The clubhouse is located at the Montgomerykaai near the Beach and the Port Entrance

It is the only yacht club along the Belgian coast located in the citycentre. All shops, restaurants, train- and bus connections, museums, hospitals etc. are within walking distance. The clubhouse has a most pleasant bar, a gastronomic restaurant, a multipurpose meeting room and the most beautiful sunny terrace of the coast, with a seaview, the beach and the harbour.

“Best view and food in Ostend” Review of Royal North Sea Yacht Club

We have been here several times over the years. Service is very friendly. The restaurant is a private club so you must be invited by a member to get in. Food is most seafood and fish, only fresh from the market, if they are sold out they will tell. Nothing out of the freezer. The chef prepares authentic classics but also dishes with a thai touch. And every day they have a very good cheap lunch special.

Overpriced for nothing very memorable. Sour service. I thought we had done something wrong but then I saw other reviews. Shame really because one of our diners came a month ago and was very positive. There surroundings are nice, I guess and these are were comfy!

Right where all yachts stop for food in the night. I believe its a private club and thanks to my colleague had a chance to eat a very good dinner. Off course sea food is order of the day and you will not be disappointed

The management should make up it' mind up about the fact if this is a private venue or not. If it is a private venue it has no place in Tripadvisor. I have been sailing for more than 40 years and I have never experienced such unfriendlyness. The waitress in casual clothes simply refused to serve me claiming that is a private club memebers only. But this members rule does not seem to be so strict as I saw there was a monthly dinner of the Fifty-one club Oostende, for sure not all members of the sailing club.

Dear Mr JAKKE 1961 , Indeed the Royal North Sea Yacht Club is a private Yacht Club , only accessible for its members and their guests . And yes the RNSYC is the last really on the belgian coast At the 2 possible entrance gates this is very well indicated , and even the access to premisses is reserved . We have approx 700 members + their family , paying their yearly membership . We have only 40 seats . One can easily understand then that it is very difficult to allow non-members to take advantage of the club facilities when not showing their membership card of any other sailing club as the club indeed is accessible to members of other Yacht Clubs , showing a valid membership card ! Otherwise there are number of meetings by Service Clubs taking place in the separate facilities of our Clubhouse and the SEPARATE facilities are indeed accessible to more than one service club ! The club bar and club restaurant are NOT accessible for these people if not member . Kind regards Patrick Windey - manager

I've eaten here many times (always good), but last Monday evening was exceptional. The Cod on mashed potato and spinach was perfect. I never tire of watching the boats coming in and out. When it's warmer the terrace is lovely. If you can get it in, you'll enjoy yourself.

RNSYC is an exclusive location, provided with a bar and a gastronomic restaurant and a multipurpose meeting room up to 40 persons. It is situated in the Ostend marina. Magnificent view over the harbour and the sea guaranteed.

The club was founded in 1946 by a close group of Snipe and Papillon sailors and has grown into one of the most dynamic water sports clubs and marinas on the Belgian coast. It is the only yacht club in Belgium located in the city centre. All shops, restaurants, train and bus connections, museums, etc. are within walking distance.

Typical not too much hassle marina restaurant with good quality brasserie type food in relaxed atmosphere. Wonderful bouillabaisse and shrimp salad. Great harbour views. Friendly staff.

Just had lunch at this place while racing in the club. To go into the restaurant you need to be a member of a sailing club but I don’t think they check. View out in the harbor is fantastic, fish is well made and fresh.... Service was ok. But honestly speaking the pricing is ridiculous. A Sole mariniere with just Salat and chips for € 33,80 I hardly ever had before. At least not in a sailing club restaurant. Tomorrow’s lunch I will definitely have in one of the many more restaurants around. More

Very poor quality, where the food was rather good in the past, prices are going up and food we got was nearly eatable. Toilets were dirty, no soap, no towel. I was so embarrassed to my friends that I forgot to take pictures.

If a warm welcome or friendly staff reflects the start of a perfect evening well... sorry! This little nervous impolite rude lady made it an unforgettable evening ( in a bad way). Perhaps she doesn’t know who pays her salary nor that she isn’t Royal... ! tssssss shame More

The level of service is very much below the line. In a yacht club I would have expected to have a more customer oriented staff. Too bad, I am sorry

RNSYC is always friendly and welcoming - as always the swell from the sea and the boats in the harbour make the basin a bouncy place to be - sometime uncomfortably so. The club facilities are good and the bar cheap. We didn't eat there... this year. More

Awfull food since the former coock has been fired. They even don't know how to prepare fresh belgian fries (as they ran out of the frozen ones)

This Yacht Club requires a membership to get access. Members of foreign Yacht Clubs are welcome. And members can bring guests. It's situated in a top location - the best - in Ostend. The food and service have been consistently outstanding for many years. It's... my favorite place for lunch or dinner because of the quality of the always fresh food, the friendly service, and the gorgeous views on the Yacht Harbor, the city line of Ostend, and the Channel. It is also good value for your money, and the interior is charmingly classic and maritime, very cosy ! More

Delicious local food prepared fresh on the day. Beautiful views of the harbour. Only drawback is that you have to be invited by a member of the Yacht Club to dine there. Luckily I have a friend who is. One of the best food experiences... in Ostend. More

Ate there the once and had a drink twice , both times found the service poor and the staff rude, to be told to stay there and wait was to much, while she sorted the music out, we only wanted to pay the bill! The... food was ok but expensive and the surrounding are nice,I would not go again and would not recommend unless you like to be treated like a univited guest at a private party More

The North Sea Yacht Club was built up in the winter of 1946 – 1947 by a gathering of youthful aficionados cruising Snipes and Papillons. The then Lord Mayor of Ostend, Henri Serruys, put the Montgomery dock at the transfer of the Club and with the Commodore Georges Timmermans DSC in charge, this incredible yacht Club was conceived.

The main Dragons showed up at the Club in the 50’s and from that point forward the Dragon armada has been the center of the Club’s exercises. The “ELAN” gave to late King Baudouin I has been extremely dynamic Dragon of the armada.

Smoking - At Kellett Island, smoking is only permitted in the areas stated in these Bye-Laws. For avoidance of doubt, smoking including electronic cigarettes is prohibited in any area that has not been mentioned in these Bye-Laws.

At Kellett Island, smoking is only permitted in the following areas:

• the balconies of the Chart Room and Main Bar.
• the Main Deck (in the designated smoking area).
• the Sun Deck.
• open areas of car park, boatyard and pontoon. .
• the walking balcony between the Gun Room and the Ward Room.

Portable Telephone/Audible Musical Instruments and Laptop Computers

Except where they are audible only to the user through earphones, the personal use of radios, tape recorders, music players, musical instruments, portable phones, laptop computers, pads or any other device to watch movies, listen to music or play video games, etc. is forbidden in any part of the Club premises unless the use thereof has been approved by the General Manager.

The use of electronic equipment for the purpose of voice communication, including but not limited to portable phones, audible pagers and laptop computers is not permitted within the Club premises except in:

• the designated area within the Children’s playground alongside the waterfront railing.
• the landing outside the lift of the staircase from the Bistro to the Chart Room.
• the outside corridor adjacent to the Ladies’ changing rooms.
• the landing of the white metal staircase from the hardstanding to changing rooms and on the outdoor landing between the changing rooms and the gymnasium.
• the lift lobby next to the Club Room (the location of the former Geoff Edmonds Room).
• the Poolside semi-circle covered table area.
• the Club Room.
• the car park and hard stand areas.

In the Compass Room, the use of electronic equipment, larger than pocket size, is permitted only when the room is in use for a private function.

No wet clothing, swim-wear or wet suits may be worn in enclosed bar and restaurant areas.

Superb view. Restaurant for members only! Very good Dover sole

Typical not too much hassle marina restaurant with good quality brasserie type food in relaxed atmosphere. Wonderful bouillabaisse and shrimp salad. Great harbour views. Friendly staff.

Just had lunch at this place while racing in the club. To go into the restaurant you need to be a member of a sailing club but I don’t think they check. View out in the harbor is fantastic, fish is well made and fresh.... Service was ok. But honestly speaking the pricing is ridiculous. A Sole mariniere with just Salat and chips for € 33,80 I hardly ever had before. At least not in a sailing club restaurant. Tomorrow’s lunch I will definitely have in one of the many more restaurants around. More

Very poor quality, where the food was rather good in the past, prices are going up and food we got was nearly eatable. Toilets were dirty, no soap, no towel. I was so embarrassed to my friends that I forgot to take pictures.

If a warm welcome or friendly staff reflects the start of a perfect evening well... sorry! This little nervous impolite rude lady made it an unforgettable evening ( in a bad way). Perhaps she doesn’t know who pays her salary nor that she isn’t Royal... ! tssssss shame More

The management should make up it' mind up about the fact if this is a private venue or not. If it is a private venue it has no place in Tripadvisor. I have been sailing for more than 40 years and I have never experienced... such unfriendlyness. The waitress in casual clothes simply refused to serve me claiming that is a private club memebers only. But this members rule does not seem to be so strict as I saw there was a monthly dinner of the Fifty-one club Oostende, for sure not all members of the sailing club. More

Overpriced for nothing very memorable. Sour service. I thought we had done something wrong but then I saw other reviews. Shame really because one of our diners came a month ago and was very positive. There surroundings are nice, I guess and these are were... comfy! More

I've eaten here many times (always good), but last Monday evening was exceptional. The Cod on mashed potato and spinach was perfect. I never tire of watching the boats coming in and out. When it's warmer the terrace is lovely. If you can get it... in, you'll enjoy yourself. More

We have been here several times over the years. Service is very friendly. The restaurant is a private club so you must be invited by a member to get in. Food is most seafood and fish, only fresh from the market, if they are sold... out they will tell. Nothing out of the freezer. The chef prepares authentic classics but also dishes with a thai touch. And every day they have a very good cheap lunch special. More

The level of service is very much below the line. In a yacht club I would have expected to have a more customer oriented staff. Too bad, I am sorry

RNSYC is always friendly and welcoming - as always the swell from the sea and the boats in the harbour make the basin a bouncy place to be - sometime uncomfortably so. The club facilities are good and the bar cheap. We didn't eat there... this year. More

Awfull food since the former coock has been fired. They even don't know how to prepare fresh belgian fries (as they ran out of the frozen ones)

This Yacht Club requires a membership to get access. Members of foreign Yacht Clubs are welcome. And members can bring guests. It's situated in a top location - the best - in Ostend. The food and service have been consistently outstanding for many years. It's... my favorite place for lunch or dinner because of the quality of the always fresh food, the friendly service, and the gorgeous views on the Yacht Harbor, the city line of Ostend, and the Channel. It is also good value for your money, and the interior is charmingly classic and maritime, very cosy ! More

Delicious local food prepared fresh on the day. Beautiful views of the harbour. Only drawback is that you have to be invited by a member of the Yacht Club to dine there. Luckily I have a friend who is. One of the best food experiences... in Ostend. More

Ate there the once and had a drink twice , both times found the service poor and the staff rude, to be told to stay there and wait was to much, while she sorted the music out, we only wanted to pay the bill! The... food was ok but expensive and the surrounding are nice,I would not go again and would not recommend unless you like to be treated like a univited guest at a private party More
