Security Update: WebCollect safe from Meltdown & Spectre attacks

We have added a Subscriptions Category feature.  This will enable organisations with a large number of different types of subscriptions to lay them out in categories.

You can now customise your fonts on WebCollect

Card Offline (members) payment method added.  Process card payment using your offline card facility. Use this method if you have a merchant account, but not an Internet merchant account. The member can select this method in checkout, declaring that they wish to pay offline (eg at the event).

Membership numbers now show on the member's My Home page.

You can now add customised text to the checkout page.

In the subscriptions renewal email/pdf, you can now remove the subs/member information .

You can now view pending subscriptions as a list on the subscriptions page.

The API now includes events and event bookings.

Event Co- Ordinators can now create new events.

Events now have an option for administrators to be able to buy outside the Selling Date restrictions .  This is useful if you want to fill places from a waiting list, or give some members priority entry.

The Royal Tay Yacht Club in Scotland moved from their former clubhouse and purchased a new all electric eco-friendly clubhouse, working on reducing carbon emissions and cost-efficiency. This was a fundamental change to its operating model which had been in place for the last 68 years. These changes have been embraced by members and represent a cultural shift as well as behavioural change. The new building has underfloor heating generated by new air source heat pumps, a high standard of thermal insulation, maximising solar gain, and offers electric vehicle charging. Waste reduction, recycling, and regular beach clean-ups all take place.

Dundee is a perfect place to find your sea legs and try a bit of sailing.

The Royal Tay Yacht Club in Broughty Ferry has been teaching local land lubbers how to know their leeward from their windward since 1885.

Sailing is a sport for all

Don’t be put off by their grand-sounding name though, as the good folks at the RTYC believe that sailing is a sport for all. They have a fantastic clubhouse overlooking the Tay and run regular yacht sailing training, races and events like “Go Sailing Sundays” where groups of club members and their family and friends set off for a sail and a picnic.

If you prefer to stay on dry land however, you can join the Dundee Model Boat Club which was also formed in 1885. They meet regularly at Stobsmuir (“Swannie”) Ponds in the east end of the city where they have a small clubhouse. All types of models are sailed including small and large yachts and scale models.

The Royal Tay Yacht Club

The first Squib appeared at the Royal Tay Yacht Club in 1971 and was quickly found to be a safe, cost-effective and competitive boat, well able to cope with the River Tay’s strongest tides. A  keen Squib fleet was quickly established at the heart of the thriving club, revellling in the  delights and challenges on and off the water.

As a result there is still a popular, competitive but friendly Squib fleet at RTYC today. The Squib Class on the Tay holds three evening series in the sailing year and are regulars at club regattas and trophy races.

Nigel Farage’s salty yacht club broadsides steal the election show

W hile Rayner begs Muslims for votes , Farage talks to hacks about boats. The Reform UK campaign launched on a damp day in Dover, at the Royal Cinque Ports Yacht Club, which has seen better times (c.Waterloo).

The ceiling had a crack in it. The room was airless and small. We waited impatiently for Nigel to speak – he was pacing the balcony outside, like Eva Peron – and Reform’s press guru could surely see we were getting grumpy.

“Imagine there’s stirring music,” he suggested. “Would you like us to hum Nimrod?” replied a comedian.

 I whispered to a colleague that I might pass out with the heat, and he shouted: “Open a window would you? Stanley’s having a hot flush.”

I wish he hadn’t done that. I find Nigel’s staff intimidating – all crew-cuts, six-packs and a whiff of Old Spice. I think he recruits from gyms.

He appeared via a door marked “Victory Bar”, and a gust of salty air breathed through the election.

Starmer is a “middle manager” while Rishi is a “frightened rabbit”, he said. The real issue is the “invasion” in the Channel, a “slow motion D-Day in reverse” that is also flooding the continent with“aggressive young males”.

A TV presenter called the latter remark “Farage’s customary inflammatory language”. The BBC had to apologise. Aside from breaking editorial rules, he was quoting Donald Tusk.

The media is cynical about Nigel because he’s chosen not to run, suggesting that as soon as the election’s over he’ll swan off to America (the tan is very Mar-a-Lago; it practically sizzles). 

But why focus on one constituency when he can wander the country, generating headlines, stealing the limelight? One can imagine Richard Tice, relegated to second fiddle, watching with fury.

Reform has hardly any money, Nigel disclosed, and few activists. But it has him. And he’s worth Labour and the Tories put together.

The Q&A was a hoot. Most politicians speak with pre-picked journalists, but Nigel sent the microphone around the room with the implication being: “Give it your best shot.”

Do you want to join or kill the Conservatives, asked the BBC? “Is there a Conservative Party?” he replied. “I haven’t spotted it.”

Centre in fear of the margins

You’ve been accused of Islamophobia and anti-Semitism, said The Guardian - and Nigel looked genuinely surprised. “It seems I’m hated by everyone. I’m like Millwall Football Club.”

Then a lady from Sky challenged him to define the “British values” he claims are under threat. “Well, you’re here,” he replied without missing a beat. “I doubt you’d be welcome at that Angela Rayner meeting.”

Footage of Ange pleading with a room of men of Asian heritage to vote for her had leaked that morning, suggesting Labour is just as spooked by George Galloway’s Workers Party as the Tories are by Reform. The centre lives in fear of the margins.

Questions completed, half the crowd surged on to the balcony for fresh air only to find the other half having a cigarette. The thread that runs from Ukip to Brexit Party to Reform is tobacco.

That and curious colour schemes. The Reform flyweights wear luminous blue ties – but what kind of blue? Turquoise? Teal? “I don’t know,” said a colleague, “but if you ever see that coming out your taps, don’t drink it.”

The windy Russian autumn weather might be a little bit tricky for sailing, but it doesn’t stop brave yachtsmen from all over the world from flocking to Russian capital in the beginning of September when the Moscow Yacht Show commences. The main Russian Yacht exhibition gathers professional and amateur yacht lovers together under the wing of The Royal Yacht Club.

This year it took place for a fourth time already. The exhibition is considered the principal event on the sporting and social calendar. The Moscow Yacht Show 2010 united in one area three of the largest Russian yachts distributors: Ultramarine, Nordmarine and Premium Yachts.

A wide range of yachts were on display for a week. An exhibition showcased yachts both from Russian manufacturers and world famous brands: Azimut, Princess, Ferretti, Pershing, Riviera, Doral, Linssen, etc.

It was a real feast for seafarers as visitors of the show had a unique chance not only to take a look at the newest superyachts before they hit the market, but also to evaluate their driving advantages during the test drive. The show provided an excellent opportunity for yacht enthusiasts to choose and buy a new boat for the next season.

The event started with the grandiose gala evening. It included grand dinner, the concert and professional awards ceremony for achievements in Russian yachting industry. The guests also enjoyed the annual regatta.

Special guest Paolo Vitelli, Azimut Benetti Group president, opened the evening.

Next year organizers assured guests they would bring more yachts, the scale of which will even make oligarch Roman Abramovich envious. Sounds very promising indeed.

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.
