If you live on or near a beach, or have access to water via a sidewalk or hand launch ramp, we have just the item for you, a Beach Dolly. These dollies work very well — like a miniature trailer they balance the weight over the wheels and the central support rail.  Tilt the stern end of the boat down and watch it float easily into the water.  When you’re ready to beach your boat it’s an easy glide back onto the dolly, and the weight is balanced so that almost anyone can move the boat up the incline of a beach.

It’s easier to show than tell… here’s a quick demo of launching our 10′ Navigator from a Boat Dolly:

Often you can drive your boat to a local park with a swim beach in the off season and transfer the boat from cartop rack or trailer to the dolly. A short walk down the sidewalk to the beach, and you’ve got a no-waiting boat launch. In general, parks are open to this sort of activity with wind and oar propelled boats. (Check your local park’s regulations to make sure though.)

Description

This lightweight, yet sturdy rustproof beach dolly will carry your catamaran easily over sand, rocks, mud or pavement. The Cat Trax feature strong aluminum wheel rims with two-ply pneumatic rubber tires that disperse weight and do not dig in. Air pressure can be changed to accommodate the conditions. Roller bearings give low-friction wheeling. Twenty super hard and super slick delrin roller bearings per wheel provide smooth rolling.

Cat Trax provide no-hassle, maintenance-free operation with no lubrication required, plus they cannot rust. Tough and durable ABS molded and padded end caps center the boat and hold it in line. Just pull the CatTrax under the boat using the tie down ropes and, when balanced, secure the ropes to the stays. There is no faster or simpler system. Use the same tie down ropes to secure to your trailer tongue when transporting on the road.

Choosing Axel Width:  The best way to know which axle you need is to measure the width of your boat.  All boats under 8′ wide use the 8′ Axle.  All boats between 8′ and 8’6″ need the 8′ axle.

CatTrax Beach Wheels

This is the standard cat dolly on the market today. Literally 1000’s in service around the world. Big 21” x 12” balloon tires mounted on no rust anodized aluminum rims allow your catamaran to be easily moved over sand, mud, rocks, or any surface.

2 ply tubeless rubber construction. Anodized aluminum alloy rims for superior strength and durability. Almost 10” wide, a full 2” wider than the competition. Resulting in at least 4” greater tire footprint. No plastic to deteriorate or weaken from exposure to the sun, or crack in freezing weather. 20 delrin roller bearings per wheel. Super slick, super hard. 2 more bearings per wheel than the competition. Again, less friction, rolls easier. No corrosion, just rinse. Over 100” of bearing surface per wheel. Largest rolling surface on the market. 2” anodized aluminum alloy axle, lightweight and virtually maintenance free for any environment. One piece for extra strength, no connectors or parts to lose. Optional padded fiberglass hull cradles provide extra support. Bolt through design for more security. No knobs to catch, lose, or strip. Just pull the CatTrax under the boat using the tie down ropes and when balanced secure the ropes to the stays. There is no faster or simpler system. Use the same tie down ropes to secure to your trailer tongue when transporting over the road. 2” diameter anodized aluminum axle. Available for any beam width. Axle extenders available for boats over 8.5’ wide. T-handle attachment is available to simplify movement for one person. Can be used to move from the bow or the stern.

CatTrax With Cradles

All the same features as the standard CatTrax. Hand-laid and padded fiberglass hull cradles offer protection and superior support for rounded hulls. Bolt through design for extra strength. No slipping on the axle. No gouging or damaging the axle with a thumbscrew. Tie down ropes included to prevent the boat from sliding fore or aft on the cradle. Ropes also allow the dolly to be pulled under the boat with much less effort.

3 Cradle Sizes Available

Narrow : H-20, P18-2, P19, Nacra 5.2, Nacra 5.8.

Standard : H-16, H-18, Getaway, Wave, etc.

Wide : Inter18, 20 or boats with wider rounded hulls.

Optional aluminum backing plates allow the cradles to be more easily mounted to a road trailer. Optional T-handle available. Lightweight at only 46 lbs. total.

This is the hard wheeled version of the all time favorite catamaran beach dolly. The wheels are rotationally molded polymer the never need air. It is an economical alternative to our CatTrax yet includes all the same features such as the delrin roller bearings and molded, padded end caps to help center the boat. Recommended use would be on hard surfaces. Gravel, grass, or hard packed sand will offer support to allow for easy movement. Not recommended for softer environments.

Dynamic Dolly, Type 3

• Dolly style allows bow of boats with a curled gunwale to hang from a specifically shaped handle fitting. Snug-fitting edge trim atop the handle fitting protects the gunwale gelcoat. Type is suitable for Sunfish, Laser 2, JY 15, and more.
• Boat-specific tube and sling lengths provide a custom fit for each boat, enabling a balanced handle load and easy maneuvering.
• All joint fittings are through-bolted and designed for increased torque stability.
• Strong, 3” non-stretch, polyester sling provides wrap-around boat support.
• Adjustable, flexible V-fittings on bow and tongue tubes provide boat support forward of the sling and prevent boat and aluminum contact.
• Eyelets on sling and handle fittings facilitate securing boat to dolly in storage, on trailers or in racks. Tie-down with the handle fitting eyelet helps prevent slippage on steep ramps.
• Easy dolly breakdown using the snap buttons on wheel shaft and tongue tubes, as well as wing nuts on axle tube cross fitting.
• Pneumatic, non-corrosive, 16” x 4” wheels can be secured on wheel shaft with provided screws for added security. For soft sand conditions, tire pressure can be reduced to increase tire footprint.

UTM or Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate system divides the Earth’s surface into 60 longitudinal zones. The coordinates of a location within each zone are defined as a planar coordinate pair related to the intersection of the equator and the zone’s central meridian, and measured in meters.

Elevation above sea level is a measure of a geographic location’s height. We are using the global digital elevation model GTOPO30 .
