Featuring the striking contemporary styling seen on the  Oyster 625 ,  725  and  885  blue water sailing yachts, the 825 has clear deck-lounging areas and our signature vertical ‘Seascape’ windows – a defining characteristic of an innovative new breed of Oyster.

With nearly 15% more internal volume that her predecessor - the acclaimed  Oyster 82  - the 825 provides generous owner and guest accommodation in the 3 double cabins aft, whilst providing a clear separation of space for up to 4 professional crew to discreetly run the yacht.

Below decks she houses a large, full-width saloon giving a remarkable feeling of light and space that is further enhanced by the side-sliding glass companionway. From every angle she is refined and elegant.

The Oyster 825 was offered in Deck Saloon and Raised Saloon versions through the Oyster Custom and Refit teams in Southampton and is succeeded by the Oyster 885 Series 2 bluewater yacht.

The sleek and stylish Oyster 825 is an exciting addition to the range of new yachts launched by Oyster over the last two years and features Oyster's latest striking and contemporary styling, first seen with the highly successful Oyster 625 (of which 10 are now already sold). Clear deck lounging areas and larger hullports with 'Seascape' windows are among the features of this innovative new breed of Oyster yacht. With clean and easily driven hull lines drawn by Rob Humphreys and detailed styling and engineering developed by the Oyster Design Team, the new Oyster 825 is sure to attract acclaim wherever she goes.

With nearly 15% more internal volume than her predecessor - the highly successful Oyster 82 (of which 17 have been built since 2002) - the Oyster Design Team has used this extra space to maximize the en-suite owner and guest accommodation in the three double cabins aft, whilst providing a clear separation of space for up to four professional crew to discreetly run the yacht and enable them to provide a 'six star' service for the owner and guests. With her large, full width saloon, the feeling of light and space below decks is further enhanced by the state-of the-art, side-sliding glass companionway. Developing the latest interior styling now seen on the Oyster 625, 725 and 885, and building on the engineering knowledge gained from the Oyster Group's successful development of the Oyster Superyachts, the new Oyster 825 provides 'Superyacht experience' in levels of style and comfort for the owner who still enjoys sailing the yacht himself with family and friends, yet wants the balance of supporting his sailing with professional crew. A high-volume vessel with several exceptional customizations, iSNL accommodates 8 guests across three VIP staterooms that can adapt to 4 guests cabins to meet the demanding requirements of multiple use. She can easily be handled by a crew of two when running privately. 

She is the only Oyster 825 with a painted hull and built with major layout changes included in the design from the outset, including mirroring the layout of the entire interior accommodation forward of the mast to give a better flow and feel to the interior, larger seating area, captain’s service area and forward-facing chart table.

• 8 to 10 guest berths (pullman berth on inboard bulkheads in guest cabins), and 2 crew berths, in five cabins excluding the saloon.
• All berths, including doubles, are counted as sea berths with doubles having split mattresses to allow a central lee-cloth to provide the necessary support and separation.

High-level float switch with audible alarm at pedestal to indicate primary bilge pump not coping or failed. Different sound to existing alarms. Bilge alarm fitted in each watertight compartment. Domestic (9V battery) type smoke alarm for engine room lobby, crew mess and aft passageway.

DECK ACCESS

Folding stainless steel side boarding ladders that integrate into the guardrail. Stainless steel boarding ladder at transom. Stainless steel stern pushpit with gate for boarding. Timber access steps from crew cabin to deck.

Stainless steps from sail locker to foredeck. Removable stainless steps from aft cabin deck hatch. Stainless steel bathing ladder. Besenzoni hydraulic passerelle in transom. Passarelle serviced (May 2022).

9 x GRP framed Solimar glazed flush accommodation deck hatches. 2 x GRP Solimar framed teak flush storage area deck hatches (sail locker/lazarette). 2 x Lewmar Size 44 flush escape hatches to port and starboard aft guest cabins, below cockpit seats.

Custom acrylic main companionway powered sliding hatch system. Short washboard to create a 300mm high sill for storm conditions (MCA compliant).

Fold-down companionway sprayhood in ‘Charcoal’ Weathermax 80 with leather covered stainless steel grab rail at aft end. Hood incorporates see-through panels in its forward portion and is sized to give protection to the companionway and forward occupants of the cockpit. Biminis in ‘Charcoal’ Weathermax 80 fabric. One to cover the main guest cockpit and one over helm positions. Zip-on boom awning, bow awning and bathing platform awnings, all in Weathermax 80.

Covers for cockpit table, pedestals, steering wheels, Sailmon, winches and all exterior seating in ‘Charcoal’ Weathermax 80 fabric. Cockpit, helm and pushpit seat cushions in grey Silvertex Vogue.

DECK PLUMBING

Hot and cold freshwater deck shower located in a locker at the transom bathing area. Freshwater outlet at transom. Freshwater inlet at transom to connect boat system to mains water, via filters and water softener installed May 2022. Freshwater and Saltwater outlet in anchor locker at the bow, including hose for freshwater wash down. High-pressure mast wash pump configuration installed April 2021. Freshwater outlet in the cockpit.

Walk-through teak-laid cockpit over 3m long. Excellent access from the companionway to the helm positions and side decks. Stainless steel drinks holders to pedestals and at helm seats.

COCKPIT TABLE

To port is a high-gloss Teak table, within which is a cockpit drinks fridge accessed from starboard side. Custom cockpit rubbish bins added November 2020, with gloss teak lids to match table.

Lewmar Mamba rod and gearbox system. Twin GRP steering pedestals. Twin carbon wheels 1.2m diameter.

Stainless steel pulpit and pushpit with gate for boarding. Teak slatted seats to pushpit port and starboard with stowage for two (hydrostatic release) liferafts beneath the seats.

Custom removable bow seat mounted on bowsprit; teak slatted with guardwires.

Stainless steel stemhead fitting with twin rollers, one roller designed to stow a 81kg CQR anchor. Stainless steel grabrails on deck saloon cabin top. Pair of stainless steel and GRP upholstered backrests fitted at the helm positions. 5 pairs of stainless steel ‘pop-up’ mooring cleats with chafe strips to deck edges. Pair of aft stainless steel fairleads near transom bulwark. Port and starboard bulwark tread plates at side gateways engraved with yacht’s name. Stainless steel halyard ‘parking’ rails on port and starboard next to mast. Forced air intakes to halyard bins either side of the mast. Stainless halyard rail in Sail locker. Oyster 825 sailing yacht sinks off of Spain

What caused a nearly new Oyster  sailing yacht, Polina Star III , to sink in early July off the coast of Spain? According to UK builder Oyster Marine, the sinking – the first in the company’s 42-year history – might have been caused by the yacht hitting an underwater object the day prior.

A 27.43 metre version of the Oyster 825 series, Polina Star III was launched in May 2014. Oyster Marine reports that the yacht “suffered a serious incident which compromised the moulded hull” on July 3 and sunk the following day on July 4. There were five crew members on board who were rescued by the Spanish Coast Guard.

Oyster is now conducting an investigation to find the cause of the sinking of Polina Star III . Divers inspecting the hull of Polina Star III where she rests on the seabed have reported back findings that suggest the possibility of previous damage.

“The possibility of impact with an underwater object propagating structural failure has not been ruled out,” says David Tydeman, CEO of Oyster Marine. “Recovery of the vessel will facilitate further detailed investigation.”

As was seen with the loss of sailing yacht Cheeki Rafiki , previous structural damage that goes unchecked can lead to sinking.

Polina Star III is an extended Oyster 825, a 27 metre version of the standard 25 metre yacht. The design incorporates an internal structure not seen in any other Oyster yacht. In his statement, David Tydeman says that an independent expert in composite construction has analysed the design of the yacht and verified she has the appropriate safety factors.

Oyster is also investigating the structures and mouldings of the other Oyster 825 yachts, of which two are launched and three in build, but Tydeman says, “Oyster has no reason to believe that any other yachts in the range are in any way at risk.”

“The safety and integrity of all Oyster Yachts is our absolute priority at all times,” says David Tydeman. “We will do everything possible to establish the cause of this unfortunate loss. All Oyster owners can be sure that the company is fully committed to building the finest luxury yachts which are, above all, totally seaworthy in all conditions.”
