Our Functions

Our Swan Yacht Club function rooms cater for every occasion; from 21st birthdays, annual dinners, anniversaries, conferences and wedding ceremonies and receptions. We have a beautiful top floor function room available with seating up to 200 guests and stand-up canape for up to 300 people with views overlooking the Swan River. This room can be divided into two smaller rooms accommodating functions starting from 40 people. *Sorry, no 18th Birthdays

Our upstairs balcony is the perfect space for pre-dinner cocktail platters and drinks before moving inside for a sit down meal. With vast views of the Swan River it is the perfect backdrop for any occasion.

We have fantastic outside areas for entertaining, which includes our new River Deck, balcony, an alfresco area leading out onto our lawn with seating for up to 80 people and stand-up canape for up to 120 people, as well as our main member’s bar. Our boardroom is fully equipped with modern technology to accommodate up to 12 guests for corporate and business meetings of any kind. Being a licensed club, you will find our prices very reasonable.

As we have a fully licensed kitchen, all catering is done in-house. * with the exception of celebratory cakes.

WEDDINGS AT THE CLUB

Book a function, function rooms, main function room.

Located on the first floor which is accessed by both inside and outside staircases and our newly installed lift. The area provides a private space for groups wanting to celebrate their mid-sized to large special events such as weddings, engagements, special birthdays, club events, school balls and graduations, live music events, conferences and seminars. With seating capacity for up to 150ppl with the dancefloor or 200ppl with no dancefloor and standing capacity up to 300ppl the area can accommodate many various function sizes and styles of events.

This room provides access to a large balcony through floor to ceiling bi-fold doors allowing easy flow between the indoors and out. Guests are then able to step out and enjoy the views while enjoying a relax atmosphere with lounge chairs and ample sun cover. With a built-in microphone and sound system there is a seamless transition between the two areas. For the groups wanting an area for dancing and entertainment the room features a large dancefloor that is accompanied by a stage for live music, speeches or bridal tables.

Our West Bar is located on the first floor which is accessed by both inside and outside staircases and our newly installed lift. The area provides a private space for groups wanting to celebrate small to mid-sized special events such as weddings, engagements, special birthdays, club events, school balls and graduations, and live music events . With seating capacity for up to 80ppl and standing capacity up to 150ppl the area can accommodate many various function sizes and styles of events.

The East Bar is located on the first floor which is accessed by both inside and outside staircases and our newly installed lift. The area provides a private space for corporate seminar and meeting style functions as it offers a stage for guest speakers and presenters, projector and screen, microphone and lectern and ample room to set up in various floorplans required of the group; from theatre style to cabaret (open rounds). The seating capacity for this space is ideal between 15ppl up to 50ppl depending on layout. This area also provide a great option for breakout groups, morning tea, afternoon tea and lunch to make use of the covered balcony during the warmer months whereas in the cooler months have access to the West Bar located on the opposite side of the dividing wall.

ALFRESCO AREA

Our alfresco area is located on the main level in our outside area under the balcony. This space is opens out onto our lawn and casual outside dining area’s and is a great space for birthdays, anniversaries, christenings, fundraisers, fishing competitions, family reunions, school reunions, annual Christmas parties and an array of family and friend gathers to celebrate. We also use this area for our Public Open Days, Kids Christmas Party, Melbourne Cup and Wine Tastings. Hiring the alfresco area is a great way to bring members together and feel as though you are part of a community.

This area can be separated into two areas for those group that are between 30ppl-60ppl by using white picket fencing or black velvet roping. For larger groups that do not require the private function room located on our first floor the alfresco can seat up to 80ppl with the ability to host 100ppl standing.

Perth’s first floating River Deck has arrived at the Swan! Installed in 2020, this space can hold up to 80 guests with seating capacity for 60 people and is the closest you’ll get to the water and epic Swan River views. A great space for any occasion with catering and a pop-up bar available for food and beverage options.

Those looking to stay on their usual gym routine during a Walt Disney World vacation are in luck. Many of the Disney World Hotels offer fitness centers. These gyms offer plenty of equipment, cardio machines, and weights for anyone to get a good workout.

Thankfully, most hotel gyms have the same state-of-the-art equipment you probably already use or rely upon. Plus, most gyms are in relaxing environments with plenty of room for stretching out between sets.

Below, we’ve provided a list of the Walt Disney World Resorts with fitness centers. Then, we’ll preview each resort’s gym individually so you’ll know what to expect on your next vacation.

Here is a list of the resorts that have fitness centers at Walt Disney World:

Since we stay at the resorts often, I have visited and worked out at almost every hotel’s gym. Below, I’ve added a few photos of the gyms to give you an idea of what to expect. You’ll want to note that all the Disney World Resort’s fitness centers offer 24-hour access with your room key or MagicBand.

Disney World Resorts That Do Not Have Gyms

Unfortunately, a few Disney Resort Hotels do not offer fitness centers. If you’re staying at a value resort or moderate resort , except Coronado Springs, your hotel will not have a gym. For reference, the following Disney World Hotels do not have fitness centers:

• Disney’s All-Star Resorts (Movies, Music, and Sports)
• Disney’s Pop Century Resort
• Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
• Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
• Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort
• Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside
• Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground

These resorts have jogging trails or places to walk. A jogging trail map is available at most resorts. We have a separate article with photos of the jogging trail maps at the resorts .

Zahanti Fitness Center at Animal Kingdom Lodge

Zahanti Fitness Center is the gym at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. It’s on the resort’s ground level near the Uzima Springs Pool .

Inside, you’ll find plenty of cardio equipment. Many machines are positioned in front of a window overlooking the oasis-like landscaping surrounding the pool area.

Cardio machines include ellipticals, treadmills, exercise bikes, and a stair climber.

Additionally, plenty of weight machines and free weights are available.

Survival of the Fittest Fitness Center at Kidani Village

Kidani Village has its own fitness center. Kidani Village or Jambo House guests are welcome to use either resort’s fitness center. You’ll find the Survival of the Fittest gym near the Samawati Springs Pool .

Survival of the Fittest sits at the top of the pool area near the water slide entrance. It’s a little off the beaten path. You’ll walk out the resort’s front entrance and take the sidewalk to your right to locate it. This gym is significantly smaller than the one at Jambo House. However, it still has enough equipment. But if you prefer a more extensive gym, you can walk or take the shuttle to Jambo House.

Ship Shape Health Club at Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club

Ship Shape Health Club is the fitness center shared between Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club. This gym is on the outdoor walkway that connects the two hotels behind Stormalong Bay.

When I stay at Disney’s Beach Club, I always try to get a workout or two combined with a jog around Crescent Lake . Ship Shape faces Stormalong Bay , the massive pool area shared between the resorts.

This pool area is so spectacular that it ranks in our top spot for the best pools at Walt Disney World . You can get in a good workout, enjoy breakfast, and spend the rest of the day at the pool. Who needs the parks?

Muscles and Bustles at Disney’s Boardwalk

Disney’s Boardwalk Inn has a large workout facility between the Luna Park Pool and the breezeway that leads out to the Boardwalk.

Inside, you’ll find a variety of weight machines.

There’s an excellent selection of free weights.

Here is a photo of some of the other equipment.

Muscles and Bustles has a separate space with various cardio equipment.

La Vida Health Club and Spa at Coronado Springs

Our next stop is the only moderate resort at Walt Disney World that offers a gym, Coronado Springs. Not only does Coronado Springs offer one gym, it has two, making it the only resort with two fitness centers at Disney World.

La Vida Health Club is located in the Casitas, the resort’s convention side. This gym has one ample open space that includes almost anything you can think of for a workout.

Here is the area with free weights.

Plenty of open space is available for aerobics, yoga, floor exercises, and using exercise balls.

Fitness Center at Gran Destino Tower

In addition to La Vida, Coronado Springs has a second fitness center on the second floor of Gran Destino Tower.

It’s not the worst place to work out.

I don’t think anyone can complain about the number of weights available.

Olympiad Fitness Center at Disney’s Contemporary

Olympiad Fitness Center is on the third floor of the central tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. You’ll need to take the elevator to access this gym.

Inside, the gym is divided into several spaces. Below, we see a few weight machines and treadmills.

Here’s floor space with mats, stability balls, and similar workout essentials.

Ellipticals are available.

This gym has a couple of benches and a stand with towels near the entrance.

I also appreciated the mini-fridge with cold towels and filtered water.

Senses at Grand Floridian

Senses is the spa at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. A fitness center is available on the opposite side of the spa. Grand Floridian shares this fitness center with the Polynesian Village Resort.

However, I’m hopeful that Disney will incorporate a fitness center for the Polynesian Resort in their new DVC tower that’s currently being constructed. In the meantime, guests of the Polynesian can monorail to the Grand Floridian to use their gym.

Senses Spa sits directly in front of The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian. It’s on the same side of the resort that adjoins the Polynesian, near the wedding chapel.

This gym is one large room that’s full of equipment.

Outside the gym, a basketball and tennis court is available.

Sturdy Branches Health Club at Wilderness Lodge

Sturdy Branches is the fitness center located at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. You’ll find this gym on the Boulder Ridge side of the resort. Since it’s off the beaten path, you might want to locate it on the map before heading over.

Like most fitness centers at Disney World, Sturdy Branches is sizable.

A large section of free weights sits toward the back of the gym.

You’ll also find plenty of cardio and strength machines.

Health Club at Saratoga Springs

Saratoga Springs, an independent Disney Vacation Club Resort, is home to the Health Club. The Health Club in The Springs area of the resort. This building is located behind the main lobby and at the top of the feature pool area. On my last visit, I stepped in to take a few pictures.

Everyone was out at the pool on this hot afternoon.

This is one of the largest gyms at Disney World. However, Saratoga Springs is a massive resort.

R.E.S.T. Exercise Room at Disney’s Old Key West

Disney’s Old Key West is another Disney Vacation Club Resort. You’ll find the R.E.S.T. exercise room near the front of the resort between the lobby and the pool area.

Athletique Fitness Center at Disney’s Riviera

Our next resort with a fitness center is Disney’s Riviera. Riviera is home to the Athletique Fitness Center.

You’ll find Riviera’s gym on the ground level along the walkway directly behind the Beau Soleil pool. We have an entire article that details the pools at Disney’s Riviera Resort . While this gym is smaller than most, it has an efficient layout with plenty of equipment.

Fitness Centers at Disney’s Swan and Dolphin

Lastly, Disney’s Swan and Dolphin sit in the Epcot Resorts Area . While Marriott owns and operates these resorts, they are still considered part of the Walt Disney World Resorts . Both the Swan and the Dolphin each have a gym. The Swan Health Club is near the resort’s leisure pool on the ground level.

This gym consists of one large room packed with equipment.

Towels, cold towels, mats, and water are all available.

Across the lake, the Dolphin has a gym. It’s in the main building off the hallway leading out to the resort’s feature pool.

This gym is vast and is divided into several rooms.

A separate room with aerobics space and kickboxing workouts is available.

Swan Reserve Fitness Center

The Swan Reserve is the newest addition to Disney’s Swan and Dolphin.

This modern hotel fitness center is located on the resort’s second floor.

We recently stayed at the Swan Reserve and found they (like every other gym) had sufficient equipment and workout space.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the fitness centers at Walt Disney World offer state-of-the-art equipment and plenty of space. They also provide an excellent place to stay active during leisure time.

The best part is that they’re some of the least crowded! So, if you plan a vacation at one of these resorts, consider planning a resort day and make a little time for the gym.

Second act of the Swan 42

Newport, RI (June 11, 2021) – The second act of the Swan 42, as a top ORC competitor, is one of the more intriguing storylines of the 167th edition of the New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta, which starts today with the traditional opening race around Conanicut Island.

The boat was created in 2006 as the New York Yacht Club’s eighth one-design class and as the platform for the biennial Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup, the premiere global competition for Corinthian sailors. After more than a decade of strong one-design competition, and five editions of the Invitational Cup, the class dwindled in the United States.

“The Swan 42 is a great ORC yacht,” says New York Yacht Club Vice Commodore Paul Zabetakis (Jamestown, RI), one of the founders of the class and the lone remaining original owner in the United States. “This is evidenced by the fact that most sold boats went to Europe where they were converted and successfully raced under the ORC handicap rule. On our first few outings, we have done quite well under ORC.”

At the 2021 ORC European Championships, sailed last month in Capri, Italy, the Swan 42 continued its years-long domination, finishing first, second, third and fifth in Class B.

On this side of the Atlantic, where the rule is just gaining traction, Zabetakis and his Impetuous team took ORC division victories in the 2020 Race Week at Newport presented by Rolex and the 166th Annual Regatta, both of which were sailed in early fall of 2020 due to COVID.

Repeating this year is likely to be more of a challenge with five nearly identical Swan 42s in ORC 3, with some having undergone minor medications to improve performance under ORC.

“Having five 42s together in ORC will be an advantage,” said Kurt Kalberer (New York, NY), who will be skippering Lagertha. “It should allow us to test and tweak our boatspeed against each other, and sail as close to our rating as possible.”

And have fun doing it, which, depending on whom you ask, may be more important.

“I just really enjoy sailing on the Swan 42,” says Zabetakis, preparing for his 15th year racing the boat. “It’s a platform that permits me to still sail with friends with whom I’ve sailed on and off for 30 years.

“I can take several of my core Newport team and mingle good sailors who had been regular crew, but because of distance and family obligations are no longer available for regular sailing. We can get together once a year, have fun, sail aggressively and, most years, do quite well.”

Racing in the 167th edition of the Annual Regatta will start with the traditional lap of Conanicut Island on Friday, June 11. That race is scored separately from the weekend series, which features buoy or point-to-point racing for boats racing in one-design classes and under ORC, PHRF and classic-yacht rating formulas.

4 tips for designing the perfect superyacht gym

Dedicate space to your on board gym.

There’s a growing trend for incorporating a love of fitness into the world of luxury yachting, shown most strongly in the development of superyacht gyms. What was once considered a bonus room, the on board gym has become an essential design feature and one that can make or break your chances of chartering out your yacht.

We bring you four tips for designing the best superyacht gym , which starts with dedicating a space to working out.

Personal preference will dictate where is best to place your gym, but what’s most important is you find a dedicated space for this. You could simply section out part of the beach club, give the gym its own room on one of the decks or even choose an area outside to exercise in. The gym on Lady Britt  makes the best of both worlds with a bright, spacious design and wide views of the sea.

Layout is everything

The layout of your superyacht gym is everything – it’s important for safety and stability, it ensures comfort and it boosts your enjoyment of exercising on board.

If you opt for an indoor gym on your luxury yacht, it’s important to consider the overhead height available, especially when incorporating cardio machines. If you’re choosing an outdoor gym, like the one on Turquoise  above, you need to consider where the equipment will be stowed when underway. But regardless of whether you have an indoor or outdoor superyacht gym, it's important to be aware that larger pieces must be properly affixed to the floor, and smaller items such as free weights should be housed in custom storage, which will affect the layout of your gym.

You must also be careful to not fill the entire space with equipment; make sure you have adequate floor space for yoga and stretching exercises, as this widens the appeal of the superyacht gym and makes it more useful for everyone on board.

Other layout limitations to consider include access (should this be a private owner’s gym or do you want everyone, counting crew, to use it?), the types of exercise you want to do and the equipment you need. Which brings us to the next point…

Buy the best equipment

Selecting the best exercise equipment for your on board gym is nearly as important as designing the right workout space. The choice, range and positioning of the equipment must not only cater to the space available, but also to the health requirements of the owner and guests. You want to end up with a well equipped gym, like the one on Just J's pictured above.

The best advice is to go for a variety of cardio, such as a rower, jogger or spin bike and a crosstrainer, as well as a good selection of free weights, especially the lighter weights.

Durability and ease of maintenance are additional considerations for superyacht gym equipment, given the nature of the space and hygienic needs. And don’t forget the basic equipment needs: towels, a refrigerator and cold water are the finishing elements to round out your well-designed on-board workout space.

Create the right environment

Establishing a positive environment that lends itself to exercising is key to designing a good superyacht gym. You can do this by avoiding harsh downlighting, ensuring adequate ventilation and air conditioning and positioning the equipment so that the transition between exercises is easy and seamless.

Exceptional audio-visual is another key component to an on board gym – especially one that might not otherwise offer an unobstructed sea view. Ensure that the TVs are easily visible from all areas of the space and that they are wall-mounted versus built-in, as the latter are difficult to maintain while at sea. ClubSwan Yachts is the high-performance division of Nautor Swan, offering a conceptual vision with the accent firmly upon the values of speed, technology and competitive sailing potential. Innovative solutions focused upon maximising these qualities are at the heart of ClubSwan Yacht development. The designer is Juan Kouyoumdijan, the French-Argentinean naval architect specialised in ocean racing yachts.

Born from the passion that Leonardo Ferragamo has for the marine world, the Swan Shadow is broadening the range of vassels the Finnish yard offers to its customers, perfectly aligned with the core elements of it brand DNA: Performance, Quality, Elegance. The three models are marking the completion of the Nautor Swan portfolio and product line up with three multipurpose motor yacht concepts able to meet Nautor’s customer needs.
