Cruising History – First owner sailed her from Sweden to Turkey between 1996/8, part of the ‘Top Yacht’ owners clubsailing the Turkish waters and Aegean.

Bought by the current owners in Turkey 2000 sailed in Turkey until 2005. Then in the East Med Rally from 2005 covering Cyprus, Lebanon, Israel, Egypt, Greek/Aegean and finally the Ionian from 2017 where she has remained cruising locally.

Maxi yachts have a well-deserved reputation for quality and build, don’t resemble the heavier and more traditional HRs, Najads and Malös. They combine Swedish flair with superior performance, and if you are looking at this you probably know that already. This boat is a very spacious yacht, affording well laid out accommodation, including an enormous owner’s cabin. You do not see many of these coming to market, Maxi owners have a reputation for hanging on to their boats as they are more than happy with them.

Voyage / Maxim 38 is a compact but reliable (stable) performance oriented cruising catamaran with extraordinary space for its size. Ther boat is designed for cruising the 7seas. Its an owner version but sleeps 8 persons. The interieur is designed ahead of its building year (2003). Manufactured in Durban / Southafrica and designed by the Lepard designer. Between 2000 and 2007 50 Maxim 38 have been built by Voyage catamarans. Most of them are on their way around the world. (Check out Maxim Owners forum in Facebook) Situated in Greece / Marina Messolonghi which can be reached easily within 2hrs from Athens airport.

This Maxim is in remarkably good condition inside and outside since it had only 1 owner, never been chartered and was not used for 7 years plus stored on the hard. It underwent a mayor refit 2021/22 and is now ready to sail the oceans again.

The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL

Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio .311 Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3

• SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
• D : Displacement in pounds.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.

• LWL: Waterline length in feet

Comfort Ratio

This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.

The company was founded in the late 1960s by Pelle Petterson, a respected designer and accomplished sailor. Created in partnership with Turkish designer Murat Iyriboz and U.S. outfit DLBA, the Tuna Masters can be used for serious angling and casual family outings. The two models showcase molded fiberglass exteriors, the same sleek hull, and an impressive beam of just over 12 feet. Both also deliver “exciting performance,” according to Vicem.

The interior is the main difference between the two: The 37 CC showcases a walkaround center console, whereas the 37 Express has more of a cruiser-style cockpit with a wraparound windscreen under the hardtop. The Express is also outfitted with a full lower cabin.

The helm is positioned front and center of the enclosed cockpit, with wraparound guest seating nestled behind. To the aft lies a triple-seater bench, two fighting chairs, a built-in bait well, and multiple pole holders. The live bait tank has an impressive capacity of 45 gallons, too.

The lower deck features a galley, a head, a rod locker, and a cabin that can be tailored to the owner. (You can opt for twin berths in a V formation or a full double V-berth if you want more space.) The fit and finish are quintessentially Vicem, with teak decking and detailed joinery throughout.

“The lower accommodation area is both versatile and exceptionally comfortable, notably featuring an impressive two-meter headroom without compromising the yacht’s sleek profile,” the team adds. “The 37 Express perfectly complements the CC version and underscores our commitment to enthusiasts who prioritize both fishing and cruising.”

The first Vicem Tuna Masters 37 Express is currently in Puerto Rico.
