Coast Guard crews responded to the sinking of a fishing vessel.

Florida Dr. Scott Anthony Burke, the 69-year-old yachtsman who police say they busted with more than 40 grams of cocaine and 14 grams of ketamine last week, was holding a party on board a boat last week as he faces terminal cancer, according to his lawyer.

"To have this man potentially spend the rest of his life waiting for a case in jail, to me, would be very, very tragic," the lawyer said, in reference to his client's illness.

Burke is facing drug and gun charges after police boarded his vessel last week in response to a report of a woman possibly overdosing. In the bedroom with the woman, they found cocaine and a pistol, and a search warrant allegedly turned up a substantial amount of drugs and another gun which the doctor didn't have a license for. 

His attorney Henry Brennan told the Nantucket Current that additional allegations from an anonymous law enforcement source that prostitutes were on board is "disgusting" slander.

The woman on board was a friend of Burke's hired captain, Brennan told the paper, and a staff member.

"There was a party on the boat, and [Burke] was spending time with friends," he said. "As we suggested, the boat is large. He has a captain. He has staff. There was a cook. And sometimes there are people who serve as staff waiters, cleaners and things like that."

Police responded to Burke's boat, the Jess Conn, last Tuesday after an unidentified reporting party called their non-emergency dispatch line. Burke's 80-foot Nordhavn trawler has been visible in Nantucket Harbor for days after his arrest.

When first responders arrived in the master bedroom to look at the victim, they spotted a bag of cocaine on the nightstand and a loaded pistol on a bookshelf, according to the incident report.

After obtaining a search warrant, police went back and say they recovered 43.4 grams of cocaine and 14.1 grams of ketamine.

Neither Burke nor his attorney could immediately be reached for comment.

The doctor was one of the first international doctors to reach Haiti in 2010 following a devastating earthquake and performed more than 100 surgeries there, his lawyer told the judge at his bail hearing, according to the Current.

A source close to the investigation reportedly told the Nantucket Current that authorities also encountered prostitutes on board, but police have not confirmed that claim, and court records do not show any prostitution-related charges against Burke.

"That's certainly not in my press release," Lt. Angus MacVicar, the Nantucket Police Department's public information officer, told Fox News Digital.

Burke allegedly told police he had a license for the handguns — but police said his Florida license was not only invalid in Massachusetts, it expired last year. He now faces a dozen gun and drug charges and was released on $200,000 bail.

Public records show Burke obtained his medical license in Colorado in 1981. It was last renewed in 2019. He has owned at least two other large vessels over the years, 90 and 58 feet long, also named Jess Conn. 

According to his LinkedIn profile, Burke also founded a medical lien service firm called Injury Finance in 2003 and as a physician specialized in spine rehab and pain. His bio said he retired from active medical practice.

The investigation remains ongoing, but police declined to comment on potential additional charges.

Catfight erupted inside party doc Scott Burke’s luxury yacht before he was arrested for drugs, prostitutes and guns

A heated catfight exploded just before cops arrested a retired doctor on his luxury yacht docked in Nantucket — following reports that a woman had possibly overdosed onboard.

Scott Anthony Burke, 69, was slapped with drug-trafficking and weapons charges after officers found cocaine, ketamine and prostitutes on board his 82-foot yacht, the Jess Conn, while it was in Nantucket Harbor.

Cops initially responded to a call from a woman who said she was overdosing and wanted to get off Burke’s party yacht.

Residents said a fight erupted between two women right before authorities got to the vessel.

“These two women were screaming at each other,” a local told The Post.

“I think how the police might’ve gotten involved was … not only was the woman being checked out for drug stuff, but there was a screaming match that evidently occurred between a woman on the harbor master’s boat and the launch boat that was either bringing the person back or taking the person to,” they added.

Law enforcement officials received a call just before 8 a.m. that a woman on board the Jess Conn was “in need of medical assistance,” police said in a statement on Wednesday.

The woman “did not want to be there, was under the influence of narcotics and possibly [had] overdosed,” according to a police report.

The police report also said the woman was found in Burke’s bedroom on the luxury boat. Prostitutes also were found on the vessel, according to the Nantucket Current .

Burke told officers he was the owner of the boat and he had a license to carry firearms. However, cops determined Burke’s was only licensed to carry in Florida and it had expired in September 2022.

He pleaded not guilty when he appeared at the Plymouth District Court for his arraignment Wednesday.

Investigators found more than 43 grams of cocaine, about 14 grams of ketamine, two handguns and other ammunition in the main floor bedroom of the yacht, the Boston Globe reported .

Burke, who practiced in Colorado before retiring in 2021, now lives in an ultra-exclusive Key Largo, Florida, enclave that features the Ocean Reef private club, which is known for its strict privacy policy.

“They have more money than freaking God out there and they act like they can do whatever they want,” a longtime resident told The Post Friday.

Burke founded Denver Spine and Rehab and was the CEO of Injury Finance, LLC., a company providing medical lien services for third-party liability claims.

Nantucket residents on Friday said while luxury yachts docking in its harbor is not uncommon, the amount of drugs and firearms found on the retired doctor’s boat was alarming.

“I mean there are certainly people who have party boats that bring in craziness,” one said. “The gun side is the most disturbing part, I think. There is no need for that.”

If the party will include the boat leaving the dock, then advise your guests about the golden rule of remaining upright: one hand for you, one hand for the boat. Yes, you can carry a plate of hors d’oeuvres or a cocktail in one hand, but whenever the boat moves, you always want one hand free to grab a rail, a handhold, or anything else you might need to steady yourself. Helping new boaters stay safe underway should be priority one!

In terms of hosting, think about serving a steady array of finger foods instead of a big, sit-down meal. The little stuff is easier to store and cook quickly, and it’s a better option to offer people a variety of foods if the boat is moving since some people may be a bit more sensitive than others.

Attempted to schedule more than a month in advance with their limited availability disclosed online, and was given the most passive aggressive emails (and texts) one after another - just to know their availability. With every email exchange, most of my questions were never answered. Despite this, I ended up wanting to know the availability of their largest boat and I was refused to know! Monika explicitly responded with "I dont know what you don't understand about that fact that everything besides what is on the contract is sold out.... Sent from my T-Mobile" Well, sorry I asked. **Please save your money and go find something on Boatsetter, unless you want to drop thousands of dollars for an unprofessional experience.**

Absolutely the worst experience I've had in Chicago! We booked the stray kat for a friends birthday. We had confirmed out booking three days prior to departure. Our deposits were paid on time, guests traveled in from out of state (getting tested before for Covid) and then were told at the dock that our reservation had been double booked, and would not be getting on the boat. Zero apology, zero empathy, and down right rude behavior. Our coolers with food were removed from the dock and dropped at the bus stop; we were literally escorted off the dock all while we were trying to call Ubers/lyfts to get home. Do not plan events through this company or you and 35 of your closest friends will be left high and literally dry.

I rented the 40 ft yacht from this company, making the reservation was really easy Monika is great I had to change the date and time and she was able to do that without a problem. I rented the yacht for a surprise party the captain contacted me a day before and I was able to explain to him that I wanted to surprise my boyfriend with his family on the yacht and he was able to help me with that, the yacht was very clean. we had a great view of the Saturday night navy pier fireworks, we had an amazing time. I'm renting the same yacht in August again. I definitely recommend renting from them. You won't regret it.

I planned a birthday party for my husband through Chicago Yacht Rental. Everyone was so amazing! The process was super simple. It was just an email and then a contract via email. You make a deposit and you are set. I was shocked at the simplicity. The price never changed and Monica and Natalia are wonderful. We were able to bring our own food. And we chose the open bar which was so good. They have a great sound system on the boat connected via Bluetooth. The boat is at the end of the dock so you want to drive all the way to the back and hop on. We were able to settle our bill right away and enjoy our trip. Sebastian was wonderful and friendly. The captain was great as well. My only regret was not getting more time. It was such a great experience. I can't wait to go back.

Stray Kat doesn't deserve even 1 Star. Don't trust them, they double book and don't give you your money back. Not sure how they stay in business with this awful customer service and corruption.

Where does one begin? I guess I should start 4 months ago when we booked the Stray Cat for a birthday party. When Covid was announced and quarantining, they seemed very unconcerned so we confirmed we would still be holding onto our reservation. Fast forward to this weekend. After continuous communication with the company, confirming time/date/location of the boat as well as number of guests allowed on the boat, we showed up only to find out they double booked us and the other party would be allowed onto the boat. Where does this leave us? Out of a $1000 deposit and on the south side of Chicago having to transport ourselves back. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Please take your business elsewhere.

Very disappointed they overbooked our reservation then wouldn't give us a refund. Not professional and over priced. Will not be using this charter service again.

We had an AMAZING experience! Monica and Captain Robert took such great care of us! They were extremely professional and organized, but also super fun and laid back! Everyone had a great time cruising, swimming, floating, dancing, and being served beverages in such style! We went out for my bachelorette party, but it was so awesome, that we all want to make it a yearly adventure! Captain Robert took spectacular drone footage of us and that was just the icing on the cake and a really nice keepsake of our day! Thanks, guys

Captain Robert was EXTREMELY rude to me and all the guests I brought with me. He yanked things out of my hands and locked them in a different part of the boat, said we were allowed to swim but if anyone gets anything wet they will turn the boat around, we set it as BYOB for everyone to drink what they want and he stood next to everything monitoring our own alcohol and drinks. I even tried to apologize for upsetting him in any way since that was not the goal/ I didn't know what any of us did wrong and he was even MORE RUDE to me. NONE Of his "rules" he was coming up with on the spot were anywhere in contract/ Everyone on the boat cleaned everything they had and was nothing but respectful. I have rented with other companies and have not been treated so badly, wouldn't recommend this. He needs to take a note on how to treat people with kindness and respect, especially when working. The only positive was that it was a nice day and that Natalia on the crew. I even budgeted everyone for a 20% tip but absolutely did not give it bc of him and sent money back to my friends.

Reserved a 30 passenger boat months in advance. They cancelled 4 days before. Unreliable. Sounds like a frequent issue

Several bikini-clad women were pictured sunning themselves on the luxury party yacht belonging to a terminally ill retired doctor — who was recently busted with drugs, guns and prostitutes on board.

The 80-foot pleasure boat, dubbed the Jess Conn, was toured by a group while moored in a private Annapolis, Maryland yacht club Saturday, exclusive pictures obtained by The Post show.

Several men and two women in bathing suits were seen aboard checking out the impressive boat, believed to be worth $7.5 million.

One of the women was photographed smoking a cigarette and drinking out of a paper cup on one of its decks as she soaked up the sun next to a Vespa and rowboat.

A small group of men, one of whom donned a “Malibu Beach Patrol” tank top, and a fully clothed woman were also seen carousing aboard the Jess Conn.

Embattled owner Scott Burke is now selling the boat after posting $200,000 bail on multiple charges for weapons and drug trafficking, according to the Nantucket Current.

Burke, 69, of Colorado, was busted earlier this month after police got word of an overdosing woman who did not feel safe on the boat during a wild party in the waters of Nantucket.

The woman had shared her concerns with a male friend on a FaceTime call, and the friend called the cops on Sept. 5, according to the outlet.

Police found several sex workers aboard, along with 43 grams of cocaine, 14 grams of ketamine, a .380 pistol, three 30-round 9mm magazines, a 12-round magazine in a 9mm pistol and multiple rounds of ammo on the floor, according to a police report.

“They were doing drugs all weekend long and people on the boat had been making pornographic films,” the report said.

A screaming match between two women broke out during the police raid, and the woman who expressed safety concerns was given medical attention as the Denver Spine and Rehab founder and CEO of Injury Finance, LLC was marched off the boat in handcuffs.

In the aftermath of the wild party, the yacht was covered in dog feces, as well as trash, a crew member hired to clean up the disaster told the Nantucket Current.

“It was just a mess,” the source said. “It looked like someone stopped the party in the middle of it.”

At a Sept. 7 hearing, Burke’s attorney revealed that his client  is suffering from stage 4 cancer as he successfully pleaded for a judge to grant him bail.

“To have this man potentially spend the rest of his life waiting for a case in jail, to me, would be very, very tragic,” said lawyer Henry Brennan.

The senior citizen, who is married with two children whom the boat is named after, pleaded not guilty to all charges and was said to be headed to his exclusive Florida home to spend time with his family.

My fiancé and I hosted our engagement party on the Blue Goose Party Boat with a slide via Sam’s Dock at Eagle Point Marina. The boat has a capacity up to 50 people, and it was a ton of fun with a helpful crew!

We booked a party boat for a corporate team-building event and we had a blast! Captain Ben was awesome, very friendly and funny, and kept us safe and informed. The boat was clean and well-kept and Lake Grapevine is absolutely gorgeous! Would definitely recommend!

But if you’re thinking of setting sail on open waters for a wedding ceremony, reception, or both, some additional, specific planning is required.

Planning for a wedding on the water not only means working within the restraints of the specific vessel you want, but it also means taking Mother Nature and changing weather conditions into consideration. Here, we consult expert planners to learn tips, tricks, and the most important things to consider before you set sail and tie the knot.

Consider Time, Location, and Weather

Whether you’re choosing to charter a boat, planning a yacht party, or hosting a wedding reception on a cruise ship, time, location, and weather are important factors to consider. “Weather can have a huge impact on a waterfront or boating event and can change the guest experience and comforts quickly,” says Nick and Aleah Valley, owners of Valley & Company Events .

In your planning, be sure to check on where you’ll be leaving from and what the weather may look like that day. “Many coastal areas have zones where gale force winds can appear quickly and unexpectedly. Having a backup plan for wind and chilly temperatures is imperative,” adds the Valleys. “If it's too windy, some boats or yachts can't sail, which could mean your event is docked or canceled completely until conditions improve.”

Boat Options for Getting Married on the Water

Getting married on a boat can come in a variety of different shapes and sizes. Depending on your guest list and wedding vision, one option may be better than the others. Pricing will vary greatly, depending on the size of the boat, the style, and the region where you’re booking. Yacht and charter boat weddings may only require a fee for use of the vessel, while a cruise ship wedding requires paying for the cruise , along with fees specific to your wedding.

Tips for Yacht Weddings

A wedding reception on a yacht provides the ultimate view for a great celebration! You can choose to either host your ceremony elsewhere and then board the boat, or plan for both your ceremony and reception on the water.

To find the ideal yacht for your wedding, think about guest list size first. “Keep in mind that many states have maritime regulations prohibiting the rental of yachts for events or guest counts past a certain number,” says Nick and Aleah Valley. “Contacting the local maritime office is a good place to start for suggestions on how to charter a yacht. They may have recommendations for finding a yacht unless you have your own or have a connection to one.”

Once you know that your guest list count is in line with area regulations for a yacht, it’s crucial to consider space to guest ratio as well. Are there enough restrooms to accommodate your group? Is there enough elbow room to allow for a great guest experience?

You’ll also want to check if the yacht has appropriate kitchen facilities for your culinary team to create the perfect menu for your reception, along with space for other necessary rentals.

Tips for Charter Boat Weddings

If you’re hoping to charter a boat for your wedding, keeping size in mind is crucial here, too. Be sure to choose a boat that can accommodate your guest list and your specific needs. It's also important to double-check that the boat you plan to charter will fit the aesthetic and type of reception you're hoping for.

If you’re chartering a boat, insurance will also be required. “Talk to your insurance carrier about your personal policy and what the needs are to cover the event, the boat owner, and your guests,” says Nick and Aleah Valley.

It’s also important to consider the timing when chartering a boat. “Most charter boats have a very specific timeframe for when they can depart a port or marina, whether it's based on tides, locks, or marina rules, so this can dictate your event timeline,” says Nick and Aleah Valley. They suggest building a buffer into your day-of timeline so guests arrive and board the boat at least 45 minutes before your scheduled departure time. This will give guests time to get settled on the boat, and you can welcome them with happy hour drinks and snacks to kick off the celebration.

Tips for Cruise Weddings

Planning a ceremony or a wedding reception on a cruise ship means you’re on a much bigger boat. Typically, that also means there may be other guests onboard that aren’t part of your wedding. If privacy is important to you, be sure to ask the cruise ship’s planning team what your ceremony or reception space will look like, and what your options are for keeping it private.

Depending on the cruise, you may not be able to get married on open water at all. Legally, you may be required to choose to either celebrate your nuptials before the ship departs, or you can choose to say “I do” at the port of one of the cruise’s destinations. Working with the right planner will ensure you’re following the proper legal guidance for a cruise wedding or cruise wedding reception.

“Keep in mind the guest experience and the logistics of what can take place on a cruise,” suggests Nick and Aleah Valley. It’s important to check if you can have events at your leisure, or if you will have to stick to the cruise ship’s strict timeline and events.

How to Keep Guests Comfortable on the Water

While a boat wedding may be dreamy for you and your partner, especially if you’re used to being on the water, it may be tricky for some of your guests.

“ Seasickness can happen quickly, especially when guests are drinking,” says Nick and Aleah Valley. “Have a solid plan, and if you have an opportunity, pass out seasickness patches to your guests the day before your event so they can be prepared for being on the boat.”

Consider putting together welcome bags that might include bug spray, water bottles, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Another helpful option? Put out a big basket of hats and fans, along with a well-stocked station of snacks and water. It’s important that guests stay hydrated to avoid heat exhaustion.  

Questions to Ask Before Booking a Boat for Your Wedding

• Will there be enough space for our guest list?
• Is there air conditioning on board?
• Is there a maintenance crew that can assist with potential mechanical issues?
• What is the galley kitchen’s capacity for creating a meal?
• Is there a refrigerated place to store our cake? Will it fit?
• Can we incorporate our own décor?
• How many life preservers are on board?
• Is there a specific timeline we need to follow?
• What insurance is required for use?
