Victoria sports grand Victorian buildings as well as a thriving art community, a busting Chinatown focused on FanTan Alley and famous chocolatiers and great shopping.  The city has many fantastic restaurants featuring everything from fine Asian cuisine to excellent French bistro’s and, of course an abundance of great British Pubs. Close to the city are spectacular parks and other ‘off the beat’ unknown attractions only your private guide knows.

Adventure 1:  Luxury City Tour and Butchart Gardens

Private tour in a luxury coach around the historic city of Victoria, see the houseboats at Fisherman’s Wharf, the Inner Harbour, Parliament Buildings and the legendary Empress Hotel. Then tour through Canada’s oldest Chinatown, pass by James Bay heritage community and pass by the home of famous artist Emily Carr. Then through Beacon Hill Park – which houses the world’s tallest totem, and then off to the Lieutenant Governor’s Mansion.  After that view Craigdarroch Castle and then take a scenic drive to the famous Butchart Gardens – over 100 years old, and transformed from an old lime quarry into a little piece of heaven. This tour is great for the traveler who would like to see the highlights in a limited time. This tour is fully narrated with historic facts and ghost stories too !! Lots of stops for photos.

Adventure 2 Hour luxury City Tour

View Fisherman’s Wharf house boat community, the Inner Harbour which includes the Parliament Buildings, the legendary Empress Hotel, the historic shopping district and the oldest Chinatown in Canada.  The tour through Beacon Hill Park and pass by the world’s largest totem on your way to the Lieutenant Governor’s Mansion. From there stop by Craigdarroch Castle, then see stunning views of the city and the coast.  After driving through Upland Estates you return to Victoria having enjoyed a fully narrated tour complete with ghost stories – and plenty of stops for photos!

Adventure 3: Luxury Wine Tour

Cowichan Valley Wine Tour

We will start out at 10:00 am, and driver over the beautiful scenic Malahat drive. We will stop briefly for photos and make our way to our first vineyard. We will visit a 3 Vineyards. (The vineyard locations will depend on who is open for tastings for the date booked). Each stop may take up to 1 Hour depending on the size of the group and allow for wait times. Lunch is recommended at Unsworth Bistro, or Merridale Cidery Bistro. From there we will enjoy a scenic country drive to our last vineyard and finally make our way back to Victoria.

Saanich Wine Tour

We Depart Victoria at 10:30 am and head out to the scenic Saanich Peninsula. I recommend our first stop at Sea Cider and experience some of Vancouver Islands best Ciders, and incredible views. We will then make our way to Church and State Winery for tastings and lunch. They offer some of Vancouver Islands best wines. After that we will make our way to De Vine to experience their Spirits and or Wine, and amazing views.

Adventure 4: Tour of waterfalls, Cathedral Grove Rain Forest and Coombs Country Market

This is a full action packed day of outdoor adventure at its best. You will get to enjoy a scenic drive up island past Nanaimo to the Coombs area where we will experience some of Vancouver Islands best scenery. First we will visit the Englishman River Falls, we will take a short hike up and down the falls to capture some exciting photos. After that we will visit the country Village of Coombs which is famous for the Coombs country market with the goats on the roof. We will most likely enjoy a nice lunch at this spot and from there we will proceed to the Little Qualicum Falls to explore the upper and lower falls. We will then make our way to Cathedral Grove, an enchanting rain forest with some of the oldest trees on the island dating back over 500 years old. From there we will make our way back to Victoria.

Adventure 5: Christmas Lights and Gardens Tour

Time: 4.5 Hours Add this to your cruise – BOOK NOW!

Experience a magical night out viewing some of the top Christmas light displays around Victoria as we make our way to the gardens. The Butchart Gardens create a 12 days of Christmas theme around the estate with a magical light display. There is an outdoor skating rink set up as well so, skate rentals on site for your full winter wonderland experience. Enjoy your choice of a daytime or night time setting of the Butchart Gardens, or time it right and experience both.

We will start out by grabbing a hot Timmy’s hot chocolate for each passenger as we make our way to some of Victoria’s best light displays, both downtown and in the residential neighbourhoods. We then then make our way to the Butchart Gardens where you will be dazzled by the winter wonderland they have to offer.

Adventure 6 Historic Victoria

Time: 8.5 Hours Add this to your cruise – BOOK NOW!

Perfect for history lovers! We will start out by stopping by the historical Hatley Castle. Which was built by James Dunsmuir in 1908, who commissioned Samuel Maclure, a Victorian architect to design the Castle. It is now the administrative centre for the Royal Roads University. From there we will journey through Goldstream Park, home to some 400 yr old cedar trees.

After we will enjoy a scenic journey over the beautiful Malahat Drive as we make our way to the Historical Kinsol Trestle.The Kinsol Trestle is one of the highest wooden trestle’s in the world. It was completed in 1920, and just recently restored for our viewing pleasure. This is a very easy 20 minute hike from the parking lot. After we explore the trestle we will enjoy a beautiful scenic drive through Cobble Hill to have lunch. After lunch we will enjoy a scenic drive to Chemainus, the historical seaside community with murals. From there we will have about a 1 hours drive back to Victoria.

Adventure 7 Maritime and National Defence Tour

Time: 4 Hours Add this to your cruise – BOOK NOW!

Enjoy a day out taking in some beautiful historical sites as we go visit the Hatley Castle , now a National Historic site on the grounds of the Royal Roads University. The Hatley Castle was built in 1908 by James Dunsmuir for his personal resident, later to be sold and used as a Naval officer training establishment in 1940. After we will go visit Fort Rodd another National Historic site, Fort Rodd is a 19th century coastal artillery fort, as well as home to the Fisgard Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in western Canada, built in 1860. From there we go have lunch on the water at Canada’s oldest brew pub Spinnakers, known for their great beer and home made chocolate. (location may be altered to customers requests). From there we will go visit CFB Esquimalt, Canada’s west coast navy base. We will stop to over look the ships as we make our way to visit the Naval and Military museum. If time permits we can stop by to hike around Macaulay Point, a historical site for the National defence.

Adventure 8: Vancouver Island Sooke to Port Renfrew

Discover the beautiful scenery from Sooke to Port Renfrew on this scenic tour of Vancouver Islands southwest coast. This tour is for the real outdoor adventure seekers. This is an action packed adventure customized to the guests requests and level of adventure. You may choose to sit back in luxury and enjoy a nice scenic drive of Vancouver Islands back country and scenic coastal views, or you may choose to have the option of getting out to explore some of our gorgeous sandy beaches, rocky coastlines, and old growth forests that are home to some of the world’s oldest and largest trees.On this tour we will see Sooke, French Beach, Jordan River, China Beach, Botanical Beach, Port Renfrew, and possibly Avatar Grove. Either way you will be going home happy that you took this tour, and I am sure you will fill your camera with amazing photos to share with your family and friends.

Excellent cuisine is certainly one of the highlights of the Victoria Majestic. A team of six world-class chefs is constantly developing new, inspiring and unique dining options for the cruise line. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served á la carte in the main restaurant and the buffet restaurant. For an additional fee, you can enjoy culinary delights in the special restaurant called the Marcello & Fabrizio fine dining restaurant, as well as the Trattoria Omero restaurant.

Victoria Cruises Line was founded in 2002 and is 100 percent privately owned. The operational management is led by shipping and hotel experts with many years of professional experience. Our history spans only 20 years, but during this time, we have acquired the experience to ensure the professional operation of our company. Victoria Harbour – Night Cruise showcasing one of the World’s Top Three Nightscapes

Most of us are familiar with the stunning night view of Victoria Harbour and the renowned “A Symphony of Lights” show, usually enjoyed from the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront. However, I want to introduce you to a different and extraordinary experience of Victoria Harbour, offering an alternative way to admire the “world’s top three night views.”

Last Sunday, our group of 25 people chartered a medium-sized yacht for a leisurely cruise along Victoria Harbour, accompanied by the mesmerizing “A Symphony of Lights” show. It was my first time exploring Victoria Harbour by boat, and the experience was truly enchanting. Viewing the harbor’s night scenery from the middle of the sea was simply captivating. To add to the excitement, we later indulged in a sumptuous seafood feast at Lei Yue Mun.

Here’s a breakdown of our evening itinerary:

Meeting at Tsim Sha Tsui Pier → Star Walk, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Hong Kong Museum of Art → Lei Yue Mun (Disembark for dinner) → Disperse at Tsim Sha Tsui Pier

We gathered at Tsim Sha Tsui Pier at 7:20 pm and officially set sail at 7:30 pm. Cruising along the Star Walk, we passed by iconic landmarks such as the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and the Hong Kong Museum of Art. The weather was pleasantly cool that day, and the gentle sea breeze along the expansive coastline made the experience even more delightful.

At precisely 8:00 pm, the “A Symphony of Lights” show began. Watching it from the boat was undoubtedly the best vantage point, surpassing the view from the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront near the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. The buildings on both sides of the harbor illuminated with a kaleidoscope of colorful lights and laser beams, illuminating the entire Victoria Harbour. The lights continuously danced and changed, bringing vibrancy to the harbor. As the speed of the light show increased, all the buildings lit up simultaneously, creating the most dazzling and radiant moment. We quickly grabbed our phones to capture the final scene of “A Symphony of Lights.”

Apart from “A Symphony of Lights,” some people choose to venture out on special occasions such as National Day, New Year’s Eve countdown, and Lunar New Year to witness the famous fireworks display over Victoria Harbour.

After the conclusion of “A Symphony of Lights,” the captain navigated the boat towards Lei Yue Mun. Yes, we arrived at Lei Yue Mun for a seafood feast. After a short walk from the pier, we reached Lei Yue Mun Seafood Restaurant. We ordered a variety of seafood dishes, and my personal favorites were the salt and pepper mantis shrimp, garlic butter lobster, and garlic steamed scallops with vermicelli. They were incredibly flavorful and fresh! The captain often recommends interesting routes and itineraries. So, if you’re ever unsure about your next destination, don’t hesitate to ask the captain for suggestions. You might be pleasantly surprised! (Actually, the idea of dining at Lei Yue Mun was suggested by the captain, and it turned out to be a fantastic recommendation!)

After enjoying this delightful seafood meal, we headed back to the boat to return to Tsim Sha Tsui Pier. We arrived around 10:00 pm and dispersed.

Carnival Freedom cruise ship catches fire for second time in less than 2 years

T he Carnival Freedom cruise ship experienced its second fire in less than two years, and passenger footage caught the flames with smoke coming from the ship's exhaust funnel Saturday afternoon. 

"That's nutty," X user @breezebreeze_ can be heard while showing the fire aboard the ship.

Carnival Cruise Line put out several tweet replies regarding the incident they say happened at 3:15 ET. 

"Carnival Freedom reported a fire on the port side of the ship’s exhaust funnel," one of the posts read. "The ship was 20 miles off Eleuthera Island, Bahamas, heading to Freeport after a canceled call to Princess Cay due to weather."

The news prompted passengers of the ship's upcoming departure from Port Canaveral on Monday to ask the cruise line if their itinerary would go off as planned.

"Is the cruise for the Carnival Freedom March 25 departing cruise from Port Canaveral still planning on going?" one X user asked Carnival. "We need to know for travel purposes!"

"I can almost guarantee it'll be canceled," another X user wrote about the ship's next planned cruise. "This isn't the first time this has happened ironically to this ship, and the following sailing when it happened that time were canceled, but obviously not confirm[ed]."

Carnival quickly responded to quell any rumors, saying it does not expect any impact on the next Carnival Freedom voyage.

The Freedom's exhaust funnel caught fire in May 2022 while the ship was docked at Grand Turk Island in Turks and Caicos. Video from then also showed the ship’s funnel – referred to by some as the whale tail – consumed by flames and smoke. 

The part of the ship that caught fire is designed to help direct the flow of exhaust gases away from the ship, according to the Crown Cruise Vacations website.

"The ship’s fire response team was quickly activated, and the ship’s captain also turned the vessel towards the heavy rain in the area to maximize the efforts to put out the flames," Carnival said about Saturday's fire. "Eyewitnesses reported the possibility of a lightning strike and that is being investigated."

Carnival said the captain made "multiple announcements to guests and crew" about the fire. The port side of the funnel fell onto Deck 10, Carnival said. No injuries were reported.

The Carnival Freedom was in Freeport as scheduled Sunday, according to CruiseMapper. Carnival said there are no operational issues with the ship’s systems.

Carnival freedom catches fire near bahamas; 2 future cruises from port canaveral canceled, march 25 and 29 freedom cruises have been canceled.

A fire broke out in the exhaust funnel of the Carnival Freedom cruise ship near the Bahamas on Saturday, according to a news release.

Officials said the fire was quickly extinguished, but the damage is worse than originally anticipated. As a result, the cruise line announced the March 25 and 29 Freedom cruises from Port Canaveral have been canceled.

According to the release, witnesses reported seeing a lightning strike, but the the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

“The funnel has been stabilized for the ship’s return to Port Canaveral overnight to disembark guests, and then it will go to the Freeport shipyard on Monday afternoon to begin the required repairs,” the release read in part. “We sincerely regret the impact to our embarking guests, as we know they have been looking forward to their spring break vacation. We are providing all guests on both cancelled cruises a full refund and a 100% future cruise credit so they can come back and enjoy a future cruise with us.”

This is the second time in the past two years that a fire broke out on the Freedom. In May of 2022, the ship was docked in Grand Turk when flames erupted from the exhaust funnel.

Concert promoter Live Nation is getting into the ultra-luxury cruise business — see what it'll be like on weeklong superyacht sailings starting at $3,000 a person

• Live Nation's Vibee is getting into the ultra-luxury cruise business.
• The music event curator says it'll charter two superyachts for three weeklong Croatia cruises this summer.
• Like other vacation operators, Vibee says it's seen increasing demand for cruise and yacht-based trips.

Forget concerts — Live Nation wants music fans to start going on yacht vacations .

In 2023 and amid a boom in experiential travel , the entertainment company established Vibee, a music-based event curation arm. Less than a year later, Vibee has already executed affairs like a weekend Bahamas getaway headlined by singer Lionel Richie and a three-day Cabo San Lucas, Mexico party featuring DJ Tiësto.

Now, it's moving off-land and to the high seas with its new segment: Vibee Yacht Club.

This summer, Vibee says it'll charter two superyachts for three weeklong Croatia itineraries that are set to be, of course, centered on music.

Vibee is capitalizing on yet another increasingly popular concept: themed cruises.

Themed cruises can vary vastly, from Star Trek-centered sailings to itineraries helmed by famous comedians. And as of late, many of these niche voyages have been selling out faster than ever before.

Themed cruise operator Sixthman's November 2023 hip-hop itinerary sold out in less than five days with no publicly announced lineup.

Similarly, Vibee's first cruise, the 2023 EDSea — a wordplay on the electronic dance music festival Electric Daisy Carnival, or EDC — was fully booked in three days, again with an undisclosed lineup.

Armed with EDSea’s success, Vibee wants to dive deeper into the cruise segment — this time with a luxurious spin.

"We see the desire for cruise and yacht experiences continuing to rise," Harvey Cohen, president of Vibee, told Business Insider, echoing sentiments of the cruise industry's booming demand.

And not just the mass-market players: Over the last year, luxury cruise lines have also seen a rise in interest.

In its fourth-quarter earnings report from February 2024, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings said its two high-end brands, Oceania and Regent Seven Seas, had both seen "strong demand."

The latter had launched its latest $517.9 million luxury ship a few months prior, complete with caviar and a $6 million art collection.

Luxury cruises and superyachts aren’t known to be super-affordable.

Vibee says it's chartering the 141-foot-long Lupus Mare and nearly 161-foot-long Prestige for its three yacht sailings.

Vibee Yacht Club's cheapest option starts at $3,100 per person for a two-person cabin. Comparatively, EDSea's 2024 itinerary starts at $1,405 per person for a double occupancy interior cabin.

Yet, it could be a bargain for some superyacht fans: Weeklong charters for Lupus Mare start at about $71,000 a week, according to YachtCharterFleet.

Everything is better on a yacht. Champagne? Tastes better on a yacht. Cruises in general? Better on a yacht.

Going to an international music festival? Well, Vibee thinks it would be better to stay on a yacht than in a hotel.

On July 13, the first itinerary would start on day two of Ultra Europe, a popular three-day electronic dance music festival in Split, Croatia.

Following the event, the two yachts would sail to three Croatian islands before concluding in Hvar, Croatia. Along the way, the itinerary would include daytime swims, a sunset winery visit, and several parties (day and night).

Unsurprisingly, Vibee expects the itinerary to draw in younger travelers, specifically Gen Zers and millennials.

Lupus Mare is set to be chartered for two more itineraries: “Rock the Med” and “Marafiki on the Adriatic.”

A three-person cabin for both starts at $3,500 per person.

On Rock the Med, the week is set to begin with VIP tickets to a Lenny Kravitz show at the historic Pula Arena.

Afterward, it would sail to Croatian destinations with an itinerary that would include beach excursions and clubs.

Marafiki on the Adriatic isn’t centered on a single music event.

Instead, the roundtrip Split itinerary would feature on-board musical performances, daily yoga, "cultural outings," and, of course, beach clubs.

A bonus trip to Sonus Festival, a five-day rave, is an optional add-on.

Like a typical luxury cruise, travelers would have preorganized water taxis, chefs to prepare daily breakfasts and lunches, and all the yacht amenities.

The 20-cabin, 40-guest Prestige flexes indulgences like an indoor lounge, a hot tub, and a sundeck with plenty of beds.

Meanwhile, the 15-cabin, 34-guest Lupus Mare has comforts like a sauna and gym.

Travelers could wind down in the yacht's movie theater or hot tub. Or, they could take a slide into the water.

It’s no surprise Vibee is going the more sumptuous route with its itinerary-focused yacht concept.

" Revenge travel " might as well be known as "regular travel" at this point: People have continued to spend big on extravagant vacations, especially on luxury small cruise ships and trips planned around experiences and adventures.

Both are niches Vibee is trying to carve out for itself: Looking ahead, the new brand is already planning more music and sea-based vacations, Cohen told Business Insider.

Two Holland America Line crew members die in onboard 'incident' in Bahamas

Two Holland America Line crew members died on the line’s Nieuw Amsterdam ship on Friday.

The deaths occurred following an “incident in an engineering space” around 9:20 a.m. while the ship was calling at Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas, according to a spokesperson for the line.

“All of us at Holland America Line are deeply saddened by this incident and our thoughts and prayers are with our team members’ families at this difficult time,” the spokesperson said in an emailed statement. “The safety, security and welfare of all guests and crew are the company’s absolute priority.”

Nieuw Amsterdam is currently sailing a week-long Eastern Caribbean cruise that departed from Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Saturday, according to CruiseMapper .

“The appropriate authorities were notified, and the cause of the incident is currently being investigated,” the spokesperson added, noting that earlier reports that the crew members died in a fire on board were incorrect.

Holland America is also offering counseling services to team members.
