A Chalet So Pale, Snow Would Blanch

Campo Tures, Italy

PETER REICHEGGER recently discovered that his two greatest passions have something in common. “I am obsessed,” he said, “with white light” — whether it flashes incandescently in the engine exhaust of a race car speeding around a track, or bounces off the colorlessly clean surfaces of a modern interior.

A developer in Europe who spends his free time racing cars, Mr. Reichegger, 42, won the Shell Cup Italia at the 2005 Ferrari Challenge, a series of amateur races. He took second place the year before, having missed a key race to attend his son’s first communion.

In professional life Mr. Reichegger is the chief executive of Hobag, a thriving family business that is finishing the first apartment complex in Italy designed by the American architect Richard Meier: an 83-unit cluster in Jesolo Lido, a beach resort near Venice.

He lives between mountain peaks in an oversize chalet in the town of Campo Tures in South Tyrol, a region of northern Italy where people speak a German dialect. Though only seven years old, the house has just been renovated at a cost of $2 million by an architect and former Meier employee, Jacopo Mascheroni.

“This used to be many rooms painted in different colors — peach, blue, ocher,” said Mr. Reichegger, seated on a blocky ottoman. (His wife, Isabella, was with the maid in the kitchen, too absorbed in preparing the evening meal to talk about the house.) He was sipping a 2003 Sauvignon Premstaler, from a vineyard not far away in the Alto Adige, between a day at the office and a 9 p.m. lecture he had to attend to clear a speeding ticket off his record.

The house is now a palace of fine finishes in white. The kitchen, living room and entry hall are connected in an open plan. Cupboards with a slim horizontal groove along the top and bottom blend into picture windows and Corian counters; tables cantilever off single legs bolted to the floor; lighting is recessed, dispersed and computer-controlled. Generous sectional sofas define two sitting areas, each with a fireplace. A stack of firewood stands at the ready, the logs as uniform as pretzel sticks.

Using a remote control with at least 50 buttons, Mr. Reichegger turned on surround-sound lounge music and the plasma television, which showed photos of the house before the renovation. At 7,000 square feet, he said, it used to be “a compartmentalized mix of traditional Alpine, French brasserie and farmhouse,” featuring marble floors, crystal chandeliers and a stube — a cozy wood-paneled dining room typical of the Alps.

The Reicheggers built the chalet-meets-mansion from the ground up in 1999. Uninterested at the time in modern architecture, they had hired Heinz Flattinger, a Munich architect, to create a luxury home in a blend of traditional styles.

What started in 2004 as a small-scale idea to take out walls between rooms on the main floor snowballed into renovations of a 3,000-square-foot area and a huge deck. Mr. Mascheroni’s slick monochromatic style did not blend smoothly with the earlier look.

“The problem became where to stop,” he said, smiling, in a recent interview. In the end the renovations stopped on the second floor, where walking from the master bedroom to the children’s rooms is like passing through a time warp.

Mr. Reichegger had met Mr. Mascheroni through his work. The developer wanted to bring some architectural glitter to Jesolo Lido, an average Italian beachfront with undistinguished buildings. He said that after being turned down for the apartment complex by Jean Nouvel and Renzo Piano, he got lucky with Mr. Meier.

But he didn’t expect the project to change his personal style. “Looking at these white models became an obsession for me,” he said. “I’m young, modern and high tech: I wanted those things visible in my surroundings.”

Mr. Mascheroni was the project architect for the Jesolo Lido apartments, designed in Mr. Meier’s grandly geometric style. As Mr. Mascheroni and Mr. Reichegger worked together they became friends. “Once he took me on a snowmobile ride to a restaurant in the mountains,” the architect said. “The way he drove! I was terrified.”

In 2004 Mr. Mascheroni, his 30th birthday approaching, left Mr. Meier’s office and set up his own practice in Milan. The Reicheggers hired him soon after. A technology-obsessed channel surfer with plenty of money and no fear of eclecticism, Mr. Reichegger is a weird amalgam of futurist and postmodernist — an ideal client for an architect going solo post-Meier.

And his construction company, which built the house, lived up to the South Tyrolean stereotype, melding Italian nuance with Germanic efficiency. “They kept everyone on schedule,” Mr. Mascheroni said. With his client’s own company as general contractor, the architect was freed from negotiating typical builder-client conflicts. Mr. Reichegger even recommended a local subcontractor, Metris, for the interiors.

Not that the renovation was without challenges. “If I could,” Mr. Mascheroni said of the pitched chalet-type roof, “I’d have torn it off.” Now painted a stark white, it is nonetheless awkwardly traditional-looking in the context of the renovation’s cool colors and clean lines.

But on the wide-open 6,000-square-foot deck, a spatial extension of the living area seen through floor-to-ceiling windows, the architect had room to stretch out. The deck’s solid white fence has evenly spaced horizontal beams that elongate the perspective, giving the space a decisive grandeur. Three carefully sculptured trees add a touch of nature, albeit controlled.

As the evening brought a deeper blue to the sky, a timer switched on outdoor lighting, angled to throw striking shadows out from the horizontal beams. The white walls faded to a silver-gray that blended with the ipê-wood decking. This is the hour, Mr. Mascheroni said, when he is happiest with his work.

Maximilian, the Reicheggers’ 10-year-old son, was playing with a new Sony Ericsson cellphone, while their daughter, Helena, 4, dragged her rocking horse across the maple floorboards with a rope. Mr. Reichegger finished his wine and rinsed it off his breath in the dressing room by the front door, ready for the driving lecture but in a minor huff.

“It’s ridiculous,” he said. “They don’t care whether I’m paying attention, sleeping or whatever, as long as I’m there.”

He climbed into the metallic-white Lamborghini he had recently acquired to match the house. The engine roared, and he was off.

Hi all. I sold my Sayer37 mono and brought a Crowther Windspeed39 cat a few weeks ago and have since sailed from Nelson Bay down to Eden. Now waiting for a window to sail down to Tasmania. I'd like to change the standing rig down there, anyone got any good contacts or ideas where would be best to do it?

If you can't get hold of Mezaire (who's in another trade these days AFAIK), talk to R.M Marine at Kettering. I'm really happy with their service - I went with SS over Dyneema in the end, but they're capable of either. Peter Greig (above) was working there when my rig was done last year.

Now waiting for a window to sail down to Tasmania. I'd like to change the standing rig down there, anyone got any good contacts or ideas where would be best to do it? Vernon, if you are still in Twofold bay and wanting a place to see, check out Edrom Lodge from the sea. It's on the south side of Twofold Bay immediately beside the Navy's huge wharf. It's a really old rambling 'california bungalow' style place on a few acres thats mainly used for hosting educational groups etc. I first came across it when on a Uni field trip to the southern forests of NSW in '82. Cheers, and kind seas across the Strait...for Marie's sake.

Dex, if you are waiting for a while in Eden, get down to Bittangabee, great little spot for a cat in the national park. We dried out there too, to do some work before our Bass Strait crossing. Some rocks around but lots of good sand. I remember your boat back in the 90s. She was in Shawn Arber's yard getting lengthened and having the bridgedeck put on. A lot of people working on her. Chris' previous boat was a trimaran, he bought it from me. cheers Phil

At the risk of being condescending, I will post how I did our Bass Starit crossing on a similar cat to Dex'. We were waiting for a nice big high to waft over Bass Strait. When one was sitting over Eden the wind died and we set off, on a 7 knot motor from Eden (we had to go back from Bitaangabee to buy some stuff). Nice dry clear morning and as we went around Gabo under power the wind started to fill in from the East, so motor sailed. About two hours later we are sailing well under screecher and doing a nice 8 knots watching Mallacoota slip by and then the wind just fills in and clocks around the the northeast. For the whole day the boat is just running on a very broad reach and doing some very nice speeds. We slow down a little and furl the screecher over night and by next morning Flinders appears way over to the west. The sea breeze fills in again and we start sailing nicely towards the top of Tassie. We have a front due in about 12 hours so I make the choice to look into St Helens, no real beacons to speak of but about midday we hang about for 15 minutes and watch, then slide on in, an easy bar that day. Later that day the westerly comes in and we are snug. Cheers Phil

Yes. Mezaire is definitely out for the industry. Best pick in Hobart is Peter Johnstons Chandlery, they have a rigging division.

Presenting the Next Phase of the New District Designed by Meier Partners 19 October 2022

Presenting the next phase of the new district designed by the American starchitect: 45 apartments near the beach and an 85-meter-tall building

Corriere del Veneto / October 19, 2022

by Francesco Bottazzo

“No other client has ever worked together with Richard Meier for this long,” Peter Reichegger, CEO of Riv Group, said with a smile. It’s been almost twenty years since the South Tyrolean entrepreneur behind the Venetian seaside resort began to imagine the new Jesolo district together with the New York architect. "It is a unique design district in Italy and in the world" he underscored. It is no coincidence that they called it Jesolo Lido Design District. They started in 2007 with the first group of buildings (the Pool Houses), surrounded by an expansive green space, which the following year won the Dedalo Minosse international prize for architecture. Fifteen years later, the building’s lines remain unmistakably characteristic of Meier’s firm, with large windows to emphasize the natural light in buildings of a signature white. In the years between, the firm built 74 luxurious beachfront residences (The Beach Houses), the Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Jesolo (the first five-star hotel in Jesolo), and The Summer Houses (two contemporary structures with 99 apartments, spas, gyms and 3,000 square meters of sand, dunes and green areas that preserve the original habitat).

New apartments and luxury

Reichegger is now ready to double his investment of 150 million euros. Next week, the construction of another 45 apartments will begin (divided into two structures connected by a bridge in which, needless to say, light is the protagonist). Called the Beach Residences, the project features 10 floors of luxury apartments extending toward the beach. This is the prelude to what will be the centerpiece of the Design District. The Richard Meier Tower, rising to a height of 85 meters, will be a composition of transparent spaces, responsive to the changing light throughout the day, made of natural and refined materials.

Yesterday’s dramatic presentation of the project in Jesolo should have included the starchitect (who turned 88 on 10 October). However, due to a slight indisposition, he had to stay in the hotel. It was a shame, because the CEO of Riv Group also had a surprise in store: the naming of the square in front of the tower that is destined to become the symbol of the new Jesolo Lido skyline. "Richard was enthusiastic about this long-planned visit. He couldn't wait to be here to present his project,” explained Reichegger. “But unfortunately these three weeks of travel to Europe made themselves felt. Nothing serious, but to protect him, the doctors preferred for him to rest.”

A new neighborhood by 2026

The goal is to complete the expansion of the project (new residences and a hotel are planned to be managed by Falkensteiner) by 2026, effectively creating a new seven-hectare Jesolo design district. “It is important to highlight how this complex was created to fit perfectly into the Jesolo context,” said Stefan Scheiber-Loeis, Associate Principal at Meier Partners. “Our idea is to give priority above all to the view of the sea, to the link with water that characterizes Jesolo. Another element of the project’s identity is the green, with the maritime pines that are the distinctive sign of the coast. Finally, we emphasize the open areas, which are fundamental in a project like this. The architecture creates the space, and the space belongs to the community." The intent was not to disrupt the spaces but to improve them, creating a link between the new buildings, the surrounding space and the beach. Scheiber-Loeis still remembers when as a child he went to Jesolo with his family and immediately asked his parents where to find the sea. The last of the colonies that used to crowd the site, the Santa Margherita, will be removed to make way for the Beach Residences, so the new front designed by Meier Partners stands out.

From 7 to 12 thousand euros per square meter

Eventually, 2,500 people will be able to live in the new Jesolo district, using the gardens and the beach. "Our estimates are that only 50 percent will use the seafront," explains Reichegger. The cost ranges from seven to twelve thousand euros per square meter, depending on the location and height. And to think that the first apartments, fifteen years ago, were on sale for 300 thousand euros. Now the cost of a two-room apartment is almost double. Previously, the owners were mainly Italians, but since the pandemic and the lockdown, Austrians, Germans, Poles, and wealthy Eastern European families occupy half of the accommodations. The absence from yesterday’s event of the new municipal administration may have signaled disagreement with other megaprojects. But as Reichegger said, "We did not just put up a building and flee. We redeveloped a large area of Jesolo through an urban plan. We want to give the city structures that can be enjoyed by the area’s residents, and among other benefits have generated some 12 million euros through job creation and taxes."

ARCH INSTALLATION TIPS

  • Measure where you think The arch feet are going to land on the back of the boat, pick either the front or back leg landing positions and measure the span. Check for backing plate/nut access at these positions.
  • Assemble the arch laying on dock and slide the sides into the bridge evenly until the leg span you measured is Approx 5-6” wider than your goal span. Tape the joints at the bridge using masking tape to stop it sliding further in when you are test fitting.
  • Measure the “drop” from where you think the forward legs will land and the aft legs will land and trim the forward legs. Accordingly. I usually leave them a couple inches longer than I think they need to be, and do the final trim once I’m at the mocking up stage.
  • Assemble the arch feet and install them, using string to secure them to the arch legs using a rolling hitch.
  • Use a block and tackle or a truckers hitch to squeeze the legs together to match the span you are aiming for. No more than 6”.
  • Hoist arch into position using topping lift or main halyard  (and two people) and test fit. At this point you can measure exactly how much you need to trim off the forward legs to make the arch fit level.
  • If the arch needs to sit lower, once you have it level, you can trim both legs the same amount. Keep in mind that as the arch gets shorter the span will narrow slightly due to the geometry of the arch.
  • Once you like the position, mark the feet in their positions using sharpie and lower the arch back to the dock. Release the block and tackle and drill/bolt the bridge. Drill and epoxy/bolt the feet into position.
  • Hoist the arch again and check all landing positions on feet one final time. Mark bolt holes on gelcoat and move arch out of the way for drilling. Try to pick the forward or aft feet and do them in pairs, pick whichever set you think will allow you to bolt it down securely then pivot the arch back or forward to do the other pair after (check orientation of arch feet for pivot ability).
  • Through bolt all feet and tighten. If fitting to an uneven surface, back fill the area behind the plate with thickened epoxy.
  • Tighten all bolts on foot bases.

As much as we would love to accommodate liveaboards during this time, it is simply too inefficient for us and expensive for you, the customer. For vessels with excessive items on board preventing efficient work, we will provide on-site storage pods at market rates.

5. Third Party Warranties: This includes any warranty claim that is to be made against the original manufacturer or seller of the vessel or product. Should a warranty claim arise, The Yacht Rigger will estimate the job accordingly. It will then be up to the customer to obtain approval from the applicable 3rd party (boat manufacturer, spar manufacturer, etc.). If approved & immediately upon completion of the warranty issues, the customer is solely responsible for the payment of the work completed. It is then the responsibility of the customer to be reimbursed by the applicable 3rd party.

6. Yard Hours: The boatyard hours are 8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday- Sunday. The boatyard gate locks at 6:00pm. You may come check on your vessel, re-secure rigging, canvas and pump out water during business hours. Please check in with the office if you are near closing hours.

7. Utilities: Boatyard provides power & water to vessel owners as a part of their agreement so long as the owner fully adheres to all Rules and Regulations. When you are finished with the water hoses, turn them off and place them back neatly in the area you found them. Please ask a Salt Creek Marina Boatyard Employee for access to either option.

8. Outside Contractors/ Subcontractors With Management approval (determined individually) contractors may work on a storage vessel for a fee of $40 a day in addition to monthly storage/dockage fee. The owner shall be responsible for informing the office of any subcontractor working on the vessel for any purpose whatsoever. The subcontractor shall submit insurance before any work can commence. Salt Creek Marina and/or The Yacht Rigger reserves the right at its sole discretion to stop unsafe work practices and if deemed necessary to order the offending worker(s) to leave the site at the Owner’s/Skipper’s sole risk and expense.

9. Supplies: All paint including but not limited to, bottom paint, primer or barrier paint, haul or topside paint, varnish or otherwise any paint being applied to your vessel must be purchased through the Boatyard or approved by Management. This policy is for safety and environmental protection purposes of all persons operating in the Boatyard. Paint will normally arrive within 24hrs of purchase.

10. Paint Spraying: There shall be no spraying in the Boatyard under any condition. Any person spraying any paint will be immediately expelled and fines levied.

11. Cleanliness: All vessel owners shall be responsible for keeping their area clean and professional. The Boatyard reserves the right to charge the vessel owner for any cleanup required to comply with RR. All debris associated with boat repair activities must be disposed of daily. A dumpster is located near the parking area.

12. Disposal: There is a designed disposal station of 55 gal drums for oil and one for oily rags and filters located near the office door. PLEASE DO NOT PUT GASOLINE IN THESE DRUMS.

13. Facilities: Bathrooms are provided as a courtesy to all Customers. We will make our best efforts to keep it clean but reserve the right to limit access any time. Please use the outside sink for heavy clean up and use the indoor head/sink for bathroom purposes only. The Yacht Rigger has its own set of facilities to be used by its staff and customers. Please do not use SCM facilities.

14. Parking: Park in the designated parking area. Vehicles should be parked clear of travel lift path, not in storage areas, on the seawall or blocking boats. Salt Creek Marina and/or The Yacht Rigger is not responsible for vehicles that are damaged by equipment or conditions in the yard

15. Regarding noise outside of the scope of work not being completed, i.e., radio/stereo volume, please be respectful of neighboring boat owners’ tenants.

16. Salt Creek Marina and/or The Yacht Rigger is not responsible for any theft or loss of items left on or around the vessel.

17. The yard takes no responsibility for accidents, injury, or death to any persons in or working within the yard at any time. All people wishing to enter the boatyard for any reason do so at their own risk.

18. Failure to comply with these rules and conditions can result in additional charges if Salt Creek Marina and/or The Yacht Rigger personnel are required to do site cleanup operations and/or will be asked to remove your boat from the marina.

19. Additional Rules:

  • Owners are not permitted to test engines, run water for AC or other purposes while on the hard. All electricity and water shall be for the sole purpose of working on their vessel and disconnected when unoccupied.
  • There are to be no mobile AC / Heater Units or Refrigeration Units to be run on the hard.
  •  No unfurling of sails will be permitted at any time, under any circumstance.
  • There is to be no hot work, flame cutting, welding etc. to be done in the yard.

  • Boatyard reserves the right to move vessels when needed without permission or notifying owners.
  • Any trailer, dingy, mast, or other personal property not directly attached to the vessel must be pre-approved, additional charges will apply if approved.
  • Packages – you are welcome to send packages to our address here, but please make sure they state your name and “CO The Yacht Rigger” and limit your packages to 5 a week.

Any modifications outside of these rules will be determined individually by Management. REMEMBER THESE RULES & REGULATIONS ARE FOR EVERYONE’S BENEFIT. PLEASE HELP KEEP THIS BOAT YARD A CLEAN & SAFE WORKPLACE. ** Salt Creek reserves the right to change these rules at any time.

DYNEEMA RIGGING Q&A PETER GREIG

peter reichegger yacht

Peter Greig has been a rigger for over 40 years – originally from Melbourne, Peter moved to Port Douglas in 1989, and continued rigging in the lovely Queensland seaside port ever since.

Known around australia for his incredible splicing skills, pete has been quietly using textile rigging since 2000, not only on yachts but also on communication aerials in png., his convictions are so strong that we thought he would be the perfect man to ask a few questions and learn more about the process:, textile rigging is perceived as the “go to” for racing boats. do you see these textile rigs being standard for cruising production boats in the future and do you think it is reliable enough for the cruising market, i am on my 80 th job with dyneema…only three of those are racing boats yes it is absolutely reliable for the cruising market, in 17 years i have not seen a single failure. i have five cruising furlers i have done in the last three years which are retrofitted with dyneema forestays. the market is cruising boats, however more and more racing boats are attracted to the benefits of dyneema., what are the main advantages and disadvantages of textile rigging in your opinion, light weight, longevity, easy to work with, comparable to the price of wire. nothing i have come across is a disadvantage. there has not been any recording of failure in 20 years. maintenance is non-existent, nothing appears to affect dyneema., as a rigger what did you need to learn to adapt your knowledge from wire rigging to textile and fiber rigging, not much – splicing was part of my training so i only had to adapt to the construction of dyneema and it was easy. i guess it is important to keep in close contact with the manufacturers so you are following their criteria., do you think the industry – and the various suppliers you work with – has enough fittings available for textile rigging or is there still room to improve, some of the manufacturers are slowing changing over to fittings we can retrofit to existing masts. there is no job that cannot have dyneema fitted to it. you can cover just about every combination. there is always room for improvement and i know that there are more fittings in developement, however in most cases every mast can be retrofitted., what are your favourite types of products when it comes down to choosing the right fittings for textile rigging, friction rings of course, soft blocks, and also soft shackles., what do insurance companies say about textile rigging, insurance companies are accepting dyneema rigging. it has been around for 20 years and there is no recorded failure anywhere in the world from professionally done splicing. however stainless steel cases have a huge amount of claims, what are the potential risks boat owners should be aware of when going blue water sailing, dyneema rigging potentially will outlast stainless steel. only severe chafing from something very sharp could affect it, but the same way it would affect wire anyway. i have recently worked on a boat that i rigged 15 years ago and which has done 6000 miles in that time – there was absolutely no deterioration visible., related posts.

Amazing Photos Of The Two Super-Yachts That This Hedge Fund Manager Can't Sell

Apparently a whole lot of wealthy individuals bought super expensive yachts just before the financial crisis began, and because they take two or so years to build, they keep their old one until their new one is ready.

That method is typically hassle-free, according to the New York Times.

Except now, because of the crisis, sellers are finding no-one will buy their yachts - when back in the day, it was only a matter of time before you put your boat on the market, and someone snapped it up.

Hedge fund manager Peter Hochfelder, the founder of $3 billion AUM Brahman Capital Management, is in this predicament.

Check out photos of his two amazing yachts no one wants here >

Hochfelder already owned a yacht, a 134-foot Lürssen, built back in 1995.

The interior of the yacht, called Blind Date, was designed by a renowned interior designer, and Hochfelder even described it as "sexy, cosy and soothing."

Of that boat, he also once said :

I once ran into [Microsoft co-founder] Paul Allen, who owns the 413-foot motoryacht Octopus. I told him, ‘We have a lot in common. You own the largest Lurssen, and I own the smallest.’

Hochfelder ordered a new yacht in 2007 - a 161-foot Trinity - that builders completed two years later. But no-one will buy the old sailboat. And according to the Times, Hochfelder pays about $4 million a year to run his two boats.

So now he's putting both yachts - both named Blind Date ( because that's how he and his wife met ) on the market, hoping and praying that at least one of them will be bought.

The Lurssen had to undergo a $3.5 million price reduction because it wasn't moving, so now it has a $9.5 million pricetag .

The brand new Trinity will set back the purchaser $33 million - there's a video of it here.

The older one has a $9.5 million pricetag ; the brand new Trinity will set back the purchaser $33 million.

And if you're not in the buyer's market, the yachts can also be chartered .

This is Hochfelder's first yacht: A 134-foot Lürssen called "Blind Date" - it will cost you $9.5 million

This is the yacht's main living area - the interior was decorated by renowned designer Patrick Knowles

And this is the master bedroom - the yacht can sleep 8 people

And here's another with a bar and a ton of deck seating, which gets great sun during the day

This is Hochfelder's newer yacht, Blind Date II. It's a 161-ft Trinity and costs $33 million

peter reichegger yacht

The main living area has a bar and a huge flat screen TV

And this is one of the luxurious living areas, with another bar

This is the master suite. The yacht has five cabins and can sleep up to 12.

The master ensuite has a grand free-standing bath

peter reichegger yacht

All cabins have an ensuite bathroom

There's tons of lounging cushions to relax on, and look at the jacuzzi in the center of the deck

And another deck at the stern of the yacht has an al-Fresco dining table

peter reichegger yacht

And for those who aren't looking to buy, but still want to cruise around the Med come Summer, the yachts are available for charter

peter reichegger yacht

But we think we know a few guys who after 2010, may be in the market for some new toys...

These are the hedge funders that absolutely smashed it in 2010 >

Design philosophy.

Balanced Design, Engineering and client criteria bring MPYD boats to life.

By listening to our client's unique tastes, requirements and ideas, we develop unique designs and solutions for each customer.

This text has to be carefully crafted it will need to fit in a small amount of space to hold this unique design more words more words our last words.

MPYD Design Philosophy

The Essence

The design process.

Finely-Tuned Methodology. Thoughtful Team Approach. Concept to Launch.

Preliminary Design

The project begins with an inspired, imaginative meeting with the client and culminates with both scale architectural drawings and artistic renderings. Phase 1 answers the questions: Is this what you wanted? Do you want to move forward? This phase constitutes approximately 10% of the total design project.

peter reichegger yacht

The Bid Package

The Bid Package is a feasibility study of the project. Centered around a business approach, it encompasses technical, financial, and schedule constraints. This process begins with client approval of preliminary design and culminates with a bid package prepared for one or more builders to accurately assess the cost of the build. Phase 2 answers the questions: Can it be done? How much will it cost? Do you want to move forward? The Preliminary Design and Bid Package will comprise approximately 20% of the total design project.

peter reichegger yacht

Engineering and Construction Drawings

Phase 3 is a highly creative and technical design of every part of the vessel. This phase begins with approval of the bid package and culminates with complex, computer-driven, 2-D drawings and 3-D models; a complete instruction manual for the Shipyard. This Phase answers the builder's question: How do we build this yacht? Engineering and construction drawings will constitute approximately 70% of the total design project.

peter reichegger yacht

Production to Delivery

The final phase begins with the builder's acceptance of engineering drawings and culminates with final build-out, sea trials and delivery. During this phase, MPYD continues to consult with Shipyard as the client’s representative. This phase will answer the client’s questions: How are things coming along? Will the delivery schedule be met? Phase 4 constitutes approximately 10% of the total design project.
