The duo we never knew we needed are back on our feeds once again as “The 6’s” own hitmaker Drake and Georgia born man of the moment Lil Yachty posted up for a flick wearing a host of conversation-starting garments.

Encapsulating both of their respective favoured fashion stylings, these ensembles were both unapologetic in their nature, much like this budding friendship. The two ‘Another Late Night’ stars were snapped wearing contrasting looks, with Drizzy opting for an oversized mottled brown suit, a white graphic t-shirt, as well as a pair of the wildly-popular Veneda Carter x Timberland 6″ ‘Patent Leather’ boots in a classic ‘Wheat’. Yachty's influence could be seen everywhere in 2023.

This year has been an undeniably prolific one for Lil Yachty , who followed his acclaimed Let’s Start Here album in January with a string of lane-shifting singles leading up to the J. Cole-featuring “ The Secret Recipe .” But 2023 hasn’t just been a big year for Yachty in the musical sense, as it’s also proven to be one for the books in terms of his increasingly emulated style .

Yachty’s prowess in this realm has now inspired a TikTok trend focused on showing viewers “how to dress like Lil Yachty.” In @jhalfaday 's original video, seen below, fans are given some lighthearted narration on how to put together their own Yachty-inspired look.

“First things first, find the baggiest pair of pants that you own. Now, get baggier,” we hear in the opening moments. “Next, grab whatever shirt you wanna wear. It doesn’t really matter because you’re gonna cover it up with 100 layers. Great! Now find a hoodie that doesn’t match the pants.”

Lil Yachty ‘s latest album, “Let’s Start Here,” did just that: It gave the rapper’s career a new starting point by setting aside his hip-hop origins and rebooting into psychedelic rock. Yachty 2.0 stopped by Central Park’s SummerStage and showed off his new sound, while also giving original fans a healthy dose of his classic bangers.

The new chapter of Yachty had begun with this surreal, spacey production, and fans flooded into New York’s Central Park on Friday night to see it for themselves. Yachty’s band and singers appeared on stage first, all dressed in white, while trippy, dream-like visuals projected onto a huge screen behind them. The funky tunes of “drive ME crazy!” opened the show, with Yachty gliding in singing the soft vocals of “the ride” and “pRETTy.”

The typical 808s and bass of a normal rap concert wouldn’t be heard for a few more songs, as the band played an electric guitar-assisted rendition of Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight” before Yachty transitioned into the hip-hop portion of the night. It was as if the concert was divided into Act I and II, and finally the old Yachty came out to play some of his bangers. After the indie rock start, fans opened up the crowd to mosh along with “Yacht Club,” “Flex Up” and “Coffin.” Strobe lights and lasers illuminated the stage as Yachty jumped around screaming his lyrics as his braids and beads danced wildly in the air.

After the release of “Let’s Start Here,” Yachty got a shoutout from Questlove for “pushing the envelope” and being an example of “music’s future,” beyond just the rap genre. Whatever may come next, (he’s supposedly developing an action movie based on Uno — yes, the card game ) fans will want to keep an eye on where Yachty sails to next.

Thanks to Nautica, Lil Yachty Has Officially Sailed Into the Fashion Game

There’s a kooky new kid on the fashion block and he goes by the name of Lil Yachty. The 19-year-old Georgia-born rapper, of “King Boat” and the crew called Sailing Team, first gained fame back in 2015 with his EP Summer Songs , the music of which he himself once dubbed “ bubblegum trap ” (he’s sampled sounds from Rugrats and Super Mario Bros.). His major entrée into style however came last year, when the sartorial world took notice of his beaded red braids, hot pink shirts, and preppy plaid vests. He also modeled for Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 show at Madison Square Garden and was a face of Nautica’s exclusive line for Urban Outfitters.

Now, Lil Yachty is continuing the relationship with his all-time favorite American sportswear brand, as it was announced today that he has signed on to be Nautica’s creative designer. In this new position he will release capsule collections throughout the year and model for ad campaigns. Along with the big news, fans were also treated to a sneak peek of what’s to come with the reveal of a limited-edition collection of logo-bedecked items curated by the lyricist.

Lil Yachty’s eccentric, playfully naïve swag is just the sort of attribute that makes this celebrity fashion mash-up stand out from all the rest. And it’s true of his everyday style game too. If you didn’t know, now you know: King Boat has just sailed into the new year as a fashion force to be reckoned with.

Update November 15th, 2023:  Lil Yachty’s upcoming Air Force 1 Low collaboration has surfaced in first-look imagery.

Lil Yachty may be well within his rights to be self-appointed as the rap industry’s biggest sneakerhead. Having shown off his vastly expansive sneaker closet(s) on a number of occasions, the two-time Grammy nominee is taking one step closer to cementing his top status with a reported Nike Air Force 1 collaboration in the works.

As Yachty walked through the aisles of Cool Kicks LA, he picked up Travis Scott’s recent AF1 Low “Utopia” and mentioned that he has his own version of the iconic circa 1982 silhouette on the way. While Darnell Boat quickly swerved any and all follow-ups knowing he had already shared too much, it was later revealed that Yachty has been pushing to collaborate on his own shoe for seven years.

The Atlanta-born artist previously signed with Reebok as a brand ambassador in 2017 but as of recently, Yachty has been sporting swoosh-exclusive footwear; from snacking on a box of Fruity Pebbles at the Nike World Basketball Festival in NYC to recently showing off a pair of the CPFM x Nike Flea 2 alongside the Nike ACG Air Pumori Snowboard Boots.

In the midst of November, Yachty revealed a first look at his upcoming collaboration via the Close Friends feature on his Instagram. Showing off the upcoming collaboration while at the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, the low top trim bears a supple tumbled white leather upper with dark navy contrasts that adorn the tread and inner lining. Shout outs to his Concrete Boys label are found throughout the box and along the heel overlay’s stickman figure while Yachty’s signature adlib “It’s Us” adorns both the cobranded tongue tabs and photo blue insoles.

The Lil Yachty x Nike Air Force 1 Low “Concrete Boys” is currently expected to release in 2024. Could there be a potential initial drop at ComplexCon? Stay tuned for future details.

Lil Yachty announced the dates for his fall 2023 The Field Trip tour on Tuesday morning (May 9). The 39-date global tour is slated to kick off on Sept. 21 with a show at the Echostage in Washington, D.C. and make its way across North America with stops in New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Indianapolis, Nashville, San Diego, Las Vegas, Denver and Minneapolis before winding down on Nov. 5 at the Fillmore in Detroit.

Lil Yachty Claims Him Liking A Shady Tweet About Kendrick After “Euphoria” Was “An Accident”

Accidents happen! Lil Yachty claims that he did not intend to link a tweet where a Drake fan account called out Kendrick Lamar for infidelity.

The Compton, Calif., rapper released his Drake-targeted diss record “ Euphoria ” on Tuesday (April 30) and called out the Toronto superstar for being a “deadbeat” father. Naturally, fans of the “Rich Baby Daddy” rapper weren’t pleased with the claim and recalled an admission he made on his 2022 album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers .

On the song “Worldwide Steppers,” he rapped, “The first time I f**ked a white b**ch, I was sixteen at the Palisades, fumblin’ my grades,” and “Next time I f**ked a white b**ch, was out in Copenhagen/ Good Kid, M.A.A.D City tour, I flourished on them stages.” He mentioned a conversation he had with his wife, Whitney Alford, about the situation as well: “Whitney asked did I have a problem/ I said, ‘I might be racist’/ Ancestors watchin’ me f**k was like retaliation.”

On “Mother I Sober,” Kendrick confirmed that he cheated on his wife, though he did not specifically say that it was with white women. “Intoxicated, there’s a lustful nature that I failed to mention/ Insecurities that I project, sleepin’ with other women/ Whitney’s hurt, the pure soul I know, I found her in the kitchen/ Askin’ God, ‘Where did I lose myself? And can it be forgiven?'”

A Drake fan account posted a Genius lyric card from Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria” where he raps, “Y’all think all of my life is rap?/ That’s h** sh*t, I got a son to raise, but I can see you know nothin’ bout that.” In the caption, they asked, “So who was raising your child while you were out cheating on your wife with white women? @kendricklamar.”

These days, a large part of being a Hip-Hop fan is perusing artists’ social media activity. So, unsurprisingly, a music account discovered that Lil Yachty liked the tweet alluding to K. Dot’s infidelity. The act was perceived as him subtly going to bat for the Toronto superstar, with whom he has collaborated and developed a strong friendship over the last few years. Beyond that, Yachty himself was mentioned in “Euphoria” with the lines: “I’m allergic to the lame sh*t, only you like bein’ famous/ Yachty can’t give you no swag neither, I don’t give a f**k ’bout who you hang with.”

Lil Boat cleared the air hours later, writing, “Sh*t was an accident lmao.” A fan responded to his tweet with a video saying, “There’s no way out of this one…you’re done” and wrote “Too late buddy” in the caption. The Atlanta rapper quoted the tweet and added multiple laughing emojis.

“Euphoria” was Kendrick Lamar’s response to Drake’s one-two punch of “ Push Ups ” and the now-deleted “ Taylor Made Freestyle ,” the latter of which featured modulated vocals from Tupac and Snoop Dogg. K. Dot kicked off this chapter of his feud with his former collaborator on Future and Metro Boomin’s “ Like That ” at the end of March.
