Measuring 49.4 metres, the renowned motor yacht Te Manu was first launched in 1998 as MY Andale. She was born in Viareggio, the conception of Codecasa Yachts, a family run enterprise that has been manufacturing luxury superyachts since 1825. Constructed in all white, with a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, Te Manu is fully MCA certified, and already a star of the charter market, she underwent an extensive 18 month refit in 2018-2019.

An enormous amount of work was put into the vessel, with the goal of bringing her to the height of her potential. With fresh paint, new teak and new generators just to name a few, she has never looked so good. As you can well imagine, she has recently re-entered the charter market, gleaming, polished and ready to welcome guests anywhere between Monaco and St Maarten.

Captain Oscar Wollheim is proud to tell you that his bridge equipment is the “latest and greatest,” but when it comes to technical amenities, that is only the beginning. With a 500gt commercial license, they now have a brand new DMSMS suite and all the technology to go with it. From a guest point of view, Te Manu is fully decked out with all the latest perks. Netflix everywhere, impeccable stereo surround sound, and one of the most coveted amenities - an elevator that serves all four decks, from the lower guest accommodation deck all the way up to the upper sundeck.

From a cruising perspective, Te Manu has twin 2200hp Caterpillar diesel engines which can comfortably cover 4000nm. This means ultimate peace of mind for charter guests, not to mention less time lost for fueling up. She has zero speed stabilizers so is able to anchor in rough water and is extremely comfortable at high speeds. And speaking of speed? Twelve knots is her comfortable cruising speed but she can push it up to 16 knots when she wants to. In short, with Te Manu, Codecasa was way ahead of the game in creating this beautiful yacht, for she strikes a perfect balance between luxury and performance.

Her sophisticated exterior design is definitely consistent with her signature brand, but that is only the beginning. Moving inside, Te Manu doesn’t cease to impress. With a lush interior designed by Studio Franco and Anna Della Role, Te Manu can accommodate up to 12 guests in six staterooms, including the master and VIP which are located on the main deck. All are en suite and have their own fully wired entertainment centres, so getting away for a quiet moment in your cabin can be done in complete comfort.

The main deck is home a stunning master suite as well as a VIP double. On the lower deck there are two more doubles and two twins, all conveniently served by the elevator, so guests are welcome to choose the room that suits them best, as all are equally accessible. The decoration is luxurious and calming, with touches of dark wood and tones of blues as a throwback to the sea.

The common areas are equally well designed with a fluid layout to lead guests from one sensation to the next. Have a cocktail at the polished wooden bar in the salon before moving on to dinner in the stunning dining room, equipped with panoramic views from all sides. The divine cuisine on board Te Manu is courtesy of the talented Chef Flavio Moreno. Born and raised in Portugal, Flavio seized the opportunity to combine his love of the sea with his passion for fine cuisine and has now worked as a superyacht chef for over nine years.

Flavio is highly adaptable in his approach and can turn his hand to a wide range of culinary styles, using only the freshest of local ingredients. After a memorable meal, finish the night off in the sky lounge where, once again, full length windows offer breathtaking views no matter what the hour.

The stunning Te Manu is one of those rare yachts that seems to effortlessly cater to everyone, with a layout that maintains a level of intimacy highly valued by repeat clients, who range from families and businessmen to royals and celebrities. Perhaps it is this versatility that has made her such a consistently successful charter yacht for so many years.

Te Manu offers a range of activities and facilities to accommodate guests of all ages. The elevator makes her an ideal choice for elderly clients, while children are equally at ease with just a few steps from deck to deck, and secure open spaces, such as the veranda, can be converted into a play area for little ones. In addition, as this space is enclosed and fully air conditioned, guests can sit and enjoy the surroundings without actually being exposed to the weather. There is strategically placed tinted glass as well, resulting in total privacy with no sacrifice. This is just one of the many modular spaces that makes Te Manu an exceptionally adaptable vessel.

A seasoned charter Captain, Oscar Wollheim has been with the yacht since 2020, and with over 30 years of experience behind him, he certainly knows how to run a tight ship. His extensive experience with new builds and refits ensures that any unexpected issue will always be handled with competence and professionalism.

On hand at all times, his 10 highly qualified and attentive crew strive to create a seamless experience for their guests, whether they are looking for discretion and relaxation or a party scene. One crew member is even a semi-professional singer, known to occasionally perform and encourage guests to get involved as well - certainly not something you see every day! “Each guest is different,” reflects Oscar. “Some want no interaction, especially in the evening, then others need close attention 24 hours a day. We can cater to a range of ages at the same time, from young adults to octogenarians, all doing different things, going to bed early or going out to the wee hours of the morning.”

When not crooning the night away, guests can be found enjoying the large sundeck, impressive jacuzzi and extensive fitness equipment. There is ample space for dining, tanning, or an evening yoga class, and once again the strategic layout provides for total privacy even when in port. From the main deck aft, twin staircases provide easy access to the bathing platform.

For some action out on the water there’s a great selection of toys including a wave runner, kayaks, water skis, wakeboard, and inflatables, available to guests under the watchful eye of the yacht’s qualified watersports instructors. As Captain Oscar explains: “We’re a very attentive crew, very focused on the safety of the guests. We always have a tender watching the guests when they’re in the sea and always aware of where our guests are.”

TE MANU features

Luxury 49m charter yacht TE MANU was delivered in 1998 and fully refitted in 2019. In impeccable condition, she has an exciting array of water sports toys and tenders on board. She cruises easily at 12 knots and is fitted with zero speed stabilisers.

TE MANU can sleep up to 12 guests in six generously-sized staterooms. Each of the staterooms is equipped with an iPod dock and an entertainment system and comes with an elegant ensuite bathroom. Her spacious master suite is located on the main deck. Featuring an office area overlooking the ocean, the master suite opens into a magnificent ensuite bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and steam shower.

TE MANU’s VIP suite is situated on the main deck and her guest accommodation is located on the lower deck which consists of two double and two twin staterooms. Both twin cabins are also equipped with a Pullman berth for maximum charter flexibility. Ensuring complete privacy for guests, TE MANU has a separate companionway leading to her crew accommodation on the lower deck.

Located on the main deck, TE MANU’s large open-plan salon is the perfect space for relaxing onboard. The main salon leads into her large formal dining room which features a polished oval table for 12 guests.

Equipped with an entertainment system, the library features a comfortable seating area and has a large collection of novels. Located on the bridge deck, TE MANU’s magnificent skylounge is designed for socialising.

On the main deck aft, a large open space can be used for lounging. Twin staircases lead down to TE MANU’s large bathing platform with easy access to the ocean when swimming or using the tenders. The bridge deck aft is set up as an alfresco dining area with built-in lounge seating.

Forward you’ll find a lounge space with twin sunpads, the ideal spot for relaxing. Her sundeck is a multi-purpose leisure space. Get in an open-air workout with her high-tech fitness equipment or enjoy a yoga session. Unwind in the large spa pool then move to the shaded dining area.

An all-action charter experience, TE MANU’s onboard toy box features the very latest tenders and toys. Highlights include a 6.10m Novurania Equator tender, a three-person WaveRunner, Seabobs, kayaks, water skis and more. She has a fantastic selection of inflatable towables and also carries fishing and snorkelling gear.

Te Manu was built in 1998 by Codecasa (Italy). The hull is steel with aluminum superstructure and teak decks. Incorporates a bulbous bow for improved speed and fuel consumption, with 5 watertight compartments, and hydraulic lifting stern garage door. The luxury yacht is arguably the finest yacht delivered from Codecasa to date. The vessel was built to Lloyds classification and is MCA compliant. Te Manu has been repainted including various improvements and upgrades between November 2003 and April 2004.

She was superbly built in 1998 by Codecasa and is an extremely impressive yacht with an equally impressive crew of 11 who are dedicated to making your cruise a very warm, personal and memorable experience. Here is a run down of their experience and skills.

Luxury yacht Te Manu Captain: Dave Johnson (American)     Captain Dave Johnson was born in the United States. He was brought up & educated in the North West of England where he completed his academic studies in 1989. Dave graduated from Liverpool University with a degree in Mechanical & Production Engineering. His professional yachting Career began in 1990 when he sailed on the Motor Yacht 'Stefaren' a 54 meter Brooke Yacht built in Southampton, England and Dave served on deck for 2 years before obtaining the necessary qualifications to take over as the yachts First Officer. He held this position he for over seven years, whilst working for two different owners and working with different captains. Dave joined M/Y Te Manu (ex M/Y Andale) as the first officer in April 1999 and during this time he completed four Atlantic crossings and numerous coastal voyages throughout the Mediterranean as Captain. In 2004 Captain Dave received the award for the best captain of the year.

First Officer: Phil Baker (New Zealand)

  Phil was born and raised in Christchurch, New Zealand where he qualified as a cabinetmaker and gained experience in Antique restoration. Phil has worked on yachts for over 22 years and completed his 3000 ton Masters license in 2002. He is a world travelled yachtsman who likes to explore different cultures and enjoys hiking. Phil has been a valuable crew member aboard Te Manu since 2002, where he joined in Tahiti and cruised the Pacific, Caribbean and Mediterranean.  

Chief Stewardess: Suignette Van Den Berg    In 1997 Suignette begin a new career in the Yachting industry in the United States. During the next four years, Suignette worked successfully as a stewardess on several sailing and also power yachts. During her career she has and travelled extensively throughout the Caribbean waters and also up and around eastern coast of the United States, Canada and the Mediterranean. Suignette joined Te Manu in 2001 cruising the Pacific and later became Chief Stewardess. She is dedicated and always looking to make the most out of every situation.

Chef: Joanne Dew   Joanne has completed a 4 year long Diploma in Professional Cookery & Food Management at the Cape Town Technical Hotel School. She also has a three-year Diploma in Cordon Bleu cooking. Since 1995 she have been traveling and working throughout the world. Joanne enjoys cooking with robust Mediterranean flavors as well as cuisine with an interesting Asian influence.. She joined been on the yacht since April 2001 where she is a well loved Chef and Crewmember. 

Chief Engineer: Finn Abramsson   Finn was born and raised on a Island named Aeroe in Denmark. After his school studies, he became a Ships Mechanic apprentice for Soeby Shipyard. After completing his 4 year apprenticeship served in the Danish Army for nearly 2 years. After his time in the Army, Finn went to engineering school in which he spent some sea time in the Merchant Fleet. His love for travel and devotion to his line of work has driven him to pursue his career in the Yachting Industry. Finn joined Te Manu in December 2006 and has enjoyed the opportunities to meet people from all over the world and to see so many beautiful places.  

Bosun: Dudley Salt

  Dudley was born in Cape Town, South Africa and was raised in a small town called Swakopmund, Namibia. After enjoying farm life where he found his interest for hunting and fishing, he moved back to Cape Town to complete his academic studies. Following his love for the ocean Dudley joined the Te Manu crew in March 2007 as a deckhand. After completing his Yacht Masters and becoming a Jet Ski instructor he was promoted to Bosun enabling his meticulous skills on deck to be passed onto others. Dudley enjoys spending his spare time diving and surfing round the hot spots of the world.  

Stewardess: Kate Morrison   Kate was born in New Plymouth, New Zealand and then moved down to Christchurch, where she completed her schooling. After her studies at boarding school she followed her parents footsteps into the hospitality industry, specializing in restaurants and wineries including managing a busy city café in Brisbane, Australia for 2 years. Having a taste of the hot climate in Queensland she took up flying for the Virgin Group where she had the chance to visit the many tropical sites of the South Pacific Islands. The travel bug then took her to Fort Lauderdale to seek a career in yachting, pursuing her goal to see more of the world. Kate joined Te Manu in December 2008 granting her the opportunity to capitalize on her love of travel and interest in people.

Stewardess: Myla Trestiza  

Myla grew up in Manila, Philippines and moved to France to begin her Yachting Career. After completing 4 years in the industry on both private and charter yachts, she decided to get her feet back on land and fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a Nurse. Her nursing Diploma was completed in California where she practiced for 2 years. She joined Te Manu in Fort Lauderdale and has been on board since May 2007. Myla brings a lot of hard work and energy to the boat, and her love to help others is valued immensely.

2nd Stewardess: Iloise Moolman   Iloise was born in Pietersburg, now known as “Polokwanie,” South Africa in 1983 and was raised in Cape Town. She is the second oldest of four sisters. Iloise is an active person with a love for outdoor sports. She has competed on a provincial level in Jet Ski racing and surfing for Western Province in South Africa. Iloise loves travelling and studied Travel and Tourism. Iloise realized soon after her first employment as a travel agent that she has a lot more of the world to see and accepted an opportunity at a summer camp in the US, Wisconsin as a Ski Instructor for an all girls summer camp. Once she had completed the summer she went on to travel through the states eventually meeting up with Te Manu in The Bahamas in May of 2005, making her dream come true of travelling and working at the same time.
