Make Functional Boats in The Sims 4 with this Innovative Build Hack

We’ll be rowing boats before driving cars in this game, I guess.

We can all agree that the Sims 4 has a controversial *transportation* problem. Even if we got jet skis and canoes from Island Living , bicycles from Discover University , and even horses from the Horse Ranch pack , we still. WANT. CARS.

But we don’t talk about boats much, do we? Similar with cars, they’re still a decorative object in the debug menu. Until today! With this nifty build hack, you can make your own functional boats without the help of mods or CC.

Before anything, ensure that bb.moveobjects is on.

Step 1: laying out the foundation.

Start off by making a sizable pond in your lot with terrain tools. Check out this tutorial to learn how.Build a room near the pond and add a 2nd floor on top of it. Delete the room below and the walls of the 2nd floor. Don’t forget to remove its ceiling too!

Adjust the height of the room on the 2nd floor to be closer to the ground by using the white foundation slider in the middle. Then move it it towards the pond by using the room arrow sliders one by one. Once it’s hovering above the pond, lower it down again with the white foundation slider until it’s at the water level.

To blend this floor with the pond, change the flooring to wood or to any brown tile. Also, add this inlaid exterior trim around it.

Step 2: Terrain manipulation

Now comes the part to make this boat functional – terrain tools! Toggle the yellow grid view by clicking ‘G’ to guide you in the next steps.

Choose ‘Flatten to Height’ and level out the surrounding land to the normal terrain height. Then, click Ctrl+[ four times to lower the terrain height setting. Click on the area surrounding the room that you placed to flatten it at the set height. After that, add stairs connecting the room to the lowered terrain.

Next is to smoothen the terrain to connect the lowered terrain to the normal height terrain. This will make a path that your Sims can access.

Step 3: Add the functional boats shell

To get the boat, type Ctrl+Shift+C to open the cheats bar. Type in ‘testingcheats on’ first. Then, enter bb.showhiddenobjects and bb.showliveeditobjects consecutively. To close the cheat bar, click Ctrl+Shift+C again.

In the search bar, search for ‘**DEBUG**’ and filter for Base Game. Look for this boat item.

Place the boat on the floor below and NOT on the same level with the 2nd room floor. Click Ctrl+9 to elevate it until it reaches the floor above.

Add any bench (preferably with a brown wooden swatch) on the 2nd floor. Size it down to its smallest size using the ‘]’ key and hold down Alt to place it just right by the boat seat. Make sure to leave a small part of the seat visible so you can click on it during gameplay.

Try to play test it and it should work like a charm!

Lastly, decorate the pond. Paint the terrain with a muddy brown swatch. Add natural foliage around the boat. You can also cover the stairs with a plant to make it less obvious.

Add pond animals especially fireflies to set the mood. If you own My Wedding Stories and City Living , add these gorgeous pond lights to make it even more whimsical.

And there you have it! A boat that your Sims can sit and nap on by the lake.

Bonus Step: More activities in The Sims 4 functional boats!

Feel like sitting and pretending to row your boat is too basic? Try adding a telescope from Base Game or Werewolves and you can spend the evening stargazing in the lake.

Or add an easel to paint a landscape of your surroundings!

You can even add a picnic table in the functional boats! Include a picnic basket from Cottage Living too.

To blend in the table, search for ‘Wooden Plank Decorative’ from the debug menu. Go down 1 floor and elevate it using Ctrl+9 until it reaches the table height. Line them up by holding Alt to place four planks side by side.

Next, size down the picnic table with ‘[‘ . Go down 1 floor again and use a wooden object to cover the table. Here we’re using a stool from debug, pretending that it’s a stem which supports the wooden planks.

Extend the floor to make the other side of the table accessible. Do this by adding a 3×1 platform beside the room. DON’T use the room sliders because it will move the other objects you just placed!

Go down 1 floor again and cover the extended floor with moss or lilies.

And that should do it! Have your Sims eat a romantic dinner or family brunch in the lake.

Superyachts FAQ

Learn how to build and live in your own luxury superyacht, the sims freeplay.

In our latest update, we’re excited to introduce our brand new 3-story Superyacht called the ‘Fantasea’! As with our first yacht the ‘Bella’, the ‘Fantasea’ will allow your Sims to live out the lifestyles of the rich and famous aboard the yacht style residential lot, this time in the beautiful waters of the Mysterious Island! Inspired by the Downtown Developer  events, you’ll need to complete the tasks for the ‘Fantasea’ within the 30-day time limit to receive the glamorous template. It comes complete with luxurious black and gold styling, modern underlit yacht style seating, and a matching black and gold helicopter – a must for any wealthy sim!

To help make sure you can hit the ground running, our game team have put together this short FAQ. 

Q – What is Superyachts?

A – It’s a feature in The Sims FreePlay that allows your Sims to become a Superyachts superstar! By collecting Resources over 30 days, your Sims can collect prizes to ultimately unlock one of our two glamorous 3-story superyachts for your Sims to live in and style as their own. Our first yacht is on the waters of SimTown and is called the ‘Bella’, and our newest yacht is floating just off shore on the Mysterious Island and is called the ‘Fantasea’.

Q – How do I start Superyachts and how long do I have to complete it?

A – Before you begin the newest yacht quest, reach level 42, unlock the Mysterious Island [ The Sims Freeplay- The Mysterious Island Quest – The Girl Who Games ], and finish building our first yacht – the ‘Bella’. This will unlock the pier that the 'Fantasea’ is situated at. From there, find the newly marked yacht icon to start building!

Completing Superyachts without incurring any penalties, and winning the final limited time prize,  takes 30 days. You can actually take as long as you want to complete the event, however there are Major Stage Deadlines. If you do not reach a deadline before the timer expires, there is a cost to continue. However, the next deadline timer doesn’t start until you pay the cost, so it’s easy to catch up, try again, and win the 3-story luxury boat!

If you run out of time but still complete the event, you’ll receive the yacht prize - however just as a bare ship! It will be empty and ready to style however you want for your Sims to live in their new floating palace. 

Q – There are two Superyacht berths available to build, tell me about the details of each?

-          Located in the waters of SimTown

-          Start from Player Level 40

-          Modern white ship with three levels to enjoy, including a gym, roof top spa and lounge area, extra large bedrooms, spiral staircases and more.

-          Grand prize includes the ability to place indoor lighting and decorations under balconies

The Fantasea

-          Located on Mystery Island, left of the bridge - you’ll need to complete the ‘Mysterious Island Quest’ to access this Superyacht!  

-          Available from Player Level 42, but the ‘Bella’ Superyacht event must be completed first

-          Sleek black and gold design with three levels of open plan luxury living including a stylish bar, beautifully appointed cabins, an elegant dining space, and a helipad on the top deck.

-          Limited time prize includes two new helicopters to decorate with - a black one and a white one - as well as exclusive yacht style build mode items.

Q – Where is the Superyachts event menu?

A – The Superyachts menu is accessed via the Active Tasks menu, or via tapping the Superyachts menu icon in the waters where you’re building your yacht – for the ‘Bella’ that’s near the lighthouse in SimTown, and for the ‘Fantasea’ it’s by the bridge on the Mysterious Island.

Q – What’s the bar at the top of the Superyacht menu?

A – That’s the progress bar. It shows your Sim’s progress through the event towards milestone prizes and earning the new yacht!

Q - How do I progress through Superyachts?

A - To progress, your Sims need to collect Resources. Resources are made up of Shards, which up to three Sims can collect each day. The materials are wood, fiberglass and metal, and can be found at various unlocked Community Lots, including the Community Centre, Nightclub and the Park.

As your Sims collects more Resources, they get closer and closer to finishing their development and earning their 3-story yacht!

Be careful though, incomplete Resources are lost at the end of the day! The available Resource changes each day, so collect as many Shards as you can to complete Resources before the day is over.

Q - I have collected all of today's available Shards, but I seem to be blocked and can’t progress to the next day’s Resource.

A – That's correct! There are milestone prizes along the way, but you have to wait until the next day to continue your progress with the Superyachts event unless you purchase a the resource permit early.

Q - Oh no! I’m falling behind - what can I do?

A - There's a few options - Be sure to be diligent with checking in on your Sims and collecting shards as soon as they're discovered! Otherwise, you can use Social Points to collect the remaining resources for any given stage.

  Q - Who is Satsuki the Shipwright and what benefit is there to hiring her? 

A - Satsuki is an non playable character that helps you in your hunt for Resources by uncovering additional Shards every day! With her help, it's easier to build your boat and hit those milestone goals along the way. Once she is unlocked, Satsuki will assist you for up to 45 days, or until you complete the Superyachts event.

Q – Are there any milestone rewards in between the major milestone unlocks?

A - Yes! Along the event timeline you’ll notice a range of different prizes available as you progress. This includes exclusive build mode decor to style your yacht (or anywhere else!), Simoleons and LP. 

Q – What are the details about the Grand Prize?

A - By reaching the end of the event, you get given Simoleons and an empty ‘Fantasea’ superyacht!

Q – What are the details about the Limited Time Prize? 

A - If you complete the event within the time limit, you can earn the ‘Fantasea’ superyacht, completely furnished with three levels of open plan luxury living including a stylish bar, beautifully appointed cabins, an elegant dining space, and a helipad on the top deck. Your Sims can even swim in the ocean next to the boat. You also get modern underlit seating and a matching bar to place wherever you want. 

Q - If I run out of time to unlock the Limited Time Prize, what happens?

A - Never fear, Simmers! You can still receive the empty luxury boat to build on - it just comes unfurnished ready for your next dream build.

Sims 4 houseboat build is the perfect home for sulani.

A fan of The Sims 4 managed to perfectly capture and reflect the atmosphere of living on a tropical island by building an adorable houseboat.

A fan of The Sims 4 might’ve created the perfect home for the game’s Sulani map - a houseboat that peacefully resides on the coast of one of the islands. It’s quite common for The Sims 4 players to create adorable houses that not only serve the purpose of being homes for in-game characters but also look as if they emerged straight from a fairy tale.

One of the recent examples of a charmingly magical build in The Sims 4 is a Studio Ghibli-inspired tiny house constructed in the game by a different fan. It turned out to be so majestic that the creator was praised by developers for such a perfect rendition of Miyazaki’s animation style. It’s not an exact copy of any particular house that was present in the Japanese master’s cartoons, but rather a general representation of Studio Ghibli’s design approach. Additionally, the build has small details that add to the overall enchanting atmosphere.

A lovely build that fits its environment well has been introduced by a Reddit user named fluffy79g on The Sims 4 subreddit in the form of a compact yet thoroughly designed houseboat. The build resides on an island’s coast located in one of the most beautiful game maps, Sulani. It is a gorgeous tropical archipelago that was added to The Sims 4 three years ago with the Island Living expansion pack . While the house is indeed tiny, it still provides all the crucial activities for a sim that is about to live a dream life in paradise. The process of building the houseboat is showcased in a dedicated video by fab flubs on YouTube. On top of that, the creator promised to share a download link, which will come in handy since Reddit users have already requested the project on The Sims 4 Gallery.

Although The Sims 4 looks like a harmless cartoonish world, the game can be turned into a nightmare with enough dedication. One ingenious player decided to create a toilet-shaped house in The Sims 4 for the sole purpose of utilizing it as a deadly trap for in-game characters. According to the provided images, the unlikely trap works as intended, as at least one sim drowned in the toilet’s massive swimming pool bowl.

While fluffy79g’s houseboat is a small, relatively simple project - unlike the massive mansions that seem to be the focus of The Sims 4 building guides - it looks amazing. The main reason for that is attention to detail that turns the simple idea into a gorgeously designed structure. The surrounding environment also makes an indirect contribution to the overall beauty of the build, since it’s more advantageous to create a lovely houseboat on a tropical island rather than in a busy town’s harbor.
