Sailing Itineraries from Preveza

Charterers from Preveza face the truly pleasant problem of having many fantastic route options to choose from, either to the south toward Lefkas and Kefalonia or to the north towards Corfu . Given the mesmerizing beauty of both routes that is a tough choice indeed if you only have one week - so take two weeks if you can! Keep in mind that Istion also maintains charter bases on both Corfu and Lefkas , special one way offers may be available, feel free to ask!

The Northern Ionian Islands

North of Preveza lies Corfu , the largest of the Ionian islands and known for being the most cosmopolitan of all. Over the course of its long history, the island has been occupied by Italian, French and English powers. A mixture of different civilizations and cultures blended together into a character that is undoubtedly Greek and truly unique .

Getting to Corfu will usually take you through the mainland ports of northern Greece including Syvota and Parga and allows you to explore the amazing islands of Paxoi and Antipaxoi along the way.

The Southern Ionian Islands

Right next to Preveza lies Lefkas with its amazing, world famous beaches and plenty of small coves to explore!

South of Lefkas are Zakynthos and Kefalonia . Both are large, well-known islands with plenty of things to do and sites to visit. In between Lefkas and Kefalonia are many smaller islands well worth a visit, including the amazing Ithaki and the smaller islands of Kalamos and Kastos .

A One Week Sailing Itinerary from Preveza

Day 1: preveza to meganissi.

Today, we set sail from Preveza, heading south through the canal that separates Lefkas island from the mainland. As we leave the canal, we see the rocky islet of Volios on our left and the castle of Agios Georgios on the mainland coast.

Consider stopping at the charming coves and beaches on the mainland coast (Aspros Gialos, Marathia, Varko beach) before continuing south. Alternatively, visit Skorpios , known for its green waters and rumored to be Jackie Kennedy's favorite island . Be aware of the thermal wind during midday hours and the Chiromytis reef near Skorpios, which requires careful navigation.

Our destination for the night is the picturesque Vathi on Meganissi island , with two docking options: the private Odyseas Marina or the small free harbor at the bottom of the bay. Depths here are suitable for various boat sizes. Enjoy traditional fish taverns, beach bars, and the natural beauty of the area. Other overnight options include Spilia , Atherinos , or Kapsali .

Day 2: Meganissi to Ithaca - Vathi

Start the day with a refreshing morning swim at Desimi Beach Bay , just 3nm west of Vathi. Next, visit the southern part of Meganisi and the famous Papanikoli Cave , named after a Greek World War II submarine. Be aware however that anchoring is not suitable in this area.

Be cautious of the thermal wind that occurs during midday hours and stronger winds near Vathi, as they arise from the central part of Ithaca island. Today's overnight destination is either Vathi , the capital of Ithaca island, or the picturesque Kioni . While Kioni offers a peaceful ambiance, beautiful beaches, and lush forest hikes, the cosmopolitan Vathi caters to those seeking more lively entertainment . Before reaching Ithaca, consider stopping at the islet of Atokos (One House Bay) for a swim.

In Vathi, there are stern or side mooring options on the southern and eastern sides of the harbor, with depths ranging from 2m to over 4m. Anchoring offshore in the bay is also possible, with depths at 10m and good holding potential, however be prepared for strong north-westerly afternoon winds. Other overnight stay options on Ithaca include Kioni , Frikes , or Pera Pigadi .

Day 3: Ithaca to Kefalonia – Agia Efimia

Begin your day with a swim at one of the beaches of Gidaki , Filiatro , or Pera Pegadi if you sail southeast of Ithaca. Alternatively, sail to the northern side of the island and cross the Ithaca-Kefalonia strait to stop for a swim at Agios Nikolaos or Afales . According to legend, the Castle of Odysseus was located in Afales, and underwater findings at 15m depth now support this claim.

Be aware of the stronger thermal effect in the strait of Ithaca-Kefalonia, with wind and waves directed from north to south. Beam reach sailing is recommended for a comfortable cruise. Exercise caution near the rocky islet of Daskalio .

Tonight's overnight stay is at the harbor of Agia Efimia in the northern part of Sami Bay . The municipal port offers water and electricity for a fee. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the enchanting Melissani Lake , approximately 5km from your mooring point. If you're up for a hike, consider the 9.5km trail to the world-famous Myrtos beach .

In Agia Efimia, dock in the northern part of the harbor with sea depths over 3m or the eastern part with depths reaching 5m. Alternatively, anchor in the bay with depths at 4m but be cautious of the bathing area at the western part of the bay. Enjoy traditional taverns and cafes just a few meters from your boat.

Day 4: Skala and Agios Nikolaos

Today, sail to Zakynthos , the southernmost destination on your itinerary. This 25nm journey features the most spectacular landscapes and natural treasures of the Ionian Sea, including Shipwreck Bay and the Blue Caves . Along the way, visit Antisamos Beach for extreme water sports and Skala Beach at the southern coast of Kefalonia for unforgettable photo opportunities.

Be prepared for stronger winds in the southernmost part of Kefalonia and exercise caution around the Kakava shallows outside Skala. Maintain an offshore distance of about 2nm from the coast.

The tranquil harbor of Agios Nikolaos offers a pleasant overnight stay, with a mesmerizing natural landscape and modern entertainment options, including traditional taverns and cozy cafes. Before docking, visit the famous Blue Caves , just 1.5 nautical miles from the harbor, and plan for a morning visit to the Shipwreck as it's nearby.

Approach Agios Nikolaos harbor either from the northern or southern side of the rocky islet of Agios Nikolaos. Avoid the south side for anchorage as it serves fishing boats and ferries. Berth on the western side, where depths are about 2m. Ensure your anchor has enough span to secure your berth during strong ripples caused by the ferry's arrival.

Day 5: Zakynthos to Kefalonia - Poros

Start your day with a morning swim at the famous Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach , one of the most iconic beaches in the Ionian Sea. Visit early, as local daily cruises can become crowded after 10 am. Be prepared for the usual early afternoon swell, even without wind. The sea depth in the area is sufficient for safe navigation and anchorage in the middle of the bay .

Tonight's destination is Kefalonia , where you have various options in the eastern part of the island. A suggested stop is the port of Poros , located 23 nm from Shipwreck beach. Near the port, below the town's square, you'll find an organized sandy beach , traditional taverns, and bars for your entertainment.

When approaching Poros , watch out for wind spirals (gusts) from the north. Avoid berthing at the large dock, as it serves daily ferries connecting Kefalonia with Zakynthos and Kyllini. Instead, dock in the south-southwest side of the harbor, where depths are over 2m and the anchor grips well on the sandy seabed.

Day 6: Kefalonia to Lefkas - Sivota

Begin your return journey from Poros to Fiskardo , crossing the Ithaca-Kefalonia strait in the opposite direction (south to north). Morning hours offer the best weather conditions for sailing. Discover hidden gems for a morning swim along the way, and if you haven't already, visit Fiskardo for lunch. You can moor in Fiskardo harbor on the south and west sides, with depths over 2.5m and 3m, respectively. If all berths are occupied, stern to the rocks on the north side, where the depth is over 3m.

Sivota , a picturesque seaside village on the southern coast of Lefkas is an ideal destination for your last night. Each tavern in Sivota provides its own floating pier for free docking, water, and electricity. According to Dörpfeld's theory, Odysseus landed in Sivota on his way back to Ithaca. Mooring in Sivota requires a safe spot at one of the floating piers owned by local taverns, with assistance generously offered by the locals upon arrival. Alternatively, you can anchor in the middle of the bay where the seabed is over 4m deep.

Day 7: Back to Preveza Marina

The last sailing day includes several popular and famous swimming spots on the western side of Lefkas island. Vassiliki Beach , in the southwestern part of the island, is known to be one of the best in the world for windsurfing. As you head further north, enjoy the waters at Porto Katsiki , Egremni , Megali Petra , and Agios Nikitas beaches, all top tourist destinations worldwide which you may visit on your return trip to Preveza Marina.

Blue Horizon

6-day Sailing Itinerary from Preveza

Preveza is based in the middle of the Ionian islands, which means that there are two options when you’re sailing out of it: you can either head North to Corfu, Paxos and Antipaxos, or head South past Lefkas to visit Kefalonia and Meganissi. For this itinerary, we’re heading South, principally because Kefalonia is the most beautiful island in Greece, so if you have the chance, you should go and see it for yourself! (But if you want to read about the places in the North Ionian area, check out our Corfu guide .)

Preveza - 6 day sailing itinerary

This itinerary is 122 nM, which should mean you’ll be sailing for around 4-5 hours a day (at an average speed of 5-6 knots), leaving plenty of time to explore the start or end points, or even just dropping the anchor in any old bay you’re heading past.

Kalamos

You;ll most likely be part of a stream of charter boats as you follow the channel south, passing the busy tourist resorts for land-folk of Nikiana and Nydri before we get to break slightly away from the beaten track by bearing South-East above and round Meganissi island to head to Kalamos town on the south side of the island of Kalamos.

It’s only a small town, with a population of about 500 people, and they only got running water and electricity as late as 1996, but Kalamos used to house an important Roman fort (for controlling piracy in the Mediterranean) in ancient times, and there was a time when as many as twenty thousand women and children are estimated to have sought refuge here during the Greek revolution in 1821. The island was also once part of the British empire! Not that you can see much of this heritage, beyond a scattering of old ruins. Now it's a quiet village with beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters, and a tranquil and relaxing place to bob about in.

Ithaki

Vathi is capital of Ithaki and is very well protected by a natural channel that you have to traverse down to meet the town. Watch out for old cannons from the Venetian empire as you go down it – they are still in situ and threaten all who arrive by boat, but thankfully they’ve been dormant for centuries now. You certainly wouldn’t fancy your chances if they were still active! The sail into the port is the best part of Vathi, because the sheer grandeur and wonder of the town takes you by surprise: there are buildings lining the hillside around the bay, making the marina seem like the centre of a giant amphitheatre. Truly marvellous.

Ithaki (or, in English, Ithaca) is probably somewhere you have heard of. It featured in Homers classic poem the Odyssey, large parts of which - the Cyclops, sirens, the battle of Troy, Achilles heel, for instance – have made it into popular culture and they even hit the cinemas every few years. Well, this is where the hero, Odysseus, lived and reigned as King. The local tourist board even claimed to have located a grand palace from 800 BC on the island, so there’s now some thought that Odysseus was actually a real person, and not just a fictional character.

Sami

Looking at the scenery, it’s easy to see why some people say this is the most beautiful island in Greece. Indeed, the scenery is so remarkable that after visiting the island for a field trip, the Director of the film version of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin insisted that they had to film it here, because it would be impossible to replicate, even with CGI. If you watch the film, which stars Nick Cage, then you’ll almost certainly spot parts of the town of Sami and the nearby beaches, because this is where they did the bulk of the filming.

In terms of the sailing, after the single tack straight line of yesterday, today you’ll travel in every single direction possible, so you’ll need to keep on your toes. It’s quite simple to navigate though – just keep the coast of Ithaki on your starboard side after leaving Vathi, and then hop over to the next island when you see it. There’s a decent beach in the bay immediately before you arrive at Sami (Antisamos beach) which is worth nosing in to if you have the time to spare – it’s supposed to be one of the top ten beaches in the whole of Greece.

Sami is a small market town by day, but has a holiday buzz and an almost lively atmosphere after night falls. There’s a small number of shops and tavernas, but plenty of character.

Sivota

From Fiskardo, you bear slightly North-Easterly, ideally close-hauled so that you can make good speed across to the island of Lefkas. Sivota is at the end of one of the bays on your port side, and is very well sheltered from the prevailing winds of the season.

Sivota is an exclusive tourist resort, with a number of all-inclusive hotel resorts nearby. The town is quiet during the day (whilst the sailors are out at sea, and the landlubbers are sat by their pools), but the bars and tavernas liven up at night time. You’ll see for yourself what a beautiful place Sivota is, and it’s hard to put into words, or to pick out this particular part of the Ionian when the whole area is delightful, but Sivota has sandy beaches, white limestone cliffs, clear turquoise seas, green pine forests and a scattering of white buildings, and it certainly deserves its place on all the postcards. It’s a blissful place to spend the night.

Meganissi

Papanikolis cave is notable because it’s absolutely massive. At 120m in length, it’s the second longest in Europe, and is even long enough to feature a turn in it, offering even more chance of concealing yourself. Back in the day, boats used to hide in the cave to escape from pirates (that was before charts, let alone the internet, so they’d be unlikely to know about the cave!), and, most recently, it was used as a hiding place for the Greek Papanikolis submarine in world war two.

Following the coast-line round, you’ll arrive at the pretty little fishing village of Vathy, which is fast becoming a popular tourist resort for its serene and beautiful beaches. There’s a few tavernas splayed alongside the waterfront here, which are perfect to relax in and watch the water, or, if you want more choice, the next nearest town is only a kilometre or so away by foot.

Preveza

After arriving in Preveza, you should return the boat to the area of the marina where you found it and follow instruction about refuelling – usually there is a mini-tanker which comes around which will refill your tank, but check with our charter partner as to how it works for them. Once you’re moored up then you’ve completed the sailing for the week, and hopefully you’ve gotten the boat and your crew around safely.

Someone will likely come and inspect the boat, but you’re staying on the boat for one more night. If you haven’t yet seen Preveza old town, then now is a good time to check it out. There’s narrow streets and seafront bars, but the view is never quite as good from the land as it is from the water.

Hopefully you will’ve enjoyed your time sailing, and right now you’ll have a big smile on your face, a bit of a tan, stronger friendships with all your crewmates, and a whole headful of memories of an epic voyage. And then we’re done. Have a safe flight home, and come and visit us to start planning your next great adventure!

Sailing Conditions

Greece Sailing - Wind Conditions

The prevailing wind during the summer months is a Northerly wind, which zips down the mainland coastline from further up the Adriatic. That means you should be able to move quickly up and down the coastline, which is useful, as there isn't much traversing to be done in this cruising ground anyway.

In winter, there is no such thing as a prevailing wind, and the winds come from the mountains in the North or the tropical South, and can vary in strength from non-existent to challenging - but most weather systems pass after a couple of days, so you should still have a fun voyage even outside of the main sailing season.

Preveza - Average Temperature

Our Charter Partners operate out of 3 marinas in Preveza - the main port area, the long-established Preveza Marina in the heart of the town, and new Cleopatra Marina, which is just across the water from the town. All are all within easy distance of the airport, and offer excellent facilities to visiting sailors.

If your flights aren't on a Saturday, you might need to spend a night or two on dry land. We're big fans of the following hotels - Dioni Boutique Hotel or Preveza City Hotel .

Preveza Marina

Preveza Marina is located close to the centre of this cosmopolitan town, which means that shops, bars and restaurants are within easy reach. The marina itself is a modern and comfortable marina, with all the usual facilities, including a fuel dock and wifi.

Cleopatra Marina is a small, modern marina with a capacity for upto 100 boats. It's the most convenient marina to get to in the whole of the Med, being just 2 km from Preveza Airport!  It's also just across the water from Preveza town itself, which has a cute Old Town, and plenty of restaurants and bars that spill out onto the squares and waterfront.

On a strip of land sandwiched between the Ionian Sea and Ambracian Gulf, and perfect for Greek island hopping, Preveza has it all. Thanks to its strategic position there was an important naval battle between future Roman Emperor Octavian and the naval forces of Cleopatra and Anthony which Octavian won and founded the city of Nikopolis (Victory City) in celebration of the success. The ancient city of Kassiopi is nearby too - said to be home of one of the god Zeus's wives, adding to the fun to be had for those with an interest in Greek history and mythos.

The Ambracian Gulf has seven saltwater lagoons and is an important wildlife haven with many species of interest in the bay to those with a love of nature.

There are also over 60km of sandy beaches between Preveza and nearby Parga. Pause awhile in the pedestrianised centre where you can wander around. Tavernas and restaurants abound with Mediterranean flavours combined with sometimes a very local flavour.

Two marinas are central to the economy locally - Preveza Marina and Cleopatra Marina are both major yacht charter hubs and are great jumping-off point for a sailing holiday on the Ionian Sea.

Explore Preveza By Renting A Yacht

Preveza is an important yacht charter hub for those who wish to enjoy the mainland and islands of the Ionian on your chartered yacht, both on a crewed charter and bareboat charter. Sailing north up the turquoise waters of the Ionian, Corfu is popular with tourists yet has an old way of life that in some parts hasn't changed for centuries - its ancient olive groves tended for generations and diet simple and delicious.

The main Ionian Islands of Lefkada (Lefkas Island), Kefalonia and Zakynthos are worthy of long pauses too. Lefkas Island has a lot for the tourist from its stunning beaches to its Lefkas Town with its alleyways full of delight.

Cephalonia was the setting for the Hollywood movie Captain Corelli's Mandolin thanks to its stunning scenery and beautiful fishing villages. Sandy beaches and a large cave system make this, the largest of the Ionian Islands, a destination you shouldn't miss on a Preveza yacht charter.

The southernmost of the Ionian Islands Zakynthos is home to the rare turtle species Caretta- that lay their eggs on the beaches every year. The scenery is some of the best in Greece and the villages worthy of a few hours and a long lunch break in too.

A Preveza yacht charter will give you the opportunity to explore these islands over a week or two at your own pace, enjoying the placid and great sailing conditions of the Ionian Sea as you do.

Wander in the olive groves and beaches beloved of holidaymakers since the 1920s.

14 days - Peloponnese and the Ionian Islands: Itself closer to the Saronic Islands, the island of Kithra is widely held as the most southerly Ionian Island. Island and coastal hopping down the northern Ionian archipelago, where the seven-day trippers will head home you continue south and get to explore mainland Greece as well as you enjoy your extended trip to all of the Ionian islands.

Best Times To Hire A Yacht In Preveza

The sailing season runs from late April to October with July and August being the busiest months for yacht charter.

Unlike the Aegean, the Ionian Sea is dominated by the Bora - the same wind that affects nearby Croatia. In summer this is far more benign and far more sailing friendly than the often stronger Meltemi. Building to a fun F5-6 in the afternoon from a zephyr in the morning, you can almost time your daily sailing by it.

The sea is cooler - often quite chilly - at the beginning of the sailing season but there is rainfall in Spring. As the days lengthen you will still see green fields and flowers in May and the winds can be quite benign too.

Come September and October the seas are still like a warm bath. With the wetter climate than the Aegean, this is less of a problem so with the warm seas could be at least as good as the earlier months of the year.

Sailing Weather In Preveza

April to mid June: There is rainfall and the temperatures build steadily from the mid-teens to the mid 20 degrees C range. There are sometimes cooler northerly winds, though the southerly Bora kicks in around early May. There is more rainfall here than on Aegean Greece but that's often a relief from the heat.

Late June-August: You'll be unlucky if you see any rain, though it could be welcome in the summer heat. Temperatures are from 30s and the Bora often adds to the heat with its tropical origins.

September-October: The seas remain warm, as does the air. These months can be the best time of year to sail as the temperatures are often in the comfortable low to mid-20s though can touch 30C from time to time.

Frequently asked questions

The main points to consider are what is your budget, have you got the necessary sailing experience and qualifications to manage the boat if it's not going to have a skipper, whom you are taking sailing, where exactly you wish to go and what will the weather be like on the proposed dates of your trip.

There are two marinas in Preveza - the larger Preveza Marina with 300 berths and the smaller Cleopatra Marina with 100. Both have lots of good quality services.

To avoid the summer heat and crowds, if you can get to Preveza after autumn school term begins you will find the seas still warm, the air more comfortable and the marinas less crowded.

You will typically pay 50% up front on booking the yacht hire and the balance on arrival. You will either pay a security deposit with your credit card on departure or can get insurance covering damage in advance. In some cases (such as the recent Covid situation) charter companies may be more flexible but this depends on the individual charter companies themselves.

If you are at sea and in danger, call MAYDAY on VHF Ch16 or ring the coast guard on your phone if you have reception. If you have a mechanical fault and can make it to or are on a mooring you will be able to phone a help line number given by the boat charter company.

You should consider do you have the experience to handle the yacht charter or boat hire before you book and where do you want to go along with what the weather will be like. Bring warm weather and cool weather clothing if it looks like the weather can be cool as well as warm and remember at sea it can be cool on most evenings.

If you want to sail without a skipper then you will need relevant qualifications like RYA Day Skipper/International Certificate of Competence (ICC)/ASA 104 Bareboat certificate or the US Sailing Certificate. For small 'day boats' or if you choose to have a skippered on board your yacht charter you typically don't require licences.

I first rented a yacht from Preveza Sailing in 2003. Since then I have spent many holidays in Greece and can only say that every time sailing with them was reason to go back. Private Yacht Sailing Day Trips

You don’t have to be a skipper to enjoy the yachting life, we will take care of everything for you. Akis and crew will take you skilfully take you where ever you want for the day. Most people enjoy Paxos and Anti Paxos because of the aqua marine waters, white beach coves, cute fishing ports for lunch or the blue caves for exciting and safe swimming. But don’t forget about Syvota, a lovely mainland port, with many small Islands around it to explore by yacht. It is a traditional yachting port, and well worth the trip. On the way there is are secret beaches and a church carved into the rock. A fabulous spot to swim and explore.

Ionian Dream Charter offers you a wealth of knowledge and professionalism, lots of friendliness and excellent value. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.

Yacht Charter

Our yacht chartering is based in Preveza. This gives you the perfect starting point from which to explore the South and North Ionian Islands, as well as the lesser know fabulous places on the mainland. You can enjoy a little of everything that you know and love about Greece and still yet to discover starting from Preveza.

Explore travelling south, on the mainland Mytikas or the Islands of Lefkada, Ithaka. Kefalonia, which is next to Ithaka is the location for Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, which is a wonderful Island to explore.

Going to the northern Ionian Islands, there is beautiful Paxos, Anti Paxos or Corfu. On the mainland there is Parga, the jewell of Epirus. Often over looked for the Islands, it’s a place where the Greeks come to holiday. It is lush with trees, mountains, rivers and of course some of the most beautiful beaches. White sand, coves and crystal clear water.

Highlight of our family holiday to Parga - Akis and Costas went out of their way to make us feel welcome from the minute we stepped on board - really knowledgeable and keen to make the most of the day for us. During the trip they provided us with drinks, fruit platters, snacks and we had use of the whole yacht - they provided masks and snorkels and we could have used their towels too if we needed them. Clean toilets on board and also cabins which we were able to use too if we had needed to change or sleep etc. Out trip was tailored to what we wanted to see and do. Having previously been to Gaios we chose to search out new hidden beaches and coves where we could snorkel and swim. Family members got to steer the yacht and help with the sails too so it was a really immersive experience. Would do it all again in the blink of an eye!! Easy to organise via Messenger - big thanks to Joanna for all your help and messages.

A wonderful day of my dreams. We, a family of four, had the most amazing experience with Akis and Takis onboard the fantastic sail boat. The boat is spacious. It has a well functioning bathroom, shade, cooler for food and drinks. It's easy to swim from the boat. We celebrated my 50-iets birthday, and since I love swimming and snorkling this was just the perfect spent birthday. It was easy to plan with Joanna by mail, and Akis and Takis were the most welcoming, easy-going guys. They steered the ship with precision. They let us do whatever we wanted during the day. We had some great conversation about, played nice music, got the most delicious local fruits and snacks. We made about 4-5 stops around Paxos- Anti Paxos for swimming. The day was totally up to us. Too bad I do not celebrate this large everytime I go on holdiday! Worth everey penny.

A magical experience on this classy yacht. Four of us clubbed in to have a day on thia private yacht and it was the best decision of the holiday. We sailed to the blue caves, swam in turquoise water, visited Paxos’ vibey town and sailed back in the sunset. The skipper Akis and First mate Stavros were respectful and spoiled us with fresh fruit and local cheese and drinks. They were just a dream team and even did their dolphin call and we ended the trip with a few playful dolphins coming to say hello. Please do yourself this favour and book a trip on this yacht. We will treasure our memories for life.

Great company, boat was fantastic and in lovely condition, really good handover, Takis and Costas really look after you, would highly recommend.

Suggested Sailing Routes From Preveza

With access to the Ionian Islands, the Peloponnese peninsula and Corfu, a Preveza luxury yacht holiday gives you lots of options.

7 days - Preveza and the Ionian Islands: Heading south down the Ionian Sea, you will island-hop along the islands of Lefkas, Cephalonia and Zakynthos, taking in the sights, smells and sounds of these islands. Pause at Shipwreck Cove on Zakynthos and explore the islands firstly north to south and then south to north.

7 days - Corfu: Heading north towards the Albanian border, you cross the sea to Corfu. This is an island worth of a multi day trip from the pretty streets of Corfu Town to the modern, cosmopolitan holiday town of Gouvia.

We are confident that our prices are the most competitive and transparent in the market.

We won't charge any booking fees when you make a booking with us.

Sitting at the mouth of the Ambracian Gulf is the town of Preveza. Northwest of Greece, it sets the stage for a journey across the Ionian Sea with choice of a northbound heading towards Corfu and Paxos, or pivot in the direction of Ithaca, Meganisi and Lefkas. Alternatively, turn inwards for the beautiful bays and anchorages of the Ambracian Gulf in a more sheltered, relaxed exploration.

Ancient history delineates the ruins of Nikopolis north of Preveza, rooting the city’s origins in early B.C. where it once hosted the king of Epirus. History also left lingering traces in the cobblestoned streets lined with taverns and traditional design of portside structures. Other heritage sites on offer include the Agios Haralambos Cathedral, the Museum of Natural History, three 18th century castles and prominent landmarks flanking the promenade. To indulge in local culture, mingle at the Old Marketplace and get lost in the backstreets. If your trip coincides with the Sardine Festival in August, be sure to check it out!

Scenic beaches Paralia Alonaki and Monolithi Beach extend its sandy bar for maximum exposure with the turquoise waters. Simply take the time to unwind and capture spectacular sunset views. Watersports are better accommodated for at Kastrosikia Beach, with facilities that support canoeing, small sailboats and paragliding. Apart from seaside ventures, Preveza also offers the Amvrakikos Wetlands Habitat for nature-seekers. Take a four-wheel drive tour for a comprehensive day-trip, taking in breathtaking landscapes of the lagoons and valley, and bird-watching.

Preveza is best visited in the summer to avoid rainy season. With an average temperature of 26.2℃ in the summer and a chill 9℃ in winter months, expect generally mild weather.

Screen Rant

10 below deck charter guests who will never return to the franchise.

While the charter guests who appear on Below Deck have a great time while filming the show, many aren't invited back for a number of reasons.

  • Some charter guests on Below Deck have caused unnecessary drama and won't likely return due to bad behavior.
  • Captain Glenn Shephard from Below Deck Sailing Yacht faced backlash from Barrie, who called him two-faced.
  • Former guest Dr. Francis Martinis will not return to Below Deck after he was arrested for faking prescriptions.

The Below Deck franchise has featured many charter guests since 2013, many of whom will never return . The Bravo series focuses on expensive charters with wealthy guests who have attitude problems and over-the-top demands. That includes Charter guest Alexis Bellino, who boarded Captain Lee Rosbach’s yacht with her boyfriend at the time, Andy Bohn. She was disrespectful and made everyone uncomfortable with her and Andy's PDA. She even insulted crew members after featuring on the show.

Like Alexis, Delores Flora from Below Deck season 8 was a terrible guest. Not only did she misbehave, but she also got drunk and s wam while intoxicated, which is not only not allowed, it frightened the crew members. Delores got kicked out of the yacht the next day. These guests created unnecessary drama on the boat and will likely never return like a few others from the franchise.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

8 barrie & tony, below deck sailing yacht.

Barrie and Tony Drewitt Barlow had a decent time in the Below Deck Sailing Yacht seasons 2 and 3. Despite that, they left with a bitter taste because of Captain Glenn Shephard. In 2021, Barrie participated in a podcast, Pita Party: The Podcast , where he claimed that Captain Glenn bothered him while using his phone .

Barrie said, “he (Captain Glenn) was a two-face b*stard,” adding that he just didn’t like his presence.

7 Frank Fay

Below deck mediterranean.

In Below Deck Mediterranean season 7, Charter guest Frank Fay had a thing for second stew Kyle Viljoen. He pursued him on the yacht, but unfortunately, their relationship didn’t last. Frank will likely never return to the series as long as Captain Sandy Yawn allows Kyle to work for her. Even if Kyle quits, Frank wouldn’t want to be in an environment that would remind him of his failed relationship.

6 Erica Rose

Erica Rose appeared on Below Deck Sailing Yacht two seasons in a row. Erica was highly offensive toward the crew member, as well as her husband, Charles Sanders, and to make things worse, she left the crew with a measly tip , leading fans to slam her on social media. Ultimately, Erica had to apologize for her bad attitude but never returned to give the crew the tip they deserved. Nobody on Below Deck Sailing Yacht would ever want to return.

5 Justin Guarini

Justin Guarini’s time on Below Deck Sailing Yacht was not dramatic at all; however, he’ll probably never return to the series. Justin wouldn’t return because he wasn't the primary guest. He joined his friend, Kim, who wanted to enjoy a luxury yacht trip. It was more of a one-and-done deal. Secondly, nobody recognized him at all. Viewers later realized who he was and how he was the runner-up on American Idol season 1. Justin is a theatre artist and has made a name for himself. However, it was embarrassing that so many fans had no clue who he was .

Below Deck: 8 Charter Guests With The Worst Attitudes

4 johnny damon.

Johnny Damon’s time at Below Deck Med was full of explosive moments. Once, he sent the food back, citing that the experience wasn’t “five stars.” On another occasion, his wife, Michelle, created drama by yelling at the owner of another yacht . Overall, the experience was simply terrible on both sides. Crew members didn’t love Johnny and his wife, and the couple didn’t respect the crew members. It is unlikely that Captain Sandy would want to host the couple again as long as she’s in charge.

3 Krystal Murphy

Former charter guest Krystal Murphy boarded Captain Lee’s yacht with her friends. She immediately began showing red flags, drinking, and just being a menace. Krystal fought with her friend, Chelsea, creating unnecessary drama. She even passed out and punched a friend in the face. Former Chief Stew Kate Chastain disliked serving Krystal and called her a “spoiled brat;” she wanted to throw her off the yacht. Nowadays, Krystal has seemingly become a more private person. It doesn’t seem like Krystal would want to be on TV again.

2 Steve Bradley

Below Deck fans should remember Steve Bradley as he made many appearances on the show. In Below Deck season 3, he wanted a foam party and demanded the crew to figure it out and follow his commands, acting like a king. In Below Deck season 6, Steve made more outrageous requests. Apart from being a wild guest, Steve was entitled and acted inappropriately at times . No Below Deck captain would want to host him again as he didn't come off as very likable.

1 Dr. Francis Martinis

Below deck mediterranean & below deck sailing yacht.

Dr. Francis Martinis from Below Deck Med and Below Deck Sailing Yacht has a zero chance of returning. While the former charter guest didn’t have too many issues on the show, his personal life issues will stop him from appearing on Bravo again. According to TMZ , Dr. Francis and his wife, Jessica, were arrested for filling out fake prescriptions in December 2023 . The couple used the names of Below Deck stars and got caught red-handed. The Below Deck franchise would never want to welcome felons, especially when their mugshots are all over the internet.

Below Deck airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo.

Sources: Pita Party: The Podcast , Krystal Murphy /Instagram

Below Deck is a popular reality TV franchise that focuses on a group of crew members as they work on luxurious yachts and cater to their client's needs. After the original series proved to be a success, Bravo developed a handful of spinoff shows including Below Deck Selling Yacht, Below Deck Adventure, Below Deck Down Under, and Below Deck Mediterranean.

Russia Maps Show 25% of Moscow Without Power Amid Winter Freeze 'Emergency'

R ussian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the nationalization of an ammunition plant in Moscow after a mechanical failure caused tens of thousands of Muscovites to lose heat and water amid freezing temperatures beginning last week.

On January 4, a heating main burst at the Klimovsk Specialized Ammunition Plant in the town of Podolsk, which is around 30 miles south of central Moscow. Since then, tens of thousands of Russians are reported to have no heating in their homes in the Moscow region amid subzero temperatures.

Affected areas include the cities of Khimki, Balashikha, Lobnya, Lyubertsy, Podolsk, Chekhov, Naro-Fominsk, and Podolsk, a map published by a Russian Telegram channel and shared on other social media sites shows.

Other Russian media outlets reported that in Moscow, residents of Balashikha, Elektrostal, Solnechnogorsk, Dmitrov, Domodedovo, Troitsk, Taldom, Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Krasnogorsk, Pushkino, Ramenskoye, Voskresensk, Losino-Petrovsky, and Selyatino are also without power.

That means that in total, more than a quarter of Moscow's cities have been hit with power outages and a lack of heating.

Newsweek has contacted Russia's Foreign Ministry for comment via email.

Many residents have taken to publishing video appeals on social media to complain about their freezing conditions. In one clip, people living in Moscow say that they are left with no choice but to warm their homes with gas stoves, heaters, and "whatever else we can find." Others said they are lighting fires in the streets to keep warm.

Andrei Vorobyov, governor of the Moscow region, announced on Tuesday that Putin ordered the ammunition plant to be nationalized because two of its owners have been "located abroad." He didn't name the individuals.

"We received the right to take control of this boiler house within the framework of an emergency," Vorobiev said, adding that the plant's boiler room was managed "very poorly" and there was "virtually no qualified competent personnel."

Russia's Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case over Klimovsk Specialized Ammunition Plant not meeting safety requirements.

On Tuesday, the committee said that because of the incident, the deputy head of Podolsk's administration, the head of the plant's boiler house, and the general director of the ammunition plant had been detained.

Residents of Selyatino have described the situation as "some kind of struggle for survival," Russian Telegram channel ASTRA reported.

Power outages have also struck St. Petersburg, Rostov, Volgograd, Voronezh, Primorsky Territory, and Yekaterinburg.
