Take 5 was built to cruise the world in luxury, with safety and redundancy playing a key role. She was built in 2009 with the best of everything. There are many unique features on Take 5 , one being the custom layout which allows for an extremely luxurious and spacious lower VIP cabin, which was achieved by reversing the spiral staircases going from the lower cabins upward to the pilothouse. Another result of this custom layout is the vast pantry spaces it provided on the main level near the galley. There truly is an amazing amount of storage on this vessel. The moment you walk in the aft salon door you really get a feel of the open and airy spaces aboard Take 5 . Her machinery spaces were spec’d to be reliable and redundant, especially with the option of twin engines and triple generators. The navigation equipment also has many redundancies and is what you would expect to see on any expedition yacht. Many of the navigation systems have been upgraded over the years since Take 5 was first launched. Take 5 has spent her days cruising both coasts with a majority of her time spent here on the East Coast. She is a truly amazing vessel that is ready for her next adventure.

The main salon is open and airy with great visibility all around. The finished wood is teak with a satin gloss varnish. The audio/visual system on Take 5 is top-of-the-line, creating a nice atmosphere for movies and entertaining. The loose furniture in the salon allows a new buyer quite a bit of flexibility. The loose sofa and chairs can be relocated or modified to suit the buyer’s needs. The salon really has an open feel to it and is great for entertaining.

The galley of Take 5 is a gourmet chef’s dream. Top-of-the-line appliances, ample counterspace to prep meals and an abundant amount of storage. The salon is open to the galley, so the chef behind the counter can always be involved with what is happening in the salon.

Owner’s Stateroom

The owner’s stateroom of Take 5 is finished in a rich satin gloss teak wood. The full beam design creates a spacious and roomy stateroom. The hanging locker and drawer storage in this stateroom was well thought out, with multiple hanging lockers and several banks of drawers. There is more storage here than you would find in most homes.  The owner’s stateroom of Take 5 is equipped with a king size berth as well as opening portlights and opening overhead hatches allowing for good natural light as well as ventilation. There are teak framed shoji panels on sliding tracks covering the portlights on the port starboard sides of the cabin, which allow for ultimate privacy. The owner’s head is quite spacious with plenty of storage, a bathtub, vanity area, separate shower and toilet area. 

VIP Guest Stateroom

The VIP stateroom on the lower deck is set up for your most important guests.  This is truly a VIP guest cabin. This cabin is equipped with full walk-around queen bunk. There is a hanging locker and drawer storage. The bulkheads are covered in teak wood with a satin finish. Mimicking the owner’s cabin again there are shoji panels covering the portlights allowing for privacy. The opening portlights and fresh air blower are a great source of ventilation. The spacious VIP guest head is one-of-a-kind with a large bath tub, separate shower and ample room.

Guest Cabin

The guest stateroom on the lower deck has a large custom size berth. The bulkheads are covered in a satin gloss finish teak wood. The guest stateroom is equipped with portlights which allow for nice natural light in this cabin. The opening portlights and fresh air blower are a great source of ventilation. This cabin is also equipped with a private full head with a shower. It is a very nice secondary guest cabin.

Laundry Room

Take 5 is equipped with a private laundry area, which contains a front-loading freezer as well as extra storage. This laundry room area also contains the entrance to the engine room thru a water tight door.

The pilothouse is equipped with an electronics/navigation package that you would normally see on a much larger superyacht, from safety to comfort, this pilothouse has it all. From the two Stidd helm chairs the dash equipment is all easily accessible. There was a lot of thought put into the pilothouse dash layout of Take 5 , everything important is an arm’s reach away. The guests aboard Take 5 have a great vantage point from the pilothouse settee, which is set up higher than the dash and allows for great unobstructed views all around. There is a drinks fridge built into the pilothouse settee allowing the operator on night watch access to cold beverages without having to leave the helm. The pilothouse house has plenty of storage for your gear, charts, etc. Aft of the pilothouse is the captain’s cabin and full head with shower.

I had the chance to build Take 5 for the original owners back when I was a project manager for Nordhavn. The build experience was a true pleasure for both myself and the owners. Back in 2009 and 2010 I was fortunate enough to put a couple thousand miles on Take 5 back on the west coast in Mexico and California. Since then I have kept up with the vessel and followed along with her adventures. I also had the pleasure of staying aboard Take 5 this past summer for two weeks in the Bahamas with my wife and two young children. What an experience that was! Now I have the pleasure of helping find a new owner of Take 5 . She is now ready for new adventures and I look forward hearing all about them.

Built in 2016 by Sunseeker, the 131-foot (39.93m) charter yacht TAKE 5 is seductive, elegant and luxury at its finest. TAKE 5 features three spacious decks for guests to enjoy. Charter yacht TAKE 5 accommodates up to 12 guests in five stylishly seductive staterooms. Her 900-square-foot master stateroom is forward on the main deck and provides a luxurious private oasis featuring a walk-around king bed and en-suite with a large European rainfall shower and dual sinks. TAKE 5 is a wonderful charter yacht for families as below deck she has two queen staterooms and the two twin-bed staterooms each with a Pullman. She is stylish and seductive.  Three-deck Sunseeker 131 motor yacht TAKE 5 epitomizes everything that defines a luxury yacht.  She features staterooms and volume to accommodate up to twelve guests.  The yacht is immense and awe-inspiring.  Guests enjoy multiple recreation areas.  Active passengers find hours of entertainment options. For instance, a wide array of watersports equipment and state-of-the-art audio/visual systems. Her finishes are ultra-modern.

LUXURY YACHT ACCOMMODATIONS

She is available in the Mediterranean in summer. Also, she charters the Caribbean in winter.  Motor yacht TAKE 5, features 5 guest staterooms.  The master stateroom is 900 square feet. It is forward, on the main deck.  This suite is a “private oasis.”  The cabin features a centerline king bed. In addition, an ensuite bathroom and large European rainfall shower and dual sinks.   The private yacht charter family-friendly layout boasts two queen staterooms.  Additionally, two twin-bed staterooms, each with a Pullman berth, are below deck.  Each cabin’s decor is exquisite.  These guest accommodations are slightly above the water level. Sunseeker Motor Yacht ‘Take 5’ Joins Charter Fleet

The 40m/131ft luxury yacht ‘Take 5’ is the latest addition to the global charter fleet, and will be cruising in Mediterranean destinations such as the French Riviera and Corsica this summer.

Launched by Sunseeker in 2016, Take 5 combines the UK yard’s signature craftsmanship with a bespoke interior design. Embodying modern elegance and luxury at its finest, she is expected to be a popular choice among charterers cruising in the Mediterranean this summer.  

Sure to standout, even when docked in the hotspots of the French Riviera, she boasts a classic navy blue hull and distinct glazing and cutaway bulwarks. Such a design floods the interior with natural light and is one of the upgrades of Sunseeker’s 131 range of which Take 5 belongs.

Stunning views of the region can be taken in from the sundeck while sunbathing, catching up with friends in a choice of seating areas, sipping cocktails at the bar, or unwinding in the Jacuzzi.

Alfresco dining, meanwhile, takes place on the extended upper deck aft below and casual lunches for a select few can be served on the foredeck, which is also equipped with a line-up of sunpads. Guests can then get closer to the water in the chic water-level beach club.

The interior of charter yacht Take 5 embodies a contemporary Hampton Beach House style, with satin finished American walnut wall panels and a muted colour palette of sliver and grey.   

Lined by full-length windows, the main salon features a sociable lounge area as well as a formal dining setup, where guests can entertain in sophisticated style. More relaxed gatherings are suited to the light and airy skylounge above, with wooden floorboards and a sleek bar.

Boat with 25 migrants from Haiti interdicted off Florida

A boat carrying 25 migrants from Haiti was recently interdicted by Florida law enforcement, state officials said Friday.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said Florida Fish and Wildlife officers intercepted the vessel “within the last couple of weeks.”

“In their boat, in their vessel, they had firearms, they had drugs, they had night vision gear and were boating very recklessly, which would potentially endanger other folks,” DeSantis said at a press conference.

DeSantis said the boat was interdicted near the Sebastian inlet, and the migrants were turned over to the Coast Guard for deportation.

Florida Fish and Wildlife released a statement acknowledging that officers had intercepted a boat carrying “multiple illegal Haitian immigrants, guns, drugs and night vision equipment” on Feb. 29. After stopping the vessel, officers “immediately” knew they had “intercepted a human smuggling operation,” the agency said.

On Thursday, DeSantis announced Florida would deploy additional law enforcement resources to the southern regions of the state in anticipation of a possible wave of Haitian migrants as the country struggles with street violence and political instability.

The Florida governor, speaking at a press conference, said he signed three bills that target illegal immigration in the state. He also said the state had been looking at boats before the announcement Thursday and law enforcement is going to “continue to do it.”

DeSantis criticized the federal government for failing to take responsibility and said it is “not really” Florida’s responsibility to increase its resources to combat the influx of migrants.

“We’ve got an incredible amount of resources that are now on display,” he said, later adding that the “Coast Guard does by and large a good job but they’re undermanned, they’re under resourced, so we’re filling those gaps.”

DeSantis used the speech to slam President Biden for his border policies, and said migrants from all over the world, as well as Haiti, are going to have an easier time entering the United States by “walking across the border” than anywhere else because they know that “Biden will just let everybody in.”

Queensland local government election results show several incumbent mayors face 'kicking' from voters

A mood for change has swept through regional Queensland, with voters punishing several incumbent mayors in major cities who are fighting to hold onto their jobs. 

The long-time mayor of Townsville, Jenny Hill, is battling to save her political career after a challenge from local businessman Troy Thompson.

With almost 70 per cent of the vote counted, Ms Hill is trailing Mr Thompson 43.71 per cent to 46.19 per cent on the first preference vote.

The third candidate, nurse Harry Patel, has received just over 10 per cent of the first preference vote.

Mayors in Cairns, Bundaberg, Mackay,  the Southern Downs and Mount Isa are also facing tough times and, in some cases, are losing the battle to hold on to their jobs.  

Voters dissatisfied

Griffith University political analyst Paul Williams said there appeared to be a mood for change across some, but not all, regional parts of the state.

"The only indicator that we might have to what voters might be thinking in changing local government representatives, as any reason why voters want to change incumbents, is general dissatisfaction," Associate Professor Williams said.

"So we know that voters, particularly in regional Queensland are unhappy with a range of issues.

He said cost of living was the biggest issue, followed by youth crime.

"So if the local voters feel politicians aren't doing enough about youth crime, if politicians aren't doing enough about cost of living, they will kick the incumbent at the first opportunity," he said.

"And the first opportunity in this occasion is a local government election in regional Queensland."

He said that was the case even if the level of government involved didn't have oversight over that issue. 

State election warning

Associate Professor Williams said the results in areas such as Townsville and Cairns would be a worry for the Labor state government, which is looking to hold onto those seats at October's State Election.

He said Labor members and candidates in the regions would feel the mood for change more than others.

"Just because voters have kicked incumbents in regional Queensland, particularly in the provisional cities, doesn't mean they're going to kick LNP candidates, far from it," he said.

In Townsville, neither Mr Thompson nor Cr Hill, who has been mayor since 2012, has claimed victory.

Mr Thompson said he would be closely monitoring the results today.

"I won't say I'm comfortable at all I'm just at the point where we wait with caution and see how we go," Mr Thompson said.

"There's still 45,000 votes to come in and also the preferences."

Mr Thompson, who is reported to have previously sought preselection with One Nation but is currently not a registered member of the party, ran on a rate freeze and tough-on-crime platform.

Crime, cost of living key issues

High crime rates in the city and the cost of living were two of the key issues voters raised at the polling booth.

"Just fix up the crime around Townsville make it a better place for all of us," one voter told the ABC.

"Cost of living … that is a lot, it's expensive."

Another voter, Grace Bryce, said that her while crime was an issue, road conditions and access to parks were also important.

The tough results for Cr Hill come after she was found not guilty in 2021 of driving without due care and attention in a crash that claimed the life of a 33-year-old motorcyclist.

The crash occurred in January 2020, in the months leading up to the previous council election.

She is one of many incumbent mayors across regional Queensland facing a strong challenge as counting continues from Saturday's elections.

In Bundaberg, incumbent Jack Dempsey, who in 2022 unsuccessfully ran for federal parliament, is trailing challenger Helen Blackburn.

Ms Blackburn, with 71 per cent of the vote counted, has just over 57 per cent of the first preference vote, while Mr Dempsey has just over 32 per cent.

Cr Dempsey took to Facebook on Sunday afternoon to thank people for their encouragement and support over the past eight years.

"It was a pleasure and a privilege to serve as mayor of the beautiful Bundaberg Region," the post said.

Ms Blackburn said the election results showed a mandate for transparency and accountability.

"I'm feeling very confident with the election results, that the people of the Bundaberg region have decided that what they are after is change," she said. 

Cairns Mayor Terry James is trailing challenger Amy Eden, who has 31 per cent of the first preference vote to his 22 per cent – with 55 per cent of the vote counted.

Ms Eden said she was feeling "buoyed" by the results. 

Mackay Mayor Greg Williamson is currently leading the first preference count, receiving 42 per cent of the vote.

However, former rugby league player Steve Jackson is coming second with just over 38 per cent of the first preference vote, while councillor Laurence Bonaventura has received just under 20 per cent.

"It's a very close race, there is no doubt about it," Cr Williamson said.

"All we can do now is wait.

"All of the pre-poll votes have got to be counted and there's a few thousand of those to go, and once that's determined then there's the distribution of the preferences."

Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen is trailing challengers Tom Sharp and Jeffrey McConnell.

He conceded defeat on Sunday afternoon. 

On the Southern Downs, Mayor Vic Pennisi is behind challenger Melissa Hamilton.

Ms Hamilton said the votes were showing an appetite for change.

"If the voting trends continue then I am ready to lead a new council that works together to get things done for all of our wonderful communities, and I'm excited by the opportunities for our region," she said. 

Incumbent mayors in the Cassowary Coast, Aurukun, Burdekin, Cherbourg, North Burnett, Charters Towers, Mornginton Shire, Wujal Wujal and Maranoa were also under pressure as counting continued.

An 'anti-incumbency trend'

Queensland University of Technology Associate Professor John Mickel, a former speaker of Queensland's Legislative Assembly, said there had been an "anti-incumbency trend" across many parts of regional Queensland.

"It was profound in Bundaberg and the Scenic Rim. There is evidence of it in Mackay, and it seems to be there in Townsville as well," he said.

"In the absence of exit polling, it's hard to know why the trend is there.

"But it seems to be part of a story this time in regional Queensland."

Professor Mickel said local government elections in Queensland worked on an optional preferential voting model – where voters just had to put a 1 next to their candidate of choice.

He said the trend across previous elections showed voters generally didn't preference other candidates, so those who were leading in the first preference count tended to win.

"There might be some exchange of preferences, but not enough to overhaul anybody," he said.

"A lot of people are happy just to put one because they know that person."

But he said while there were these tight races in some areas, such as Gladstone and smaller regions like Goondiwindi, there had been a trend of some mayors running unopposed.

"It's a tale of Queensland in a way, there's so much regionalism," he said.

Some candidates confident

In Rockhampton, Mayor Tony Williams said he felt confident he would retain his role for another term.

Mr Williams is leading the count with 68 per cent of first preference votes, and around 80 per cent of the votes have been counted.

"There is plenty of opportunity coming up for our region over the next decade, and I think now is a great time to take advantage of that," Mr Williams said.

Former federal MP George Christensen looks set to return to politics as vote counting continues in the Mackay councillor race.

Mr Christensen is a member of Steve Jackson's 'Jacko's Team' grouping and is currently coming second in the race for one of 10 councillor positions — but only a small number of votes have been counted so far. 

In recent days, Mr Christensen, now a member of One Nation, has been running on an anti-woke platform, slamming a theatre event for kids at the council-owned events centre, as it features drag queens.

Spanish police arrest 3 people over the deaths of 5 migrants forced out of a smugglers’ boat

MADRID (AP) — Spanish police say they’ve arrested three people for the deaths of five migrants who were forced to jump off the boat they were traveling in with dozens of other migrants. A police statement on Monday said the five died late last November off the southern coast of Cádiz. They said two men and a woman were arrested but gave no further details. Police said the smugglers had threatened the five with a machete if they did not jump into the sea despite the strong currents and cold temperatures. Thirty-seven migrants had traveled in the boat from Morocco after paying large sums for a place in the boat.
