Moonen motor yacht Moonshadow NOA sold

Related articles, superyacht directory.

The 25.9-metre Moonen motor yacht Moonshadow NOA has been sold by Fraser, with Dennis Frederiksen and Vassilis Fotilas representing the seller, and Erhan Dogru of CRM Yachting who acted on behalf of the buyer.

Moonshadow NOA was delivered in 1991 by Dutch yard Moonen Yachts as part of its Moonen 85 series. She sports an exterior by Diana Yacht Design , while the yard penned the interiors in-house. A refit in 2008 saw a revamped sundeck and a full paint job to her steel hull and aluminium superstructure.

Accommodation is offered for up to eight guests in three cabins comprising a master suite with his and hers sinks and two guest staterooms, one with a bunk bed and one with a queen-sized bed. A crew of four find accommodation in two cabins.

Standout features include a sundeck with ample room for sun lounging, with al fresco dining on the aft deck. Tender storage is found on the wide bridge deck, while the foredeck includes the second control station.

Warm interiors boast an L-shaped sofa and comfortable armchair, with a dining area for up to eight guests forward of a galley. Homely bookshelves and windows providing ample natural light complete the main deck’s interior space.

Twin MTU Mercedes diesel engines provide a top speed of 11 knots and a cruising speed of nine knots, with a maximum range of 3,000 nautical miles.

Moonshadow NOA was asking €1,250,000.

Accommodations, moon shadow specification, water sports, scuba diving, entertainment, green initiatives, moon shadow crew profile.

Captain Lené Conradie Captain Lené Conradie was born and raised in George located in the Western Cape of South Africa. Since she can remember she’s always been up for any challenge, no matter the size, from playing tennis and field hockey at very high levels to crossing the Atlantic Ocean at 20 years of age. Straight after completing High school Lené went ahead and completed her Yachtmaster qualification along with other instructor qualifications, she has worked for two sailing schools in South Africa including the number one rated sailing school in the country. After crossing the Atlantic from Gran Canaria to Antigua and island hopping until the BVI, Lené knew that she found her dream destination, The Caribbean. Lené prides herself in safety, professionalism and creating memories that last a lifetime. She loves to make sure that all guests are happy and would gladly walk,or in this case sail, an extra few miles to ensure that this is the case. Chef Jean-Richard Knipe Jean-Richard´s passion for the hospitality industry began at a young age, growing up in the west coast of South Africa, where his father ran a business in the hospitality sector. This early exposure to the industry inspired Jean-Richard to pursue a career in hospitality, with the ultimate goal of becoming a yacht chef. After completing his culinary arts qualification at the Francois Ferreira Academy in 2013, Jean-Richard began working in fine dining and upmarket kitchens in Cape Town. During this time, he focused on expanding his culinary knowledge and experience, developing his skills in creating high-end, gourmet cuisine using the freshest possible ingredients. In 2019, Jean-Richard transitioned into becoming a private chef, honing his skills in creating bespoke culinary experiences for discerning guests. As a private chef, he learned the importance of tailoring his offerings to meet the unique needs and preferences of each guest, while still maintaining the highest standards of quality and luxury. Jean-Richard´s love for seafood is likely to be reflected in his culinary creations, as South Africa´s west coast is known for its abundance of fresh seafood. With over a decade of experience in the industry, he brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to his role as a yacht chef, ensuring that guests on-board can expect an elite culinary experience that caters to their every need. Deckhand/ Divemaster Herman Bester First Mate Herman Bester hails from a small town on the west coast of South Africa called Saldanha. Herman has always had a love for the ocean as he grew up practically right next to the beach where he always found himself snorkeling, fishing, surfing and everything in between. He has a degree in Sports science but then found a new passion for scuba diving. His diving qualifications were done during the winter in South Africa so you might hear him joking about literally sweating while diving in the Caribbean’s beautiful warm waters. Ensuring that the guests are safe, happy and comfortable throughout all stages of a dive is something that he always strives for. With an eye for detail and a love for upkeep Herman takes great pride in the appearance of any vessel he works on. His experience in hospitality assures that he always leaves guests with a smile on their faces and a lasting memory to go along with it.

What can I say other than: wow! Everything about the experience was absolutely 5-star. The ship itself is immaculate, the quarters are spacious and comfortable, and the crew was as awesome as one could hope. It was the trip of a lifetime and I couldn’t recommend it more!

First Rate Vacation

Itinerary was so well thought out and executed. Crew was second to none. They were very proactive about safety, while making sure we were enjoying ourselves, not easy! Not to mention, the food was top notch, lobsters and crème brûlée just to name a couple examples. The catamaran itself was very comfortable, plenty of space for 8 passengers and 3 crew. I did not get seasick once for the 5 nights I spent on it. As for activities: snorkeling, island exploring, and just kicking back with a “few” painkiller cocktails at the bars was just the vacation I needed. Highly recommend! One tip, reapply sunscreen aggressively, BVI sun is very strong!

Trip was amazing. We sailed around all the islands. Incredibly helpful staff. Food was amazing, highly recommend this vacation!

Our 7-day journey aboard the Moon Shadow was exceptional! Accompanied by four other couples and led by a crew of three, our exploration of the British Virgin Islands became an unforgettable adventure. Captain Lené set the tone for our trip with her confident and friendly demeanor. She sailed us to all of the top spots in the BVI. The ´no stress´ approach of her deck hand, H, added a layer of tranquility, making every moment aboard relaxing. Richard, our chef, was a culinary master who turned each meal into a delectable masterpiece. I would not miss a meal if I were you! The Moon Shadow is a beautifully appointed floating haven. From luxurious amenities to practical conveniences, the yacht provides a perfect blend of comfort and style. The inclusion of water toys adds another level of fun to water activities. What made our voyage truly special, however, was not just the incredible yacht or the breathtaking locations. It was the crew – Lené, H, and Richard – who went above and beyond their roles, becoming not just service providers but new friends we hope to see again.

Jean-Richard's love for seafood is likely to be reflected in his culinary creations, as South Africa's west coast is known for its abundance of fresh seafood.

Chef Jean-Richard Knipe

Jean-Richard's passion for the hospitality industry began at a young age, growing up in the west coast of South Africa, where his father ran a business in the hospitality sector.
Jean-Richard's love for seafood is likely to be reflected in his culinary creations, as South Africa's west coast is known for its abundance of fresh seafood. With over a decade of experience in the industry, he brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to his role as a yacht chef, ensuring that guests on-board can expect an elite culinary experience that caters to their every need.

Deckhand/ Divemaster Herman Bester

First Mate Herman Bester hails from a small town on the west coast of South Africa called Saldanha.

";s:14:"yachtCrewPhoto";s:0:"";s:13:"yachtCrew1Pic";s:76:"https://www.centralyachtagent.com/yachtadmin/yachtlg/yacht8705/8705crew1.jpg";s:13:"yachtCrew2Pic";s:76:"https://www.centralyachtagent.com/yachtadmin/yachtlg/yacht8705/8705crew2.jpg";s:13:"yachtCrew3Pic";s:76:"https://www.centralyachtagent.com/yachtadmin/yachtlg/yacht8705/8705crew3.jpg";s:13:"yachtCrew4Pic";s:76:"https://www.centralyachtagent.com/yachtadmin/yachtlg/yacht8705/8705crew4.jpg";s:13:"yachtCrew5Pic";s:0:"";s:13:"yachtCrew6Pic";s:0:"";s:13:"yachtCrew7Pic";s:0:"";s:13:"yachtCrew8Pic";s:0:"";s:13:"yachtCrew9Pic";s:0:"";s:14:"yachtCrew10Pic";s:0:"";s:14:"yachtCrew1Name";s:14:"Lené Conradie";s:14:"yachtCrew2Name";s:12:"Jean-Richard";s:14:"yachtCrew3Name";s:13:"Herman Bester";s:14:"yachtCrew4Name";s:16:"Lené and Herman";s:14:"yachtCrew5Name";s:0:"";s:14:"yachtCrew6Name";s:0:"";s:14:"yachtCrew7Name";s:0:"";s:14:"yachtCrew8Name";s:0:"";s:14:"yachtCrew9Name";s:0:"";s:15:"yachtCrew10Name";s:0:"";s:15:"yachtCrew1Title";s:7:"Captain";s:15:"yachtCrew2Title";s:4:"Chef";s:15:"yachtCrew3Title";s:8:"Deckhand";s:15:"yachtCrew4Title";s:0:"";s:15:"yachtCrew5Title";s:0:"";s:15:"yachtCrew6Title";s:0:"";s:15:"yachtCrew7Title";s:0:"";s:15:"yachtCrew8Title";s:0:"";s:15:"yachtCrew9Title";s:0:"";s:16:"yachtCrew10Title";s:0:"";s:9:"yachtFlag";s:6:"Poland";s:13:"yachtHomePort";s:27:"Virgins/Grenadines/Windward";s:14:"yachtWBasePort";s:16:"USVI / BVI / SXM";s:8:"yachtRig";s:0:"";s:14:"yachtGrossTons";s:0:"";s:12:"yachtAcNight";s:3:"Yes";s:16:"yachtAcSurCharge";s:2:"no";s:9:"yachtTubs";s:1:"0";s:20:"yachtLocationDetails";s:0:"";s:10:"yachtTerms";s:15:"Caribbean Terms";s:13:"yachtCaptOnly";s:24:"No Captain Only Charters";s:15:"yachtSpecialCon";s:0:"";s:14:"yachtContracts";s:0:"";s:21:"yachtConsumptionUnits";s:10:"US Gall/Hr";s:10:"yachtRange";s:0:"";s:11:"yachtPermit";s:1:"1";s:12:"yachtLicense";s:1:"1";s:8:"yachtMca";s:1:"0";s:16:"yachtDeepSeaFish";s:0:"";s:10:"yachtSatTv";s:1:"0";s:9:"yachtIpod";s:0:"";s:10:"yachtVideo";s:0:"";s:17:"yachtSailInstruct";s:0:"";s:13:"yachtInternet";s:12:"Onboard WIFI";s:16:"yachtCaptainOnly";s:24:"No Captain Only Charters";s:16:"yachtBrokerNotes";s:0:"";s:10:"yachtNumGC";i:4;s:13:"yachtGC1Title";s:27:"Truly the best of the best!";s:8:"yachtGC1";s:277:"What can I say other than: wow! What to expect from the 2024 solar eclipse in Virginia, according to NASA expert

E xcitement continues to build ahead of the solar eclipse on Monday that many will be able to experience in the United States, including in Virginia — at least partially.

Although a narrow band of cities will experience totality, many will still get to see a partial eclipse on April 8. NASA's 2024 eclipse map shows the totality path, or "umbra," spans in a northeasterly direction from southern Texas through parts of the Midwest and northeastern parts of the country.

Meanwhile, Virginia will be in the "penumbra," the larger but partial shadow from the eclipse. Virginia Beach will get 77.9% coverage while Norfolk will get 78.8%, according to the NASA eclipse map .

Fortunately, the weather in Hampton Roads on Monday is forecasted to be mostly sunny — making for good eclipse-viewing conditions.

13News Now Meteorologist Craig Moeller talked with NASA's Dr. Georgia de Nolfo about the April 8 solar eclipse. Here's what she had to say about the phenomenon.

What is a solar eclipse?

"You basically have the moon coming in between the sun and the Earth, and it'll block out the majority of light coming from the sun. As a result, it will cast a shadow on the Earth," explained Dr. de Nolfo.

What will you see during the solar eclipse?

"In Virginia, you'll be able to see a partial eclipse, about 78% of the sun will be covered. So, what it will look like is a crescent-shaped in the sky. But if you're lucky enough to drive into the path of totality, then you'll actually be able to block out more of the light. And as a result, we'll be able to see the very faint atmosphere of the sun which scientists call the corona."

Do you need to wear glasses to view the eclipse?

Spectators are advised to wear solar eclipse glasses whether you're viewing a partial or total solar eclipse

"You do want to be safe whenever you look at the sun in eclipse conditions," said Dr. de Nolfo. "So, take advantage of these solar eclipse glasses or solar viewing glasses. There's international standards for those. You definitely want to wear those when you're viewing the [partial eclipse]."

"The only time that you can actually view without those glasses is during totality," she said, adding that "the rest of the time you really wanna wear those glasses."

RELATED: 2024 total solar eclipse: Making pinhole projectors

Dr. de Nolfo said you can also view the sun indirectly using what's called pinhole projectors.

"You can do that with a piece of paper, poke a little hole into it, and then project the sun onto a surface," she explained.

She recalled using a similar method for a past eclipse.

"I actually was in a partial eclipse, and I found that using the trees as pinhole projectors. Using those leaves was absolutely amazing because then you see the ground covered in crescent shapes, and it's just beautiful."

Will the April 8, 2024, solar eclipse be similar to the one in 2017?

This is the first time in seven years since the U.S. has seen a cosmic event on this scale. However, Monday's eclipse is expected to be larger and longer than the one experienced in 2017.

"Because we're going to be in conditions that were very different than in 2017, we're now entering into conditions where the sun is very active. And so the opportunities to see structure in that atmosphere, maybe even some eruptions occurring during that atmosphere, I mean that is thrilling to me just to be able to witness that," said Dr. de Nolfo.

RELATED: April's solar eclipse won't be the same as 2017. Here's why

What are some exciting elements expected during the eclipse?

"I mean, honestly every phase is really exciting," said Dr. de Nolfo. "So, as that moon is moving across the sun and you start to see those Baily's Beads , you're really just seeing the sunlight peeking through the different topology of the moon. I mean, it's just such a neat thought, right to think about how the sun is getting through in the valleys and is being blocked by the mountains."

She added: "Actually looking at those Baily's Beads and how they change from what we expect because we actually know the moon's topology really, really well from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. And so if we can see that there are some differences from what we expect, then that actually tells us about the shape of the sun. So there's some real physics to be gleaned from that. But then as you move into totality, then you actually see the very, very faint atmosphere of the sun."

NOTE TO U.S. CUSTOMS & BORDER PROTECTION

Due to the international and fluid nature of the yachting business and the fact there is no global central industry listing service to which all charter yachts subscribe it is impossible to ascertain a truly up-to-date view of the market. We are a news and information service and not always informed when yachts leave the charter market, or when they are recently sold and renamed it is not clear if they are still for charter. Whilst we use our best endeavors to maintain accurate information, the existence of a listing on this website should in no way supersede official documentation supplied by representatives of a yacht.
