For those people, there are yachts like Adastra , a sleek, custom-built trimaran that's currently on the market for a cool $12 million. 

The extravagant vessel — which looks less like a yacht and more like something out of "Star Wars" — is built for exploration, according to Burgess Yachts , which has the boat listed for sale. Due to its streamlined shape and lightweight construction, Adastra can travel across the Atlantic twice over without needing to refuel. Plus, Adastra's unique design means it can venture into shallow harbors and get up close to islands, unlike most traditional yachts.

But this multimillion-dollar yacht is built for pleasure, too — it sports multiple sunbathing areas, a diving platform, a lavish main room, three cabins for guests, and space for six crew members.

Commissioned in 2012 by shipping tycoon Anto Marden at a cost of at least $20 million, according to Robb Report, the trimaran yacht was built to cover vast distances and cross oceans.

Thanks to its efficient shape, lightweight construction, and 15,000-liter fuel capacity, Adastra boasts a range of 10,000 nautical miles, or roughly 11,500 miles.

That means the 140-foot ship can cross the Atlantic twice over without having to refuel, and its owner has done just that, he told Robb Report.

Plus, the yacht sits less than four feet below the water line, so it can venture into shallow harbors where traditional yachts can't.

After spending several years cruising the globe aboard Adastra, Marden is ready to sell the head-turning vessel and give more attention to his other yacht, he told Robb Report.

To keep passengers comfortable on long journeys, Adastra is every bit as luxurious as it is capable.

The question of ‘how much can 20 million dollars generate per year' is a great one, but it’s not the easiest answer to give since there are so many investment options.

Based on my research and my experience, you can expect to get the below rates for the respective investments.

Savings: 0.65%

Corporate bond: 2-3%

Annuity: 3.5%

Certificate of Deposit: 5%

Real Estate: 7%

S&P 500 Index Fund: 10%

The real estate percentage is my estimate based on the crazy price of homes today (rental rates have not kept up with housing prices). And, the S&P 500 is based on thehistorical average i when including dividend reinvestment.

So now to answer the question of “What is the yearly interest on 20 million dollars?”

With a 0.65% savings account: $130,000 a year

3.5% annuity: $700,000 a year

5% Certificate of Deposit: $1,000,000 a year

7% real estate: $1,400,000 a year

And, 10% in S&P 500: $2,000,000 per year

So what is the interest on 20 million dollars annually?

On average...about $700k-$800k a year.

The savings account earnings of $130,000 seems like a waste of time and the S&P 500 earnings looks CRAZY! I mean, earn $2,000,000 a year??! Dang, that would be pretty nice!

Before you go with one option or the other, be sure to factor in the risk element. A savings account is quite safe. The stock market is definitely less safe, and you could lose 40% of your money in a very short period of time (remember 2020?)!

Using the same investment figures as above, here’s how much you would earn each month on 20 million dollars:

5% Certificate of Deposit: $83,333 a month

7% real estate: $116,667 a month

Seems like a crazy question (these are BIG dollar amounts we're throwing around here), but let's explore it anyway. "If you withdrew $1 million a year, how long would 20 million dollars last you?"

Based on Calc XML's online calculator (and investing at 6% a year), your money will actually keep on growing! The nest egg amount would never go down!

After 20 years, you wouldn't have $20,000,000...You'd have $27,000,000! Well that's pretty solid!! So, it's safe to say that anything less than a $1 million withdrawal each year would result in your nest egg increasing over time!

What if we look at some bigger amounts?

Alright, so if you spend $1 million a year on your $20,000,000 nest egg, that pile of money will keep going up in value. But what if you upped the ante a little?

The answer: 27 years

Well that's not terrible! If you retired at 65 years old with $20 million and spent $1.5 million a year, you'd run out of money at 92 years old. Chances are, you're probably not alive at 92, so this might be just about right!

If you retired at 65 years old with 20 million dollars and withdrew 2 million dollars a year, you would run out of money at 81 years old.

Obviously not ideal, but still not bad! You'd live quite the lavish retirement for those 16 years!

Can you believe people ask this question? They want to know if they are considered rich if they are worth 20 million dollars.

Per the chart below, if you were worth just $1 million, you'd be in the top 10% of the population. In other words, if you had a million bucks, I'd consider you rich! And, if you were worth $20 million, you'd easily be in the top 1% of people in the United States.

If you're asking what to do with 20 million dollars, you're probably not wondering how to spend it all. Instead, you're asking about how to invest it and make it work for you! I

'm not a trained investor and I can't tell you what to do with your money, but this really isn't rocket science.

If you want to earn 6% on your $20 million, here's what I would do:

Invest about a $2M of it in an annuity that earns 3.5%.

Over time, develop a solid portfolio of rental properties (maybe 30% of your nest egg). This should earn you at least 7% each year.

And finally, I'd put the rest into a simple index fund that represents the total stock market. This has historically earned 10%.

Between those three simple options, over the long-term, you'll almost certainly earn 6% on average per year. Again, not rocket science, not sophisticated, not confusing. Just simple returns. That's all you need with such a huge retirement fund!

Over $20 million worth of property went up in flames early Saturday in Florida, where two multimillion-dollar yachts were destroyed in a fire.

More than 60 firefighters and three fire boats battled the blaze at Universal Marine Center docks in Fort Lauderdale, working to prevent the fire from spreading to other yachts nearby.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue reported that nobody was injured.

Officials believe the blaze began on a 160-foot yacht named Lohengrin and spread to a neighboring 100-foot yacht named Reflections.

The estimated loss from the fire is more than $20 million, said Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.

Crews were still on the scene of the fire Sunday, working to remove scaffolding surrounding the boats and extinguish hot spots, according to a Twitter post by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.

The yachts appear to have been under construction prior to the fire, indicated by scaffolding and tarps surrounding the boats.

After the hot spots have been snuffed out, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said they will begin salvage efforts and an investigation into what caused the blaze.

Japan to give IAEA $20 million to support watchdog's activities

The government said Thursday it will provide the International Atomic Energy Agency with about €18.5 million ($20 million) and affirmed with visiting IAEA chief Rafael Grossi its commitment to continue cooperating over the release of treated radioactive water from the disaster-hit Fukushima nuclear power plant into the sea.

During talks with the IAEA director-general in Tokyo, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida vowed to continue to work with the IAEA and "broaden the international community's understanding" on the water discharge "with a high level of transparency," according to the government.

The discharge from the Fukushima No. 1 plant remains a controversial issue, with China imposing a blanket import ban on seafood products from Japan. Tokyo has urged Beijing to lift the restriction immediately.

Grossi told Kishida that he confirmed during his trip to Fukushima Prefecture on Wednesday that the water release is being carried out safely and as planned, in full accordance with international standards, according to the government.

Recalling his meeting with local authorities and fishermen on Wednesday, the IAEA chief told reporters in Tokyo that he perceived "satisfaction" regarding data indicating "no harmful effects on the environment" so far.

"They are counting on the IAEA to stay there to continue its permanent and independent work as a means to provide this credible assurance that everything is going as it should," he said.

Japan expects to dispose of over 1.3 million metric tons of the treated water, which has been pooled in over 1,000 tanks, as a key step in decommissioning the plant, crippled by a severe nuclear accident triggered by the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

The water, processed to remove most radionuclides except tritium, is diluted with seawater to one-fortieth of the concentration permitted under Japanese safety standards before being released via an underwater tunnel 1 kilometer off the power plant.

Grossi inspected the plant's water sampling facilities and the procedure of diluting and releasing the treated water on Wednesday, to ensure the liquid is released as planned and the levels of tritium in the water are extremely low.

In July, the IAEA submitted a report to Japan, concluding that the water release aligns with global safety standards and that the discharge would have a "negligible radiological impact on people and the environment."

Grossi and Kishida also agreed during their meeting to bolster cooperation over the peaceful use of nuclear energy and nonproliferation of nuclear weapons.

The IAEA chief separately met Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa, who announced the financial aid to IAEA following their talks.

The aid is intended to support the IAEA's efforts to utilize nuclear technology to tackle global challenges such as climate change, food security and public health, Kamikawa said, citing insect pest control method using radiation and crop improvement programs as examples.

Winning $2M Illinois lottery scratch-off ticket sold at suburban gas station

 An Illinois man has become a millionaire after purchasing a winning $2 million scratch-off lottery ticket at a suburban gas station, according to the Illinois Lottery.

The winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, purchased the $20 Illinois Jackpot ticket at a Shell gas station, 4555 North Nagle Ave., in north suburban Harwood Heights.

The lucky lottery player, who stopped into the gas station on his way home from work late one night, couldn't believe it when he saw the prize.

“I stopped into the station and bought the $20 scratch-off ticket,” the anonymous winner explained. “When I scratched it off, I thought it was a joke. I just thought, ‘No way this can’t be real…’ so I scanned it to make sure and it said I’m a winner. I’ve been in complete shock since then.”

The unnamed winner says there's a certain reasaon he mightvhave won big.

“As it turns out, I think the owner of the Shell station might just be my lucky charm,” he said. “He seems to have sold a number of winning lottery tickets over the years – good thing I stopped at that Shell to buy my ticket!”

For its part, the gas station will receive 1% of the total prize amount, which is $20,000.

However, this isn't the first time the establishment has sold a big winning ticket. Someone purchased a winning $600,000 scratch-off at the same gas station in November 2022.
