Big Features, Smaller Package: the Benetti B.Yond 37M

Space is usually the reason that owners step up to a larger superyacht—say, a length overall of 197 feet or more. On those yachts, there are easily enough staterooms to accommodate up to 10 family members and friends; there are several lounging areas inside and out, spread across a few decks; and there is enough room for a party or for privacy. Getting all this in a yacht of less than 500 gross tons, which typically caps around 164 feet long, is just not possible.

Paolo Vitelli, president of the Azimut-Benetti Group, was convinced there’s a way. Not only that, but he believed yachtsmen would like a semicustom series with a steel hull, long range, volume rivaling much bigger boats, and four decks. He was thinking in ways yachtsmen hadn’t seen: Steel alone is a radical departure from the norm in this size range. Four decks are unheard of too.

He was right. The 121-foot Benetti B.Yond 37M landed about a dozen contracts before Hull No. 1, Goga , appeared at international yacht shows in 2022. As of January, the next available delivery date is in 2027.

Increasingly, yacht buyers are realizing that volume dictates how roomy a project will look and feel. To that end, the Benetti B.Yond 37M has a volume just shy of 400 gross tons. Strong-selling American- and European-built series yachts, even those that are 10 to 20 feet longer, are unable to rival that volume.

Of course, long-standing physical dimensions remain important. Each of the four decks aboard the new Benetti is a healthy length. This includes the partially sheltered sun deck, which is a full-fledged deck for up to 12 people. With a barbecue, a dining area, a seating area and pedestal observation chairs, Goga’s sun deck even has windows inset into the hardtop’s sides.

Benetti further sidesteps convention with the yacht’s 28-foot beam and an anything-but-cookie-cutter general arrangement. As much as series builders and designers say clients can arrange rooms as they see fit, inevitably, they suggest that the staterooms go belowdecks while the salon and dining area sit on the main deck. Even for yachts with main-deck master staterooms, conventional layouts still dominate. By contrast, the standard configuration for the Benetti B.Yond 37M places four guest staterooms and the master on the main deck. The lower deck is entirely for seven or eight crewmembers and all service areas.

More surprisingly, though, Goga follows an alternate arrangement, which Vitelli personally selected, since he intended to cruise aboard (and did for a month with his family). The master stateroom is on the bridge deck, with sliding-glass doors to an alfresco dining and sunning area. In the forward main-deck space where the master otherwise would have been are two guest staterooms. Just abaft them, there’s a playroom. In the not-too-distant past, a dedicated rumpus room would have been unthinkable, especially aboard a yacht of Goga’s dimensions. Perhaps in a sign of the times, nine of the contracts signed so far include the playroom. Owners can also fashion the space as a media room.

The B.Yond 37M also has an open-air toy “garage” four steps down from the main deck aft. The main deck has neither a traditional aft-deck leisure area nor sliding doors leading into a main salon; instead, the main lounge is one deck up, offering better views and freeing more deck space for toy stowage. If you’re wondering why the toys aren’t stowed below, in a garage, it’s because the yacht has a beach club with a sauna down there—once again providing owners and guests with leisure areas not found on comparable-length yachts. The toys launch to either side via fold-down bulkheads.

Finally, the bigger thinking extends to the propulsion package. Goga has a diesel-electric system with lithium-ion batteries created in collaboration with Siemens Energy, allowing four operational modes. Enhanced Comfort Mode is for low-speed coastal trips or nighttime cruising, with just the gensets and electric motors engaged. Extended Range Mode uses the main MANs powering the electric motors for full-speed, 14-knot trips. Eco Transfer Mode sees one MAN running solo, which Benetti says lets the yacht cruise up to 8,200 nautical miles at 9 knots. Eco Cruise Mode is a zero-emissions operation in which the battery pack’s capacity determines the potential range for short excursions.

Based on an average yearly 1,000 hours of use, with 400 hours spent cruising and the rest at anchor, Benetti says the system reduces carbon-dioxide emissions by up to 24 percent and nitrous-oxide emissions by up to 85 percent.

With the Benetti B.Yond 37M, Vitelli really did prove that it’s possible to get much more in a smaller length overall.

The Legacy of Stefano Righini

The Benetti B.Yond series is among the last projects designed by Stefano Righini, who died in October 2021. Righini’s pen strokes characterize the looks of nearly every Azimut and Benetti yacht currently afloat too. In total, approximately 6,000 of the brands’ yachts bear his signature.

Capable Compact Cruiser

With a reported range of 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots, the B.Yond 37M encourages owners to cruise farther and stay independent of shore longer. The yacht has the capabilities of a larger, full-displacement build in a size that’s better for small coves and many more marinas. 

Because of the B.Yond 37M’s volume and deck arrangements, the crew gets more space for amenities and operations. They have a mess opposite the belowdecks galley, and a laundry area. They also have their own stairway, independent of the guests’ stairs, and a dumbwaiter connecting all decks.

Designing your own yacht sounds like the ultimate indulgence for the head of any shipyard. Especially during a time of record demand, when customers are clamoring for any new boat they can get.

But it also had to be able to accommodate a large group of friends or family, with more staterooms than any yacht its size. Vitelli also liked the idea of a separate owner’s deck offering exceptional views of the water, both from the stateroom and outer decks. The boat also had to feel relaxed, without the usual formal dining room and other stuffy interior spaces that define many yachts over 130 feet. Finally, it would require hybrid diesel-electric propulsion, not just for sustainability, but for being able to cruise waters restricted to electric-only mode.

Vitelli’s answer, the first 121-foot 37M B.YOND, was launched at the Cannes Yachting Festival, but we had a chance to tour it last month after the Ft. Lauderdale show. First impressions: It has a Frankenboat look, with a vertical bow at the front of the steel hull, four tiered decks rising high over the water, and an open stern. It looked like a lot of mini-explorers that have emerged in the last four years, but a bit more square-edged and commercial, and with the steel hull—extremely rare on a boat this size—downright intrepid.

The yacht defies convention, packing as many features into the hull—thanks to the 28’3” foot beam—as a yacht 20 feet larger. Righini was able to keep Goga looking somewhat svelte, rather than bloated, with creative horizontal lines. Of course, the four decks helped.

The interior layout is counterintuitive, especially compared to other yachts its size. But that’s what makes it work. The main deck includes four guest suites, along with an open, informal salon with loose designer furniture from Giorgetti and a flat-screen television. Vitelli called this area the “play room,” according to the Benetti rep showing me around the boat, because it’s designed mostly for the kids. The real salon and dining areas for the adults is actually on the next deck up. Goga ’s owner also opted for his stateroom and outer decks to be on the bridge deck, which offers a measure of privacy.

The interior design by the Benetti in-house team might be too informal for some, though that’s currently the vibe of most superyachts. And while the stairs leading from deck to deck look cool and save valuable space, they could be a bit narrow and vertical for older owners and guests. The sky deck has space for al-fresco dining (all four decks are connected by a dumbwaiter for the crew to move food and drinks). The lower deck is designed for service, with the galley, crew quarters, laundry room. It also has two other guest staterooms, bringing the total to seven.

Goga also has a sizable tender garage to store its 21-foot tender, jet ski and other toys. The beach club has a shower, sauna and the fold-down transom door allows instant access to the sea.

E-Modes range from the “Extended-range,” where the diesels power the electric motors to run navigation and hotel loads (air conditioning, electricity) to “Eco-cruise” in which the boat runs on batteries alone. That will allow Goga into areas restricted for electric boats, including many marine sanctuaries.

Vitelli’s design for his dream boat has proven popular. Since Goga was launched, eight other 37M B.YONDs have been sold and are now under construction. Which means the Azimut-Benetti chairman may have to wait a few more years to get his boat.

Benetti launches first 37m Benetti B.Yond

Italian shipyard Benetti has added a “groundbreaking” new model to its fleet with the launch of the 37 metre Benetti B.Yond . Billed as “the greenest model in its class”, the new model hit the water in a private ceremony in Livorno this evening (July 4).

The B.Yond model was conceived by Paolo Vitelli, founder and president of the Azimut Benetti Group, with the creative input from architect Stefano Righini , who sadly died in October 2021. Built with a steel hull for comfortable, long-range cruising, the yacht marks a new chapter for Benetti as the first model in its Voyager series.

Speaking about the launch, Vitelli said he envisioned the B.Yond to break records. “I am happy to present one of the most innovative boats ever built,” he said. “Equipped with a hybrid system for long-range, environment-friendly cruising and featuring a four-deck layout in a length of just 37 metres, this is a dream come true for modern owners who want to cruise around the world with their family and friends.”

The 395GT yacht features an innovative E-Mode Hybrid system by Siemens Energy, which creates optimal energy consumption according to specific usage profiles. The result is “unprecedented” reductions in emissions for a yacht in this category, which works in combination with SCR filters, a type of emission control technology that has already been successfully adopted by the automotive industry.

According to Benetti, the technology is simple to handle and offers four different operating modes, including zero-emission cruising in full-electric mode and zero-emission anchoring in hotel mode. The batteries provide up to eight hours of autonomy during the day and 12 hours at night, and can be recharged in just three hours.

This technology ensures that “consumption and CO2 can be reduced by up to 24% and NOx by a maximum of 85%”, while also providing a marked improvement in onboard noise and vibrations. 

With its four-deck design, the B.Yond offers elevated views and a number of stand-out features not usually found on a boat of this size, including a walk-in wine cellar and a dedicated owner’s apartment on the bridge deck. There are also separate crew and guest passageways to ensure a seamless flow throughout the superyacht.

Accommodation is offered in five cabins, with the aforementioned owner’s cabin and a further four cabins on the main deck. The four cabins are accessed via a unique central lounge which Benetti has dubbed “The Playroom”. If owners choose, they can swap out the lower deck gym for a sixth cabin and split the captain’s cabin into two separate spaces to add a seventh cabin. There is also the option of switching the owner’s cabin into a panoramic veranda.

Interior design comes Benetti architect Mauro Izzo, and offers plenty of scope for customisation. Styling comes from leading contemporary design brand Giorgetti, and the first B.Yond model features “a palette of natural colours” which are complemented by blue and white accents inspired by the shades of the ocean.

The yacht will have a range of 5,000 nautical miles at ten knots and will be able to reach top speeds of 14 knots.

The B.Yond 37 voyager opts for an exceptional return to steel, differing from the usual fiberglass that is usually used on yachts of this size. For many markets, steel is symbolic of durability and dependency, hence proving optimal for this secure, long-distance voyager.

The yacht is permeated by innovation and novelty, as it adopts an E-Mode Hybrid system by Siemens Energy which optimizes onboard energy consumption according to specific usage profiles, translating this to record reductions in CO2 and NOx emissions.

Additionally, the boat comprises SCR catalytic filters. Combining the provenly effective innovations utilized in diesel engines with Siemens Energy, these filters allow simple movement between mechanical and electric propulsion automatically. This innovative solution liberates the operating modes of the latest B.Yond and includes a distinct, full electric mode for zero-emission navigation.

A lithium battery pack included in its architecture allows the yacht to remain anchored in Hotel Mode with zero emissions. As generators can be switched off while main-board operations continue through the utilization of the batteries, guests are afforded serenely peaceful views that are utterly noiseless.

A single pack of these new-generation, high-energy-density batteries will provide up to eight hours of autonomy at anchor during the day and 12 hours at night, taking only three hours to recharge. As a result of this novel anchor mode feature, CO2 emissions can be reduced by up to 24% and NOx by a maximum of 85%.

Additionally, the voyager offers incredible range, almost doubling that of traditional navettes of the same size or up to   8,200 nautical miles at 9 knots in Eco Transfer mode. This operational mode allows the two diesel generators to be switched off, leaving only one propulsion engine running. Hence, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions can be depleted by up to 16% and NOx emissions by up to 80% compared with traditional propulsion systems.

The revolutionary conception of this boat by Pallo Vitelli and the manifestation of it by Stefano Righini has created something that not only sets novel standards for sustainable voyaging, but also for luxury accommodation.

The lower leck of B.Yond 37M includes a walk-in wine cellar and a cold room, uniquely incorporated into a yacht this size for the languid enjoyment of guests onboard. The main deck comprises what Benetti calls the Playroom – a lively night area that offers four suites accessed from a panoramic lounge – while the upper deck offers unobstructed, 360-degree seascape views from the comfort of a communal living room. The bridge deck also comprises an exclusive private space for the owner whilst the sun deck provides an integrative dining area with a pantry and a sheltered outdoor table.

A spacious garage, gym, two jet skis and a 13.8-ft rescue boat can also be found onboard. The generally open and spacious interior of the boat allows for an injection of character and for one to cultivate a second home aboard Benetti’s B.Yond 37M.

Benetti B.YOND 37m is a series of Explorer yacht 120ft/36.5m superyachts built in in by Benetti. 7 Benetti B.YOND 37m yachts were delivered so far, with the first of these series, motor yacht 007 in 2025 , followed by 2024 006 , 2023 Nine 002 , 2023 GOGA 001 , 2023 003 , 2023 004 , 2023 005 .

Created to a design of Stefano Righini, B.YOND 37m has a Displacement Steel hull and Aluminium superstructure driven by 2 x MAN V12 -1400 engines to a maximum speed of knots while comfortably cruising at knots. The fuel tank has a capacity of 70000l/15385gal what allows a yacht to cover 5000 nautical miles without the need to refuel. Benetti B.YOND 37m has a beam of 8.6m/29ft. The gross tonnage of this Explorer yacht Benetti is 465 gross tons. That shows exactly how much interior space this yacht has.

Benetti B.YOND 37m can accommodate up to 10-12 people in 5-6 elegant staterooms to be assisted by a total of 7 crew members with 4 cabins for crew members.

Pleasantly surprised, service is good so is the food. Great selection of Fusion food, a mixture of Italian, Japanese, European, Asian etc. A pleasantly nice dining experience, highly recommended, a must try!

Best food, best view in Moscow. absolutely faultless from arrival to finish. Best risotto i had for many years absolutely perfectly cooked. The view on Ukrainian hotel and the white house by night is amazing

Had to wait for the food for 1.5 hours and then another 20 minutes for the check. Finally called for the manager and he offered... a 10% discount as a compensation. Simply pathetic! The food is mediocre at best. Not bad per se, but one... would expect something better considering the prices. There are many places to eat in area that are much better. Avoid this one at all costs. Food is very expensive,very pretentious, doesn't worth that money. Portions are very small. We ordered ravioli and there were 4! Four raviolis! For almost 15 euros. Then we asked to bring us dessert menu but nothing, they didn't even bothered, so we payed and left... without dessert. Very poor service for that price. More

This is a very good restaurant. The food is really good, maybe the best in Moscow. The service is also good. The view from the restaurant is great. The prices are very high.

I often visit this restaurant and must say it’s one of the best in Moscow in terms of quality and service. Staff really try hard to make sure that you are happy and satisfied. Customer service is a huge problem in Moscow but Chaika sets... a great example for others in the industry! Food is delicious and the menu has lots of options for everyone! Visited this lovely restaurant with a friend of mine. It was relaxingly warm August evening - so the place on the river seemed like a good idea. We came quite early and the restaurant was not full. The hostesses kindly offered several places to sit... and we chose to sit on the sofas. We had some wine, which was good. We struggled a bit when deciding about the food as few options (scallops) were not available. Fish on ice on display did not look very fresh. To be honest it was an unusually hot August and it is probably understandable that some see food options were not available. However, we did manage to order something and sat waiting and looking onto the river. My long-legged friend struggled sitting at the low sofa and the manager noticed that, offering as a very good, proper table beside the open window. It was nice touch and I was very pleased by their polite observations and immediate reaction to solve the problem. Food was quite good and presentation was perfect. Perhaps I can something about the food, but 1 visit is not enough to criticize or make a definitive opinion. Overall, quality place, which of course, does not come cheap. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. More
