New Orleans Day Jazz Cruise on the Steamboat Natchez

The Steamboat Natchez is thought to be the only remaining authentic steamboat left in New Orleans. Built in 1975 and occasionally requiring some upkeep, this stunning vessel is an impressive relic of a bygone era of Mississippi travel. Guests on these two-hour steamboat cruises, which usually depart daily at 11:30am, can also visit the impressive engine room, which is like a working museum piece. New Orleans Creole Queen History Cruise

The Creole Queen is another pretty paddleboat that regularly plies the waters of the Mississippi from New Orleans. This beautiful white vessel, with yellow and blue fringe, elegant balustrades and a red paddlewheel, runs tours along the river to Chalmette Battlefield. It was here that the Battle of New Orleans took place in 1815 between the British and United States’ armies. Mississippi, a Chippewa Indian word that means “large river” is the life force that has shaped New Orleans history forever, defining and literally shaping the city into its famous Crescent outline. The best way to see what Mark Twain was talking about is to take a paddleboat tour along the hard working river, and travel back to the days when steam-driven river paddle wheelers were the main source of both transportation and commerce. The Steamboat Natchez cannot currently accommodate requests for gluten-free or Kosher meals.

Most of their food also has some form of dairy in it – whether that be cheese, butter or milk – so vegan customers might have some trouble finding something they are comfortable eating on the menu.

Because of this, the Steamboat Natchez allows passengers to bring their own snacks aboard.

Overall ratings for this excursion are pretty good . The majority of guests enjoyed their dining and most customers were very impressed with the live jazz band.

All cruises begin and end at the Gray Line “Lighthouse” ticket office at 400 Toulouse St. and the Mighty Mississippi River (at the Steamboat Natchez Dock), just one block from Jackson Square in the French Quarter.

Several reviewers felt that the music was wonderful . Quite a few guests were also happy with the food quality, indicating that their dining was very tasty.

Most guests leave excellent feedback stating that they loved this musical trip on the Natchez.

Some reviewers have even described their band as “magnificent,” suggesting that the onboard music was absolutely wonderful.

There are some visitors who don’t enjoy the tour portion of this cruise, but most people don’t have any complaints.

The Sullivan Dabney Jr. and the Muzik Jazz Band is known for performing all over NOLA during events such as the French Quarter Festival and the Jazz & Heritage Festival.

This group has become something of a local legend, as they can frequently be seen and heard at various locations throughout the city.

If you’re not too concerned about getting something to eat while you’re taking a NOLA cruise, there are several dining options to consider.

First and foremost, it’s important to note that each of the lunch and dinner cruises listed above is also available without a meal.

In fact, at least with the Steamboat Natchez, you can bring your own food onboard or purchase small snacks and sandwiches in lieu of the organized meal.

You can also see the city from the water by taking the Algiers Point Ferry across the Mighty Mississippi River.

You may have seen riverboat gambling ships or are at least familiar with riverboat gambling along U.S. waterways. However, while high rolling on the river sounds like an exciting way to spend a night (or two, or more) while on your riverboat cruise, you'll have to jump ship to play the slots, roll the dice, spin the wheel or play a hand of Texas Hold 'em. Gambling on cruise ships sailing on internal waters is prohibited by U.S. law.

Gambling on boats in the U.S. is a complicated matter.
