Royal Akarana Yacht Club launches new website

It’s been a massive start to the 2012/2013 Season for Royal Akarana Yacht Club with a successful AGM and the launch of a brand new website.
Matthew Woodley, owner and skipper of the Davidson 42 Mr. Roosevelt, has stayed on as Commodore and is leading the charge on many significant developments including the new building which is due to commence construction in May 2013.
Matt is joined by Vice Commodore Mike Wilson (Starlight Express – Davidson 55) and Rear Commodore Nathan Bonney (Quarter Pint – Farr 727).
In the very early hours last Thursday morning, RAYC launched a brand new website to coincide with the ongoing changes that the club is experiencing.
The new website was developed in-house and will be constantly updated with new event information, news, photos and videos. Each event has its own identity will display all the details regarding it as well as archived news and results.
The website was designed for easier navigation and really showcases all the great things that RAYC displays.

Royal Akarana Yacht Club – The Home of Blue Water Sailing
The Royal Akarana Yacht Club is one of New Zealand’s oldest yacht clubs and occupies a unique place in this country’s recreational sailing history.
Throughout its 127 years, it has been at the forefront of New Zealand yachting and particularly in its early years, had a huge influence on the way the sport developed in this country. Visit the club at https://rayc.co.nz/

RPAYC : Berths for competing boats may be available at RPAYC for a discounted rate in the build-up to the Race. For more details on berthing at the RPAYC and alternative berthing in Pittwater and Sydney, please contact the RPAYC. [email protected]
AUCKLAND : Berthing will be provided on arrival in Auckland in the Viaduct prescient. ** Note all Vessels require a NZL Electrical Certificate to use power. The O.A. will provide a contact on arrival to assist actioning this with owners.
The Race Committee will direct boats to their temporary berth. Boats planning to stay on in Auckland or New Zealand should provide details as there may be discounted berthing available. It is a condition of Entry that boats must moor in accordance with the directions of the Marina Manager and the Race Committee.

Track the Fleet
Each yacht will have a Yellow Brock Tracker installed by the Organising Authority. Competitors and spectators will be able to follow the fleet live as they cross the Tasman.

Custom requirements are applicable to all:

Competitors are reminded that it is their sole responsibility to ensure that they clear out through customs in Australia and clear customs into New Zealand on arrival. Check what Entry and Visa Requirements are required. Custom Officers will greet arriving boats at their berths in Auckland.

When travelling to an overseas port, your Australian-owned vessel (commercial ship, yacht, or other pleasure craft) must be registered on the Australian general shipping register, regardless of its size. The race has been classified by the Organising Authority an Australian Sailing Special Regulations category 1 race with the addition of the OAs own additional requirements as listed in the Notice of Race.
This means that an entrant will need to have a Cat 1 Audit done and additionally have an Australian Sailing National Certified Auditor sign off the O.A’s additional items.

It's a vision that the Royal Akarana Yacht Club have talked about since at least 1990 and it accelerated considerably when a resolution was passed at a 2012 special general meeting of the club to work towards new clubrooms.
