Launch of 72-meter yacht CRN 139 in Ancona

The Italian builder's latest 72m (236ft) full-custom CRN 139 has been christened motor yacht NJOY in a private ceremony held on Monday, before hitting the water for the first time from their Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona, Italy .

Although details of the bespoke steel and aluminum motor yacht remain tightly under wraps, in their latest press release it was confirmed the yacht has been designed and built by CRN , who were also responsible for her naval architecture, while Nuvolari Lenard designed her interiors, in collaboration with the Italian yard. 

The 1,880 GT yacht boasts a wide 12.4-meter beam, so we can expect plenty of generous interior and alfresco living areas spanning across her 6 decks. 

the yacht combines functional and design solutions in a sophisticated overall harmony

Designed to reflect and enhance her owners’ vision, personality and style, the yacht is endowed with large full-length glazing to maximize the light, and has been described as having “smooth external lines that impart an original, elegant aesthetic”, while overall the yacht “combines functional and design solutions in a sophisticated overall harmony”.

She will provide accommodation for 12 guests, with additional space for up to 19 crew to ensure a seamless and professional experience at all times.

CRN have confirmed a further three full-custom yachts are currently under construction, comprising the 67-meter CRN M/Y 143, the 85-meter CRN M/Y 144 and the 70-meter CRN M/Y 145.

Crn m/y 143-project maranello: the new 67-metre megayacht is taking shape.  .

The hull has been relocated in spectacular fashion as a new construction phase begins.   Ancona, 11 May 2023 – Through its in-depth expertise and accomplished skill, CRN is bringing another new yacht to life: the CRN M/Y 143-Project Maranello is a new 67-metre steel and aluminium megayacht, a totally bespoke design and build.   CRN is currently constructing the new hull with its taut, fluid, aerodynamic lines and a potent sense of style that fully reflects her owner’s vision and specifications.   The CRN M/Y 143 combines CRN’s design and build quality and know-how with the experience and creativity of the Nuvolari Lenard studio.   Moran Yacht & Ship have played a key role as owner’s representatives for the project and will continue to assist the client through the build process until the technical review, inspection and acceptance, from project management to on-site supervision and coordinating the external suppliers.   The hull has now been transported to the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona, where the artisans’ expert hands are taking care of the carpentry, the fitting-out, the machinery and the on-board systems and equipment , prior to the installation of the furniture. The hull exterior will also be meticulously primed and painted .   The numerous production stages proceed in parallel and in staggered fashion in the various sections of the hull through a process of perfect symbiosis , like instruments in a symphony orchestra building to a crescendo – the completion of the piece.   The megayacht will have 5 decks and will accommodate up to 14 guests and 17 crew in exceptional comfort.   With the CRN M/Y 143 , the shipyard’s keen commitment to sustainability has resonated strongly with an owner who is especially concerned about safeguarding the environment . The result is an innovative, eco-friendly custom pleasure vessel with a state-of-the-art hybrid-propulsion system for enhanced energy efficiency and significantly improved fuel economy.     Besides the CRN M/Y 143 , Ferretti Group’s multi-brand Superyacht Yard in Ancona – an almost 80,000-sqm facility – is constructing two more full-custom CRN yachts : the CRN M/Y 144 (85 metres) and the CRN M/Y 145 (70 metres). It is also building a Custom Line Navetta 50, a Pershing 140#03 and a Pershing 140#04, all in aluminium, plus a steel and aluminium Riva 50Metri #03 and Riva 54Metri Superyacht Division. In addition, there is all the rest of the Custom Line output, with a total of 27 yachts under construction simultaneously in the sheds and at the quays for finishing, testing and delivery to their owners.

CRN are  well known for the building/design of some large steel super yachts over 50m, such as GIVI & ABILITY , as well as composite planning custom line luxury yachts like ANNE MARIE and LAVINA . The launch of their first 43m composite displacement yacht EMERALD STAR , has enhanced their position as one of the industries leading superyacht designers and innovators.  

CRN Yachts is based in Ancona, Italy, and is the super yacht side of the Ferretti Group, becoming part of the Ferretti group in 1999. CRN is the acronym of  “Costruzioni e Riparazioni Navali".  Sanzio Nicolini founded CRN in 1963 and began at first building small craft and then continued to start production of large yachts. Since the beginning, the company has been manufacturing luxury yachts with a mix of steel hulls and aluminum superstructures. The CRN yacht bow structure is one unmistakably trademark as well as their idiosyncratic stern designs.

Some of CRN's important projects include mega yachts up to 70 meters in length. The company’s philosophy is to blend luxury, comfort, and high performance into state of the art yachts. CRN strives to deliver a unique product.

Now with a fleet of over 116 mega yachts launched, the CRN shipyard in Ancona can now be seen as one of the principal builders of luxury yachts. Today the shipyard builds fully customized mega yachts in steel and aluminum from 30 to 70 meters under the CRN name and also semi custom vessels in composite material from 29 to 43 meters under the Custom Line name.

The first yacht in the agreement between these two giants was MAGNIFICA a luxury motor yacht of 43 meters launched as in 2001. She was the first hull of a very successful line of yachts. The shipyard in Ancona continued its expansion by joining forces with Custom Line in 2002 - another company bought by the Ferretti Group in 1998. Custom Line specializes in the production of maxi yachts in composite material.

CRN Yachts expanded at the beginning of 2003 by buying Mario Morini shipyard which neighbors CRN and was one of the few Italian shipyards to specialize in steel constructions. This expansion means the Italian shipyard is becoming one of the most important producers of luxury yachts in Europe, and the world.

Today in Ancona CRN Shipyard covers an area of approximately 80,000 sq. meters, of which 35,000 are covered. This size allows the simultaneous construction of more than 15 yachts at one time. It also allows for the creation of yachts over 70 meters in length. CRN has a workforce of around 380 employees, which does not include out sourced subcontractors which swells the ranks further.

First founded in Ancona, Italy in 1963, CRN eventually became part of the Ferretti Group in 1999 – and since then, it has become regarded in the yacht world for manufacturing and selling some of the best, fully customized 40- to 90-meter long steel and aluminum mega yachts.

Originally named Costruzioni e Riparazioni Navali by entrepreneur Sanzio Nicolini, its first founder, the name was later shortened to its acronym, CRN. Its shipyard is nearly 80,000 square meters in size, making it capable of housing megayachts of up to 90 meters in length.

With more than 50 years of history in its back pocket, CRN has become one of the largest yacht manufacturing companies in the European market. Its shipyard has a large private marina; three large docks of 100, 100 and 40 meters, respectively; and a port that opens up onto the Adriatic sea.

Inspired by passion, innovation and client preferences, the brand prides itself on building each ship with the highest levels of Italian design, grace and construction.
