Sustainably Minded
Conceived with environmental factors at the fore, the GRP-built yacht works hard to reduce its use of composite material, replacing it where possible with more easily recyclable materials, such as metal and glass. Cork flooring is used on the aft terrace, while inside, natural materials, including recycled, Indonesian teak and eco-leather pave the way to a greener existence.
Whirlpool Wonderland
Taking the plunge at sea is one of the coolest ways to stay refreshed. The Amer 120 boasts two whirlpool tubs, one on the spacious flybridge aft terrace, the second on the luxurious flybridge foredeck. Both are surrounded by sunpads, a grand open-air living space complete with sofas, and even the inclusion of an onboard garden for a final flourish of greenery.
Interior styled by Italian designer Stefano Tini, the Amer 120’s interior décor puts the extra into extraordinary. A large glass-encased, triple-fronted wine cellar takes centre stage in the main salon, setting the design tone. Cool whites are accented with pops of turquoise and designer loose furniture. Gaping windows frame the views outside, breathing natural light into the guest areas, accentuated by mirror, steel and glass.

Discretion is the name of the game when it comes to exemplary service, and the Amer 120 takes this into account with its ergonomic flow to aid interior service and subtle features to avert guests’ eyes. Along the internal stairs that connect the main deck to the flybridge, a hidden door provides access to the crew cabins. In the captain’s bridge, the onboard equipment includes a unique system for the identification of cetaceans – dolphins, whales and porpoises – meaning guests never miss the chance of a marine encounter.

Amer 120 is characterized by a full-width superstructure, which allows to have all the spaces of the main deck (saloon, owner’s cabin, kitchen, etc.) of particularly large dimensions; in terms of propulsion, it is equipeed with 4 Volvo IPS engines, able to be adapted for a future SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) installation that will allow to sail in the so-called ECA (Emission Control Areas).
The ship is standard equipped with a Seakeeper gyroscopic stabilizer that reduces the roll of the boat at anchor and the Humphree fins stabilizers that reduce it during navigation. The perfect combination of these two stabilizers increases the comfort already exiting to an excellent level by the Volvo propulsion and electronic anchor tool.
The large windows of both the main deck and the cabins of the lower deck will allow a greater presence of natural light for a more emotional blue waters view experience. A great work has also been done in the crew area where all the cabins have been made more comfortable.

Amer 120: Amer Yachts’ flagship takes shape
Amer 120, the new flagship of the Amer Yachts’ fleet, will be launched and introduced at next autumn boat shows
The Italian shipyard Permare celebrates its 47th birthday with the construction, currently under completion, of the new flagship Amer 120 , which is scheduled to be launched at the next autumn boat shows.
This is the great novelty that Amer Yachts launches for 2021, a 120-foot superyacht where nothing is left to chance, stating from its meaning.
“ Playing on mathematical symbology (all boating is based on complex mathematical calculations) 120 is the sum of four successive prime numbers that symbolize the 4 pods – explains Amer Yachts ‘ team in a press release – The number 4 in numerology means balance, contact with one’s roots, stability and security.
It is a triangular number, the sum of the natural numbers from 1 to 15 and the sum of the first 8 triangular numbers which makes it tetrahedral and symbolize for us the bow of the hull towards the sea of our new model. It’s a multi-perfect number which expresses the synthesis of the synergic work of the Amer Yachts team and the pool of supplier companies, with more than 120 people involved in the construction”.
About Amer 120
Power comes from 4 Volvo IPS engines , able to be adapted for a future SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) installation that will allow to sail in the so-called ECA (Emission Control Areas, in line with an increasingly widespread environmental protection-oriented configuration.
In fact, right from the design phase, the Permare shipyard has always worked with the target of improving its green approach during its building process, using new innovative tools for the creation of mouldings.
This propulsion allows navigation with exceptional comfort, quiet and vibration-free and easy manoeuvrability with the joystick that greatly simplifies mooring manoeuvring from 4 different points of the yacht.
Another key feature of the Amer 120 lies in her minimized consumption . The boat is equipped with a Seakeeper gyroscopic stabilizer, which reduces the roll of the boat when at anchor, and the Humphree fins stabilizers, which reduce it during navigation. The perfect combination of these two stabilizers significantly increases the comfort already offered by the Volvo propulsion.
A great work has also been done not only in the 5 guest cabins but also in the crew area: “once the crew is comfortable – says a note from Amer Yachts – the guests will be so too”.
” With this first time lapse, made during the construction of the new Amer 120, from the hull layout to the indoor bulkheads, we have wanted to let the public discover the behind the scenes of a shipyard – explains Barbara Amerio, CEO and Sustenaibility Director of Amer Yachts – Others will follow to illustrate the different processes, a way to gradually reveal how a boat is born and grows up to launch. At the same time, focusing on time lapse footage has allowed us to evaluate, think and implement even more modern and functional processes”.
Amer 120 is designed to be compliant to all the requirements requested to get the Rina green and comfort certifications. Moreover, the yacht is ready for new technical certifications, such as “Green”, which evaluates environmental performance; “Comfort”, which examines noise and vibrations on board, and a new certification that will measure the impact of the vessel in the underwater environment. For this new particular certification, the yacht must respect very strict parameters.
Scheduled to be introduced at the next autumn boat shows, Amer 120 will be the world’s longest superyacht equipped with IPS propulsion.
A record which Permare Group is particulary proud of.

Presentation
Yacht class n°28 (march-april-may 2022), permare yachts.
Classified as one of the biggest units exhibited at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2021, the Amer 120 is also Permare’s largest yacht. For several years already, the Italian shipyard, based in Sanremo, has been won over by Volvo Penta IPS, hence the “quadruple motorization” it has opted for for this unique unit. In addition, the interior layout of this three-deck is designed to satisfy the needs of yachtsmen for whom comfort is a priority.

The yachting world has not hesitated to take the path of innovations, especially “environment friendly” ones. If they are not compelled to do so, the shipyards are well aware that it is in their interest to conceive units meeting “clean” standards, to minimize sources of pollution. Permare has always taken this into account. It was actually one of the first to opt for composite materials for their recognized strength and lightness. In this search, the Italian shipyard has also developed close relations with the engine manufacturer Volvo Penta, particularly on the basis of its IPS propulsion system, whose assets are in line with eco-responsibility: lower fuel consumption, less noise and vibration, hence better performance plus, in addition, a smaller volume in the engine room that favours habitability on the lower deck. Even though the maximum rated power of a IPS does not currently exceed 1 000 hp, opting for multiple engines is a solution. Thus, the Amer 120 is fitted with four Volvo Penta IPS1350 diesel engines (4 x 1 000 hp) and can boast of being the world’s largest unit with this configuration at the moment.
An interior design by Stefano Tini
As required from a technical point of view, a Volvo IPS-powered hull necessitated a study conducted by the shipyard’s in-house design office in association with Swedish engineers, particularly in the case of a quadruple motorization. The notion of performance was definitely listed in the specifications of this 35-metre whose maximum speed is announced at 26 knots, while she boasts a range of 520 miles at the “fast” cruising speed of 24 knots. This is another benefit in addition to the ease of manoeuvring provided by the four IPS. The Amer 120 could not navigate its way at such speeds without a suitable silhouette. Thus Permare’s design team has endowed this three-deck with a conquering look. There are many windows on the lower deck and especially on the main one: a total of 93 square metres that will bathe the interiors in abundant light and offer passengers a panoramic view of the sea. We saw this when we entered the largest interior space, the salon-dining room, which enjoys a maximum of light and an interesting surface area of 55 m2. The decorative stainless-steel arches catch the eye and brings some originality. Special attention is to be paid to the lateral openings at the level of the dining area that create a pleasant interior terrace. Still on the main deck, the port side passageway leads to the galley, appropriately furnished with professional equipment, while the starboard goes to the entrance of the master suite and some sort of “antechamber” opening onto a balcony. Then comes the 30 m2 master cabin bathed with light thanks to side windows. It has a full beam bathroom with two washbasins and an independent shower with a sea view. The lower deck accommodates the four guest cabins, all en suite and equipped with a double bed facing a large porthole. Such a large sleeping capacity will allow the Amer 120 to be easily chartered.
A very convivial foredeck
Forward of the main deck, a staircase leads up to the enclosed wheelhouse where, in addition to the large central dashboard, there is a small lounge and a chaise longue. The Amer can also be piloted from the flybridge (the sitting position is recommended for an unrestricted view) thanks to a helm station protected by an inverted windshield and the flybridge roof. As on all flybridges, the upper deck is first a place to relax, to sit on the aft deckchairs or enjoy a meal in the central dining area. It also features on each side a staircase leading to the cockpit of the central deck, where are gathered a lounge, another dining area, whose settee can be folded down to act as a solarium. The stern of this 120 has a swim platform whose central part is hydraulic to facilitate the launch of the tender from its garage, closed by the transom. Let’s head now to the bow where the foredeck was generously designed in terms of comfort. Proof is the 35 m2 of deck space entirely dedicated to relaxation where are gathered a pool, two large solariums plus a huge U-shaped settee. With this flagship, Permare has taken a major step forward in its conquest of the market of units over 24-metre, a sector undeniably dominated by Italian shipyards. This is yet another demonstration of its know-how in the flybridge category.

Amer Yachts

Amer 120: the largest yacht with IPS will also protect the underwater environment
This week the Italian shipyard Permare (Amer Yachts) has unveiled new images of the interiors of their new flagship – Amer 120 – currently in build in Sanremo. The new model will be introduced at the next boat shows but has some features for which she is already renowned. Permare, with almost a ten-year experience in planning hull with multiple pods, is building the largest boat in the world equipped with IPS motorization.
The new Amer 120 , will have a LOA of 36,5m and a beam of 7,70m, featuring an exterior and interior design by Arch. Massimo Verme. Currently in build, the yacht, in composite material, is scheduled for launch next year. According to preliminary data, the yacht will reach a max speed of 26 kn. About this new model, Barbara Amerio said: “We are very proud of this new build, not only is this boat our new flagship, but she also represents an important record for being the largest yacht ever built with IPS system (Volvo Penta)”.
“We have always worked with the environmental issue in mind and with the target of improving our green approach during our building process using new innovative tools for the creation of mouldings”, says Barbara Amerio. “Volvo Penta Ips propulsion allows navigation with exceptional comfort, quiet and vibration-free and easy manoeuvrability with the joystick that greatly simplifies mooring manoeuvring from 4 different points of the ship. Another feature a key point for the shipyard is the consumptions reduced to a minimum”.
This yacht is studied to be compliant to all the requirements requested to get the Rina green and comfort certifications. Moreover, the yacht is ready for a new technical certification that will measure the impact of the vessel in the underwater environment. For this new particular certification, the yacht must respect very strict parameters.

Amer 120 appears with a modern and characterizing line. This aspect comes from its structure that was conceived of in order to use less composite material, replacing it with metal and plate glass windows (two elements that are easily recyclable), reducing by four tons the composite material, which is limited to the hull and the structure of the flybridge. The impression, when boarding, is of great brightness: the light penetrates inside from the large vertical windows that give the boat a very personal and refined style. The aft terrace (with a big whirlpool tub) and the grand living space in the cockpit become a unique out/indoors area. The decorative perspective focuses on the recovery of materials: cork flooring is used on the aft terrace.
And in the interiors, a choice was made for natural materials, such as recycled Indonesian teak, handcrafted in Italy. The wood veining is associated with the contrasting use of mirror steels, mirrors, and transparent volumes. A transparent “cave à vin” stands out in the main living area of the main deck. Relaxing light colors, apparently minimal design, use of eco-leather. The master cabin is full beam, scenographic, high, with a limestone bathroom. Along the internal stairs that connect the main deck to the flybridge, there is a hidden door to access the crew’s cabins.
The onboard equipment includes a unique system for the identification of cetaceans and their subsequent reporting.
The yacht is equipped with a Seakeeper gyro stabilizer that reduces the roll of the boat at anchor and Humphree fin stabilizers that reduce it during navigation.
Amer 120 is the largest yacht ever built that uses the Volvo IPS engine: 4000 HP divided into four engines that correspond to less than 25% of the power compared to that of its competitors while ensuring similar performance. The propulsion system is prepared for the future SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) to navigate in the ECA (Emission Control Area), sea areas destined to increase in order to protect the environment.
