There are many elements to consider if you are planning to host a birthday party on a yacht. Below is a list of things to consider when you’re playing host for someone else’s big day, or planning your own party:

  • Location Picking the right location for your party is key. What kind of scenery do you prefer? For example beaches, or a cityscape. Are water activities a priority? Is there a particular location that offers things to do beyond the yacht charter (an island to visit, a restaurant to dine in, etc.)?
  • Weather Optimal weather is a factor when considering the location. Weather varies depending on the season, so make sure you check your potential destination to make sure you’re not planning a trip during a stormy season! Or, if a little rain doesn’t bother you, opt for a vessel that has plenty of cabin/covered space for you and your guests.
  • Party Theme Do you want to let loose and throw the party of the year? Or is your event to be more of a sophisticated evening with fine dining? Parties come in many shapes and forms and Boataffair can cater to each end of the spectrum.

How many people can fit on a party yacht?

Most of our private yachts are designed to legally carry a maximum of 12 people. This is because a yacht which carries more than 12 people it is considered a 'Passenger ship' and must comply with extensive SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) regulations.

Can you have more than 12 guests on a yacht?

At Boataffair, we do not typically rent out boats for more than 12 people. This is due to Boataffair’s focus on private, premier yachting.

We don't operate as a mass-market service; instead, we reserve our boats for boutique experiences for families, groups of friends, and couples. This is why most of our yachts are limited to 12 people or less.

Additionally, many of our motor yachts are designed to legally carry no more than 12 people, and often overnight stays allow for a maximum of 8-10 people.

You’ll want to keep in mind how many people can fit on a yacht before you start building your guest list. But don't worry, you can have wonderful birthday parties on our yachts with less than 12 people!

Spring signals the start of the yachting season on the Côte d’Azur, with the Cannes Film Festival opening the show. From May, the Riviera lights up as A-list celebrities descend to see and be seen at arguably the most glamorous film festival in the world. On the larger more modern superyachts spa pools are generally a given these days, and although some may be limited to a sun deck jacuzzi, the largest of the charter yachts usually have all manner of water features, ranging from infinity pools with waterfalls, glass-bottomed pools, swim-up bars, and pools with counter currents.

And then you have the real party yachts, with swimming pools that turn into dance floors, and built-in DJ booths for the ultimate occasion aboard. Whether your party is a small and intimate affair or a large, quayside event, most yachts can accommodate up to 12 guests while cruising and hundreds more while berthed alongside, when different rules apply.

However, understated elegance is key, with fewer guests and more quality time to socialise. In fact, 100-120 guests is often considered the tipping point of human intimacy and interaction, so keep this in mind when considering a larger gathering.

Birthday Package Pricing

  • We cannot give a total price quote on birthday packages as it would depend on what the ticket price is at the time you purchase tickets. As it is subject to change, as mentioned above, the total would depend on the price listed on your personalized webpage when you decide to complete your purchase..
  • There are NO additional 'package fees' for a package other than the ticket price (+ processing fees) and the amount of purchased tickets required for each package...but there are Optional upgrade offers at an additional cost should you want to reserve a table with Bottle Service. (optional upgrade info listed below)
  • Email [email protected] for information to reserve a table with bottle service.
  • You Must purchase Admission Tickets. A Reserved Table is a separate option and requires Bottle Service to be paid at the event. Email us to reserve a table in advance.
  • NO REFUNDS! All tickets are non-refundable; if you choose not to celebrate your birthday on the cruise after tickets are purchased, you and/or your guests will not receive a refund. All Sales Are Final!

Package Requirementd

  • Tickets must be purchased; they are NOT reserved. You are NOT guaranteed any number of tickets.
  • Birthday Packages are based on the number of tickets purchased through the personalized webpage link we create & email to your attention.
  • Each package has a minimum number of tickets that must be purchased to receive that package.
  • LESS THAN THE MINIMUM: **You can still reserve a package even if you have less than the minimum number of guests for the entire package as you are automatically eligible for the Personalized Birthday Webpage & Shout Outs. If you do not reach the minimum, you will not receive the remaining features.

Deadline to receive the Birthday Package Features

  • The minimum number of tickets for a package must be purchased before the event is sold out OR by 12pm the day before the event, whichever comes first. Tickets are first come, first serve.
  • You will be notified at this point or when the event is sold out if sooner as to what package you will receive based on the total purchases made through your webpage.
  • Advise your guests not to wait to purchase tickets as all our events are sold out in advance.
  • If tickets are still on sale after 12pm the day before the event you may still purchase tickets, but they will not be tallied towards your total for the birthday package. Any tickets purchased after 12pm the day before the event, if available, will be counted as a general sale & not towards your package. There is no guarantee that tickets will still be available the day before the event as tickets are likely to be sold out before this date.

Birthday Person's Admission

  • You do NOT need to immediately purchase the birthday person's ticket as you will receive a free ticket for the birthday person IF you have at least 20 purchased tickets purchased through your personalized webpage before the final package deadline.
  • If you do not reach this minimum amount by the time the event is listed as sold out OR by 12pm the day before the event on the final package deadline, then you will be emailed a link to purchase the birthday person's ticket at the starting price.
  • This is only available for the birthday person, not other guests. We have the birthday person's ticket on hold to either be sent to you as a free ticket or to send you a link to purchase the ticket, depending on if you receive a package.

Updates on the Attendees that Purchased Tickets for your Birthday

  • Updates are emailed once to twice a week on designated days with an updated list of who has purchased tickets through your webpage to help you keep track of guests. If you do not receive an email for a while, it may be due to no updates on your list. You may email us at [email protected] if you would like to follow up on who has purchased but again, we do send updates once to twice a week.

Reserved Table and Bottle Service for your Birthday

  • This is NOT a sit-down cruise...This is a Dance Cruise!
  • If you would like a Table Reservation with Bottle Service, email us at [email protected]
  • We will email you a list of bottles prices & packages and you can reply to confirm you want a table reservation. Once you arrive, you can let the door staff know you have a table reservation and you can provide them with the full name on the reservation. You will still need to purchase tickets for admission.
  • Reserved Tables DO NOT have seating for your entire party at one time, but everyone in your group will have access to your table all night AND will have access to all levels of the yacht all night.
  • Guests may NOT bring their own food or bottles/beverages.
  • If you are looking for an event with seating for all of your guests, then we suggest chartering a private cruise as the open-to-the-public cruises associated with these birthday packages are not meant to have multiple tables or seating for every guest in attendance…this is a Dance Cruise, not a sit-down dinner type of cruise.

Depending on the location and the time of year it is possible to see humpback whales, blue whales (summer to fall), grey whales (winter to spring), minke whales, bottlenose Dolphins, seals, sea lions, pelicans, and more.

Can I decorate the yacht for my boat party?

Guests are welcome to decorate the boats, as long as no damage is incurred with the decorations.

Where will my yacht charter party go?

All charters are based on customers wishes and their location departure.

Are children included in the guest count?

Yes, children are included in guest counts. Children below 13 year old are also required to wear life jackets on yachts.

What type of clothing should I wear on a yacht charter party?

Ideally guests should dress comfortably. Layers are advised as it can be windier and colder on the water than on land. Don´t forget your sunscreen and sunglasses.

What to wear to a boat party at night?

On an evening yacht charter party it is important to dress warmly. While the boats do have interiors that can keep deduce the wind factor an evening on the water can be chilly. So it is best to dress in warm layers.

Can I wear high heels to a party on a yacht?

High heels can be worn on some boats. On large party boats with 30+ guests it should be fine. It is not practical on the smaller boats as you will be walking around on different levels and materials and it can be dangerous. A better solution would be a pretty flat, a fancy sandal, or a short mule if you must.

What do I need to bring to a boat party?

For a boat party on a yacht it’s best to bring whatever will make you comfortable. Some guests like to bring an extra sweater, favorite snacks and drinks, sunscreen, sea sickness pills, and if it's a birthday party a gift for the host.

How soon in advance do I need to book a yacht for a party?

Our bookings are based on a first come first serve basis. To make sure your preferred date and time is available it's best to confirm the date and time as soon as possible.

How do I start a yacht party?

Gather everyone together and share a toast to get the party started. Then play the music and let everyone mingle around in the different corners of the boat. This will make a boat party come to life.

Am I expected to tip the captain and crew?

Gratuity is not included in the price and while not required it is always greatly appreciated. Any tips provided are split between the captain and crew.

Can I bring food and beverage aboard for a boat party?

Guests are welcome to bring food and beverage aboard.

Are refreshments included for a yacht party?

Refreshments are not included in the pricing. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and drink.

Is there a place we can go to swim during a yacht party?

What is a bareboat charter?

- A bareboat charter is a vessel that is leased by the owner to another person (a “charterer”) for a period of time without a captain or crew; - A bareboat charter is a vessel that is considered a recreational vessel and may not be subject to Passenger Vessel inspections by the United States Coast Guard; - Once the charterer takes possession of the vessel, the charterer becomes entirely responsible for the safe navigation of the vessel and its passengers; - The owner of the vessel is generally not responsible for any collision, personal injuries, and wages for the crew - The charterer is responsible for the vessel’s crew, fuel, insurance, any maintenance and repairs, and any liability associated with use and possession of the vessel; - The charterer must have the option of selecting and paying crew and may discharge the master or any crew member without referral to the owner; - The owner may require general levels of proficiency for the crew that is retained based on federal statutes; and - Charterers and passengers are solely responsible for making sure they understand and agree to the terms of any bareboat charter agreement.

Have questions before you embark on your adventure?

A Bareboat Agreement is a legal document between the owner or broker and the charterer that outlines the key information of your private yacht charter. It will detail the vessel information, date, time, pickup location, terms and conditions, insurance and cancellation.

A Captain and Crew Agreement is a legal document between the charterer, captain and crew member that the charterer chooses. It will outline the terms and conditions of the captain and crew for hire for your bareboat charter. 

Although not mandatory, it is customary to leave a gratuity for the work of the crew and the captain at the end of yacht rentals for birthdays . Standard gratuity is 15-20% of the charter fee. The captain will make sure gratuity is split with the crew.

In almost all cases, you are allowed to bring your own food and beverages for your party yacht rental. We ask that red wine, colored frosting or any kind of food that can stain stay on land. 

Chartering a yacht can make for an excellent family vacation, with activities to entertain both children and adults. In general the crew is not responsible for their safety. We recommend that you bring childcare if you want to truly relax and have a carefree time while ensuring your children are being looked after. Crew can assist in most ways however. If you have toddlers or infants when you rent a yacht for a party please let the captain or person handling your booking know so proper life jackets can be provided. Proper youth, toddler or infant life jackets are required.

Typically pets are not allowed aboard for health and safety reasons, and sea travel can be extremely uncomfortable for animals. If you need to be accompanied by your pet for any reason, we ask that you check with us for the yacht’s pet policy.

In general, smoking is not permitted inside or outside most yachts, and is strictly forbidden in any cabins or staterooms. Flames of any kind are prohibited inside, outside or on the swim platform. Burns from ashes happen very quickly on fiberglass, vinyl canvas or teak.

Last March 12, Senior High  star Andrea Brillantes marked her 21 st  birthday! And to celebrate this special milestone, she decided to throw a fun, intimate yacht party attended by her beloved family and her closest friends, which she shared in her latest vlog.

According to her, she and her girlfriends were supposed to be in Las Vegas, Nevada for her birthday escapade, but her visa didn’t come right in time because she opted to attend Taylor Swift’s concert in Tokyo, Japan last February.

Andrea made the whole place shimmer in a mini fuchsia pink dress that she paired with a tiara, a pair of pearl drop earrings, and cute sunglasses – a mesmerizing look she revealed was actually inspired by a meme.

Among those who were present at her party were her Mommy Belle and his siblings Kayla Aan, Nina, and Kismet, and friends Kyle Echarri, Bianca de Vera, Bea Borres, Danica Ongtengco, and Ashley del Mundo.

At night, there was a splendid fireworks display and a wild karaoke and dance session while aboard the yacht, which everyone apparently enjoyed! Thus, Andrea conveyed in the outro of her vlog how happy and satisfied she was with everything that happened at her birthday fete.

She also didn’t forget to thank everyone who took the time to greet her, send her presents, and watch this vlog.

“ Sa lahat po ng nag -greet sa akin sa  birthday ko , thank you so much. Sa lahat ng nanood ng  vlog ko , thank you so much. Sana po nag -enjoy kayo. At sa mga nanonood pa ng mga  vlogs ko simula noong  18 ako , thank you po sa inyo . I love you all so much. And I’m finally 21. I can’t believe, tumantanda na ako. Ito na talaga , adulthood begins now!” she enthused.

She completely capped off the vlog by giving a shout-out to all her friends who came to celebrate with her despite the very short notice.

Woman Celebrates Her 103rd Birthday in Care Home with Rave-Themed Party: It Was 'Full of Joy'

Earlier this month, an elderly woman celebrated her 103rd birthday with a rave-themed party in her care home, according to SWNS.

Vera Sak, who is a great-great-grandmother, marked the celebratory occasion at the Chestnuts Residential Home in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, in the U.K. on March 1.

For the event, workers at the care home transformed one of their day rooms into a club, complete with neon balloons, flashing lights and glow sticks.

Celebrating with others residing at the location, Vera was also joined by her two sons, Robert and John.

Speaking about the heartfelt gesture for his mother that was made possible by the care home, John told SWNS, "They've gone above the call of duty, I think the staff here are so wonderful."

"Rather than just leave the residents to their own devices, there's always something going on here," he continued. "It's a two-way thing — some residents can't respond as well as others, but this room today is full of joy."

John added: "If there's ever a special occasion, they do push the boat out."

In a statement of her own, care home manager Emma Phillips said, per SWNS, "We always plan special events for our residents’ birthday."

"The team [has] worked incredibly hard on this party, but it's not every day that someone turns 103," she further explained.

Tracy Atkins, the chief operating officer of the group, meanwhile, noted to SWNS, "All of our care homes promote the uniqueness and individuality of their residents."

"Our staff do an incredible job of bringing joy and entertainment to the residents every day, but this is something special," she continued, adding, "I am so impressed by the dedication and hard work of our staff to plan and hold such an amazing event to celebrate Vera’s birthday."
