The moment you step on board the beautiful Carol M. you will be transported to another, earlier time. From a short three hour scenic cruise, which includes hors d’oeuvres, but not meals, to our full gourmet dinner cruise, we provide a truly enchanting and personal experience.

Our cruises originate on Lake Union, home of the famous “Sleepless in Seattle” and house boat community–then navigate the Montlake Cut out into Lake Washington, unless other arrangements have been made. (We do offer dock-side pickup to homes on Lake Washington.)

As you cruise along the lakeshore you will see some of Seattle’s most beautiful waterfront homes and properties, while enjoying complimentary hors d’oeuvres of two nice cheeses, crackers and fresh grapes on all of our cruises.

We are however best known for our dinner cruise of four or more hours, where we anchor in one of the bays on Lake Washington. There, in the stillness of the water, we serve a delicious, relaxed multi-course dinner before resuming the cruise for home.

Or if you prefer, book us to cruise west through the Ballard Locks and experience the salt air and stunning views of Puget Sound (for this cruise plan on 7 to 8 hours).

Whichever adventure you choose, you will find it to be far more than a boat ride–we are not your typical charter boat, we create memories!

Our minimum cruise is a three hour charter, includes hors d’oeuvres, but no additional meals at $770.00. Additional hours are $225.00 per hour.

Our dinner cruises require a minimum of four hours, at $995.00.

Meals are a separate charge, and average $150.00 per person. Please visit our menu page . We are not licensed to sell or provide alcohol, but if you bring it we have everything needed to manage and provide full service at no additional cost.

All our cruises are private and designed with you for your personal experience.

• We are licensed as a six-pack charter, and can take up to SIX GUESTS TOTAL. (Children must be twelve years of age or older) • We have a minimum time of 3 hours for a scenic cruise, with our most popular cruise being our 4 hour dinner cruise. • All cruises come with light hors d’ oeuvres, and a two person crew; a licensed captain, and myself, owner, host, and chef.

Seattle houseboat sinks, leaking diesel fuel into Lake Union

The Washington State Department of Ecology has revised their estimate of the amount of fuel that has spilled into Seattle’s Lake Union after a houseboat sank on Lake Union Saturday afternoon. According to WSDOE, their original estimate that 30-50 gallons of diesel fuel were spilled in the lake has been changed to over 100 gallons.

There was no one in the home at the time of the incident.

To contain the spill at a marina near Gasworks Park, the City of Seattle, WSDOE and a salvage company put booms around the vessel.

WSDOE says Global Diving and Salvage is handling the recovery of the vessel. Contractors have removed 400 gallons of fuel from tanks on the houseboat.

Birds may have been affected by this spill, If you see an oily bird, you can report it by calling 1-800 22-BIRDS.

Clean up and salvage efforts continue, with the US Coast Guard and salvage crews working on the clean up.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Last year, President Joe Biden hadn’t even spoken a word at the White House celebration of Ramadan before someone shouted out “we love you.” Hundreds of Muslims were there to mark the end of the holy month that requires fasting from sunrise to sunset.

There are no such joyous scenes during this Ramadan. With many Muslim Americans outraged over Biden’s support for Israel’s siege of Gaza, the White House chose to hold a smaller iftar dinner on Tuesday evening. The only attendees will be people who work for his administration.

“We’re just in a different world,” said Wa’el Alzayat, who leads Emgage, a Muslim advocacy organization. “It’s completely surreal. And it’s sad.”

Alzayat attended last year’s event, but he declined an invitation to break his fast with Biden this year, saying, “It’s inappropriate to do such a celebration while there’s a famine going on in Gaza.”

After rejections from Alzayat and others, he said the White House adjusted its plans on Monday, telling community leaders that it wanted to host a meeting focusing on administration policy. Alzayat still said no, believing that one day was not enough time to prepare for an opportunity to sway Biden’s mind on the conflict.

“I don’t think the format will lend itself to a serious policy discussion,” he said Tuesday afternoon.

The refusal to break bread — or even share a room — with the president is fresh evidence of how fractured the relationship between Biden and the Muslim community has become six months after Israel and Hamas began their current war.

When the Democratic president took office three years ago, many Muslim leaders were eager to turn the page on Donald Trump’s bigotry, including his campaign pledge to implement a ” total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.”

But now Democrats fear that Biden’s loss of support among Muslims could help clear a path for his Republican predecessor to return to the White House. This year’s election will likely hinge on a handful of battleground states, including Michigan with its significant Muslim population.

“There are real differences between the two,” Alzayat said. “But emotionally, there may be no differences for some folks. And that’s the danger.”

He added, “It’s not good enough to tell people Donald Trump is going to be worse.”

Several Muslim leaders were expected to attend Tuesday’s meeting with Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Muslim government officials and national security leaders. The White House did not name them. Some people who had attended events in previous years, such as Mayor Abdullah Hammoud of Dearborn, Mich., were not invited.

Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said “community leaders expressed the preference” of having a “working group meeting,” which she described as an opportunity to “get feedback from them.”

As far as the private iftar, Jean-Pierre said that “the president is going to continue his tradition of honoring the Muslim community during Ramadan.”

No journalists will be allowed to capture either the iftar or private meeting, a change from previous years. Neither was listed on the president’s public schedule.

Outside the White House, activists prepared their own iftar on Tuesday evening in Lafayette Park. Organizers planned to distribute dates, a traditional food for Ramadan, so people can break their fasts at sundown.

The boycotting of Biden’s invitation is reminiscent of a trip that White House officials took to Detroit earlier this year. They faced an icy reception from Muslim American community leaders in the swing state, where more than 100,000 Democratic primary voters cast protest votes for “uncommitted” as part of an organized showing of disapproval for Biden’s approach to the war.

The fighting began on Oct. 7 when Hamas killed 1,200 Israelis in a surprise attack. In response, Israel has killed roughly 33,000 Palestinians. The number comes from Gaza’s Health Ministry. It’s unclear how many are combatants, which Israel accuses of operating in civilian areas, but the ministry said two-thirds of the deaths are women and children.

The message, he said, should be “unless he calls for a cease-fire, there will be no meeting with him or his representatives.”

“I believe that the president is the only person in the world who can stop this,” Awad said. “He can pick up the phone and literally tell Benjamin Netanyahu, no more weapons, just stop it, and Benjamin Netanyahu will have no choice but to do so.”

Awad has previously clashed with the White House over his comments on the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas. Gaza has spent years under an effective blockade by Israel — with help from Egypt — and Awad said he was “happy to see people breaking the siege” so they could ”walk free into their land that they were not allowed to walk in.”

After the comments were circulated by a Middle East research organization founded by Israeli analysts, the White House issued a statement saying “we condemn these shocking, antisemitic statements in the strongest terms.”

Awad called it a “fabricated controversy” and said he had criticized the targeting of Israeli citizens in his same speech.

The New York Giants sent a large contingent to the Washington pro day last week, including head coach Brian Daboll , who got a firsthand look at quarterback Michael Penix Jr.

The 23-year-old shined on the field and during his athletic testing, causing some to suggest he could sneak into the mix at the top of the 2024 NFL draft.

The Giants were also impressed and spent a little extra time with Penix after his workout, joining him for dinner in Seattle.

The Giants have invested heavily in scouting the top quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL draft and seemed poised to add one at some point or another. If they’re blocked out from grabbing one of the top four, perhaps Penix becomes a realistic option — assuming he’s not one of those top four.

NFL Network draft analyst Lance Zierlein has given Penix a pro comparison of Tua Tagovailoa.

Penix will be a 24-year-old rookie with a history of season-ending injuries at Indiana and impressive production while at Washington. The Huskies’ offensive design helped declutter coverages for Penix, allowing him to throw a higher number of intermediate and deep passes. He plays with smart pocket mobility and a willingness to get rid of the football, which makes it difficult to sack him. His delivery is bundled and his release point is very low, but his monster game against Texas showed flashes of impeccable touch. Penix has plenty of arm but needs to work with more consistent timing between the numbers to eliminate unnecessary contested throws. He’s a pocket passer who was ineffective in 2023 when defenses were able to crank up the heat and make him move his feet. Playing in a shotgun-based spread attack might give him his best chance to succeed, but he needs to prove he can thrive outside of the Washington offense and stay free from injury.

The injury issues may raise a red flag. The Giants already have similar concerns with quarterback Daniel Jones, which is the primary reason they’re potentially seeking alternative options as it is.

A Weeknight Skillet Chicken Dinner, Rich With Greens

This forgiving and adaptable weeknight dinner stars tender chicken thighs, braising greens and whole garlic cloves.

If the overabundance of root vegetables like sunchokes, black radishes and kohlrabies the size of my head is the late-winter scourge of my C.S.A., the steady supply of braising greens is its redemption. No matter how many bunches of curly kale, sturdy collard greens and steely chard arrive each week, there’s always a place on my table for their floppy, verdant magic.

I sauté them most nights in olive oil with garlic and red pepper flakes, adding whatever soft herbs need using up. A splash of water, stock or wine helps wilt and soften everything, especially the hardier plants like collards and broccoli rabe. We pile them on toast, submerge them in soup, top them with an egg or toss them into pasta. And when no one else is home, I simply spoon the cooked greens into a bowl, sprinkle Parmesan over the top and devour the entire bunch all by myself.

Recipe: Herby Skillet Chicken With Greens

For this recipe, I nestled my beloved greens in their pan with chicken thighs , another weeknight favorite. It makes for a skillet dinner that’s not much harder than cooking the greens by themselves, but a lot more substantial.

I chose boneless, skinless thighs because they’re forgiving and cook quickly. But bone-in, skin-on thighs are a great alternative, provided you add about 10 minutes to the roasting time. Chicken breasts — either bone-in or boneless — will also work well. Boneless breasts have a narrow window of being done but not overdone, usually about 5 to 7 minutes less than boneless thighs, so watch them carefully. In any case, you’ve got options.

Ditto for the greens. Kale, collards and chard are my usuals for braising, because that’s what’s usually in the C.S.A. box. But the broccoli spigarello and broccoli rabe I tested while developing this recipe were also divine, adding pleasing bitter notes to the mix. Just avoid baby tender greens, which easily turn to mush.

Grated lemon zest mixed in right at the end adds some revelatory brightness. And if you’re a fan, olives or capers gives this a briny zing that rounds out the earthiness of the greens.

Serve this skillet meal alongside something that will capture all the savory, schmaltzy sauce — crusty bread, rice or noodles. Or you could pop a pan of root vegetables into the oven to roast along with the chicken. If they’re going to keep arriving, we may as well give them a chance to shine.
