the West Midlands and membership is open to all categories.  We are set in North Worcestershire yet only a short distance from the Birmingham boundary.

Barnt Green Fishing Club Details and Membership Inquiries

The purpose and mission of the club is to provide all-year-round quality recreational fishing in a quiet, safe and tranquil environment. There is no public access to the estate and no day tickets are issued but members may invite guests to fish. The club membership is limited by its constitution when formed to 56 voting members, with the addition of Associate Members and Associate Coarse members.

Our fishery shares its history with that of the UK angling Industry. As the compensation reservoir for the River Arrow, Lower Bittell Reservoir and its feeder pools ensured that the Needle Mills of Redditch and Studley always had sufficient water. These very Mills were where the first mass produced Fishing Hooks were made by Partridge of Redditch.

Our trout fishing lakes are Lower Bittell Reservoir (23 acres) and Mill Shrub Pool (5 acres) with an additional small water, Upper Arrow (1 acre), which is particularly good in the winter as it is spring-fed. All waters are stocked with rainbow and other varieties of trout of between 2 and 10 lbs throughout the year.

The Club also has two other waters, Upper Bittell Reservoir at 76 acres and Lower Arrow at 1 acre which are both mixed coarse fisheries including a head of specimen Carp, Bream, and Pike as well as an abundance of silverfish. Both trout and coarse memberships are available.

Memberships Plans

Multiple Rod  - £220 per year

Membership runs from January 1st until December 31st each year. This membership is primarily aimed at Specimen anglers targeting the Pike and Carp and Bream in Upper Bittell. Membership numbers are limited to keep the fishing to a high standard with low pressure. Fishing is also allowed on Lower Arrow Pool with this membership. We also have a limited number of night permits available for anglers wishing to fish for carp and Bream on Upper Bittell.

This 1995 Charles Green hand-built, one-of-a-kind motor cruiser is perfect for coastal adventures, or river cruises. The vessel boasts accommodation for up to four people in two cabins with twin single berths in the forward cabin and an owner’s double berth in the stern. 

Regrettably, the owner, despite their fondness for the boat, must part with her as he is retiring from boating due to ill health.

This Charles Green motor cruiser offers spacious accommodation for up to four people across two cabins. The forward cabin features a twin V berth, with under-berth storage. Access to the anchor locker is in the forepeak.  

The heads are located on the port side, behind the forward cabin. The heads consist of a Stainless-steel sink mounted in a vanity unit, pressurised hot and cold water with shower attachment, built-in shower tray, a marine toilet, and a mirror. Hot water is supplied by a Taylor gas boiler. 

Moving into the saloon, booth dinette seating and table on the port side with Under-seat stowage and shelving spread behind the seating area. The galley runs along the starboard side. Featuring a single stainless-steel sink with pressurized hot and cold water, a gimbled two-burner gas hob with oven and grill, 12-volt fridge, a microwave, 240V supply sockets, and ample storage space. Also included in the saloon is a radio/CD player and TV. 

Ascending the saloon steps, the Wheelhouse saloon offers great visibility through three windscreens and side windows. The helm position is located on the starboard side, with a single helm seat, wheel steering, engine controls, and the vessel control panel.  The port side offers a large booth seating area with a table. This area also allows access to the engine compartment.

The Master cabin is located aft of the vessel, companionway steps lead down to a double berth across the stern with underberth storage, hanging wardrobe, and storage cupboards. This cabin also has access to a private Heads compartment with a white sink mounted in a vanity unit with hot and cold pressurized water, shower attachment, marine toilet, mirror, and in-built shower tray.

This Motor Cruiser is equipped with an Eberspaecher D4 Diesel heating unit with outlets in the saloon, wheelhouse, fore and aft cabins. 

Ascending the wheelhouse, to the aft cockpit which includes an external helm position to port with engine controls, steering wheel, single helm seat to Port, and single navigator seat to Starboard and grants access to the forward and side decks.

Built by the current owner, and constructed over 13 years, and finally launched in 1995. This hand-built motor cruiser is built with 1/2-inch marine ply with an epoxy coating sheathed up to 9 inches above the water line. It has a double diagonal ply along the hull and waterline. This motor cruiser has a white hull, superstructure, and cedar decks. 

The Vessel was last ashore in January 2024, when she was re-antifouled, and anodes replaced. The owner is reluctantly selling the boat as they are retiring from boating due to ill health.

The 1995 Motor Cruiser is powered by a single BMC, 50HP diesel engine, with Morse controls, which drives a shaft-driven 3-bladed fixed propeller. The engine has completed 998 hours as of 24th May 2024 

This engine is fresh water-cooled and was last serviced by the owner in 2022 and hasn’t been used since. The engine is supplied by two 70-liter plastic fuel tanks with a total fuel capacity of 140 Lts. 

This Motor Cruiser has a cruising speed of 6 knots and can reach a top speed of 8 knots. Electrical Systems: This vessel is fitted with 4 x 12-volt batteries (1 x engine 105Ah + 3 x Domestic batteries 110Ah) charging from the alternator. This vessel also benefits from a 240v shore power system with a ring main, and battery charger, and a fixed 2KW petrol generator.
