We’ve categorized the stiffness of our boards into 3 main groups, listed below.  The general rule is the faster you’re skating, the stiffer the deck, but this is not universal.

Flexy – Soft and supple flex profile best suited for carving and cruising on longer boards. The bouncy nature of these decks lets you turn deeper and surf your surrounds.

Medium – The do it all of our boards, a perfect balance of stability and carve. 

Stiff – From cruisers to downhill boards a stiff flex profile excels in stability and responsiveness.  Whether you’re dipping into driveways or bombing a mountain pass you’ll be down with the stiffness.

A pillar of the Landyachtz DH line for over a decade, the Evo has been under the feet of 3 World Champions as well as countless race winners and podium contenders. The Evo 36 offers tighter packaging and more grip to bring it more in line with the demanding nature of modern DH racing without sacrificing its championship winning DNA or legendary stability.

The Evo is a classic example of downhill board design and the concept continues to be effective to this day. A lowered platform and directional wedging work to give you a super stable ride and front-loaded steering that gives you a ton of control while cornering hard. The Evo 36 is the more compact of our two Evo shapes, and at 36" long by 9.5" wide it offers more grip in the corners and a much more agile, responsive ride than the 40. Pressed with 9 plies of Canadian maple, the Evo 36 offers a stiff platform for downhill performance. New this year, the Evo comes with 155mm Gen 6 Bear Grizzly trucks to give you a bit more of a defined hookup from drifts and more control over the steering. The Evo rolls on 73mm 76a Biggie Hawgs for lots of roll speed and grip as well as predictable drifts.

DECK ONLY When most people think of Landyachtz they think of the Evo. Designed by Landyachtz co-founder and past DH World Champ Tom Edstrand. The concept from the beginning has been stability and control while at speed. The bi-products of that design are being easy to push and easy to learn on. The Evo has seen a couple minor revisions over the years, none as dramatic as this year, where we’ve shrunken the entire board by 10%, making the Evo 36. Still 9 plies of Canadian maple, the smaller shape makes the classic lighter and more nimble.

Designed to ride like a car, the Landyachtz Evo Skate and Explore is one of the most stable boards you can get your hands on. The front is wedged up, changing the steering angle of your front truck, giving you more turn for a more agile ride. At the same time, the back is de-wedged down, giving you less turn out of your back truck, for a more stable ride. With all of the steering out of the front, you get all of the maneuverability of a high angle truck, and all of the stability that comes with a low angle truck. Truly the best of both worlds. The drop platform also provides a locked in platform that can handle highway speeds with ease.
