Luxury yacht FIFTY SHADES is a 32.21m (105' 8") Sanlorenzo 106 built in 2018 in Italy and refitted in 2022. This contemporary motor yacht features interior design by Francesco Paszkowski Design and can accommodate up to ten guests in five suites with a main deck master. The world class crew of five are led by the experienced captain.

EXTERIOR There is plenty of space for guests to choose from on deck. The comfortable, sociable flybridge offers dining, sunbathing in full sun or under the retractable roof plus exceptional views and a chance to hang out with the captain at the forward helm controls. Alternative sunbathing space is found on the foredeck sun pads which can also be used for a casual meal as the table is flexible. Both areas can be covered by awnings if needed. The main deck aft is the perfect location for guests to gather and enjoy an alfresco meal whether for lunch before indulging in some water sports or at night to savour the atmosphere on deck. There is access from the aft deck to the hydraulic swim platform.

INTERIOR The designer interior is sure to impress not only with its size and light but also the clever accents of colour and contemporary art on display. The main salon has a huge wrap around sofa surrounding a coffee table aft and a forward dining setting able to seat everyone on board. The salon also boasts a fold out balcony so guests can walk out over the water.

There is a main deck master forward while the additional accommodation is on the lower deck.

The light and airy feel continues on the lower deck where the accommodation is configured as two VIP suites with queen beds, one convertible double with queen bed and one twin suite. The main deck master is full beam with a king-sized bed facing the panoramic windows, a comfortable sofa, office / vanity, walk in closets and a stunning ensuite. All the other cabins are well designed, comfortable and benefit from the luxury and privacy of ensuite bathroom facilities.

Captain: Capt. Kemuel Morales was born and raised on the west side of Puerto Rico. At an early age, Kemuel followed in his father´s footsteps and came to develop an immense passion for the sea and everything it encompasses. He began working on sportfishing boats as a young teenager alongside his father during his summer breaks where his connection and enthusiasm for boats and the ocean continued to grow. After graduation, Kemuel attended college where he earned a degree in Electronics Technologies. He relocated to Florida, soon after, to pursue his true passion. At age 19, Capt. Morales landed his first full time position on a 130 ft. M/Y and has continued to climb the ladder ever since. During the past 13 years, he has traveled around the world on yachts ranging from 75 ft. to 165 ft. Kemuel’s passion and dedication have led him to become a licensed Captain, where he continues to strive for excellence and bring joyful times to his guest with the assistance of his crew. Capt. Morales is currently working on his upgrade towards the 1600-ton license. While on land he enjoys family gatherings, mountain biking and fishing. Chef: “in progress” Chief Stewardess: Ashling Schiffelbian is 30 years old and was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Driving center consoles and being on the water since she was 9, Ash knew the sea was for her. Ashling´s parents have been in yachting since they were in their early 20’s and she followed their path. Right out of high school and after finishing a couple semesters off in college, a 156´ Delta Yacht offered her first stewardess position, and she hasn’t looked back since. From working as a deckhand on a 286´ Lurssen to a chief stewardess position on board motor yacht Fifty Shades, Ashling´s passion for guest satisfaction has kept her goals focused and ready for success. Her hobbies include gardening and preserving freshwater fish. Deck/Stew: Jessica Giraldo 33 years is age, with Colombian background and was born and raised in Miami, Florida. she has been on the water for most of my life by visiting the Keys and enjoying the inter coastal waterways. She enjoys cooking for family and friends which lead her to develop an interest in cooking and service. After numerous land-based jobs she started yachting in 2019 and has been improving her skills since. Jessica currently works as ad deck stewardess and as she determines her next step in yachting. While on land her dogs Nina and Whiskey keep her company and enjoy beach strolls around south Florida. Mate: Geraldo J Pagan Was born and raised in Aguada, Puerto Rico. His passion for the ocean started at an early age, his family would take him on weekend fishing trips and living close to a popular surf spot made him be strongly attached to the sea. Soon after finishing high school, he moved to Fort Lauderdale where he started his career in the yachting industry. His first job was as boat detailer and with his leadership and determination he became the manager of a known company in Fort Lauderdale. In such position he expanded his knowledge and abilities on boats ranging from 40-100ft. After six years working on a land-based company, he made the transition to the sea and since then he has been working his way up. Geraldo currently holds a USCG 100T master license as well as Diving Certificates and Seakeeper Tech certifications. It’s no doubt his future goals are to become a captain and continue enjoying his love for the sea.

FIFTY SHADES - SANLORENZO SL106

FIFTY SHADES is now available and can be considered the nicest and most well equipped Sanlorenzo SL106 available. The current owner recently spent over $500,000 in 2022 taking an already well conditioned yacht and making it exceptional. The owner hired Cullen Moser, an interior designer whom helped design their previous yacht, and they replaced every single upholstery and fabric throughout creating a theme of color and vibrance that is not seen on any other SL106. Custom artwork was commissioned that carries this theme through each of the interior spaces. A master on deck and four addition guest staterooms each with ensuite head makes Fifty Shades a great option for large families or for charter purposes. A garage aft that stores a 2020 Williams jet tender plus jet ski as well as various toys for water sports and a hydraulic swim platform for easy entry to the sea.

She recently completed the 2000 hour service on her MTU engines that also have extended warranty until November 2025. The MTU 16V2000 engines can achieve cruise speeds of 20-22 knots and a top speed of over 29 knots. Keeping the yacht in excellent condition carries over to the engineering department as well with many reconditioning and replacement of various equipment and parts throughout.

A pack of killer whales sank a 50-foot yacht in Moroccan waters Sunday when the massive sea mammals slammed into the vessel and forced two sailors aboard to flee, officials said.

Spanish authorities said the crew members were rescued by a passing oil tanker that was alerted to the desperate situation after the boat sprang a leak during the orca encounter in the Strait of Gibraltar.

The two people were customers, and the vessel belonged to Spanish company Alboran Charter, according to the Washington Post .  

The yacht, which was 14 miles from the Cape Spartel coast, later sunk to the bottom of the ocean in the latest orca attack that has prompted experts to warn other sailors of danger in the area.

Last October, a Polish tour agency’s yacht was relentlessly hit by a herd of orcas for 45 minutes that led to “major damage and leakage,” the agency said. The boat ended up sinking.

Orcas also interfered with a sailing race last year when a boat traveling from the Netherlands to Italy had a 15-minute showdown with the animals. The crew was forced to drop its sails and make a ruckus to repel them.

Since 2020, hundreds of boats sailing in waters near Spain, Morocco and Portugal have encountered at least 15 orcas that led to some of the vessels sinking, the Washington Post reported.

Spain’s ministries for transport and the environment warned sailors of sailing boats and small motorboats that orca activity is at its peak between May and August between the Strait of Gibraltar and the Gulf of Cadiz. Officials encouraged boaters to sail near the coast.

A team of Spanish and Portuguese marine life scientists, called the Atlantic Orca Working Group, said there were 197 interactions between boats and killer whales in 2021 and 207 more in 2022.

Killer whales attack and sink 50-foot yacht in Strait of Gibraltar: Spanish officials

A pod of killer whales attacked and sunk a yacht in the Strait of Gibraltar, between Spain and Morocco, officials confirmed to ABC News.

Two people were on board the vessel when the incident occurred Sunday at 9 a.m. local time, according to Spain's maritime authority.

The nearly 50-foot yacht, named The Alboran Cognac, was 15 miles from Cabo Espartel in Morocco when an unknown number of orcas began ramming it.

The couple alerted Spanish authorities and a rescue team arrived to extricate them from the vessel an hour after the attack, though officials were unable to salvage the sinking boat.

There have been approximately 700 orca attacks since 2020, according to GT Orca Atlantica, a conservation group, and officials believe there are more than 37 orcas in the Strait of Gibraltar.

The Strait of Gibraltar connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea, separating Europe from Africa.

"During the summer and autumn of 2020, interaction events began to occur between several specimens of this species and vessels, mainly sailboats, both in the Strait of Gibraltar and in the waters of the Galician coast," according to Spanish government officials. "These interactions have ranged from persistent approaches to ships, to ramming the hull and rudder, causing various types of damage, which continue today."

It's unclear why orcas attack boats, though experts hypothesize the marine mammals could be targeting vessels for sport or they feel threatened.

According to a study in Biological Conservation , a peer-reviewed journal, "sophisticated learning abilities" have been found to exist in orcas.

In June 2023, racing yachts in the Strait of Gibraltar had a close encounter with a pod of orcas, race officials said at the time.

Crew members aboard a rival pair of 65-foot yachts were on the final leg of The Ocean Race, a global sailing competition, when they reported being intercepted by killer whales as their boats approached the Strait of Gibraltar.

No fatalities were reported in the incident, according to officials.

Orcas Sink 50-Foot Yacht As Second Summer Of Aquatic Rage Ignites

The region has seen several attacks over the past few years, and they're beginning to look thoroughly orca-strated..

Two sailors had their voyage cut unexpectedly short when orcas rammed the rudder and hull of their 15-meter (49-foot) yacht off the Atlantic coast of Portugal last weekend. There have been several similar attacks in this region since 2020, and though an official catalyst for the attacks isn’t known, researchers theorize it could be playful curiosity, or potential targeting of what the whales may perceive as competitors for local bluefin tuna, orca’s favorite meal. Maybe orcas have a Kia Boys-style social media trend happening that allows them to realize how easy it is to sink a yacht.

Thankfully this particular attack resulted in no human injuries, as the two sailors on the damaged vessel alerted rescue services and a nearby oil tanker took them aboard and safely delivered them to Gibraltar. Their yacht wasn’t so lucky, as it was left adrift and eventually sank. The passengers reported feeling random bumps to the hull and the rudder followed by water leaking into their boat. CNN reports,

The incident is the latest example of recurring orca rammings around the Gibraltar Strait that separates Europe from Africa and off the Atlantic coast of Portugal and northwestern Spain. Experts believe them to involve a subpopulation of about 15 individuals given the designation “Gladis.” According to the research group GTOA, which tracks populations of the Iberian orca sub-species, there have been nearly 700 interactions since orca attacks on ships in the region were first reported in May 2020.

Whatever the motivation, these killer whales have made quite a statement against the yachting community in the region. Orcas are the largest members of the dolphin family, so they can be deviously smart and massively destructive creatures. It seems like these repeated attacks are well-orca-strated, and often involve attacks to ship rudders showing the whales have a rudder-mentary understanding of how to disable a boat. If you’re planning a sailing trip through the Strait of Gibraltar, maybe consider a safer alternative like donating some of your excessive wealth to a charity instead.

“This was a scary moment,” the skipper Jelmer van Beek said at the time. “Three orcas came straight at us and started hitting the rudders. Impressive to see the orcas, beautiful animals, but also a dangerous moment for us as a team.”

While that attack didn’t result in the sinking of the ship, another sailing yacht sank near the Tanger Med port in November, The New York Times wrote. The crew of that ship had to abandon the boat after a group of orcas slammed into the rudder for a whole 45 minutes. (The whales have seemingly been targeting sailboats in particular.)

Researchers don’t know for sure why the whales have been attacking boats, but they think it may be one of the ways the orcas play, the Times said—a pretty dangerous form of amusement, albeit. Others have theorized that it’s a short-term fad among the animals, or that one orca experienced a traumatic event that made it aggressive and other whales began to mimic that behavior. The incidents have become so common in recent years that sailors trade advice online about how to maneuver in the Strait of Gibraltar area, and the Spanish government issued a release that included tips for sailors.
