Cincinnati Historic Sightseeing Cruise

The Queen City, as Cincinnati is known (as well as ‘The Athens of the West’), was first settled in 1788 and the city’s skyline is best viewed from the Ohio River. Easter is Sunday, March 31, this year, which means egg hunts, Easter Bunny sightings , fancy outfits and family get-togethers are around the corner.

If your Easter Sunday consists of gathering with friends and family for a sit-down brunch, we've got you covered. Several Greater Cincinnati restaurants are offering prix fixe menus, specials and festive events this year.

Nicola's Ristorante

Celebrate Easter at Nicola's Ristorante in Over-the-Rhine with a specially curated pick-two menu for just $55. Both brunch and dinner options are available. Brunch favorites and new offerings, such as braised pork belly and cannelloni, will be featured. Signature cocktails will also be available.

Eighteen at the Radisson

The Eighteen at the Raddison will offer a sprawling Easter buffet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 31. Limited reservations are available.

Easter Sunday brunch at Forno Osteria + Bar returns this year from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Breakfast staples, including house-made pancakes and biscuits and gravy, will be offered, as well as Italian dishes, such as penne alla bolognese and Italian frittata parmigiano with leeks and tomato.

BB Riverboats will hold its annual Easter cruise March 31 from 1-3 p.m. and 5:30-7:30 p.m. Guests can choose between a brunch buffet or a traditional Easter dinner. The trip also boasts scenic views and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Adult tickets are $56. Children ages 4-12 cost $34.

You can choose from a wide menu, including omelet, carving, dessert and seafood stations. Mimosas and bloody marys will also be available. The cost is $74 per person and $19 for kids ages 10 and under.

The Easter buffet at Via Vite includes a mix of breakfast offerings and classic Italian dishes, such as scrambled eggs, French toast with berries compote, handmade crispy gnocchi, and Italian sausage and bean ragout. The restaurant will also have a carving station with roasted strip steak, smoked salmon and desserts. The price is $40 for guests over 12.

Butcher and Barrel

Butcher and Barrel's Easter brunch is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature items that include Argentine-style French toast, filet mignon and short rib gnocchi.

Easter brunch is back at Basil 1791 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The menu includes pineapple-glazed ham, creme brulee French toast, hash browns potato casserole, bon bon chicken, General Tso's chicken, house fried rice and more. Jeff Ruby's event venue will host an Easter brunch buffet this year. The buffet will feature interactive chef stations with made-to-order omelets, bananas foster French toast, hand-carved USDA prime black angus strip loin, fresh pasta, sushi and more. Prices are $120 per adult and $60 per child.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio residents face two unique scenarios in this year’s congressional primaries: They’re being asked to cast two votes for one of the seats and choose one of 11 candidates for the other.

The Democratic primaries, while competitive, promise to be less nail-biting than the GOP contests, which feature a congested race into which nearly a dozen contenders have poured a combined $4.5 million.

Both districts, the 2nd and the 6th, lean conservative and are likely to go for Republican candidates in the fall.

The 6th District includes the village of East Palestine, which is still suffering from the effects of a toxic train derailment last year.

Eleven Republicans will have their names on the primary ballot for the 2nd Congressional District, which extends from the eastern suburbs of Cincinnati to the West Virginia border. The winner will face Democrat Samantha Meadows in the November general election.

Two of the better-known candidates are state Sens. Shane Wilkin and Niraj Antani. Political newcomers include businessmen Dave Taylor and Larry Kidd, as well as retired U.S. Marine drill instructor Tim O’Hara. Taylor raised $1.7 million for his campaign and Larry Kidd raised $1.4 million, while O’Hara raised $1.3 million.

All five are supporters of former Republican President Donald Trump and are running on conservative platforms such as supporting gun rights and opposing abortion.

Breaking from the pack is Phil Heimlich. Heimlich, son of the doctor who invented the Heimlich Maneuver, is a moderate Republican who does not support Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee in this year’s presidential election.

Constituents in the 6th Congressional District are being asked to vote not once, but twice, for a nominee to replace former U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson.

The first vote involves a June special election that will determine who fills out the rest of Johnson’s current term; the second is for the November general election that will determine who serves a full term in the district starting in January 2025. Voters may choose the same nominee for both elections.

Johnson, a Republican, resigned before his term ended to become president of Youngstown State University on Jan. 21, prompting Gov. Mike DeWine to schedule the summer special election.

In the heart of the district, which runs along the Ohio River in eastern Ohio, is East Palestine, which recently observed the one-year anniversary of a devastating toxic train derailment.

Republican Rick Tsai, a chiropractor from East Palestine, is running on the derailment issue. But he’s in a tough fight against two current lawmakers, state Rep. Reggie Stoltzfus and state Sen. Michael Rulli, both of whom are better funded and have secured key endorsements, including those from East Palestine officials.

The Democratic candidates running in the Republican-leaning district include Rylan Finzer, a small-business owner from Stark County, and Michael Kripchak, an Air Force veteran and restaurant worker from Youngstown.
