Alexandra Palace Boating Lake

Boat hire in London

Float your way across these boating lakes with our guide to London boat hire

London can get pretty damn sweaty during the hotter months . And while  day trips  and  seaside jaunts  are great for some light relief from the heat, sometimes city responsibilities mean escaping Zone 6 just isn’t possible. If you need to swap your stuffy flat for cooler climes, but only have a few hours to spare, a boat trip might be just what you need.

Luckily London is full of rivers, lakes, ponds and canals to pedal across, row down or canoe around, and we’re blessed with loads of great places to hire boats, too. Here’s our guide to the best boating spots in the city to help you cool down. Just try not to fall in!

Hire boats and pedalos in London

Boating on the Serpentine

1.  Boating on the Serpentine

  • Sightseeing

Hyde Park is home to London's oldest boating lake, and visitors can take out a pedalo or rowing boat to admire the many interesting waterfowl that call it home (as well as the brave swimmers in the unheated Serpentine Lido). The boats get very popular in good weather, especially at weekends, but the lake's spacious so once you're out there you should find plenty of room to sail.

Price : £12 per adult per hour (£10 for half an hour). Open daily 10am-6pm April-May; 10am-7pm June-August; 10am-8pm June-August; 10am-7pm; 10am-dusk October-March.

Regent’s Park Boating Lake

2.  Regent’s Park Boating Lake

  • Ships and boats
  • Regent’s Park

You can hire a rowing boat or pedalo on the water in Regent's Park, which is surrounded by beautiful greenery. Kids can pedal around their own mini-lake, while grown-ups might attempt a spot of romancing – this is the lake in which Trevor Howard and Celia Johnson frolicked in classic British romance ‘Brief Encounter’.

Price : £10.50 per adult per hour. Open daily from 10am weekdays and 11am on weekends, closing at 6pm April-May; 7pm June-September; dusk in October.

3.  Lee Valley Boat Centre

  • Sport and fitness
  • Hertfordshire

This is your destination if you want a comprehensive choice of vessels to hire. There are pedalos, electric boats (with steering wheel) and traditional rowing boats available to hire on an hourly and half-hourly basis.

Price :From £14 per boat per hour.

Open daily 10am-6pm, opening times can vary. Opening dates this year run from April 8-October 22.

Crystal Palace Park Boating Lake

4.  Crystal Palace Park Boating Lake

  • Parks and gardens
  • Crystal Palace

Not much is going to make you pedal faster than realising you're floating past a load of dinosaurs. Crystal Palace Park's ancient inhabitants have been on the banks of its lake since the 1850s, and visitors can hire a pedalo to pootle past them, pretending they're in a slo-mo, waterborne scene from 'Jurassic Park'.

Price :£5 per pedalo, per adult. Cash only. Open 10.30am-5pm weekends, bank holidays and school holidays from Easter until October.

Victoria Park Boating Lake

5.  Victoria Park Boating Lake

  • Victoria Park

East London's vast and lovely Victoria Park boasts a huge lake with three islands (one of which can be accessed by footbridge) to row or pedal past. There's also a beautiful fountain, which will need avoiding if you're not in the mood to get drenched. The nearby Pavilion Café sells refreshments to perk you up afterwards.

Price :£10 per boat per half hour.  Open daily. 12pm-5pm Mon-Fri, 12-6 Sun. Opens each year roughly from Easter-October 31.

Moo Canoes

6.  Moo Canoes

Kayak down the Thames in a bovine boat as part of this alternative sightseeing tour. A two-man vessel decorated with a black and white cow print will be your mode of transport. There are several alternatives but 'Greenwich Meal Time' runs from Limehouse Basin to the Royal Naval College at Greenwich.

There you'll disembark and dine in a riverside restaurant, before sailing back via the Millennium Dome. The trip is suitable for beginners and no kayaking experience is necessary.

Price : From £26 per tandem kayak for the first hour. Book in advance. Open Sat and Sun 10am-5pm April-October.

Greenwich Park Boating Lake

7.  Greenwich Park Boating Lake

There's nowhere to hide on Greenwich Park's little lake, so if you'd rather your mates didn't see you steering a pedalo (or rowing boat) like it's a bumper car you might like to sail elsewhere. The plus side to this is that any landlubbers can wave and take photos from the banks while you're on board.

Price : £4 per adult per half hour. Open 10am-5pm weekends, from April-October.

Dulwich Park Boating Lake

8.  Dulwich Park Boating Lake

Take a serene trip across Dulwich Park's lake in one of its green pedalos or rowing boats and enjoy views of the nearby pavilion café while you float.

Price : £4 per adult per half hour. Cash only. Open 10am-5pm on weekends, bank holidays and school holidays from April-October.

Hollow Ponds

9.  Hollow Ponds

  • Things to do
  • Snaresbrook

A true escape from tarmac and concrete, Epping Forest's Hollow Ponds are a beautiful stretch of water offering you the space to row your own adventure. Apart from the boathouse, Lakeside Diner and other facilities there's hardly a building to be seen, and friendly staff are on hand to instruct beginners.

Price : £15 per boat per hour (£10 for a half hour). Open daily 10am-8pm

Alexandra Palace Boating Lake

10.  Alexandra Palace Boating Lake

  • Cultural centres
  • Alexandra Palace

You'll have to get up one heck of a hill to reach Ally Pally, but your efforts will be rewarded with a choice of rides that would get even the most po-faced pedalo-er squealing with delight. Choose to float across the lake in a swan, a dragon or a VW Beetle, or go trad with a plain yellow design.

Those looking to put some extra effort into their waterborne experience can take out a rowing boat instead. The Lakeside Café offers indoor and outdoor seating, free wifi and baby changing facilities.

Price : From £6.95 per adult per half hour with a minimum fee of £8.95. Open 10am-6pm Apr-Sept, 10am-4pm Oct-March, weather permitting.

Battersea Park Boating Lake

11.  Battersea Park Boating Lake

  • Zoos and aquariums

The pretty lake in Battersea Park sees its hired rowing boats and pedalos going round in circles thanks to a central island. Its tall greenery also serves to allow beginners to find a more secluded spot to practice in before they are confident enough to steam back into port.

Price : £6 per adult per 30 minutes. Open school holidays, public holidays and all weekends between Easter and the end of September.

Finsbury Park Boats

12.  Finsbury Park Boats

  • Finsbury Park

Row your boat around the island in Finsbury Park's little lake. You may find yourself ducking and diving to avoid the bird life, however, especially if you've bought a bag of swan and duck feed with you.

Price : £8 per boat per 30 minutes. All those who don their best pirate oufits on a Saturday (noon-3pm) will get a boat for £5. Open noon-6pm daily from Easter to early October, then weekends in Autumn.

Fancy a different kind of paddle?

Just wanted to say a quick thanks. Friday night was absolutely brilliant and we had a great time. All the staff on the boat were great and everything ran smoothly.

motorboat hire london

We really enjoyed the boat party last Weds - it was the nicest boat we have had! I wonder if you could pass on my thanks (again) to the staff especially Claire - she found a student's phone on board after we had left and came back to Westminster to return it to us. It was so kind as the student was flying home early the next morning!

London Vista Boat - Party Boat Hire on the River Thames in London

Thanks for organising my Party. We all greatly enjoyed ourselves - the food was good and no one was sea sick! (the Thames was surprisingly choppy - even for me as a long distance sailor!) The equipment worked well for speeches, but with everyone talking it was too noisy for background music. The crowd generates a lot of steam, so the windows were well misted (maybe I should have opened a couple), but the aft deck was great for those wanting to see the sights and get a peaceful moment. Our thanks to all the team on board who were most helpful. (We left them tips) All the best

Thank you for the great experience from the onset of planning, pricing, menu planning to the actual cruise. Everyone enjoyed it very much and was perfect for generating a team bonding experience.

This is the most efficient and friendly company. Amanda , who books, was so on top of everything. The boat was beautiful. The captain,Philip, is the nicest. The chef gave us great food and the lady who took care of the guests was so knowledgeable and kind. We had the best time.

We held a company event and customer dinner on the Elizabethan in May 2023. The whole team, both on and offboard, were very friendly and helpful, and helped to create a fantastic event which our customers really enjoyed. Particular praise to the event manager onboard, Taniel! Also, the food was excellent - surprisingly good for a mass catered event (we had 86). All in all it was an unforgettable evening - thank you team!

motorboat hire london

What a wonderful way to celebrate any occasion! I hired the boat for my 60th Birthday party. The views of London from the river were stunning and the boat was perfect for my 70 guests. Lower, upper and outside decks with 2 bars and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The whole evening went without a hitch and it’s definitely something I would do again. Thames Boat Hire made the booking and requirements easy and were very helpful from my initial enquiry until the day of my party. I would thoroughly recommend them.

I’m emailing to thank you for your help with organising the boat and photographer. You are so efficient and helpful it’s made what might be a stressful experience easy - so often nowadays we are expected to organise things online and having you there rather than a portal was just amazing. Could you pass on my thanks to the boat crew - who are all just so lovely and helpful - and Melvin the photographer who went beyond the call of duty in getting his photos! Once again thank you

Thank you for organising our wellbeing day - Staff had a lovely time and once again everything went really smoothly. Please extend our thanks to the Captain and his crew who made everyone feel welcome. Thank the cooks for the wonderful food and the bar staff for their service. It’s a shame we won’t be able to do this again, but it was a perfect way to spend time as a team.

I just wanted to send across a quick email to say a massive thank you for helping me organise the boat for my client. It was amazing! The team onboard were brilliant, helpful, accommodating and just fab!! Please do extend my thanks to the team onboard, we had a great trip and I will 100% book again for any future clients wanting dinner on the Thames. Oh also, the food was super yummy! We were really lucky with the weather the views of London were amazing. Again, a massive thank you!

We really enjoyed the boat tour on the Thames. The group was very enthusiastic and had a lovely afternoon on the boat! I must say that the staff was really kind, so please forward the message to them as well. The staff on board made it a great experience. Hopefully, we can work together in the near future. Wish you a lovely day! Vriendelijke groet,

It was a really good night. The food was excellent and the DJ had everyone dancing. I must send thanks to all of the crew who were extremely helpful on the night.

Yes we absolutely loved it thank you. We were very well looked after and the sites were fantastic. Some of us have never done a boat on the Thames so it was great.

motorboat hire london

Fantastic! That is the Best way to describe it. It was a fantastic experience. I thank you so much for your help and all your suggestions for the event. Your advices were superb. The crew, the boat, the food and entertainment were exceptional.

motorboat hire london

I would just like to thank you for an amazing evening, and compliment you on your team and their professionalism It was a great evening, and we will certainly be recommending you to other clients!

We all thought the experience was fantastic. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, the boat was brilliant, and it was really great to see London for a new perspective. You were also really great and accommodating leading up to the event. Our only complaint was that the trip was too short haha. We will definitely be back in touch for next year!

motorboat hire london

I just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you for helping us run a great event with Thames Boat Hire. Our people had such a wonderful time and we were very well looked after. Please can you pass my thanks onto the team that hosted us, they made us feel very welcome, delivered some great banter and most importantly made our people feel special.

It was a fantastic party; we had a great time and so did all of our guests. The fireworks were a highlight, and the food was delicious. Special mention too to Craig and his band who provided fantastic entertainment. Thankyou for your part in the organisation. Attached are a few photos which you are very welcome to use on the website. Kind regards Jane

Great service from the initial booking through to the actual night – the team had a great evening and I would thoroughly recommend Thames Cruises.

I take this opportunity to appreciate commedable efforts put in by you to organize the ‎boat ride at such a short notice. I was pleasantly surprised to see beautiful Thames Limo, its captain Phillip and Tom. Both of them were extremely courteous and professional. They looked after our comfort and care with utmost efforts. I did convey my thanks and Appreciation to them but at the same time I would like the company to know that in my opinion these two are truly valuable assets. What is it like taking CBD oil for Crohn's disease? cbd oil melbourne at premium jane

Your team “knocked it out of the park” as we say over here. You did a great job and so did your team. The trip proved to be the highlight of our stay and people are still talking about how great it was for team building, dining, and just overall enjoyment. Thanks for everything.

Everything was great, thank you for your help. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive from our side. This was our 3rd annual boat party and our first on the Thames, everyone had a great time and we’ll definitely be coming back next year.

We all had a great evening and everyone has been so complimentary about the event / staff / the boat and how nice the entire experience was. Thank you again for all your help and support throughout and we will be sure to remember Thames Dinner Cruise for future events.

Just to let you know that we had a fantastic night on Saturday. Francine was great and all went exactly as I hoped. Food worked well, DJ was really great, decorations perfect, security were unobtrusive and courteous but firm, bar staff very efficient and plenty of room for dancing. Thanks so much for delivering a truly special night…

The event was a great success. Everyone enjoyed it enormously. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The boat was perfect for the event. It was the right size, was very clean, and looked just right. Everyone commented that the toilets were clean and very well appointed! The soft seating area on the upper deck was very popular, and, thanks to the good weather, the outside area was particularly popular.

Your crew made my entire team feel welcome, they were polite, friendly and professional, they came and spoke to me prior to us boarding offered to move things around for us due to it being such hot weather. They could not have made the experience any better for us at all. They made themselves approachable for our entire party with no request too much and enjoyed the celebration with the team making everyone feel welcome.

The guests really enjoyed the event, the food and the tour guide. Thank you so much for your help and support during the booking process. Your prompt reply and always answering my questions was a great help. If you would be so kind as to send my info to the accounts department as I see we will have a pre-paid bar refund coming and I haven’t heard from them. I will defiantly keep your contact information and work with you again if I have another event in London or if any of our offices in the London area may require such an event.

The boat was punctual and looked very nice especially the dining deck. Everyone enjoyed the route we took and seeing the sights. We had originally asked the skipper to go towards Greenwich but he advised to go west and we were very glad that he did. Nice friendly staff. The food was very well presented and cooked, and delicious, with what seemed to be just the right quantities.

Thank you for all your help with the preparation and arrangements for our Dinner Cruise. We had an amazing evening, everything went according to plan and worked really well. The food was great, the view was lovely and it didn’t rain! Even the people with ‘Dietary Issues’ were happy! The team, they were really good, friendly and helpful and made our evening very special.

We had a great time last Thursday, thanks so much for an amazing evening! The food and games were brilliant, everyone thoroughly enjoyed them. My colleague who has a gluten allergy was especially impressed by the attention to detail given to her meal.

We had the most amazing day, thanks to your splendid team. Everyone was so polite and helpful and made the whole day really special. The lady who was overseeing everything on the day (forgive me her name escapes me) was a dream and made our day so special. Thanks to her we had a brilliant day. You of course were outstanding and your immense patience with all our alterations and changes of mind were outstanding thank you.

We had an excellent time on-board. Feedback from customers has been fantastic - thank you very much!

We all had a fantastic time. A lot of people commented that the food was not great and they cleared it away before everybody had finished eating. I think they were satisfied enough with the free bar which made up for it. We would definitely recommend the trip and would be likely to do it again next year.

The event was fantastic, the staff were great and very efficient and everyone had a great time 

Four reasons to hire a boat in London

London is the capital of England and is in the south of the island of Great Britain. It has a long history and is one of the most important cities in the world.

The river Thames runs through London, one of the longest rivers in the UK and can be navigated. At SamBoat, you will find a variety of canal boats in London to discover the wonders of the river Thames.

London is known as a city with a very volatile climate all year round. But the best time to rent a boat in London and enjoy the good weather is during the summer season.

Chartering a boat in England will allow you to know this country in a unique and fun way.

Pricing and information about hiring a boat in London

Boat charter prices in the UK differ depending on the type of boat and the time of year. In the low season, canal boat charter prices start from 240 euros. If you are looking to charter a sailing yacht, prices start from €700 in the low season. Please note that the high season in London is in June and July; if you want to charter a boat in this season we recommend that you book your boat two months in advance. In the SamBoat catalogue, you will find various types of boats to suit your needs.

Boat Hire in London is regulated, and if you want to hire a boat you will have to follow the law. To hire a boat on the canals and rivers of the UK, you do not need to have a licence. When you rent a boat in these establishments, you will be given quick training on how to operate a boat. On the other hand, if you want to rent a boat and sail along the coast you will have to present an ICC and prove that you can recognise and read the signs and regulations.

If you have no licence or sailing experience, you can rent any boat in our catalogue with a skipper. When you rent a skippered boat you can relax and enjoy your trip. The skippers help you to get to know the places you visit by boat in depth.

Boats in London

motorboat hire london

London is the capital city of the UK, a large part of its success as a city is thanks to the River Thames; a port and centre for trade and commerce. London is also one of the most important financial centres in the world and has the second-best global air connections in the world after Dubai. The very first settlers and invaders in London built castles and forts along the Thames to protect their possessions along the river. The banks of the Thames became known as the “string of Pearls” where the most gorgeous buildings were constructed, many of which tourists still visit today. Key players in English history such as King William went on to control the Thames and William the Conqueror constructed the Tower of London, which became the gateway to the capital. From the Middle Ages, all the way to the Tudors and the Stuarts, Kings and Queens built riverside palaces you can still visit till the present day, such as Richmond Palace and Hampton Court. Entering a period of war and trade in the 16th and 17th centuries, the great City of London kept local shipbuilders busy, where sea-going vessels flourished and gave way to half of the Nation’s trade. Arriving in the 21st century, the River Thames not only has become one of the cleanest rivers in the world (also home to over 115 different species of fish) but has huge blocks of luxury apartments and has become a key area for business meetings, wedding and weekend breaks with a plethora of docks for sailing and canoeing. With a private river cruise or self-driving your way through the heart of London, you will have a memorable and delightful experience.

motorboat hire london

A luxury yacht charter in the Thames River is one of the most mind-blowing experiences any tourist can ever come across. The city provides a deep insight into historical landscapes, museums, art galleries, and a transition to lush green and culturally rich countrysides. London has a lot to offer to everyone with different tastes and moods. With an elegant yet speedy motor yacht, you can enjoy mesmerizing sights such as the London Eye Pier, Cleopatra’s Needle, The Shard, and even sail past Shakespeare’s Global Theatre.

Cruising the Thames with a meal on board is the best thing to experience when on vacation with your friends, family, and loved ones. Many cruise ships and catamarans offer luxury, mouthwatering menus to enjoy on the boats while taking in delightful sceneries. A dinner cruise will keep you in holiday mode and allow you to explore the diverse city in style. Moreover, cruise ships or skippered vessels offer informative tours about the area, a great option for the first-timers.

London city cruises allow hop-on and hop-off options between three important piers (docks): Westminster, tower, and London Eye. You can rent a motorboat or speedboat for 24 hours with the option to hop off on any of the docks and hop on again whenever you want.

If you are an art lover, you must know the best art galleries in London are the Tate Britain and the Tate Modern. If these are on your travel wish list, then a special Tate to Tate cruise can be an unforgettable experience towards your favorite art destination. You can travel between them and towards them with a narrowboat or any yacht you desire and create unforgettable memories.

If you decide to cruise the River Thames for a whole week, you can sail through central London and navigate the upper and lower channels. You will notice that the unique river runs over 90 miles from the sea to Teddington. You will also pass by the Oxford downstream and the great castles and Royal Palaces of Windsor in Maidenhead. Making your way to the Thames Barrier, you can propel your way through the fitting gateway that approaches the sea. Saint Paul’s Cathedral, Somerset House, Cutty Shark, and The Island Gardens are other interesting sights to behold. Passenger boats and yachts meander their way through the beautiful countryside, including Abingdon, Reading, Hampton Court, and Kingston. Even after all these compelling historical sites, you will spot interesting wildlife such as kingfishers, otters, and ducks from Lechlade to all sorts of marine mammals and bottlenose dolphins down at Teddington Weir. There is something for everyone in London who decides to spend their yacht charter in the Thames.

The best campervan for you

Campervan and motorhome hire in london.

Campervan and motorhome hire in London is an incredible way to explore England and beyond. Though the busy metropolis is full of sights and attractions, renting a campervan in London allows you to get out and discover the beauty of the English countryside, the picturesque landscapes, and the unique traditional heritage.

There are scenes of remarkable natural beauty just a short drive away in your campervan hire. If you're looking for inspiration, try our English heritage campervan road trip that starts in London and takes in the country's exotic sites.

When you hire a campervan from London, you can access several scenic and historical sites, like Scotland, Manchester, Edinburgh, or anywhere else in the United Kingdom.

London's National Parks

London has over 3000 green spaces. But if you want to experience the true majesty of the United Kingdom's outdoors, you'll need to escape to the countryside in your campervan hire to experience its incredible national and regional parks.

The Norfolk and Sussex broad to the east of England are a few hours away by campervan or motorhome. You can explore their unique waterways by boat, bike, or foot. Lots of history and wildlife make it a place you won't forget in a hurry.

Finally, if you take a South England campervan road trip, you can reach Dartmoor National Park. Spectacular walks, diverse wildlife, and endless waterfalls and walks make this one the best places to spend time as a family.

While not actually a national park, Epping Forest in Essex is the closest sanctuary you can reach in a campervan or motorhome hire. Biking, boating, dog walking, and relaxing are some of the best activities in this sprawling, unspoiled park.

Coastline, Lakes Rivers in London

When starting your road trip from London, there are many breathtaking coastline spots, lakes, and rivers you can reach to spend a unique day in nature.

Whitstable Beach in Kent is a time-honoured holiday destination. A rocky beach, glorious seaside views, and quaint surroundings make it worth visiting. The Tankerton Slopes and Whitstable Harbour are top attractions. There's also a Michelin-star restaurant called The Sportsman in nearby Faversham that is well worth a visit if you want to treat yourself.

Birling Gap in East Sussex is a hidden gem. But see it while you can because the coast is eating away at the cliff edge by about three metres each year. Additionally, the chalkstone Seven Sisters cliffs are worth the trip. Each cliff bears the name of one of the sisters, and it's a great spot for a hike.

Dungeness  Beach, in Kent, is another unique coastal trip worth exploring. It has a strange, desolate, otherworldly feeling that you won't find anywhere — plus delicious seafood spots. Truly unmissable.

Finally, Durdle Door beach on the Jurassic Coast is one of the most celebrated and photographed beaches in the UK. The natural limestone was named a UNESCO world heritage site in 2001, so if you're going on a campervan or motorhome hire, find time to work it in.

The South of England has some excellent lakes you can reach with a campervan or motorhome hire near London. Tilgate Park near Gatwick Airport has Tilgate Lake, which offers canoeing and boating. At the same time, Black Park Lake, Buckinghamshire, has excellent fun and games for active adventures, while Bewl Water is an 800-acre site of Outstanding Natural Beauty for a reason.

London is built on the London River Thames estuary. It travels out past Kent to the sea, and there is a lot to see and do on its banks. Lee Valley in East London offers a range of watersports, while Bowles Rocks is an excellent spot in Tunbridge Wells that offers canoeing and boating activities for the family that you can reach by campervan or motorhome hire.

Campgrounds in London

Greater London has plenty of motorhome-friendly campgrounds you can stay in for a few nights. Book ahead to make sure to have a safe and sound spot for you to spend the night is one of our top camping tips .

Norfolk Broads Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite is perfect if you find yourself east. It has many pitches and electricity points for a campervan hire, superb amenities, and an onsite restaurant.

The Barley Meadow Touring Park is worth visiting if you're in Cornwall visiting Dartmoor National Park. Great facilities and views, combined with a well-kept and well-run market, make it a must for a holiday looking for tranquillity.

The Daleacres Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite is an excellent spot for travellers. Family and dog-friendly, clean, and close to the beach, it's perfect for campervan travellers enjoying the wonderful Kent surroundings.

Daniel

We had a superb charter experience, with very friendly and helpful staff involved, ie. initial contact/booking with Marija, to check-in at Marina Baotic (admin Marin) and technical handover as well as check-out. One small issue: the starter battery of the starboard engine was depleted when checking engines during check-in, but was quickly/efficiently replaced (no waiting time)

Ivan

I recently had the pleasure of traveling with Click&Boat, hosted by Alan, and it was an incredible experience! Alan is an amazing host who went above and beyond to ensure our trip was unforgettable. His boat is exceptionally well-equipped, offering all the amenities you could need for a comfortable and enjoyable journey. From the moment we set sail, Alan's warm hospitality and extensive knowledge made us feel at ease. I highly recommend Alan and his boat for anyone looking to have a fantastic time on the water. We will definitely be booking with him again!

Matt

John, his family and friends are welcome aboard our yachts anytime. John was a pleasure to host and was polite in every one of his requests. Thank you John and sorry we couldn’t offer some good snorkeling on the last day. Cheers, Matt

Peter

We had a really great experience and a wonderful day on the water. By the day before our trip, our Skipper, Marin, was quickly in direct communication with me and we could quickly and easily agree details. I was hosting a group of business clients, so it was important for me to be able to supply them with details in advance, to reassure them and demonstrate my own professionalism and forward planning. Having a skipper was a good move as it meant instead of me having to focus on driving the boat I could relax and chat with my guests. The boat was great, worked well for us all and the route and schedule were perfect. Marin was a true professional, immediately inspired trust and made the day for us all. Thank you!

Claudio Fly Time Malta

A lovely day , enjoyed every moment with my guests. It was just so amazing , pitty the sun did not shine loads. Thanks again for choosing my boat. Regards Claudio

Ioannis

Great people, reliable tenants! The boat was returned as delivered! Perfect coordination and cooperation! Thank you for your preference and we hope to have you again soon! Our best wishes!

Andrew

Jacques was the perfect host and made our day super special. Nothing was too much trouble and he and we genuinely enjoyed each others company. The day took in everything we could have wanted and Jacques went the extra mile to make sure we all enjoyed the day. We left feeling that we had made a friend.

Steve

We had a fantastic day on this boat! Our party consisted of 4 adults and a 2 year old. And so, I had felt the Merry Fisher 795 would offer the best options for our trip e.g. a forward berth for a toddler nap if needed, toilet onboard etc. Andgelo was our very friendly and skilful skipper and we quickly chatted through our trip itinerary which was: - view Dubrovnik old town. We had explored on foot the day before but the view from the sea is all the more stunning, particularly for me, the West Harbour -swim in the v. chilly turquoise dappled waters into the Blue Cave. The boat has a fresh water shower at the bathing platform👍 - have a light lunch on the sandy beach at Kolocep - drop off at Lopud to have ice cream and explore - and to end, to take in the view of pretty Sudarad This trip was our highlight of our holiday! One thing to mention, the onboard toilet is tiny but nonetheless, usable.

At the age of 16, I was volunteering for the Red Cross of the Sea, where our goal was to assure sailing regattas. It is during that period that I learned to navigate on small boats for the first time. After 30 years, I finally got to own my first fishing boat bigger than 8 meters in length. Five years ago, a friend of mine who made his fishing boat available for charter, invited me to come aboard with him and some clients. It is then that I saw how much people appreciated the sea. So, I decided to pass my professional license to be able to take people out on the water in Mallorca.

The service that I offer is simple charters without skipper, because many people own a boat license, and our vessels are easy to handle. We are starting private excursions where we can take people on the boats to places they could not go to by themselves.

Most of the profits we make are spent on fleet upgrades. I always like to remember how thankful renters are when they are satisfied with our service.

Maribel and I would like to thank Click & Boat for their trust and service.

Regards to the entire Click & Boat team,

Chelsea to hire Brentford’s Bernardo Cueva as set-piece coach

Chelsea to hire Brentford’s Bernardo Cueva as set-piece coach

Chelsea have struck an agreement with Brentford to make Bernardo Cueva their new set-piece coach from the end of this season.

The 36-year-old Mexican joined Brentford from Chivas in September 2020 — appointed tactical statistician — and has played an important role in their progress.

Thomas Frank’s men were promoted to the Premier League for the first time in May 2021 and have become renowned throughout the game for their effectiveness from set-pieces.

Chelsea identified Cueva as the prime candidate for a role that has been vacant since Anthony Barry exited for Bayern Munich last April — and landing such a well-regarded operator will be viewed by many as a significant coup.

He is to continue to working for Brentford until the summer and then make the switch from one west London club to another.

Cueva will take charge of a department that is expected to be further bolstered as Chelsea’s sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley continue to build their set-up.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino has been consulted about the roles and supports the idea.

Cueva was recruited to Brentford by director of football Phil Giles and technical director Lee Dykes — and he becomes the latest in a growing list of backroom staff members to be poached by their top-flight rivals.

Nicolas Jover worked under Dean Smith and Frank before he left to become an assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. His replacement at Brentford was Andreas Georgson, who spent less than a year as their head of set pieces and development before he moved to Arsenal in August 2020. When Georgson left Arsenal to join Malmo, Jover then became a part of Mikel Arteta’s backroom staff.

Jack Wilson joined Brentford ahead of the 2020-21 season when they were promoted to the Premier League and left them to join City in November 2022, where he played a key role in helping them win the treble.

Gianni Vio worked at Brentford too before helping Italy win the European Championship and then assisted Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur.

'What a cheap way to hire Michael Cannon': Inside Team Penske's Indy 500 qualifying rise

motorboat hire london

INDIANAPOLIS – Four weeks away from the pressure-packed moments of Indianapolis 500 qualifying weekend Will Power and Scott Dixon were beginning to have some premonitions.

During separate press conferences across separate days at the podium in the Long Beach media center, both made bold and somewhat surprising predictions that would upend the pecking order for the run to pole – and potentially a large chunk of the grid, too.

And they were right.

For Power, he knew we’d heard him and Josef Newgarden push this same story for a half-decade, about how Team Penske had grinded over the offseason in pursuit of speed, balance and consistency for the most pressure-packed pair of days on the calendar, Indy 500 qualifying. In 2021, 2022 and 2023, those visions of bounce-back performances had fallen flat.

“But this year, I don’t think we’ve left anything on the table. I know I’ve said that for the last five years, but I haven’t said we’d be on pole. I’ve said we had a good shot,” Power told reporters April 20. “This year, I really feel like we’ve put everything together. We’ll see. I feel like one of our cars have a great shot at pole – if not, all on the front row.”

During Day 1 of qualifying Saturday , Penske’s trio of Chevy-powered machines were far-and-away the fastest at IMS, as three of just four cars that topped 233 mph on four-lap average – with a comfortable cushion on Arrow McLaren’s Alexander Rossi (4 th ) .

The next day on the stage, Dixon was tempering expectations. For three years, Chip Ganassi Racing had been the class of the field when it came to speeds over 10 miles at the Racing Capital of the World. A year ago, the race for pole was quite literally an engine manufacturer – eight Chevy-powered cars from three different teams – vs. Chip Ganassi’s four entries.

Ganassi took the top spot for the third year running .

And yet, Dixon was in Long Beach, more than three weeks before the start of 500 practice, basically begging for rain – reasoning that the less other teams could run, the less they’d be able to catch up.

This week, Dixon got his rain but, at least on qualifying performance, large chunks of the field sped past Ganassi anyways .

“In losing some of our engineers like we have over the past couple years, there’s definitely other teams that have a pretty good idea of what we do,” said Dixon, in an understated, but not entirely shielded reference to his ex-race engineer Michael Cannon’s exit to AJ Foyt Racing for the start of 2023. Ahead of this season, Foyt launched a technical alliance with Team Penske.

“That will help some other teams.”

'What a cheap way to hire Michael Cannon'

So, just how linked are these two teams’ fortunes?

An overwhelming majority of the paddock not working directly for Roger Penske point to Cannon. Dixon’s championship-winning race engineer from 2020 helped CGR break a decade-long drought at the 500 two years ago then took Foyt from qualifying 22 nd , 27 th , 30 th and DNQ in 2021 and 17 th , 28 th and 29 th for the 500 in 2022 to 4 th and 11 th 12 months later.

Though none wished to air their beliefs publicly, three rival team officials said this about Cannon having an influence on Penske starting 12 th , 14 th and 17 th a year ago to being favorites to sweep the front row Sunday:

‘No doubt.’

‘No question.’

Colton Herta flatly said it Friday, after Penske’s speed was on display following Fast Friday action.

“Yeah, I mean, what a cheap way to hire (Michael) Cannon, right? Get a deal with Foyt, and you get all your Speedway secrets for free?” the Andretti Global driver quipped before walking things back just a hair. “I don’t know. It probably helped a little bit, but I don’t know.

“You expect them to be very good here, right? And they were in 2019, 2018, but it just seemed like they got into a little bit of a hurtful spot once the aeroscreen came on. They were always fast in race. It was just outright speed they were missing, which was strange.”

Penske drivers push back

Depending on the Team Penske driver you ask, you’ll get varying levels of ‘polite’ to ‘frank’ frustration at the idea their team’s hard offseason work isn’t the source of this year’s improvement.

Scott McLaughlin, at times the most measured of the group, hinted at a win-win type of partnership. “This is a partnership that worked for both parties, and we learned a few things and they learned a few things, and here we are today,” McLaughlin said. “Everyone had the opportunity to do the same time, but I back my team leaders to make the right decisions at the right times, and they did this time.”

Power, the 2018 500 winner still in search of his first IMS oval pole, and Newgarden, the defending 500 winner, were far more assertive: the gains have come strictly in-house, with Power assuring his provisional pole run Saturday morning simply came off what Newgarden’s team found yesterday. Newgarden himself said he was running a setup from 12 months prior – before the relationship with Foyt began.

“(The technical alliance) is a little bit of it, but it’s our whole team. (Foyt and Cannon) just confirmed some stuff,” Power said.

So, drivers who claim Cannon is your secret are wrong?

“It’s not that, I can tell you that,” Power said. “It’s not that.”

Said Newgarden, when asked about Cannon’s influence on Penske’s performance on Fast Friday that continued on into Day 1 of qualifying: “I’ll say this; I’m using my exact setup from last year. We had a great, amazing car last year – one of the best I’ve ever driven around here.”

Moments later, Santino Ferrucci , the 500 wunderkind who in five starts with four different teams has five top-10s in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, was asked his perspective on the smarts of Foyt’s technical director flowing into the pair of Chevy teams’ technical alliance. When told of the Penske drivers’ reluctance to give more credit to the engineer he first worked with at Dale Coyne Racing, Ferrucci snapped.

“They’re full of (expletive),” he said.

What to know about 500 qualifying Day 1: Plenum events, Penske domination, heroic late runs

Penske's advantage: IndyCar pushrod rule change

As much 500 qualifying speed as Penske may have found over the last 12 months, an offseason rule change regulating a crucial part may have brought the field back to Power, Newgarden and McLaughlin, too -- by as much as 0.5 mph.

“(IndyCar) took away a little bit of speed with something. There’s an updated part, but people were using an old part,” Power said in April. “If they wanted to break the (qualifying record), they’d run the older part. But we didn’t use it last year.”

That part, Power revealed Saturday after posting his four-lap run of 233.758 mph that finished more than 0.4 mph clear of 2 nd -place McLaughlin (233.332 mph), was the pushrod. Essentially, Power explained, he believed other teams had been using old pushrods despite newer, more durable pushrods coming on the market.

The newer ones came with more drag.

“Every car but mine in the Fast 12 last year had that (old pushrod), so all those cars now took that 0.5 mph hit (this year),” Power said.

This year, Power and Newgarden explained, IndyCar had tightened the regulations around the pushrod specs.

“I don’t think anyone’s parts were illegal necessarily. It sounds like other teams were using old parts from 10-12-year-old cars, and we certainly were not in that camp,” said Newgarden, who continues to go out of his way to assert Team Penske’s ethics in the wake of the team’s push-to-pass scandal. “It looks like IndyCar changed that, from a safety standpoint, where they mandated you can’t use that spec anymore.

“I don’t know it’s something we had been looking for, but the irony of all this is we work really hard to stay within the rules, so if there’s anything out there that’s gray, we typically don’t touch it. That’s how we operate.”

Ganassi prioritizes race car over qualifying in rainy week

So where does that leave the three-time defending 500 polesitters who will have a day off Sunday when it comes to on-track action?

As team manager Taylor Kiel explains, this week’s rain may have been more its downfall than its savior.

“It’s just a culmination of missing a bunch of track time,” Kiel said of the team that will start May 26’s 500 14 th , 16 th , 18 th 21 st and 27 th – including five-time 500 polesitter Dixon’s worst start in the race of his career (21 st ). “It forced us to make decisions – whether to focus on our race cars or our qualifying simulations. We were surprised by the relative lack of pace we had, but we also made that conscious effort to make the race cars better.”

They are confident they’ve done that – particularly Palou, who started on pole a year ago and carved his way up from 27 th after contact in pitlane around the halfway point back up 4 th by the checkered flag. The year prior had been Dixon’s race to lose entering the final stop, before the 2008 500 winner sped on pitlane. During the race’s first run of green flag pitstops, Palou stayed out a hair too long and got burned by it. Dixon fell victim to that in 2021.

All that’s to say, when you look at where Newgarden started a year ago (17 th ) and what little Ganassi has to show for its three consecutive 500 poles, maybe CGR’s struggles will matter very little – as long as they’re once again in the hunt with 10 laps to go in a week.

“It’s been tough. After my pole last year, you expect maybe not to be on pole, but fighting for it, and we weren’t this year,” Palou said Saturday, adding that he feels no concern in CGR’s lack of straight-line pace having any material effect on his race day prospects.

“We know on race day we’re going to be much better than we are now.”
