Oceanfast Increases Share of Luxury Motor Yacht Market

Austal subsidiary, Oceanfast has added another vessel to their order book with the signing of a contract for a 58 metre luxury motor yacht.

Demonstrating confidence in, and demand for, Oceanfast’s world-class product, this contract is a direct result of the new client’s tremendous impression of the 57 metre “Sagitta”, successfully delivered by Oceanfast in July last year.

Austal’s Managing Director, Mr Bob McKinnon said the order demonstrates Oceanfast is quickly securing a greater percentage of the market share for luxury motor yachts.

“This new contract increases Oceanfast’s order book to five luxury yachts and takes the total value of Oceanfast vessels on order to AUD$250 million,” Mr McKinnon said.

“These five vessels represent around 4% of the world market for yachts over 40 metres in length so there is huge potential for growth in this division of our business.”

Designed by Oceanfast’s in-house design team and due for delivery in 2004, the 58 metre luxury motor yacht will feature entire aluminium construction and will be used for international cruising.

The new vessel will join four others currently under construction including the 69.5 metre Expedition Yacht, Aussie Rules for golfer, Greg Norman, which is progressing well towards launch and delivery.

Since acquiring Oceanfast in 1999, Austal has transformed the company and now has in place a solid management team, under Brad Draper, a stable workforce of around 500, substantial productivity improvement practices and world benchmark quality workmanship. As a result, Oceanfast is now a major player in the international super yacht market.

“Austal’s objectives are to become a ‘blue chip’ company in the long-term future and we are taking the necessary steps to ensure we have a wide product base in all sectors of our business,” Mr McKinnon said.

“Contracts such as this ensures Oceanfast will become a major contributor to company revenue and an important source of sustainable shareholder value for Austal."

Oceanfast’s progression in the luxury motor yacht sector, coupled with Austal’s success with the US military and the anticipated increase in market share for large ferry orders presents many exiting opportunities for the group.

As you board, either the port or starboard entrance, you are welcomed into the foyer through sliding glass doors into the main salon. The large main salon offers comfortable seating, a game table, and beautiful white carpeting. Aft of the main salon, there is an open entertaining area featuring a new full-service bar with white light-up onyx (starboard) with 3 barstools and 2 circular seating areas for casual dining for up to 12 guests. Floors are varnished teak and holly and there’s a new large TV port side. This area is also known as the breakfast room.

There are exit doors both port and starboard that lead to outside seating port aft. Here is where you access to the engine room through the watertight door and there is also access to the lower bathing platform which is covered with teak.

Once back inside and moving forward from the main salon, there are two identical guest bathrooms that mirror each other center, a media room that can convert to a 6th stateroom starboard and formal dining for 12 guests with direct access from the galley port.

The owner’s study and media room feature a comfortable couch that also doubles as a queen bed. The coffee table conveniently spits into two and can double as side tables when used as a stateroom. There is a new Samsung TV that is great to watch sports or a gaming area for children. There is a dresser for storage and a separate head, shower and closet for guests’ clothes or storage.

The Formal Dining area sits 12 guests comfortably for dining with easy access from the galley. There is a buffet stand for beverage and/or food staging when not enjoying formal dining. The room can be closed off for privacy and the view thru the large windows offers a nice touch while dining. Aft of the galley is a stewardess prep area for serving directly into the formal dining area.

Moving forward from the main solon is the commercial stainless-steel galley that offers great space for the finest chefs. The crew mess is situated adjacent the galley (starboard) and offers a u-shaped settee. There is a surveillance system for monitoring in this area. Moving forward, is a walk-in laundry room with dual washer/dryer.

Bridge Deck / Upper Deck

From the main salon, there is a spiral staircase that leads you to the bridge deck. From the top of the stairs, you can exit the yacht, starboard, or enter the owner’s suite aft. Like the main deck, you will enjoy plenty of natural light from the large, stylish windows. To your right is the entrance to “His” closet, shower, and head. Continuing aft from the starboard side you enter the spacious master suite with new white carpet and a king size bed that faces aft. When not enjoying the natural sunlight, there are black out shades for the windows. You will find the entrance to the large “Hers” bathroom, which is complete with a large jacuzzi tub, vanity and walk in closet with great space.

There is a private door from the master suite that exits from the starboard side out to the aft deck and the wide workaround decks. You will find a custom teak dining table with comfortable seating for 10 guests under the covered deck area.

Forward of the Owner’s Stateroom you will find the Captain’s office and bridge. Captain’s cabin is aft of the pilothouse on the port side. For easy access outside from the bridge, you will find sliding glass doors both port and starboard, accessing the side decks and wing stations

On the starboard side of the bridge, you will find a stairway down to the galley and crew mess. Tender storage is located both port and starboard and the launching crane is aft.

There are two staircases leading up to the Sundeck from the bridge deck aft. This is a great area for sunning, entertaining or enjoying the 10 person Jacuzzi. There is a small bar, with refrigerator, and a guest head with shower. A new sound system has been installed with speaker lights which add to an amazing ambiance. Moving forward you will find a circular seating area that allows great views while underway. Aft on the sundeck features a great seating area and 4 teak sun loungers.

From the main salon, you walk down the beautiful spiral staircase with updated silver hand railing where you will find 4 guest staterooms, all en-suite. The staterooms are timeless with styling in a light in color design, lacquered furniture, mirrored wardrobes and televisions in each room.

The two forward cabins have king beds and Jacuzzi tubs with shower in the bathroom (The blue and pink staterooms).

Aft you will find 2 staterooms that mirror each other, both with a queen bed and a single bed that is adjacent. These rooms sleep up to 3 guests in each room (The gold and purple staterooms). The ensuite bathrooms have a shower, no tub.

Crew Quarters

Forward of the guest staterooms, you will find 4 crew cabins accommodating 9 crew, located on the lower deck forward (all refurbished in 2010) and a separate Captain's Cabin is located aft of the wheelhouse on the bridge deck.

50m Oceanfast High Occupancy joins the market

The 49.9-metre Oceanfast High Occupancy has joined the market with Henry Schonthal at Reel Deal Yachts. 

Custom-built by Australian shipyard Oceanfast to a design by Jon Bannenberg and Phil Curran, the 1988-built yacht has been refitted consistently throughout her life, most recently with new hull paint and interior furnishings in 2020 and fresh ceramic coating and new audio visual and electric equipment in 2023. 

High Occupancy has a six-cabin layout with a convertible media room attached to an en suite. The owner's suite has a prime position on the main deck and benefits from his and hers bathrooms and a private entrance onto the main deck. With 499 GT to play with, her designers have opted for a light and bright interior with floor-to-ceiling windows throughout and plenty of convenient seating and dining options for guests to choose from.

Aesthetics aside, the motor yacht is also high performance, with triple MTUs and Kamewa water-jets propelling her to top speeds of 30 knots and cruising speeds of 22 knots. She also a shallow 1.6-metre draft that makes her well-suited to shoal water regions.

Ultimate Luxury Yacht: Thunder 164′ Oceanfast

Thunder 164 feet is an ultimate luxury yacht built by Oceanfast shipyards. Her official launch dates back to over a decade ago. However, in 2016 the model underwent an extensive rebuild, which focused on the interior walls, ceilings, entire floors, and furniture.

These changes paved the way for introducing Italian flair by one and only Cavali at Lusben Shipyard in Viareggio, Italy. Some of his new interior fittings include Visionaire furniture and furnishings. In addition, the refits complimented the design work of Jon Bannenberg and naval architect Mark Ellis Marine. Both were the designers behind this magnificent superyacht and why Thunder still stands out in the yacht market. 

The Decks Design and Layout of Thunder 164′

The main deck features spacious indoors and outdoors spaces. For example, from behind, there is a dual staircase leading guests from the swim deck to the indoor/outdoor dining salon. It has glass doors that offer excellent panorama views. The place converts to an outdoor area by sliding the glass doors, making it perfect for alfresco dining with a visionary table and ten seats.

As you move from the outdoor dining salon, you enter a foyer that leads to the main salon. In between the hallway, it features glass doors that provide privacy to the rooms. The salon is intimate; it includes a few private areas with high ceilings and tall windows. Also, there is a formal living room with elegant spaces to entertain guests. It’s fully furnished with luxurious Visionaire furniture and furnishing. 

On accommodation, the luxury yacht has a master suite on the main deck. It’s spacious and has a comfortable lounge area, exquisite Visionaire designs, furnishings, king-size bed, double wardrobes, and remote-controlled lighting. Other features include two master bathrooms, but the main one comes with a tub, shower, and water closet, while the other is fitted with a steam shower.

Besides the master suite, the ultimate yacht comes with a VIP, guests, and forward staterooms. All the staterooms have an ensuite bathroom, Visionaire styling, and 32-inch LG TV, among other features.   

Thunder is a yacht designed explicitly for the yachters who love outdoor living and entertainment. That is why its deck spaces and flybridge include a deck swimming pool, measuring seven meters with a separate area for the jacuzzi. Also, it has some open spaces surrounded by sunpads, side-by-side settees with dining tables, and retractable umbrellas. Not forgetting, the pool doubles up as a tender garage and the flybridge offers sunning pads at the upper deck.

Power Behind Thunder 164′

This ultimate luxury yacht runs on two MTU 396 series V16 TE 94 engines. Each of the engines produces a total output of 2,950 hp and offers 320 hours. In addition, the yacht uses KAMEWA jets for propulsion and reintjes the VLJ930 gearbox.  

The engine output is outstanding and can power Thunder to long-distance cruises with ease. Again, it is among the fastest superyachts in its division and delivers an incredible maximum speed of 25 knots, while normal cruise speed ranges from 17 knots.

Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly gifted himself a $300 million megayacht, dubbed “Launchpad,” ahead of his 40th birthday.

The staggering 387-foot-long vessel was seen floating at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., after arriving at its berth earlier this week, The Sun reported Thursday.

The multi-layered luxury ship’s sleek exterior was designed by Espen Øino International and boasts a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, according to SuperYacht Times.

Reportedly ranking as the 45th largest yacht in the world, the interiors are just as aesthetically pleasing and reportedly executed by Zuretti Interior Design company, a France-based company specializing in unique and custom yacht design.

The breathtakingly beautiful floater stands out with a navy blue theme matching an American flag perched proudly on its wood-paneled stern.

There are several outdoor areas where the social media maven will be able to relax with his family and the indoor levels feature glass paneling allowing for tons of natural light.

There also appears to be a helipad perfect for whenever the Facebook co-founder wants to travel to his vessel by air.

The Feadship-built yacht, built in 2022, can comfortably fit 24 guests aboard, requires a crew of 48, and is said to cost $30 million a year for upkeep and usage, according to Superyachtfan.com .

Boatworld insiders have been buzzing with speculation that Zuckerberg is the owner of the newly minted mega-cruise ever since it made its main voyage from the Netherlands last week.

The tech titan was spotted touring the Russian-commissioned megayacht in early March, though the impressive boat didn’t arrive stateside until this week due to sanctions, according to The Sun.

The website reported that Zuckerberg purchased the pricey yacht – along with its own $30 million partner boat — most likely as an early 40th birthday present to himself.

The boat reportedly traveled to Florida after being granted special permission to be imported just weeks ahead of Zuckerberg’s birthday on May 14.

Zuckerberg’s yacht is just 30 feet shorter than the length of fellow billionaire Jeff Bezos’ 417-foot megayacht Koru, which the Amazon boss snagged for a whopping $500 million.

Zuckerberg’s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
