Then there's Angus Richardson's "Moonshadow", followed by Marlo Stiller's "Papaya III", Settlement Hagerup's "Cobra" and Breaking McCormack's "Bob About". For those interested in building Ranger, of best source is my article with ModelYachting magazine (Spring 2011, No. 163). The six-page feature includes a plot of build pics and very nice artist done by Jim Linville after mystery rough originals. The magazine has been distributed to AMYA elements, and is available for others from the Ship's Store for theamya.org. Given the difficulty of multinational mailing, etc., EGO am posting my originals as requested for those those can't get the issue. They aren't as pretty, nevertheless they are get I build from. Designed displacement exists 300 grams. I hopfen you enjoy the boat.

Razor3 is a better-handling boat than the original (which is today tend old) and the plans are more complete. I also think the narrower gleam makes a easier go build. Razor3 is the boat I sailed to second place in recent month's Euro GP in the UK.

"Since Razor is a couple years archaic, I thought he was time go post a design such reflects my current thinking. This is a sets of plans or a couple pics for may Hawk (the prototype for my entry in of Liverpool Challenge in July, 2008.) It's a bit more complex than Razor, not a better performer, too. Of plans are to can printed on 8-1/2 by 14 infeed paper. The dive can 300 mm oblong when constructed into the plan. The other 5 mm is left for she to make ampere bow piece to round off the nose as stylish the pics. I'm posting the just plan I used to built mys boat, welche resources the home layout, electronics, and rig are left at your preference. Interior dividers are not require. Please don't email meine by more in-depth info...there isn't unlimited! Yourself can referen to the many pics for this site fork reference on how others have fitted out their boats. Scott Spacie has done extensive testing of this design, and he assures me that it floats. I hope you'll have fun include it."

I call it Razor. It's intended on be easy until build, so it's a chine design, but I don't ideas its performance wish suffer. I expect this to be an stably boat that is stiff enough to carry further sail is my Halfpint. I built the hull you see in 3 hours. EGO spray glued that maps to some 1/32 balsa metal and cut out an tile with a scissors. Then I taped the flugzeugrumpf together furthermore superglued the seams. Information got a bit tricky at the bow when I sticked my fingers to the hull.....but all workers outside in the end. Mar 17, 2017 - This Needle was discovered by Ragnar Ødegård. How to make a craft sailboat?

To make a craft sailboat, start by wrapping 12 sticks together with twine. Then, wrap two sticks onto the bottom to create a raft. Cut two triangles out of paper, glue them together, and attach them to the craft sticks as your mast. Finally, connect the sail to the raft and sail your boat by creating some wind. For more detailed instructions and illustrations, check out websites such as DIYnCrafts or product options like the Alex Crafts Knot A Lot kit.

DESIGN RULES

Presto2

The Footy can be built from scratch (both plans and kits are available) or acquired as a sail-ready model. Two servos are called for: one to control the sail, the other for the rudder, though placement is a builder decision. Hulls can be hand-cut balsa wood or molded fiberglass or carbon fiber; and sail designs include swing rigs, gaff rigs, genoa jibs, the unique unarig and more. To date there are over two dozen distinct Footy designs that have qualified for r/c model yacht racing (see our Footy Gallery ).

The rules governing the Footy design are the work of an international contingent of model yacht artisans. The official text of the most current rules may be found at their site, FOOTY Class R/C Sailboat , on the RULES page. This is the International FOOTY Class web site and is an excellent source for plans, news and  regatta schedules from both sides of the pond.

FOOTY MEASURING BOX

Two sets of plans for building the Footy measuring box are available at the International Footy Class web site at the RULES page. Pictured is a Papaya III Footy with a Footy box.

PLANS, KITS & SAIL-READY MODELS

Plans for eight classic Footys are available at   FOOTY Class R/C Sailboat: PLANS .

The US Footy Registrar is found at the AMYA   Footy Class Page .

MENTORS / BUILDING RESOURCES

To date, RCMSC members have built 20 Footys (with eight Footy designs represented)–a boatload of crafting experience. That good experience is available on build nights, Sunday sails, via email, at the pub, even online:   Footy build logs have been posted at RCMSC member Stanley Townsend’s blog. Check the Club NEWS POSTS for announcements of build nights; check the Sailing Schedule for dates of Sunday sails.

Good advice from experienced Footy builders / sailors is also available at  two discussion forums (registration is required to post comments): FOOTY USA on Yahoo and the R/C Sailing Forum: Footy Class .

The AMYA Model Yachting magazine featured the Footy in its Summer 2008 issue (available from the AMYA Ship’s Store ). Included are 13 articles addressing design, sources, crafting and sailing the Footy.

Footy BRANDO Plans

Footy BRANDO Plans

Description

Be sure to select PRINT or DIGITAL when you order.

The "Footy" class, for boats which fit within a 12" x 6" box. We think you"ll find this design completely irresistible. Designed by Flavio Faloci a naval architect based in Genova, Italy.

BRANDO includes 12 pages of plans, plus detailed building instructions. Drawings are full-sized, and include drawings for a box to transport your boat (and rig, etc), as well as a table stand and a wall stand.

If you download the plans, you can print on "tabloid" 11" x 17" paper, or A3.

BRANDO complies with Footy class rules for radio control use. For a list of what you need, click MATERIALS LIST .

This from Dieter in Germany:

Is this a project for a beginner model builder? No not really.

You'll see that the drawings tend to not have many parts labeled with dimensions. As long as you don't exceed the 12" long, 6" wide parameters, and you keep your printing percentage consistent throughout the pages, your model will go together nicely, and comply with the Footy rules.

Servos, receivers are available from your local hobby shop, or via Tower Hobbies, 1.800.637.6050 (www.towerhobbies.com).

————————————————————

“Your downloads are ready” will be the subject line of an email you’ll receive from us—once we’ve processed your digital order. That email has the link to click, so you can then download the file.

This isn't an "instant" process, so if we're asleep, you may need to wait for regular business hours for us to process the order. Although we are quite timely, we may not be processing on weekends & holidays.

Customer Reviews

Going to fit right in with my RC Solings and RC Laser

Flavio Falocis plans are fantastic pieces of art as well as making for a great sailing beautiful little footy yacht.

Lots left to the builder to figure out. Dimensions, building sequence, materials substitutions, etc. not a simple build. Have a couple of week’s work left to try it out. Cute little boat though!

  1. Brett McCormack's "Bob About" Footy Sailboat Plans

Attach the sheets to the boom and set up sail arm, sail arm length is 65mm (2.5") . Ballast Notes: 500g is a good all up weight for the "BobAbout" design.
