POP Yachts and RVs brokerage business model is different than most Boat Brokers. When your boat is for sale with POP Yachts and RVs brokerage you get to use your boat or RV while we market it for you. Don't let you're for sale boat or RV sit on a lot or in a marina while you make payments.
Enjoy your boat and RV while you are trying to sell it by listing it with POP Yachts and RV brokerage.
If your boat or RV is for sale with POP Yachts and RVs brokerage you still have the ability to sell your boat or RV on your own and not pay POP Yachts and RVsbrokerage a commission. You only pay POP Yachts and RVs brokerage a commission if we procure the buyer through our marketing efforts or if the buyer is procured by one of POP Yachts and RVs brokerage or through a Co-Boat Broker agreement.
POP stands for "Paid on Performace". There is no cost to you unless we sell your unit.

What happens if you don't get approval for financing?
Thanks for the question! There are indeed only two methods of purchasing a boat, cash or finance. If you cannot get approved for financing, you'll have to have the cash. There are a number of great sources of boat financing, including JR Bates at… more

The team that sold my boat was great. The best part of this whole encounter was they got me more...much more than what I paid for the boat 14 years ago!!! Laurie, Joe, Rusty, Lauren.....Great job!!! LOU M.
We had an R.V that we owed a lot of money on and we really wanted to sell it. Boy am I lucky to have found Pop Rv and Yachts. When we listed our camper I was so negative and told the salesman that I felt guilty wasting his time that I knew my camper would not sell. Bill our salesman assued me not to worry and he promised he would get it sold. Wow was I surprised when I got that text message 3 months later saying my expensive camper was sold. I was in disbelief and so excited. Now I am payment free and loving life. So if you need your R.V or yacht sold this is the only place to bring your business I highly recommend them. Everyone was so kind and professional.
Hell NO All they want is your deposit and that's where their work stops I wanted to pay straight up but they wanted money sent to bunch of questionable places first. Just don't trust them
Pop Yacht was very bad about returning calls from buyer and from seller. We listed our boat for sale prior to listing with Pop using social media and other boat marketing tools online. Per our conversation and also on our contract with Pop, SELLER MAY SALE BY OWNER. We sold by owner prior to getting an offer from Pop. The offer through Pop was not a for sure sale as the buyer had not seen nor had the boat inspected and would not be able to do so for weeks, but yet Pop considered the buyers contract to be legit and was VERY angry we did not agree to sell to their buyer. MONTHS later they retaliated and brought a law suit to us for "lost commission". Pop is very bullyish and unprofessional. After reading all the other reviews online on numerous review sites including BBB Better Business Bureau, I can see they have been at this and use their bully ways then hide behind attorneys to continue to harass RV and boat owners for lost commission, even after their bad business dealings being known across the internet. Appears to be no business sense, but only greedy - money hungry devourers with no limits. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD TO ALL YOUR BOAT AND RV FRIENDS!!!! I would like to see this company suffer a class action lawsuit. Maybe I'll check into this.
Kenneth was great and kept me informed on any potential buyers. He was very personable on the water trial run and Tony was also great to work with. Overall my experience was great.
I enlisted the services of POP RV and couldn't be more pleased with the support across the board I received...from Kim T. My sales team, to the closing team, all aspects of marketing, sales and closing went flawlessly. Both myself and the new buyer are 100% satisfied. They don't fluff what you want to sell, and do their due diligence. If you want to sell quickly at a mutually agreed price, this iscthe only way to go...total turn-key.
They seem to be to busy to even return emails! I was looking to purchase a boat and the representative was very responsive. Unfortunately, the boat had issues which seemed to be left out of the info so waisted a day traveling to see a boat that was more of a project than it was worth. Tried to sell my boat with them and they published an add that was embarrassing. Over two weeks have passed and the add still is not finished. Save your self the time and frustration, shop local!
The crew at POP yachts is incompetent at best. DO NOT BUY A BOAT ASSOCIATED WITH POP YACHTS. As soon as you send the down payment (typically 10% of sale price) that money is gone. That is the commission to POP Yachts and you will be hard pressed to get it back for any reason. What they dont know is I got in contact with the seller halfway through the sale and brokered the entire deal myself. They deserve none of the money the collected on this sale. This will be a in depth review so POP Yachts and everyone who wants to know can see how bad they suck. And by the way this was my first boat purchase. The closing agent Ana Valdez was nice but she had no idea what she was doing and took forever (days) to get back to anyone. This boat was about 15 hours away from me so I would have had to make a 2 day trip out to pick it up. To start off POP Yachts didn't know whether or not this was a dealer sale or private sale which made things difficult to start with. Ana told me dealer sale I said ok and call my bank to tell them. Then I start collecting info from POP Yachts to give to my bank. On 5/28 I singed papers to buy the boat and wire a 5k down payment (stupid me) to POP Yachts. The closing was set for 6/5. I ask Ana if this is a private sale or dealer sale because my bank needs to know. She says dealer sale. Ok... 6/2 Ana calls to tell me the seller will be out of town the day before I'm supposed to leave. Closing date moves to 6/11. Not that big of a deal. 6/2 Ana still has not removed my dad from the closing documents even though I told her many times on the phone and in the email that he is not associated in the deal in any way. 6/3 Ana calls to ask why my dad hasn't signed any documents. I tell her again because he isn't buying the boat. 6/5 I finally received the buyers documents updated and ready to be signed. And I ask Ana for a copy of the title which should be in POP yachts name because its a dealer sale as she stated. "Oh no we dont have the title" she says. So then I explain to her the difference between the two. 3 days of no calls/emails for both me and the seller. 6/8 I got sellers drivers license that I asked for last week (6/5) to send to my bank for loan info. I still need lots of other documents form Ana who is refusing to give them to me and so I ask her for the sellers Phone number so I can do her job and she refuses that too. 6/8 I found out who the seller was and got his phone number. He is a very nice smart man and he was easy to work with. He told me that he made it clear to Ana before she made the agreement that he would be out of town for the closing agreement about a week (5/28) before she let me know. (Ana claimed that she just found out that day (6/2)). He also said Ana takes about 4 days to get back to him. 6/8 The seller and I decide we will not go through POP Yachts because I still have a mountain of documents to collect (sellers titles, his wife's death certificates because she is on the title, sign and mail a bill of sale from my bank to him and back because my bank will only write a check to whoever is on the title of the boat and not POP Yachts thank god) and get before closing in 3 days. 6/8 The seller calls his agent to say he wants to take his boat off the market and not sell it. (which is a lie and I know its wrong but the incompetence was going to ensure this deal never happened. The Agent who I believe is Jim Munnell says there is no way to back out of the deal and threatens legal action against the seller should he back out (They already have my 5k wire transfer and do not want to let it go). He calls me back and says that he can't get out of the deal. From now until the closing I am calling my bank setting up bill of sale documents acquiring the copies of the titles which Ana would not give up to trailer and boat so my bank can verify the seller. Also acquiring his wife's death certificate and he was kind enough to include his will also for my bank to see. 6/10 I ask Ana after finally getting her on the phone if she needs any more documents from me to close and she says no but she does need a payment of $389 for closing costs. I think I actually laughed into the phone. I told her I wasn't going to pay it and they can take it out of the 5k of mine they already have. 6/11 I get a call from a closing manager who's name I dont remember. His Phone number ends in 7355 for POP Yachts to find him by. He understands I have been asking for a manager since 6/8 because Im not happy with the service and not willing to pay the $389. I explain the situation and he agrees I have several legitimate complaints. He then tells me they feel like they have earned the $389 because seller tried to back out of the deal and they got him to barley stay with it and they JUST found out his wife had passed and she is on the title. I said cool I'm about 3 days ahead of you. He hung up.
READ THE REVIEWS FIRST. I was a fool for not checking reviews into this very shady company before wasting my time. Find a dealer, find a seller, find another company, find anyone but these shady guys. They won't return calls when it's important and they'll send you so much spam you drown.
Pop Yachts promised a worry free closing on my boat and they delivered. I did not purchase the boat through Pop Yachts, but used their closing service. They made me comfortable with the process and the boat seller was glad to use the services as well. They handled the escrow account and getting necessary signatures. They even helped get final state specific paperwork that I had forgotten to get signed by the seller two months after the closing. Hannah was awesome and patient, walking us through the process. Now that I have my new boat, I will be using them to close on my old boat once I sell it.

Often overlooked in favor of Tampa to the north and Miami to the south, Sarasota, on Florida’s Gulf Coast, is a laid-back city that seems content to keep its white-sand beaches out of the spotlight. The city of 55,000 has long been home to the Ringling museum complex , set on a picturesque bay, where visitors can find artworks by Peter Paul Rubens, Titian and El Greco, and a circus museum. There’s plenty for nature lovers, too: Spot alligators, manatees and dolphins; meander beneath stately banyan trees; and take a kayak for a spin through the wild mangroves. These days, the city is abuzz with developments, including an expansion of the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens and the opening of a 1920s house-museum in Newtown, the city’s historic Black district.
Recommendations
- Siesta Beach , the pride and joy of locals, offers miles of soft sand that’s great to lounge or stroll on, as well as expansive views of the Gulf.
- The Ringling is a complex of museums and gardens where visitors can discover such delights as a 3,800-square-foot model of an early 20th-century circus.
- Meliora captures the high-low spirit of Sarasota with unfussy decor and sophisticated seafood dishes.
- Kayak tours from Kayaking SRQ and Liquid Blue Outfitters take visitors through mangroves and Sarasota Bay, providing the chance to spot dolphins, manatees, starfish, crabs and more.
- At Myakka River State Park , a kayak rental will get you up close and personal with alligators.
- Newtown Alive offers trolley tours that trace the struggles and successes of residents of Sarasota’s historic Black neighborhood.
- Leonard Reid House is a new museum in Newtown that was once the home of one of the city’s first Black settlers.
- Marie Selby Botanical Gardens has a new gallery with living specimens from the Gardens’ collection of 35,000 preserved plants, a conservatory with displays of flowering orchids and walkways shaded by banyans, ficus and mangroves.
- Lakewood Ranch Farmers’ Market offers live music, food stands and various events for kids, like arts and crafts or storytelling.
- Shack , a popular fitness studio, runs jam-packed yoga and pilates classes.
- Phillippi Creek Oyster Bar is a seafood lover’s paradise, with peel-and-eat shrimp, lobster tails, calamari, oysters and, for those inclined, fried gator.
- Project Coffee , a vegan cafe with several locations in Sarasota, has a menu that adds a little fun to brunch classics, like a frozen açaí bowl with cornflakes and black-sesame crumble.
- Sage , a restaurant inside a historic 1926 building that once housed the Sarasota Times newspaper, has a swanky rooftop bar with live music on Fridays.
- Siesta Key Oyster Bar has festive cocktails and live music nightly.
- Gilligan’s Island Bar has a loungey backyard with swings; pop, disco and reggaeton tunes set a dancey vibe.
- The Resort at Longboat Key , renovated in 2020, sits on 410 acres of land on a barrier island off Sarasota. Besides a private beach, the hotel has its own golf course, tennis gardens and a spa. Rooms start at $999 a night.
- Kompose Hotel , near the airport, allows guests to book a room at a base price and pay for customizations, like use of the pool and jacuzzi ($5 per day), or the Peloton bike ($10 per hour); a sauna session ($35 per person); or accommodating a dog ($75 per stay). Rooms start at $250.
- Timberline Glamping Co. offers luxury tents in Oscar Scherer State Park equipped with linens, rugs, lamps, electric outlets, heating or air-conditioning, mini fridges and Keurig coffee makers. The site provides hammocks, a charcoal grill, a wood fire pit and a picnic table. There’s a shared bathhouse with toilets and showers. Tents from $169.
- For short-term rentals , look in the Alta Vista or Laurel Park neighborhoods for proximity to Sarasota’s downtown at reasonable prices. Rentals on Siesta Key, a barrier island connected to Sarasota by two bridges, are more expensive, but offer easy beach access, free trolley service and small town charm.
- The best way to get around Sarasota is by car , whether it's a rental or via ride-hailing apps like Uber and Lyft. An on-demand ridesharing service called Breeze OnDemand runs in downtown Sarasota, on Siesta Key, on Longboat Key and on Lido Key, and costs $2 per person; book through the app . Free trolleys run along Siesta Key and Lido Key, and between Lido Key and downtown Sarasota. Track the Lido Key trolleys with the Bay Runner app . The Siesta Key Breeze trolley runs approximately every half hour.

Angelo's Seafood Restaurant
5 Mashes Sands Road, Panacea; 850-984-5168; open Wednesday-Sunday all year; angelospanacea.com
Perched on pilings at the edge of Ochlockonee Bay in Panacea about 30 miles from Tallahassee, Angelo's has weathered its share of storms. Built and rebuilt, with a major update after Hurricane Dennis in 2005, the restaurant has been serving fresh seafood with a Greek flair since 1945. On a recent Saturday visit, the lines were already forming ahead of the 4:30 p.m. opening and the wait for a table was over an hour. But when you can sit on the breezy deck with a cold beverage and watch the water ripple and the gulls cackle it's all part of the Panhandle's "Forgotten Coast" charm.
Favorites include Broiled Flounder and Broiled Heads-on Shrimp. Other specialties are Angelo's Oysters, Char Grilled Octopus, Whole Char Broiled Snapper, Grouper Fingers and Greek Trim Side Salad. Seafood comes fried, broiled, char broiled and Greek style. Steak and chicken options satisfy non-seafood lovers, and rich pasta dishes like Alfredo, Shrimp Feta and Shrimp Scampi are tasty options. The grouper sandwich is terrific. — Martha Gruender, Tallahassee Democrat

Atlas Oyster House and The Fish House
600 S. Barracks St. , Pensacola; 850-470-0003; fishhousepensacola.com
The Fish House's upscale dockside dining experience overlooking Pensacola Bay and Seville Harbor isn't one to be forgotten. Grab drinks and a view on The Deck, or head inside for elevated dining. Diners will find fresh, daily seafood, house-smoked meats and sushi. The most famous dish of all is Grits á Ya Ya - a plate comprised of spiced Gulf jumbo shrimp spinach, portobello mushrooms, applewood-smoked bacon, garlic, shallots, cream and smoked Gouda cheese grits - that celebrities from all over the world have popped in to taste with photographs on the wall to prove it.
While Atlas Oyster House is The Fish House's sister restaurant next door, shared deck with a sunset soaked waterfront view and all, executive chef Jason Hughes has transformed the menu to make the restaurant a destination of its own. At Atlas, you can expect to see creative, off-the wall options, like Bloody Mary oyster shooters and Maine lobster corn dogs. Atlas is a gem for fresh seafood, with options ranging from raw and baked oysters, to ceviches, chilled seafood towers, sushi rolls, seared snapper, lobster rolls, Gulf shrimp, steamed Florida clams and more. However, the land dishes are second-to-none as well, including a roasted chicken, filet mignon, pork chop, burgers and even a house duck pastrami Reuben. — Brittany Misencik, Pensacola News Journal
Beach Bistro
6600 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach; 941-778-6444; beachbistro.com
Boasting decades of history and myriad accolades, Beach Bistro excels at fine dining done Florida-style. Secure a table on the soft white sands of Anna Maria Island, located just south of Tampa Bay, and watch the waves gently crash on the shoreline while indulging in a fabulous five-course tasting menu. It begins with a mini-cocktail and an equally sublime shot of ice cream, and somehow, only gets better from there. Choose from iconic local dishes like the Lobstercargots and Bistro Bouillabaisse, or opt for my personal favorite, the grouper grenobloise. — Wade Tatangelo, Florida Region Dining & Entertainment Editor

Benny’s on the Beach
10 S. Ocean Blvd., Lake Worth Beach, 561-582-9001, BennysontheBeach.com
This Palm Beach County favorite is perched on the Lake Worth Beach pier and surrounded by sea breeze and sweeping views. But that’s not the only thing that makes Benny’s on the Beach so classically coastal Florida. The menu completes the waterfront ideal.
That’s thanks to executive chef and co-owner Jeremy Hanlon, a Daniel Boulud protégé . His menus at Benny’s Pier location — as well as Benny’s newer Oceanwalk space just steps away — offer a bounty of fresh fish and seafood dishes, seafood bakes, fried whole snapper and just great beach food like mahi mahi tacos, conch fritters and fish dip. There’s plenty for those who crave burgers and Cuban sandwiches as well.
While the people-watching is good here — Benny’s has become a regular lunch spot for rocker Jon Bon Jovi — the seascape is not too shabby. — Liz Balmaseda, The Palm Beach Post

Boshamps Seafood & Oyster House
414 Harbor Blvd., Destin; 850-424-7406; boshamps.com
Located on Destin harbor, Boshamps is the culmination of more than 40 years in the restaurant business. Allen and DeeDee Phillips offered white-tablecloth dining in Destin for nearly 30 years at the Flamingo Cafe. But with Boshamps, their son Miller has gotten rid of the tablecloths and ties, and now offers a more casual, comfortable dining experience with Gulf to Table southern cuisine.
“Our most popular item is our Snapper Destin,” Miller said. “That dish has been in our family for over 40 years. It was created in the '80s at mom and dad's restaurant, the Flamingo Cafe, and has been tweaked and perfected to the Snapper Destin we know today.” Snapper Destin features a little bit of everything the Gulf has to offer. It is made with fresh snapper, lump crab, Gulf shrimp, house-made collard greens and mashed potatoes. They also offer corn and crab chowder that was the original recipe from the Flamingo Cafe. — Tina Harbuck, Destin Log

Doc Ford's Rum Bar and Grille
Sanibel Island, Fort Myers Beach, St. Pete Pier and Jungle Terrace St. Petersburg; docfords.com
No trip to the west coast of Florida is complete without dining and drinking at Doc Ford's Rum Bar and Grille, which offers four waterfront locations with outdoor seating from Sanibel Island to St. Petersburg. Named after the hero in local author Randy Wayne White's bestselling series of crime fiction books and co-owned by White, Doc Ford's offers a bright, beach-y sports bar setting elevated by gourmet finger foods and brilliant boat drinks. Highlights include the Cuban black bean dip, fresh fish entrees such as the Macadamia Nut Crusted Grouper, and their tasty and potent rum-laced libations like the Sanibel Sunset and Doc's Cure. In September, Doc Ford's was ranked the No. 1 "Everyday Eats Restaurant" in the U.S. by Tripadvisor. — Wade Tatangelo, Florida Region Dining & Entertainment Editor

Island Gypsy
292 Capri Blvd., Naples; 239-394-1111; theislandgypsy.com
If any restaurant in Naples is worthy of a "quintessentially Southwest Florida" title, it's the Island Gypsy. When explaining to a local restaurant group CEO why I love the ultra-casual Gypsy so much, I said the food is so much better than it has to be given the lovely waterfront setting. My usual order is a lobster Reuben, but the cheeseburger and grouper sandwich are pretty great, too. My husband and brother-in-law usually opt for a fish special. Don't miss out on onion rings, a worthy upcharge, and the legendary carrot cake that seemingly weighs as much as a newborn; both are perfect for sharing. Reservations via Resy, but it’s hard to find any time available after 5 p.m. through May. Don’t let that stop you from adding your name to the list upon arrival — even when there’s more than 50 milling ahead of you. Grab a tropical cocktail and chill while waiting because tables turn quickly. Outdoor seating only. Open daily. ‒ Diana Biederman, Naples Daily News
Lucky Shuck
1116 Love St., Jupiter, 561-532-3331, LuckyShuckJupiter.com
When I want to dine by the water, my thoughts drift to the beach, someplace by the ocean. Then I remember the Jupiter Lighthouse, and head to the cluster of restaurants that offer some of the most iconic Palm Beach County waterfront vignettes: the lighthouse, the surrounding waters and the passing boats.
There are several waterfront restaurants on Jupiter Inlet, and all of them have their charms. I find Lucky Shuck Oyster Bar & Taphouse to be a good pick for its extensive, seafood-focused menu, raw bar and pub-grub options. (The fresh catch of the day is a nice choice, as the fishing boats unload nearby.)
The restaurant is part of the Charlie & Joe’s at Love Street waterfront complex, which is co-owned by football icon and local resident Joe Namath .
Broadway Joe fans may want to know there’s a burger here in his honor. The Broadway Burger is topped with cheddar, fried green tomatoes, grilled red onion, gem lettuce and rémoulade and served on a brioche bun. It comes with a side of lighthouse views! — Liz Balmaseda, The Palm Beach Post

Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant
760 Broadway St., Longboat Key; 941-383-2391; marvistadining.com
There might not be a more enchanting waterfront dining experience in Florida than being seated at the wrought-iron tables located under the buttonwood trees overlooking Sarasota Bay at Mar Vista, which also offers a charming covered deck for seating that overlooks the restaurant's 14-slip dock. To complement the Old Florida setting with more than 100 years of history , Mar Vista serves delectable Southern cuisine including the Lemon & Herb grouper entrée that features a fresh filet of fish covered in a superior beurre blanc, served with a side of smartly seasoned rice and delectable sausage made from Florida wild boar via Shogun Farms in Seffner. Local resident Ed Chiles, son of former Gov. Lawton Chiles, owns Mar Vista along with the nearby Anna Maria Island waterfront restaurants Beach House and Sandbar . — Wade Tatangelo, Florida Region Dining & Entertainment Editor
5971 Silver King Blvd., Unit 114, Cape Coral; 239-984-2453; nextdoorcape.com
It’s easy to forget Next Door is a waterfront restaurant. Yes, the intimate, chic, year-old Cape Coral venue has unobstructed views of docks and boats in Tarpon Point Marina. And yes, breathtaking sunsets are often reflected in the rippling water of Glover Bight. But the moment dishes of homemade pasta and seafood begin to arrive at your table, your focus shifts. The colors and textures creatively arranged on those plates in front of you are more spectacular than the waterfront view. You’ll sit transfixed from the first bite of amuse bouche to the last taste of Jessica Shoemaker’s towering layer cakes. If we had to choose between Chef John Hill’s sunset ravioli with gorgonzola dolce, walnuts and a roasted squash velote or watching the sun set over the marina, 10 out of 10 times we're taking the pasta. Go for the waterfront views, but keep coming back for the food. — Robyn George, The News-Press
Outriggers Tiki Bar and Grille
200 Boatyard St., New Smyrna Beach; 386-428-6888, outriggersnsb.com
Outriggers Tiki Bar and Grille is as it claims, a taste of the “ultimate Florida lifestyle.” With an expansive covered deck overlooking the water and passing yachts, this popular tiki bar and grill feels easygoing and beachy, yet altogether classy, captivating and carefree. From its first-rate service and live entertainment to its sunset dock views and artfully crafted cuisine, Outriggers is my “taste of Florida” go-to when visitors are in town or when I'm simply craving a sunny Sunday afternoon bite. Its menu of mostly seafood plates includes the peel-and-eat shrimp; crispy crab and lobster cake sandwich; marina tacos; Korean BBQ Sticky Ribs — crispy, fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs smothered in a rich, sticky Korean BBQ sauce and accompanied by bamboo rice and house-made kimchi; and walnut-encrusted fresh catch — a thick, flaky serving of fresh swordfish topped with pineapple and peppadew rum butter and served with creamy red bliss mashed potatoes and perfectly crispy, caramelized Brussels sprouts. — Helena Perray, The Daytona Beach News-Journal

Pop's Sunset Grill
112 Circuit Road, Nokomis; 941-488-3177; popssunsetgrill.com
Pop's offers a tropical getaway along the Intracoastal Waterway by the Albee Road Bridge connecting Casey Key to Nokomis in south Sarasota County. Originally opened as Urbanek’s Fish Camp in 1954, Pop's produces a winning combination of Old Florida charm and modern features, such as the three-level, full-liquor tiki bar. While stopping by Pop's for libations and daily live music is always fun, be sure to bring your appetite. Personal favorites include the smoked mahi spread, fresh grouper cooked on the open-flame grill , and a veggie skewer that is not to be dismissed. — Wade Tatangelo, Florida Region Dining & Entertainment Editor
Singleton's Seafood Shack
4728 Ocean St., Mayport , singletonsseafood.com
For more than a half-century, Singleton’s Seafood Shack has attracted residents, tourists – and even celebrities – to the shoreline of the St. Johns River in historic Mayport Village. Owner Dean Singleton carries on the tradition started by his parents, Capt. Ray and Ann Singleton, in 1969: serving up some of the area’s freshest seafood, including Mayport shrimp, unloaded by local anglers at the dock just steps away from the restaurant. Food Network star Guy Fieri showcased Singleton’s signature Minorcan chowder, blackened sheepshead, fried gator tail and his mom's classic shrimp burger in a 2010 episode of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." During the pandemic, the restaurant underwent extensive renovations, including improvements to an outdoor dining area that offers views of the river and its traffic of local ships, cargo ships and the St. Johns River Ferry, which operates just a few hundred yards away. - Gary T. Ski Beach Bar & Grill
1 Dozier Circle, Leesburg; 352-973-0793; skibeachleesburg.com
Ski Beach offers a beautiful view of Lake Harris and a clever array of Floribbean foods mixed with Cajun elements and a blend of contemporary Caribbean-Southern fare. The décor recalls a backyard shanty with waterfront gear, most strikingly those signature water skis that the lake is known for. Skis are everywhere at this eatery, which covers 9,600 square feet on the docks of Lake Harris. If you're feeling decadent, try the Cajun sweet fried chicken, which features tender boneless chicken breasts that are deep-fried in a secret batter and fried crispy with sugar and spicy seasoning and comes served with smashed potatoes and coleslaw. Or try an option that is just as flavorful but not as caloric: the redfish filet finished with crawfish in ham cream sauce and served over Balaya rice. If you have room for dessert, consider their bread pudding with vanilla ice cream, praline sauce and pecans. — Julie Garisto, Leesburg Daily Commercial

Star Fish Company
12306 46th Ave. W., Cortez; 941-794-1243; starfishcompany.com
Nestled along Sarasota Bay in the fishing village of Cortez, Star Fish Company offers exceptional Gulf seafood with a generous serving of Old Florida charm. Credit Karen Bell, a third-generation Cortezian dedicated to preserving her family's commercial fishing heritage. She not only owns Star Fish and its adjoining fish market, but also a fleet of commercial fishing boats and the adjacent “fish house.” While dining at her dockside restaurant boasting a century of history, you'll be captivated by the fishermen working alongside seabirds and the occasional dolphin. Star Fish serves expertly prepared Florida favorites like grouper, shrimp and oysters. However, the restaurant is particularly renowned for its mullet, a fish best enjoyed fried or blackened with a side of cheese grits. Stumpknockers on the River

No ocean? No problem. Situated off State Road 200 at the Marion/Citrus County line, Stumpknockers is a great place to kick back, hang out and chow down on classic Florida seafood and freshwater specialties. This is old-school Southern cooking with a casual and laid-back feel — the kind of place that invites you to sit down and hang out for a while. Tucked among the trees on the north bank of the Withlacoochee River, the rustic riverside hideaway is perfect if you want a secluded place to go for a balmy afternoon among friends. The name comes from the Stumpknocker freshwater fish, which is an insectivore in the sunfish. But at Stumpknockers the house special is catfish: hand-rolled in Stumpknockers’ cornmeal breading and fried to golden, crispy perfection, then served with corn on the cob, hush puppies and potatoes. — Angela Durrell, correspondent, Ocala Star Banner

Brevardians may know this location as the old Captain Katanna’s. Now it’s a sunny, tiki-hutted, revitalized restaurant with views of the Indian River. An added bonus: you can arrive by boat and park right at the restaurants' docks. There are plenty of gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options if your dining group has varying needs. The extensive menu includes dishes like seafood bruschetta, salmon and shrimp penne alla vodka, Caribbean fish tacos and much more.
