Redneck mud park to host 4-day ‘trucks gone wild’ bonanza, written by: florida country magazine.

Get ready to have fun and get muddy in Southwest Florida by taking part in the Trucks Gone Wild Fall Classic at Florida-based Redneck Mud Park located in Punta Gorda. The four-day mud bonanza, set for Nov. 10 to 13, 2022, will include Mega Mud Truck races, a truck tug-o-war, live music with country-rap artist Savannah Dexter, camping, vendors and—of course—a whole lot of mud! The park, originally named Redneck Yacht Club, was built and opened by founder Danny Kelly in December 2008. In his youth, Kelly and his friends were often chased off private property while riding, so his keen desire to provide a place for off-road enthusiasts to ride came from the heart. Kelly began acquiring land in eastern Charlotte County in the 1990s and worked it as a potato farm until 2006, when he initiated the permitting process for the park. He was

granted final approval in early 2008 and laid out plans for the world-class mud park that he envisioned. Construction took nearly a year, with Kelly’s goal “to satisfy every type of rider and provide a fun yet safe environment for everyone who enters the gate.” As the owner of Kelly Brothers Marine Construction, he had the materials on hand to build a tough, sturdy infrastructure on almost 500 acres of his farm. Kelly knew that building the best mud park in the country would require it to be unique in many ways. So, in addition to creating monster mud holes and miles of trails, he built an oval race track for Mega Mud Truck racing, poured a cement pad for the truck tugs, constructed a huge permanent stage for nightly entertainment, and carved out a half-dozen camping areas. He also designed and built a state-of-the-art “Buggy Wash,” where folks can clean off the mud after a day of getting dirty. It’s a social gathering spot

where park visitors can drive their muddy vehicles through the huge structure to be pressure-washed. When he was finished, Kelly had spent more than a million dollars to provide the area with “The World’s Most Exciting Off-Road Park.” Redneck Yacht Club opened to the public in late 2008, and mud fans from all over the state flocked to the new park. Its reputation quickly grew, attracting thousands to weekend-long mud gatherings. Folks brought big trucks, swamp buggies, and four-wheelers of all kinds to participate in the now world-famous events. The park became a “must visit” destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Over the years, many additions have been made to the property. Bleachers have been added to the Mega Mud Truck racetrack, a dedicated “vendor row” features food and merchandise, and an ATV and Side x Side-only riding area adds to the appeal and value of a weekend ticket. In 2015, the name of the venue was changed to Redneck Mud Park to better describe the fun that goes on during the long muddy weekend events. The park will open early Thursday morning, Nov. 10, to provide four full days of muddy riding for all attendees. Thursday and Friday night will feature entertainment at the main stage, and you definitely do not want to miss country-rap artist Savannah Dexter Saturday night. Craig Morgan’s “Redneck Yacht Club” is The Best Second Hit Song Ever 

Most of us have already had our fill of summer fun, right? Such as drinking beer and just having a good time with our friends and family. Craig Morgan’s album My Kind of Livin’, which features two of his greatest hits , captures the same vibe. “Redneck Yacht Club” and “That’s What I Love About Sunday.”

“Redneck Yacht Club,” the second single from his album My Kind of Livin’, was released in 2005. It reached number two on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, trailing Keith Urban’s “Better Life.”

Peter Zavadil directed the music video, which was shot at Tennessee’s Percy Priest Lake. Morgan may be seen having the fun of his life with his buddies in the summer heat. The music is lively in a way that will make your body sway.

That might be why so many listeners fell in love with it. So much so that the RIAA awarded the song a GOLD for 500,000 sales and another GOLD for digital downloads. Thom Shepherd and Steve Williams wrote the song initially.

As of 2022, the music video on YouTube still has a reasonably high number of views, with around 26 million views in total. The music video includes a soothing background track and an upbeat vibe. That might be the reason why so many listeners, both old and new, were able to resonate with it.

And for some additional fun fact about the song, Blake Shelton , Aaron Tippin , and other country music stars also made a cameo appearance in the said music video. The party that the group of devoted friends is throwing represents the enjoyment they experience on the lake “all summer long.” 

On the other hand, Craig Morgan once told USA Today that he believes ‘redneck’ was once regarded as a negative word, but that is no longer the case. For him, it’s now more of a way of life than anything else.

On ‘Enlisted,’ country star Craig Morgan gets a little help from his friends like Blake Shelton

LOS ANGELES (AP) — In July, country music star Craig Morgan reenlisted in the Army Reserves on the historic Grand Ole Opry stage. At age 59, the process required a waiver and an extensive physical test. It also inspired the title for the new EP he had been working on: “Enlisted,” out Friday.

The six-song collection includes two new tracks and a few reimaginations of his hits, alongside A-list and up-and-coming collaborators like Blake Shelton , Trace Adkins, Luke Combs, Lainey Wilson , and Jelly Roll.

The Opry holds particular meaning to Morgan — it’s not only a stage he’s frequented, but it is also where he spent his last evening with his 19-year-old son Jerry , who drowned in 2016. “After what happened, happened, everything takes on a new meaning,” he says. “Us not having his physical presence, (he) was missed.”

Previously, Morgan served 17 years in the Army and Army Reserve with the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions as an E-6 Staff Sergeant and Fire Support Specialist. He says he’s always regretted not hitting the 20 years of service mark, and reenlisting allows him the opportunity.

Morgan hopes he inspires others to do the same. “Recruiting is the worst that it’s been since the inception of the military,” he says. “I’m marrying both my worlds, my world of music and my world of military.”

As for the EP — Morgan says he wasn’t crazy about the idea of re-recording some of his biggest hits. His manager wanted him to re-do “Redneck Yacht Club,” and he wasn’t sure — until he performed another hit, “Almost Home,” at the Opry in 2022 with up-and-comer Jelly Roll and was confronted with his songs’ impact.

Jelly Roll was almost moved to tears when he described how the song gave him hope. “I realized that ‘Almost Home,’ what it did for Jelly impacted a whole new audience as well as my old audience,” Morgan says. “And I thought there might be a place to revisit these songs.”

“Enlisted” features a new recording of the track with Jelly Roll (“He epitomizes what love is,” Morgan says of the rapper-turned-country singer. “No barriers, no walls,”). Country Music Awards favorite Wilson joins Morgan on “International Harvester.”

“Lainey Wilson had listened to it growing up with her dad, riding around in the truck on the farm,” he says.

“Redneck Yacht Club,” too, gets a facelift, now with Jimmy Buffet -style steel drums and contributions from Shelton, who was featured in the original 2005 music video.

“I absolutely love him. He’s my favorite idiot,” Morgan says of his longtime friend. “I called him up and said, ‘I’m re-cutting some songs. I want you on ‘Redneck Yacht Club,’ because, I don’t know if you remember, but your Mullet-ed self was in the video.’” Shelton, of course, said yes.

As for the two new tracks, Morgan partnered with Combs on “Raise the Bar,” and Adkins on “That Ain’t Gonna Be Me.”

“Enlisted” reworks Morgan’s biggest hits and celebrates the current country musician generation. “There’s something to be said about singing a song that the majority of our populace wants to be able to relate to, or can relate to,” he says. “And that’s what great country does; I believe.”
