‘Below Deck’ Boat Sinks While Filming Season 5

Below Deck Season 5 is undergoing a serious crisis, as perhaps the worst thing possible happened, and that is the sinking of a Below Deck boat. Luckily, it wasn’t the luxury yacht used for client excursions, but the crew boat, the Silver Queen, which served as the canteen for the Bravo show. The sinking of the Silver Queen happened in St. Maarten in the Marina Fort Louis.

A local paper revealed that the boat broke its propeller with a mooring rope, causing it to sink in the waters of the marina, according to the Soualiga Post. The chief on board, Tricia, said that Silver Queen was an old, historical fishing ship that they knew had problems. As the boat was sinking, Tricia was the last one off.

Our Verdict: Did Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 Sink or Sail?

By Amy DeVore

Gary King, Alex Propson

Below Deck Sailing Yacht has just aired the entirety of Season 4, minus the ensuing reunion. Here’s our Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 verdict. Since Season 2, Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher , First Mate Gary King , and Chief Engineer Colin MacRae have held starring roles within the cast. Captain Glenn Shephard signed on even earlier, appearing in the inaugural season (which was a bit of a bust).

As the seasons have passed, this particular series has only increased in viewership. Whether it’s the comfort of these four familiar faces or the aspects of watching a crew work onboard a temperamental sailing yacht, this Below Deck spin off is quickly becoming one of the most popular within the franchise.

So, did Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 sink, or did it (slowly) sail (with an engine lacking after cooler)? In our opinion, it sailed, and we’ll tell you why.

(But First…) The Only Thing Sinking Was Parsifal III

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Below Deck (@belowdeckbravo)

This season started off on a high, with viewers eagerly awaiting a fix for Parsifal III’s engine. When a 15 day estimate was given, Colin stepped up to the plate. Using an unorthodox route, Colin managed to find a way to turn on the engines without the usage of after cooler. Watching Colin’s intelligence and thought processes play out was stressful, but also, enlightening.

However, the Parsifal III continued to have issues throughout Season 4. One time, the engines started to overheat, filling the decks with plumes of smoke. This caused the vessel to be blown into shallower waters with the threat of hitting rocks. Watching Captain Glenn and the deck team think quickly on their feet, while the charter guests casually looked on, reminded viewers that this job is very real, and sometimes, very dangerous.

This particular sailing yacht is the only vessel to ever appear on this series, so it’s tight corners and quirky layout(s) have become almost comforting for the longtime viewers. That said, this season really shone a light on Parsifal III’s current state. For that, we thank the troubles seen, and hope for a restored vessel for Season 5.

We Were Gifted With A Single Colin

Colin has always been (to us) the most desirable man onboard Below Deck Sailing Yacht. However, Seasons 2 and 3 saw Colin in a land-based relationship. This was equal parts a blessing and a curse for this tanned, muscular, intelligent CALL US COLIN engineer, as he’s been able to steer clear of years worth of “boatmance” dramas.

Colin’s past taken-status also meant that Gary had one less man onboard to compete with for the ladies attentions. Season 4, however, brought Colin back single. Within the first few episodes, it became clear that a freer Colin was onboard, with hints of finding Chef Ileisha Dell cute and inklings of an attraction forming with Daisy.

Watching Gary be taken aback by his friend turning into his competition was the chefs kiss of this season.

Speaking Of Ileisha Dell…

It’s 2023 and we should not be talking about looks as a qualifier of someone’s worth. That disclaimer typed, Season 4’s new Chef Ileisha Dell had it all; looks, skills, patience, and humor. Random but clearly important fact, Ileisha also used to be a contortionist within her small town’s “Spaghetti Circus.”

Colin’s attraction was likely understood by every single viewer, however, Ileisha had a boyfriend back home, so any chances for a love connection were dead in the water. Sorry Chase Lemacks , we know you were crushing too.

As for her skills in the galley, Ileisha might just be the most talented chef yet within the Below Deck franchise. A 10-course dinner, a unicorn pride-themed 7-course meal, and a “birthday cake with custard filling and tropical fruits,” these are just a few of the things that Ileisha managed to effortlessly whip up in her ever-swaying sailboat kitchen.

Unlike other chefs, Ileisha remained calm under pressure, never snapping at the crew or living in a state of angry chaos following mistakes. In this house, Ileisha was one of the greatest aspects of Season 4, and therefore, we are rooting for her return on Season 5 (please, Bravo).

Gary Lost (All) The Girl(s)

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Gary King (@king_gk)

Since Season 2, Gary has flirted shamelessly with Daisy. After flirting and getting Daisy somewhat on the hook, he’d then go and make out with other female crew members, leaving Daisy wondering every single time why she’d fallen back into Gary’s toxic patterns.

This season, however, Gary entered into filming during episode 3, due to a positive COVID-19 test. When he finally entered, he learned that crew hook-ups had already occurred. This fact seemed to fester internally, causing him to move quickly in hopes of finding “love.”

Once Gary decided that Mads Herrera would be his target, he went in, and multiple make-out sessions ensued. However, Mads was noncommittal with Gary’s attention. Watching Mads develop feelings for Alex Propson drove Gary mad, unable to grasp her abilities to like both men. Pot. Kettle. Black. You get it.

Gary also lost Daisy this season, as she developed feelings back for Colin. While Gary was often seen trying to come between the two, Daisy still chose Colin , and the pair ended the season as an item. Gary, however, ended up single, watching the Parsifal III sail through the consequences of his own actions.

Bravo said that they were just glad that nobody was hurt, and everyone, including those in the rescue effort, were safe, according to Radar Online. Below Deck Season 5 is currently filming in the Caribbean with Kate Chastain , Nico Scholly, and Captain Lee Rosbach, all of whom have been on previous seasons.

Radar Online says that Season 5 of Below Deck is underway with the home hub being in the island of St. Maarten. Off the show, a number of cast members have had some significant legal and personal problems, and for some time, it was unclear whether the show would return.

But perhaps the biggest blow to the show was the loss of Chef Ben Robinson , who has decided to pass for now on Below Deck , seeking opportunities on land, according to Radar Online . Emily Warburton-Adams, Robinson’s significant other, has also decided to jump ship, choosing to possibly work on a new project with Ben.

“I will continue to focus on my career as a chef and holistic nutritionist, the door is always open for Below Deck, and I wish the crew all the best with the upcoming season.”

Reality Tea says that Robinson had more crankiness than usual last season and a breakdown in contract negotiations that caused the chef to walk out. Another Below Deck favorite, Kate Chastain was uncertain to return after legal problems stemming from a domestic violence charge, but Bravo says she has returned to the yacht, and is officially back to work. Ben says that more than anything, the back-to-back filming seasons took their toll.

“It’s a lot. I mean, I think I was just kind of on a rollercoaster ride when I showed up. I was just thrown straight into the fire again. It was different.”

But if you are having some Chef Ben Robinson withdrawal, Bravo says that Ben and Emily, or Bemily if you prefer, are working on a YouTube cooking show for fans who fell in love with them on Below Deck. The two have been broadcasting a live cooking show on Facebook through Chef Ben’s YouTube channel. The emphasis is on healthy options, and Chef Ben says that they have done “everything from hummus to “a lovely warm white bean salad.”

The two are sharing some recipes with a side of sharp wit.

Do you think that Below Deck will be a success without Chef Ben? Do you think Bravo will show the boat sinking on the show?

The refit work took two years but was clearly worth it when we look at the result displayed in this second season of the Australian Spin off.

Although the Northern Sun is built by the Japanese Narasaki shipyard, it surely is a boat that fits Australian waters quite well and could delight anyone looking to explore the most rugged locations in style, whether they are polar or tropical.

Northern Sun is available for charter from $161,700 / week . Her latest asking price was $15,000,000 .

A man and a woman sunbathing in Triangle of Sadness

From Triangle of Sadness to Below Deck: why we love watching super-yachts that sink the rich

In a recent boom of chaos-at-sea entertainment, the 1% get the comeuppance they so often avoid on land. And it’s delicious

  • Get our weekend culture and lifestyle email

I n an interview last year, Triangle of Sadness’s cinematographer, Fredrik Wenzel, described the film’s 15-minute vomit sequence as “kind of beautiful to watch, like a ballet”. The visceral descent into madness that takes place during a captain’s dinner onboard a luxury yacht will conjure less elegant associations for some, but few will forget the scene easily.

The meal begins with the vessel’s alcoholic captain barely able to contain his disdain while greeting unsuspecting guests and gets worse from there when choppy conditions set in. Despite noble attempts to settle her stomach with “more champagne”, a Russian oligarch sprays orange bile across dishes of octopus and what looks like clear jelly, setting off a chain reaction that ends in an all-out explosion of human excrement.

Worse still, the crew and guests attempt to maintain decorum through it all, their polite chit-chat and the tinkering of fine china only adding to the horror. While the yacht’s passengers have left dry land in search of escapism, they cannot stop the (literal) muck and mire from seeping in.

Triangle of Sadness’ shit, piss and vomit-filled crescendo is the tip of the iceberg of a recent boom in chaos-at-sea entertainment. Between Bravo’s nautical reality hit Below Deck (whose Australian edition is currently mid-season), Tanya’s grisly voyage on season two of The White Lotus, the gripping season two finale of Succession and Anna Delvey’s bad boat etiquette in Inventing Anna, audiences are being saturated with television about rich people going through it on luxury yachts.

Despite the beauty of their surroundings, onscreen yacht-hoppers are often in distress, whether at the hands of fabulous and secretly murderous gay men, the imminent corporate equivalent of a man overboard or a hand grenade hurled by pirates. In a time of increasing financial inequality – as the cost of living skyrockets and economies tank – it’s comforting to imagine that holidaying on a yacht … might actually suck?

The ill-fated dinner aboard Triangle of Sadness’ luxury yacht: a ‘shit, piss and vomit-filled crescendo’.

While the definition of superyachts and the even larger megayachts are disputed – perhaps, like porn, you know it when you see it – we can all agree they function as a middle finger to the proletariat: a space for the wealthy to flaunt their privilege away from prying eyes (unless they invited the paps). While any upwardly mobile aspirant can save up for a designer handbag or blow their paycheck cosplaying at a fancy restaurant, vacationing on a yacht – with price tags anywhere from 10 to hundreds of millions to buy, and roughly $150,000 a week to charter – remains firmly out of reach.

In a recent New Yorker article from last year titled “The Haves and the Have-Yachts” , one yacht owner claimed, “Boats are the last place that I think you can get away with it.” But what exactly is “it”? For the masses, television is the only way to find out.

Onboard, whatever guests say goes – however unhinged. In the words of Triangle of Sadness’ chief stewardess, Paula: “It’s always yes sir, yes ma’am. If it’s an illegal substance they want, or a unicorn: ‘yes sir, yes ma’am!’” Later in the film, another stewardess’ can-do attitude is tested when a guest commands her to enter a Jacuzzi fully clothed as part of a mock role reversal, because “we are all equal”.

Viewers unfamiliar with Below Deck – which chronicles a group of spritely young “yachties” over a charter season – might incorrectly assume that only a fictional character would make such an absurd request – but Below Deck guests have demanded everything from the delivery of coloured gumballs (by helicopter if necessary) to dinner service by crew members wearing just loincloths.

Staff greeting guests on Below Deck.

While extreme power tripping gives guests a sense of superiority, it often belies deep insecurity and sadness. In Below Deck’s season 6 “Foam Party of One” episode , a perpetually sloppy guest named Steve demands a foam party on the yacht deck on a windy night. His fellow guests refuse to partake, so Steve stands red-faced, bow tie-clad and alone in a puddle of soapy water yelling “foam is coming! YAH! YAH!”.

The camera pans to a yachtie who whispers, “That is so sad, dude”. It’s a moment not even a producer could orchestrate, showing crew and audience alike that all the riches in the world can’t provide Steve the frat boy-fantasy that evades him.

Below Deck is particularly gratifying because it elevates the workers that some guests treat as expendable. Passengers – and their crazy antics – come and go, but the real main characters are the yachties, with their complex love triangles, allegiances and rivalries. As viewers, we align ourselves with these underdogs, who must prevail in the face of gruelling work schedules and unreasonable guests.

This dynamic recurs in Triangle of Sadness, when a shipwreck leaves a tech billionaire, a Russian oligarch and two model-influencers to answer to the former “toilet manager” Abigail, the only one in the group who possesses critical survival skills. This reversal is short lived; the film ends with Abigail facing a return to a world in which she should consider herself lucky to wait on her overlords once again: a sobering reminder that in real life, class holds steady.

We may not be able to stop the mega rich from getting away with “it”, but it is a thrill to watch them literally and metaphorically sink on screen.

Below Deck superyacht My Seanna Starship

Inside My Seanna, the star superyacht of Below Deck season nine

Related articles, superyacht directory.

As season nine of Below Deck gets underway we take a closer look at the superyacht hosting all of the action with an exclusive interview from her charter broker and Captain…

The latest season of superyacht charter TV show Below Deck may be full of colourful characters but there is one star that undoubtedly takes centre stage amidst the drama; charter superyacht Starship . Known as My Seanna during the filming but now renamed Starship following her recent multi-million sale , the 56.4 metre motor yacht was first delivered in 2000 by Seattle-based shipyard Delta Marine .

The GRP and aluminium yacht was built in just two years to a design by Glade Johnson with naval architecture by Doug Sharp . She has undergone a number of refits and upgrades since but remains instantly recognisable with her sleek, silvered hull.

Stepping inside, Starship offers accommodations for 12 guests and 11 crew. Cabins and interior spaces have been finished in a classic style with touches of opulence; richly coloured, dark wood panelling, soft furnishings in cream with gilded edges, ornate chandeliers and exquisite marble and gold features in the ensuites. A piano adds the finishing piece to the lavish saloon in which entertaining takes place and meals and drinks are hosted.

"A short but extensive refit was completed since her sale, to brighten and update the interiors, without sacrificing the opulence which makes this boat who she is," says her captain, Steve Feldman, who has been with Starship since 2003.

Starship has spent much of her life chasing the warmth, cruising through the Mediterranean during the summer months and heading back west over winter for stop-offs from Florida to Puerto Rico. She is currently based in The Bahamas and this season will be taking guests on island-hopping charters between Nassau, Eleuthera the Exumas and the Abacos. To ensure guests can fully soak up the sunshine, there are a multitude of deck spaces on board from al fresco lounges and an outdoor dining table to dedicated sunbathing areas.

A highlight is the sundeck Jacuzzi, surrounded by a cocktail bar, while down below the expansive beach club offers shaded lounge space, access to a sauna and gym, a flatscreen TV and a small galley for prepping drinks and snacks. There’s even an outdoor cinema for movie nights under the stars.

"The owner specifically purchased this yacht with chartering in the Bahamas in mind," details her charter manager at Worldwide Boat, Rod Lindor. "Ample exterior deck space, plenty of storage for toys and most importantly the shallow draft of 2.4 metres are all important elements that make Starship a great charter yacht."

However, on board spaces are not the only important element of a successful charter on Starship . To ensure all guests can make the most of their time on the water, the yacht also boasts a well-stocked toybox filled with towable inflatables, kayaks, trampolines, fishing gear, a beach party set up and gear for waterskiing or wakeboarding. Since the refit, Captain Feldman adds that the yacht offers an "enhanced toy inventory," now offering "four jet skis, four sea bobs, dive gear including a dive master and a 12 metre Intrepid tender outfitted for fishing and diving." For exploring the surrounding coastline or for making a smooth entry or exit, Starship is additionally equipped with a helipad.

"The beauty of Starship is the versatility to accommodate groups of all types; from families and corporate guests to an all adults trip," explains Lindor. "With a mixologist, personal trainer, tea sommelier, and divemaster on board, there is a little something for everyone to enjoy."

With so much on offer, Starship perfectly sets the scene for the action of Below Deck to take place while still offering the ultimate luxury experience for charter guests on board. Lindor attests that her star appearances on the show have been a positive for the yacht, which was already "a bit of a celebrity in the yachting industry" even before her involvement.

" Below Deck has been great overall for the charter industry, as it has brought chartering a yacht more mainstream. Overall the publicity has been beneficial," adds Lindor.

Starship is managed for charter by Worldwide Boat with a weekly charter rate starting from $260,000. Episodes of Below Deck season nine air on Bravo every Monday at 21:00 ET, or can be streamed via Peacock TV the next day.

There's A Monster At Both Ends Of This Boat: 'Below Deck Mediterranean'

Linda Holmes

Linda Holmes

below deck yacht sinks

Captain Sandy Yawn, Hannah Ferrier, and Aesha Scott are part of the cast of the fourth season of Below Deck Mediterranean. Greg Endries/Bravo hide caption

Captain Sandy Yawn, Hannah Ferrier, and Aesha Scott are part of the cast of the fourth season of Below Deck Mediterranean.

How did this happen to me?, you may wonder as a weekend afternoon sinks into the deep blue waters of the figurative Mediterranean. I had plans for today. I had dreams. I am still in my pajamas, and it is three o'clock in the afternoon. My bones feel like bungee cords. I may never get up.

Bravo has a lot of shows about weirdos who are obscenely rich, led by their many clumps of Real(ish) Housewives(ish) scattered across the country. It has fewer shows about the people who work for weirdos who are obscenely rich.* For my money, its best entry in that category is the Below Deck vertical (often actually a horizontal, hiyo!), which includes both original Below Deck (set in the Caribbean) and the spinoff Below Deck Mediterranean . Both of these shows are about crews of chartered "superyachts," mostly made up of young, adventurous hot people who leave all kinds of nascent careers to spend time inflating water slides for tycoons to rest their behinds upon as they rocket from the deck down into the sea. (Only temporarily. They are allowed back on the boat.)

Each season follows a single yacht and its crew as charter groups get on and off, spending anywhere between one night and several nights looking out at the beautiful blue water, eating chef-prepared meals that they often complain about, and getting roaring drunk.** Sometimes, charter groups drink beer and wine, but sometimes they seem obsessed with some particular cocktail like espresso martinis or Piña Coladas or something with a cute name that sounds made-up. The crew ferries them to the shore for various excursions and beach picnics, keeps the boat from crashing into the rocks, and make out in their cabins.

Because, of course, while much of the drama comes from the Get A Load Of These Rich Goofballs aspect of it all, you are really spending your season with the crew, made up of the chef, the stewardesses (or steward, if applicable, which is rare), and the deckhands and bosun who do most of the actual boat stuff. On this season of Below Deck Mediterranean , the crew includes Hannah, the chief stew; Anastasia and Aesha, the other stews; João, the bosun; Colin, Jack and Travis, the deckhands; and Ben, the chef. (Ben has worked on both regular Below Deck and Below Deck Med , and he wound up in this season after the original chef committed a series of unforced errors, including making pancakes from a boxed mix and still having trouble turning them out.) The captain's name is Sandy Yawn, and you can write your own reality television jokes, thank you very much.***

At Bravo, A Pop-Culture Kingpin Works Day And Night

At Bravo, A Pop-Culture Kingpin Works Day And Night

Some of these people have kissed. Some of these people have done more than kissed. (There are night-vision cameras in their bunks.) Many of them have had knock-down, drag-out fights. Captain Sandy read Hannah the riot act recently for not having the table set at 8:30 in the morning when brunch was scheduled for 10:30. As Hannah looked at her, baffled, Sandy speculated that the beautiful wood table, kept so shiny and reflective that you could apply eyeliner in it, wasn't adequately "inviting" in case someone got up early and wanted a cup of coffee. She said this, of course, while standing on a yacht in the middle of the Mediterranean where there is literally nowhere to go that doesn't have a view, where there are countless plushy fluffy couches, and where you can get someone to bring you that coffee right in the hot tub if you like. But no! They must sit at a table set with dishes, growing crusty with salt from the sea air two hours before breakfast!

Look, these are the stakes. If there's any show on television that cares more about setting the table correctly than Downton Abbey , it's Below Deck Med . In fact, you can think of Below Deck Med as the Downton Abbey of Bravo with much more drinking and less being scandalized by jazz, and you won't be too far off. Where Downton has the downstairs staff who are only too honored to serve the very wealthy people who never do any work, Below Deck Med has beautiful people in their twenties who are knocking themselves out to try to impress finance goobers who demand Great Gatsby theme parties and seven-course meals.

(As a side note, it was sort of fun this season when the original chef, Mila, who is allegedly Cordon Bleu trained, started hauling out what she wanted to serve to rich charter guests. Captain Sandy looked at a plate full of boxed taco shells with unguarded horror, as if they were obscene candies from a bachelorette party, which, by the way, are totally something a Below Deck Med guest would ask for.)

I don't know how to explain the tendency of this show to devour hours of my attention once I get started. It might be the delicate balance, though. Below Deck Med is perfectly balanced between the snark of the crew about the guests and the haughtiness of the guests about the crew, the hyper-drama over who kissed who during one of the crew's sloshed nights off between charters and the absurdly mundane arguments about ironing. Ironing! There was an entire multi-episode plotline in one season about whether the chef was ignoring a guest's distaste for onions. Onions!

There's sex! There are chores! There are humiliating toga parties! They once spent nine hours untangling the anchor chain, and it felt like we saw most of it! The fourth season concludes Monday night, and I will be there. Making my own drinks.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Recap: Love Island

Below deck sailing yacht.

below deck yacht sinks

The latest season of  Vanderpump Rules  may be over, but the Bravo gods have blessed us with  Below Deck ’s own version of Scandoval to keep us occupied, with Gary in the Tom Sandoval role, Colin sort of in Ariana’s shoes, and Daisy as a version of Raquel who’s much less in the wrong.

After Colin fixes the clogged toilet in Mads and Daisy’s cabin, everyone gathers for the tip meeting, where Captain Glenn shares that they got a $13,000 tip. This might be good for a short charter, but I feel like those ladies should’ve paid more since one guest had the nerve to accuse the crew of stealing her stuff and then didn’t even bother apologizing.

The crew pregame their night out with a small party for Gary, where Daisy jokes that they should all drink every time Gary sleeps with a stew, which kills the mood and makes him upset. He pulls Daisy aside and asks her to be nice to him because she always brings him “down in front of people” with her rude comments disguised as jokes. Daisy dwells on this throughout dinner, confiding in Ileisha that she feels bad because she never intended to hurt his feelings. But really, Daisy is doing God’s work by humbling him.

Once they’re back on the boat, Mads, Alex, and Lucy share a short three-way kiss while Gary asks Colin if he will hook up with Daisy again. Moments later, while Colin is at the bar with Alex, Daisy practically begs Gary to give her a hug, and he tells her he’ll give her a kiss, too, as long as the guys aren’t looking. She then apologizes to Gary for making him feel bad, and he says that it hurts more when it comes from her because “I care for you so much.” I can’t tell if Gary genuinely has feelings for Daisy or if he’s just desperate to keep her away from Colin.

Daisy shares that she has never had a romantic experience like the one she has with Colin, who isn’t like other guys (* cough * Gary) because he’s loyal and kind. Cut to a shot of the hallway leading to the guest cabins, where Gary and Mads are banging as Gary sings “happy birthday to me!” in a way that will haunt me forever. Petition for Bravo to stop including the cringey sex noises, not just because it’s gross but because they at least deserve a sliver of privacy.

The crew gets the entire next day off, which they’ll be spending at a touristy local beach club with their own private cabana, which becomes the site of so much chaos. Let’s get the non-love-triangle drama out of the way first. While drunk Mads wants to have sex so badly that she’ll constantly slither into Gary’s bed, sober Mads is completely repulsed by the man. She calls him a “weirdo” for touching her belly button, and instead of listening, he keeps touching her so much that Colin tells him to “stop being clingy,” which is the best advice he’ll ever hear.

Later, in a moment straight out of  Love Island , Mads and Lucy step away from the group to chat on the daybed about where Mads’s “head is at.” Mads says she doesn’t take Gary seriously (who would?) because of his shitty personality and behavior, and I can’t blame her. She adds that she won’t show “serious emotions” to someone who doesn’t act serious toward her, which is a level of emotional maturity rare in Gary’s past onscreen romantic partners. In a confessional, Lucy, the  Parsifal ’s new voice of reason, says that she feels bad for Mads because Gary has trapped her despite not being exclusive. Mads has really only been hooking up with Gary out of convenience, so I’d love to see her finally pursue something with Alex, who is much hotter than Gary.

Ileisha, who is excited to finally have the chance to relax, instead gets thrown into a bad mood when Colin mentions how the chef last season, Marcos, was on another level of excellence in the galley. Ileisha takes this as an insult to her work and runs to the bathroom to cry, telling us that Colin should be uplifting her instead of bringing her down. I don’t think Colin intended the comment to be hurtful, but I still feel for Ileisha. Not only has she been a refreshing presence on the show, but she has consistently put out amazing meals despite the hurdles that have come her way. I’d hate to see her let some minor feedback get in the way right after she’s finally received some positive comments from Captain Glenn.

Speaking of Captain Glenn, he takes advantage of having the boat all to himself by spending the day playing on the eFoil and having drinks in the Jacuzzi. Relatable king! I would do anything to see an episode composed of just clips of him doing random things around the boat.

Now that we’ve gotten all that out of the way, it’s time to dig into the main event. Gary and Daisy spend the entire beach day being very touchy with each other. Gary tells her how beautiful she looks several times and, even worse, goes so far as to motorboat her boobs. Gary has absolutely zero respect for Colin or Mads, whom he was just commanding not to be affectionate with other men. And I hate to say it, but Daisy also doesn’t show much consideration for Colin here. Colin is shocked by what he’s witnessing even though, as he tells us, they’ve always had a flirty dynamic (he’s so clueless). Welcome to the world of  Below Deck  boatmances, Colin! All of this behavior from Gary and Daisy (but mostly Daisy) is baffling to me, but I have to assume that the editors played it up as a segue into the bombshell reveal.

Speaking of the big reveal, Gary spills that he and Daisy previously had sex, which would’ve been much more exciting — albeit unsurprising because it was pretty obvious — had it not already been spoiled by the mid-season preview. In the moments leading up to the reveal, Gary gets annoyed at dinner when he sees Daisy and Colin engaging in PDA. He tells Daisy that he thinks “we need to be together,” and Daisy says that his immediately hooking up with Mads at the start of the season showed her what she meant to him. Gary then says, “I know you like Colin as a mate, but I know you actually have feelings for me,” which is manipulative as hell.

They leave the table to continue arguing, and Gary tells Daisy that everything would’ve been different had he not gotten COVID and then suggests that she’s only hooking up with Colin to spite him. Daisy tells him she doesn’t want to be with him because he bangs everyone and that he only wants her now that he can’t have her, which is all true. He then snidely says that “Having sex with you was fucking amazing,” in a way that is so sinister I wanted to slap him. Daisy confirms in a confessional that they slept together twice after season three wrapped — once while in Menorca and the other time during a trip to Disneyland — and that she asked him not to tell anyone.

Look, I know this is a reality show and everything, but it’s childish and borderline evil for Gary to disclose their personal information in such a retaliatory way. You can’t spend years acting like a fuckboy and then get mad when someone you like yet constantly disregard starts hooking up with someone else. Gary’s the one speaking publicly about their personal lives for revenge, yet he believes that Daisy is pursuing Colin to get back at him … make it make sense!!

In what feels like fan fiction at this point, Daisy feels torn between the bad boy and the nice guy. Regardless of how much she denies having feelings for Gary, it’s clear there’s still a spark there. If she didn’t feel anything for him, she would’ve shut him down and fully moved on a long time ago, but she tells us that the only thing really holding her back from being with him is the fact that he’s a manwhore who can’t stay loyal. While she may have real feelings for Colin, I think she only believes she should be with him because he’s the more well-adjusted and acceptable choice.

Back on the boat, Alex tells Mads he would “totally smash” her, and for a second, she has him convinced that they will before she ditches him to jump in Gary’s bed. This dumb decision made me want to scream at my laptop since she’s been waiting all season for Alex to make a move.

While Daisy and Colin make out in bed, she stops and decides that it’s the perfect time to let him know that she and Gary had sex twice, which makes him feel “a little confused” since he thought there wasn’t anything going on between them. Valid! Especially since they’ve denied it all season. He decides to go sleep in his room, and Daisy begs him not to leave as he expresses how he feels stupid for being lied to by his friends.

This episode may have delivered the goods (drama), but I can’t help but be put off by Gary’s increasingly disgusting behavior, which has become more difficult to watch by the minute.
