Sprite Island

Sprite Island Yacht Club (SIYC) is a small private club on one of the most picturesque islands on Long Island Sound. It is located just off the shores of Norwalk and Westport. Sprite Island offers moorings for large boats and dry sail for small personal watercraft. It also boasts a beach, snack bar, lawn area with grills and fire pits. The active social calendar includes weekly sailing events, happy hours and kids activities. Members can also enjoy large full island gatherings that include the best seats for the 4th of July fireworks, a formal opening and closing ceremony and an authentic New England clam bake. As a member-run club there are many ways to get involved and meet lots of people.

Sprite Island Yacht Club is a small private club on one of the most picturesque islands on Long Island Sound. It is just off the Westport Norwalk shore. Sprite offers an abundance of beautiful natural facilities and the relaxed and congenial companionship of many good friends.

The seven-acre island is one of the highest points on the Connecticut shoreline. The island was formerly a private estate and still contains several small buildings. It has lovely lawns, flowering bushes, beautiful trees, and a long picket fence that formerly surrounded the once-magnificent mansion. The bathing beach is large and fronts on clear clean water that is perfectly safe for bathing. The gentle slope of the shore makes it particularly suitable for small children.

The island serves as a convenient headquarters for summer activities including sailing, swimming, picnicking and enjoying family and friends. Many of our members do not own boats and instead come to use the private beach, enjoy the green lawns and beautiful picnic spots. The camping areas above the rocky cliffs offer breathtaking views of the Norwalk Islands.

Sprite is a family-oriented club and highlights activities that will bring everyone out to participate. The Opening Day flag-raising ceremony begins the official season. Sprite fills the summer with daytime, evening and weekend events such as barbecues, Fourth of July festivities, moonlight dances and an old fashioned New England clambake.

Sprite Island Yacht club offers mooring space, drysail for Sunfish, kayaks, catamarans and other small boats. There is a series of weekend regattas for the sailing enthusiast whether he’s a novice or a pro. There are cookouts, sleep-outs, and a busy snack bar to serve all hungry family members. For the little ones, there’s plenty of room to roam, a million fish to catch, shells to collect, and lots of sand to build castles. Over the winter, members continue to get together to plan for the next season or just to say.

DESCRIPTION

Paddler's checklist, general information.

Often described as one of Fairfield County’s best-kept secrets, this private island is located a mere quarter mile off the Westport coast.  It is home to Sprite Island Yacht Club (SIYC), which permits Sea Kayak Connecticut groups to land and tour the many amenities the island has to offer. The unique features of Sprite Island include swim beaches, scenic overlooks, a food concession, and water taxi service. This half-day guided tour begins on the protected waters of the Saugatuck River, meanders through mooring fields in the Saugatuck Basin, and includes a short jaunt across the open waters of Long Island Sound. It is suitable for beginner paddlers.

– It is recommended that clients arrive 30 minutes early to check in; get properly fitted for paddles, kayaks, and life jackets; pack essentials, and receive an overview of the route.

– Our single-person sea kayaks and pedal kayaks are comfortable, stable, and ideal for paddlers of all skill levels.

The following items have been put together to help ensure that your paddling experience with us is comfortable, safe, and enjoyable. All items are required. Please make sure you have these items well in advance of your scheduled lesson or tour.

• A completed digital SKCT Liability Waiver and Release form. •Shoes that can get wet (any shoes, not flipflops, that will stay secured to your feet in the water) •Waterproof storage bag or box for keys, phone, camera etc. •Sunglasses with retainer strap and a Hat or Cap •Bathing Suit or Synthetic Shorts, and a Synthetic Fabric Shirt (Please avoid wearing cotton) •Windbreaker/light-weight rain jacket, Large beach towel and a Dry change of clothes •Water resistant sunscreen, a snack, and a large bottle of water •Allergy medications for all severe reactions – bee stings, asthma, peanut allergies, etc.

Reservations

Reservations are required for all programs and may be made online or over the phone. Payment is due in full at the time of the reservation. We accept all major credit cards.

Cancellations

Cancellations with  48 hours or more notice before the program start time will receive a full refund. Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice will result in forfeiture of the entire program fee. In the event that Sea Kayak Connecticut cancels a class or a tour due to lack of minimum enrollment, severe weather, or an emergency, clients may opt to reschedule their program or receive a full refund. 

All scheduled programs will run rain or shine. A few sprinkles won’t keep us off the water, so please pack a light rain jacket if showers are in the forecast. Should Sea Kayak Connecticut determine that the weather conditions are unsuitable for an upcoming program; we will cancel the class/tour and contact you via e-mail, text or by phone. In the event of anticipated rainy or windy conditions, our guides will make an at-the-launch decision as to whether or not to launch. Please plan on attending your program regardless of the weather in your immediate area or the forecast at the launch site.

For All Outdoor Programs you may either bring your own equipment or we’ll supply it for you at no additional charge. We do not provide discounts for bringing your own equipment. Clients may bring their own sea kayaks provided they are sea worthy, at least fourteen feet in length, have bulkheads fore and aft, sealed hatches, and perimeter deck lines. For sit-on-top programs, clients may bring their own sit-on-top kayaks provided they are sea worthy. Please contact us if you are unsure as to whether or not your equipment is suitable for one of our programs. Breathable life jackets will be provided and must be worn by all participants.

Forms including liability release forms and a confidential medical questionnaire are required for each program from each participant. Please complete all paperwork prior to arriving for your class or tour.

Age Requirement

12 Years Old is the minimum age requirement for participating in classes and tours. Please also note that we only provide singleperson kayaks for our tours and classes.

Paddle-specific clothing

Paddle-specific clothing is highly recommended for all programs. Essentially, dress as if you are going swimming. We’ll do our best to keep you high and dry but wearing the right clothes will make for a much safer and far more enjoyable paddling experience. Wearing synthetic shirts and shorts, a ball cap and pair of shoes that can get wet will make for a comfortable day out on the water.

Personal Info is asked of you so that we may properly fit you to your kayak, paddleboard, paddle, life jacket and spray skirt.

Punctuality and Preparedness

Punctuality and Preparedness are two hallmarks of Sea Kayak Connecticut. To ensure that everyone gets to enjoy every minute of the scheduled program, it is very important that clients arrive on time. Please arrive having everything on the Paddlers Checklist completed and in-hand 30 minutes prior to the program start time.

Pestovo Golf club is built in accordance with international standards and it doesn’t have any analogs in Moscow and Moscow Region. The championship course is prepared for games at the highest level — it can host prestigious major tournaments. Professional coaches of the Golf academy can teach a beginner or give valuable advice to already experienced golfers and children Academy will develop the potential of the youngest golfers.

Manila Yacht Club and Marina, Manila, Metro Manila

Established in 1927, the Manila Yacht Club and Marina is one of the oldest yacht clubs in all of Asia, and is nestled in the scenic Manila Bay. It is also near other well-known landmarks in the city, such as the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), the headquarters of the Philippine Navy, and the US Embassy. Facilities in the marina include a launching ramp and a fueling center, and the club itself is host to a restaurant and gorgeous function rooms. The Manila Yacht Club only welcomes visitors who arrive by boat, and it charges an initial security deposit of USD 750 upon arrival. Club membership is mandatory for medium and long-term mooring of boats.

Subic Bay Yacht Club, Zambales

The Subic Bay Yacht Club, which was founded in 1998, upholds itself as the country’s premier yacht club. It operates in the deepest bay in the country, and can host vessels well beyond 50 meters in length. Already benefitting from the innate beauty of the Zambales mountains surrounding it, the club hosts a number of other attractions, including its luxury accommodations, swimming pools, and its own movie theater, bowling alley, and nightclub. Those who venture outside of the club’s premises can also shop for well-priced imported goods at the Subic Freeport Zone, engage in water sports , or sign up for diving excursions.

Punta Fuego Yacht Club, Batangas

Peaceful Punta Fuego is a mecca for those who love the sport of sailing. As per its official website, the Punta Fuego Yacht Club aims to serve “a dynamic and vibrant community of boat enthusiasts and yacht owners.” This it does by playing host to a diverse population of watercrafts, from large catamarans and mono-hull yachts to small boats. Non-members of the club may use the berths for up to 3 weeks, and can refuel at the marina’s fueling station. The yacht club offers other amenities such as locker rooms, shower rooms, Internet facilities, a chart room, and a restaurant called Barracuda Bar, which serves delicious fares. Outside of the yachting crowd, Punta Fuego Yacht Club also caters to those wishing to celebrate weddings, conferences, and corporate events in their opulent quarters.

Puerto Galera Yacht Club, Oriental Mindoro

Further south, yachtsmen may moor at the Puerto Galera Yacht Club in Oriental Mindoro, an island location that’s home to tourist attractions like the Sabang Wreck dive site, lively beachfront resorts, and the Malasimbo Music Festival. Puerto Galera Yacht Club has been in operation for almost thirty years and lends services such as refueling provisions and yacht repairs from its marina. Boat owners also enjoy optimal convenience if mooring here, as they can also shop for spare parts in the nearby Batangas port.

Busuanga Yacht Club, Puerta del Sol Bay Marina, Palawan

Beautiful Palawan is a bucket-list destination for many, especially those who dream of cruising its crystalline waters. Accommodating the yachting community in this island province is the Busuanga Yacht Club, which promises secure mooring amidst breathtaking white-sand beaches. Here, each vessel will benefit from a typhoon-safe harbor, easy refueling, and direct access to transportation hubs like the New Busuanga Airport. Adjoining this marina is the Puerta del Sol Bay Resort, which offers luxurious accommodations to visitors. Iloilo Sailing Club, Arevelo, Iloilo City, Iloilo

What will round off an unforgettable visit to Iloilo, however, is an excursion to the Iloilo Sailing Club on a leisure watercraft. The club accepts visitors and encourages membership in the case of medium and long-stay mooring. It also hosts a number of amenities and activities, including a dinghy storage, a beach bar and restaurant, and classes for those who want to learn about sailing. In recent months, the Iloilo Sailing Club has also been a convenient meet-up point for big maritime events, such as the Iloilo-Guimaras Paraw Regatta and the Seafarers’ Job Fair.

Cebu Yacht Club, Mactan Island, Cebu

The historic Mactan Island in Cebu was the site of Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan’s arrival in the Philippines. Now known as a commercial hub that hosts a prolific furniture and musical instruments industries, Mactan is also the location of the Cebu Yacht Club, an institution that is beloved by the locals. Aside from being an ideal spot to restock on much-needed fuel and supplies, the Cebu Yacht Club is also a trusted club to commission for boat repairs. There’s a good vibe in this club for everybody, as it sports both luxury accommodations and a waterfront strip of restaurants that laid-back diners can frequent. MINDANAO

Holiday Oceanview Marina, Samal Island, Davao del Norte

The Holiday Oceanview Marina is a major attraction of Samal Island in Davao del Norte Province, one that welcomes Filipino and foreign yachtsmen alike to moor within its premises. The space is quite roomy, in fact, with 56 berths that can fit vessels up to 15 meters in length. The club also has a boat ramp that can accommodate boats up to 18 meters in length. The well-guarded and weather-safe marina is a gateway to some of Mindanao’s finest attractions, such as the Pearl Farm, Hagimit Falls, and Giant Clam Sanctuary.

Pleasantly surprised, service is good so is the food. Great selection of Fusion food, a mixture of Italian, Japanese, European, Asian etc. A pleasantly nice dining experience, highly recommended, a must try!

Best food, best view in Moscow. absolutely faultless from arrival to finish. Best risotto i had for many years absolutely perfectly cooked. The view on Ukrainian hotel and the white house by night is amazing

Had to wait for the food for 1.5 hours and then another 20 minutes for the check. Finally called for the manager and he offered... a 10% discount as a compensation. Simply pathetic! The food is mediocre at best. Not bad per se, but one... would expect something better considering the prices. There are many places to eat in area that are much better. Avoid this one at all costs. Food is very expensive,very pretentious, doesn't worth that money. Portions are very small. We ordered ravioli and there were 4! Four raviolis! For almost 15 euros. Then we asked to bring us dessert menu but nothing, they didn't even bothered, so we payed and left... without dessert. Very poor service for that price. More

This is a very good restaurant. The food is really good, maybe the best in Moscow. The service is also good. The view from the restaurant is great. The prices are very high.

I often visit this restaurant and must say it’s one of the best in Moscow in terms of quality and service. Staff really try hard to make sure that you are happy and satisfied. Customer service is a huge problem in Moscow but Chaika sets... a great example for others in the industry! Food is delicious and the menu has lots of options for everyone! Visited this lovely restaurant with a friend of mine. It was relaxingly warm August evening - so the place on the river seemed like a good idea. We came quite early and the restaurant was not full. The hostesses kindly offered several places to sit... and we chose to sit on the sofas. We had some wine, which was good. We struggled a bit when deciding about the food as few options (scallops) were not available. Fish on ice on display did not look very fresh. To be honest it was an unusually hot August and it is probably understandable that some see food options were not available. However, we did manage to order something and sat waiting and looking onto the river. My long-legged friend struggled sitting at the low sofa and the manager noticed that, offering as a very good, proper table beside the open window. It was nice touch and I was very pleased by their polite observations and immediate reaction to solve the problem. Food was quite good and presentation was perfect. Perhaps I can something about the food, but 1 visit is not enough to criticize or make a definitive opinion. Overall, quality place, which of course, does not come cheap. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. More

The luxurious atmosphere of this place, the view and the location make it quite outstanding. We had dinner here with friends and the dishes were amazing, accompanied by a chilled bottle of Chablis, it really made me feel as if it was a part of... the classic Russian movie. More
