Where to Soak Up the Sun

When you imagine Viva, envision yourself swimming on top of the ocean. This ship was built around a myriad of pools, including two Infinity Pools, a main pool, an Aqua Park, a tidal wave slide and countless hot tubs. Viva takes relaxation and water play to a whole new level. Her most unique water features live on Deck 8 at Ocean Boulevard's Infinity Beach , where you'll find two breathtaking Infinity Pools on either side, surrounded by lounge chairs and daybeds. It doesn't get much better than lying in the sun, listening to the waves, then floating in an Infinity Pool as you stare directly into the ocean. Or simply splash off in the convenient cooling pools encircling the daybeds. Because life on Viva is easy like that. Starting on Deck 17, the main pool deck is full of fun experiences as well — it features two infinity hot tubs, a pool bar, a Kid's Aqua Park , a sun deck and Norwegian's tidal wave waterslide .

Where to Get Your Eat On

Complimentary Dining

With so many dining options, you may not know where to start. We know that our guests want many of their meals to be complimentary, so we've added a host of additional options that allow you to eat in style while saving up for those special nights. Often, cruisers head directly to the buffet on board — Viva's is at Surfside Café , and we've added an outdoor Surfside Grill for a quick bite like hot dogs, burgers and more. But we actually encourage guests to head straight to Norwegian's food hall, Indulge Food Hall , where diners can choose from 11 stations around the globe. Indian, Italian, Chinese, BBQ, rotisserie, tapas, desserts and more are all complimentary! Then sit inside, outside, or even grab-and-go for a 'picnic' at one of the many lounging areas around the ship. It's so delicious, you'll want to try it right away.

Viva has a spectacular main dining room too — Hudson's . With 270-degree views of the ocean, floor-to-ceiling windows, and modern menus made with the freshest ingredients, you may never want to leave. Our second main dining room, The Commodore Room , offers fine dining in a comfortable atmosphere, with delicious menus (don't miss the chocolate lava cake) and contemporary decor.

What's a vacation without a few special nights? We've thought long and hard about those indulgent moments on Viva to ensure we're delivering the absolute best. The ship is home to Norwegian's Mediterranean restaurant, Palomar — a spectacular and stunning seafood-forward eatery. Look forward to opulent dishes like a full salted fish and grilled octopus. Another new element on Viva is a dedication to sustainable food and drink, which can be experienced at the new Metropolitan bar. Craft cocktails that minimize food waste and biodynamic wines will make you feel like you're doing good for the world — while sipping amazing drinks on the ocean. Our popular teppanyaki-style restaurant has been updated and renamed — Hasuki offers all the favorite dishes and excitement, in a more elevated environment. Our classic French restaurant, Le Bistro , has been outfitted with a jaw-dropping hand-blown chandelier, which is not to be missed. And of course, favorites like Cagney's Steakhouse , Onda by Scarpetta and Le Bistro French restaurant will be on board (with a bit of Prima flair, naturally).

We promised that Viva would elevate every expectation and she's done just that. Get ready to be entertained from dusk to dawn (and beyond). All of our shows now take place in the new, transformational Viva Theater and Club . This venue converts from a three-story theater to a spectacular Vegas-style nightclub. Inside, you can be part of Press Your Luck Live , see shows like Beetlejuice: The Musical , and party with live DJs and cutting-edge light shows late at night.

When you simply want to grab a coffee or evening drink and spend some time leisurely people-and-horizon-watching, head to the Penrose Atrium . This gorgeous space is three magnificent stories high, with breathtaking views at every angle. And speaking of levels, The Viva Speedway is the first ever three-level race track at sea. It's longer and faster than any of our previous race tracks (which were already the first of their kind), so get ready to put the pedal to the metal.

Where to Get Your Thrills

One thing is certain — you will never, ever run out of things to do on Viva. In between sunbathing and swimming, dining around the world, and being entertained from dusk till dawn, there are, of course, an endless amount of show-stopping activities. The new The Rush and The Drop will get your heart racing — they are the fastest dry slides at sea. You'll also want to spend a lot more time on Ocean Boulevard — a one-third mile boardwalk with restaurants, bars, lounge areas and Oceanwalk , Norwegian's glass walkway at sea. Here, you'll also find The Concourse — a breathtaking, curated, outdoor sculpture garden unlike anything you've ever seen on a cruise ship. If you're into social media, the pictures here will create some serious travel envy.

VIVA: The $250 Million Superyacht Of UFC Owner Frank Fertitta III

From his current position as CEO of Station Casinos to how he – alongside brother Lorenzo and childhood friend Dana White – transformed the UFC into a multi-billion-dollar promotion , there’s virtually endless information about how Frank Fertitta III made his fortune. How he chooses to spend said fortune, however, is a little more mysterious (at least for the fun stuff). One such indulgence we know the elder Fertitta brother has treated himself to is the ultra-luxurious Feadship-built superyacht known as Viva, which comes with an eye-watering price tag of US$175 million / AU$252 million.

Conceptualised by Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture in collaboration with De Voogt Naval Architects, while also showcasing interiors accomplished by Peter Marino, Viva was only completed in the Netherlands last year and delivered shortly thereafter.

Back to the matter of Viva, it boasts an overall length of 308 feet / 94 metres with a 13.6-metre beam and gross tonnage of 2,999 – making it the 85th largest superyacht in the entire world; seventh largest ever constructed by Feadship – and can comfortably accommodate 14 guests across seven cabins alongside a capable crew of 18.

Viva has been called the “most environmentally-friendly luxury vessel of its kind” due to it featuring a hybrid propulsion system that allows the boat to cruise using diesel-electric power, as well as a waste treatment plant and heat recovering systems.

The 2022-built MS VIVA One cruise ship is owned by the Swiss company Scylla AG (shipowner) and chartered to its German subsidiary company and travel brand VIVA Cruises (fleet) . VIVA One cruises on Rhine River.

The April 2022-inaugurated riverboat VIVA One is the first newbuild ordered specifically for Scylla's new travel brand VIVA Cruises. Also in 2022 (December) was completed the sistership VIVA Two (deployed on Danube River) and inaugurated in March 2023. 

VIVA One's sisterships started operations in March 2023 (VIVA Two/ on Danube) and in September 2024 ( VIVA Enjoy / on Danube).

Like the sisterships, VIVA One has a total of 76 solar panels (mounted on the sundeck) supporting the electrical system.

Decks and Cabins

MS VIVA One ship has 4 passenger decks and a total of 88 staterooms for 176 passengers.

All passenger cabins are outside and most are sized 16 m2 (170 ft2).

All staterooms are equipped with double beds (convertible to twins/lower single beds), deluxe bedding (linens, pillows, duvets), bedside tables, wall-mounted reading lamps, wardrobe, mirrored vanity table/writing desk with chair, sofa chair (near the window), Nespresso coffee machine, full bathroom (glass-wall shower, WC-toilet, LED mirrored washbasin/on-top sink vanity, RITUALS bath products), hairdryer, smart HDTV (satellite reception, infotainment system), minibar (complimentary), phone (intercom / onboard connections only), electronic safe box (in the closet), individually controlled air-conditioning.

Deck 1 (Emerald) cabins are with 2x non-opening windows (quarter-height) located near the ceiling. All Deck 2 (Ruby) and Deck 3 (Diamond) cabins are French Balcony staterooms (with floor-ceiling sliding glass doors opening to a railing/false balcony). The boat also has 10x Suites (with midship and aft location, also with French balconies) that are larger (sized 23-24 m2 / 245-260 ft2).

One Lift (midship passenger elevator) interconnects all cabin decks, Staircases connect all decks. A Stairlift connects decks 3 and 4 (Sundeck).

WiFi is complimentary and with shipwide coverage. Laundry services cost extra (available for a fee).

Shipboard facilities and amenities

The riverboat VIVA One has all 3 dining options (all complimentary): Riverside Restaurant (fore-located Dining Room), Viva's Bistro (aft-located restaurant and bar lounge)) and Alfresco Bar & Buffet (Sundeck).

Riverside Restaurant is with single-seating capacity, an open-seating arrangement and flexible dining times, while Viva's Bistro requires dinner reservations. The Dining Room's menu includes both local dishes (itinerary-based on visited countries) and international cuisine specialties. Viva's Bistro is an alternative (to Riverside) restaurant serving lunch and dinner (including themed buffets) and operated as a bar lounge during the day. The Bistro has a small terrace (wraparound balcony) with stern views. From Viva's Bistro (via two outdoor staircases) is accessed the Sundeck's pool area (Jacuzzi).

On Diamond Deck is the boat's Lobby area with two entrances (portside and starboard), Reception Desk (24-hour guest services and assistance), Travel Desk (Tour Office for VIVA's Cruise Director, excursions information and booking), Boutique (Gift Shop).

The riverboat's wellness complex is on Emerald Deck (deck 1) and consists of Fitness (Gym Room), Hair Salon (nail salon, hairdresser/barber services), Spa (Massage Room), Sauna Room (infrared), Steam Bath.

On Sun Deck are located the Wheelhouse (Navigation Bridge), 5x retractable Awnings (shaded seating areas with loungers and deckchairs), fore-located Alfresco Lounge (full bar service from the Panorama Lounge below) and aft-located games area (with Putting Green Mini-Golf) and Jacuzzi (spa pool and showers). Near the Wheelhouse are stored electric bikes available for rent (complimentary/limited number).

The fore-located on Ruby Deck Bar Lounge (Panorama) has floor-ceiling windows, comfortable seating (tables, sofas, armchairs), dance floor, grand piano (for live performances in the afternoons and evenings) and is served by its own Bar. Onboard entertainment includes daily live music performances (by a resident pianist), cooking demonstrations, quiz games, bingo, crew show, themed dance nights, enrichment lectures and media presentations (related to the cruisetour itinerary's destinations, ports, excursions).

From Panorama Lounge is accessed the bow-located Lido Terrace - an outdoor lounge (with limited seating) which is wind-protected (by a wraparound glass wall). Two stairways from the Terrace connect directly to Riverside Restaurant (below on deck 2) and to the Alfresco Lounge (above on deck 4).

All public spaces (wellness, dining, lounge, lobby) are with floor-ceiling windows and unobstructed views.

Itineraries

MS VIVA One cruises on the rivers Rhine and Moselle, as well as on Belgium and Dutch waterways, with itineraries 5-6-8-days in length. The ship's principal homeports are Koblenz and Dusseldorf .

The vessel's construction (hull and superstructure, ENI number 07002160) was done at Vahali Shipyard in Zasavica (Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia). The 1923-founded Dutch shipbuilding company (Scheepswerf En Machinefabriek Vahali BV) owns and operates yards in Serbia ( Belgrade , and Zasavica) and in Holland (Gendt). Vahali Shipyard Zasavica was officially opened in 2013.

Following the construction in Serbia, the ships are towed to Holland for final outfitting at Scheepswerf Vahali (Gendt).

VIVA One was officially christened on April 7, 2022, in Dusseldorf (Germany) . The naming ceremony was led by godmother Judith Rakers (1976-born German journalist and TV presenter) and attended by 160+ guests, among whom were Arno Reitsma (Scylla AG's CEO), Andrea Kruse (VIVA Cruises' CEO), and Josef Hinkel (Dusseldorf's Mayor).

Strange Glow Over Moscow Skies Triggers Panic as Explosions Reported

B right flashes lit up the night sky in southern Moscow in the early hours of Thursday morning, new footage appears to show, following reports of an explosion at an electrical substation on the outskirts of the city.

Video snippets circulating on Russian-language Telegram channels show a series of flashes on the horizon of a cloudy night sky, momentarily turning the sky a number of different colors. In a clip shared by Russian outlet MSK1.ru, smoke can be seen rising from a building during the flashes lighting up the scene.

Newsweek was unable to independently verify the details of the video clips, including when and where it was filmed. The Russian Ministry of Emergency situations has been contacted via email.

Several Russian Telegram accounts said early on Thursday that residents of southern Moscow reported an explosion and a fire breaking out at an electrical substation in the Leninsky district, southeast of central Moscow.

Local authorities in the Leninsky district told Russian outlet RBC that the explosion had happened in the village of Molokovo. "All vital facilities are operating as normal," Leninsky district officials told the outlet.

The incident at the substation in Molokovo took place just before 2 a.m. local time, MSK1.ru reported.

Messages published by the ASTRA Telegram account, run by independent Russian journalists, appear to show residents close to the substation panicking as they question the bright flashes in the sky. One local resident describes seeing the bright light before losing access to electricity, with another calling the incident a "nightmare."

More than 10 villages and towns in the southeast of Moscow lost access to electricity, the ASTRA Telegram account also reported. The town of Lytkarino to the southeast of Moscow, lost electricity, wrote the eastern European-based independent outlet, Meduza.

Outages were reported in the southern Domodedovo area of the city, according to another Russian outlet, as well as power failures in western Moscow. Electricity was then restored to the areas, the Strana.ua outlet reported.

The cause of the reported explosion is not known. A Telegram account aggregating news for the Lytkarino area described the incident as "an ordinary accident at a substation."

The MSK1.ru outlet quoted a local resident who speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but no other Russian source reported this as a possible cause.

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Moscow with long-range aerial drones in recent months, including a dramatic wave of strikes in late May.

On Sunday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the region's air defense systems had intercepted an aerial drone over the city of Elektrostal, to the east of Moscow. No damage or casualties were reported, he said.

The previous day, Russian air defenses detected and shot down another drone flying over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow, Sobyanin said.

There is currently no evidence that an aerial drone was responsible for the reported overnight explosion at the electrical substation in southern Moscow.
