Riding when crowds are lower, especially during mealtimes and the Electrical Water Pageant, can also mean shorter wait times. Avoid exiting immediately after a performance of The Hall of Presidents, when crowds flood the area.
History and Design
The Liberty Square Riverboat has a long history, dating back to Walt Disney’s original vision for Disneyland . Walt incorporated a riverboat attraction into his plans for Disneyland, using the iconic Mark Twain Riverboat on the Rivers of America as inspiration. When designing Magic Kingdom, Imagineers brought a similar riverboat to life on the park’s Rivers of America. The original Liberty Square riverboat was named the Admiral Joe Fowler. It operated for over 7 years before being damaged beyond repair.
The Admiral Joe Fowler was replaced in 1973 by the boat currently in operation – the Richard F. Irvine. After an extensive refurbishment in 1996, the Richard F. Irvine was renamed the Liberty Belle. The Liberty Belle is an exact replica of a 19th century paddle wheel riverboat. It stands 47 feet tall and weighs 100 tons. The boat has a maximum capacity of 450 guests over three levels. The Liberty Belle is powered by a working steam engine that rotates the rear paddle wheel to propel the boat during its journey. While the steam engine is fully functioning, the boat does follow an underwater track for guidance and safety.
Ride Experience
The Liberty Square Riverboat ride experience begins at the loading dock in Liberty Square. Guests board the boat from the middle, second deck, while ramp access for wheelchairs and ECVs is offered on the first deck. As the boat departs, guests are welcomed aboard by a pre-recorded spiel from Captain Horace Bixby. He introduces the pilot guiding this journey – none other than Samuel Clemens, better known by his pen name Mark Twain.
Twain shares memories of his many adventures traveling along the Mississippi River as the Liberty Belle passes by Frontierland and approaches Tom Sawyer Island. Along the way, riders can spot wildlife, mining structures, and old settlements along the shores. The narration highlights various sights along the river, including abandoned mines at Cutthroat Canyon and Fort Langhorn on Tom Sawyer Island.
As the boat completes its loop around the island, the majestic facade of The Haunted Mansion comes into view. Twain remarks on legends of the Haunted Mansion being built on sacred native burial grounds as the Liberty Belle returns to dock in Liberty Square, concluding the 12-minute journey. Guests exit the boat on the first deck and can browse photos taken during the ride that are available for purchase.
In addition to its regular operation, the Liberty Square Riverboat offers special cruises for certain hard ticket events and holidays throughout the year. During Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, the Liberty Belle is decorated with Halloween theming. The boat hosts Happy HalloWishes Dessert Parties that coincide with the special Halloween fireworks show. Guests are served desserts while enjoying premium views of the fireworks bursting over Cinderella Castle. For the holidays, the Liberty Belle gets a festive Christmas overlay and operates during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. It offers Holiday Wishes Dessert Parties to pair with the Christmas fireworks spectacular.
Tomorrowland Speedway Ride Review
The Liberty Square Riverboat also occasionally has evening cruises during Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular fireworks with unique viewing opportunities for Star Wars fans. Outside the special events, guests might catch the Liberty Belle testing its steam whistle after refurbishments and at other random times. When the steam whistle blows, it makes for an unforgettable part of the Liberty Square atmosphere. So beyond its regular operation, the Liberty Belle delivers even more magic through special holiday cruises and one-of-a-kind experiences like the steam whistle that delight guests.
- Arrive to board the Liberty Belle 5–10 minutes before the scheduled departure time printed on the sign at the entrance. This will ensure you get a spot and don’t have to wait for the next boat.
- The top deck offers the best views but can get very hot in the sun. Seek shade underneath the overhangs on the lower decks if needed.
- Bring your camera or phone to snap photos of unique magic kingdom views along the river.
- Keep an eye out for live entertainment along the shores of Frontierland and special decorations during holidays.
- Stop by the Liberty Square Riverboat sign near the exit after disembarking to browse onboard photos available for purchase.
- There are no restrooms on the boat, so make sure and use the bathroom before riding
Comparison to Other Disney Riverboat Rides
The Liberty Square Riverboat ride bears many similarities to riverboat attractions across Disney theme parks worldwide. Each boat offers a scenic tour of an artificial river with references to Mark Twain and American history. However , there are some variations in narration, sights along the river, and overall ride experience between the different versions. Here’s how Walt Disney World’s Liberty Belle compares to riverboats at other Disney Parks:
Disneyland – The Mark Twain Riverboat is a nearly identical ride experience to the Liberty Belle, complete with Twain narration and a relaxing voyage around Tom Sawyer Island and Frontierland. One key difference is Disneyland’s Columbia Sailing Ship that also navigates the river.
Tokyo Disneyland – The Western River Railroad at Tokyo Disneyland features similar sights along the Rivers of America but follows a different path around the entire Critter Country area.
Hong Kong Disneyland – Mystic Manor is visible from Hong Kong Disneyland’s Jungle River Cruise, offering a view of one of the park’s most popular attractions during the ride.
Shanghai Disneyland – The Voyage to the Crystal Grotto winds through rocky caves with dazzling effects as part of its tour around Fantasyland, a very different sight from Liberty Square and Frontierland.
Disneyland Paris – No riverboat ride exists at Disneyland Paris. Guests can walk through a full-scale replica of a frontier steamboat outside the Disneyland Railroad station.
The Liberty Square Riverboat continues to be a beloved classic, inviting guests of all ages to embark on a peaceful cruise back in time. For over 50 years, across Disney theme parks worldwide, these iconic boats offer an opportunity to recharge and appreciate the magic of Disney from a new perspective. A ride aboard the Liberty Belle showcases Disney’s knack for blending nostalgia, nature, and storytelling into an attraction experience that stands the test of time. So be sure to hop aboard for a relaxing voyage across the Rivers of America on your next visit to the Magic Kingdom!

Liberty Square Riverboat Fun Facts
Did you know.
- Liberty Square Riverboat is a steam-powered paddle wheeler, a replica of a vessel that one may have seen sailing the Mississippi River during the 19 th century. Liberty Square Riverboat does not, however, operate solely on steam power; it is aided by a submerged rail.
- The vessel’s official name is Liberty Belle , a moniker it has held since 1996. From 1973 to 1996, the riverboat was entitled Richard F. Irvine , after a Disney executive.
- The Liberty Square Riverboat embarked on its first voyage on October 2, 1971, one day after the Magic Kingdom opened. Titled Admiral Joe Fowler , after a retired navy admiral who was instrumental in the building of both Disneyland Park and the Magic Kingdom, this vessel was inadvertently destroyed during a 1980 refurbishment. Richard F. Irvine / Liberty Belle has served as the Magic Kingdom’s sole paddle wheeler since 1980.
- Liberty Square Riverboat has four decks from which guests can view the lush wilderness of Tom Sawyer Island , as well as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad , and Haunted Mansion .
- A voice actor portraying Mark Twain narrates the voyage.
- Guests are often, though not always, upon request allowed in the Pilothouse , where they can interact with the captain and “steer the ship” with the big wheel—the boat is guided on rail, so there’s no danger here.
- Liberty Square Riverboat is currently the only boat to sail the Rivers of America. Previously, “Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes” operated from opening day, October 1, 1971, until 1994; and “Mike Fink Keel Boats” sailed from opening day through April 29, 2001.
- Liberty Square Riverboat’s counterpart at Disneyland is Mark Twain Riverboat . Disneyland also offers two seasonal vessel experiences: “Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes” and “Sailing Ship Columbia ,” a replica of Columbia Rediviva , an 18 th -century merchant ship.

7 totally cool things about liberty square riverboat at walt disney world.
Posted by: Jason Dick April 17, 2018
Walt Disney World knows how to create nostalgia. And a great example of this is the Liberty Square Riverboat in Disney’s Magic Kingdom. It’s a beautiful, colonial, steam-powered riverboat, and it’ll instantly transport you to a simpler time, as you cruise along the Rivers of America. Here are our favorite things about the Liberty Square Riverboat.
7. Come One, Come All
We love the exclusivity of the Liberty Square Riverboat! Because it’s a slow-moving boat ride, there are no height or age restrictions, and it’s a family-friendly attraction. It might not keep thrill-seekers entertained, but we think it’s a brilliant way to take a break from the chaos of a busy day in the parks. Wheelchairs and ECVs can board the boat, and there is even sign language interpretation offered at certain times of the week.
6. Fun Facts
Spoilers ahead! While the attraction is named the Liberty Square Riverboat, the vessel itself is called the Liberty Belle. Your voyage will last around 20 minutes, and it will take you through the Rivers of America. For those who are curious, the river is only about 6 feet deep, and the riverboat is actually on a track in the water, much like the boats on Jungle Cruise! The water itself is dyed green, so that guests won’t be able to see the track, and have the magic ruined.
5. Unparalleled Views
Adventurers who want to explore Tom Sawyer Island can take the log raft over to the island and wander around to their hearts’ content. But if you’re looking for the best views of Tom Sawyer Island, then you’ll want to ride the Liberty Belle! The riverboat takes you around the entirety of Tom Sawyer Island, and along the way, you’ll also see unique views of several key Magic Kingdom attractions, including Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain and Haunted Mansion.
4. Delightful Decks
While you enjoy your journey on the Liberty Belle, you can choose from 4 decks to sit or stroll or explore. The top deck, or pilothouse, contains the wheelhouse and Captain’s quarters. Wander along the Promenade Deck to view photos and maps from a by-gone era, or enjoy the warm Floridian sun on the Sun Deck. Of course, the real action is on the Main Deck, where you’ll find the workings of the boat itself, including the pistons that run the paddlewheel, and the boiler. There’s a lot to explore on your river cruise!
3. Family of Riverboats
The Liberty Belle is in good company! A riverboat named the Mark Twain debuted in Disneyland when it opened in 1955, and it was the first riverboat that had been build in the country in half a century. Guests can now also enjoy riverboat attractions at Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris. WDW originally had two riverboats, the Admiral Joe Fowler and the Richard F. Irvine; the latter changed its name to the Liberty Belle in the 1990s, and is now the sole riverboat in the Magic Kingdom.
2. Working Reproduction
History buffs and boat fans alike will enjoy learning about the Liberty Belle. It’s almost 50 feet tall, with some beautifully crafted woodwork. It’s actually a faithful replica of the types of boats that used to carry passengers up and down the Mississippi River, which means it’s a unique glimpse into the past. How does it work? The Liberty Belle’s steam engine turns water into steam, and it’s that steam that provides the power to turn the paddlewheel, which drives the boat.
1. Famous Voice
Your voyage on the Liberty Belle is narrated by several characters, and Disney fans might recognize one of the recorded voices: it’s none other than Thurl Ravenscroft, the famous voice behind Tony the Tiger (of Frosted Flakes fame). Thurl provided the speaking and singing voices for many iconic Disney rides – you’ve probably heard his voice many times, even if you didn’t realize it! He voiced the lead bust in Haunted Mansion, various voices in the Enchanted Tiki Room, Buff in the Country Bear Jamboree, and multiple pirates in Pirates of the Caribbean!

Liberty Square (Haunted Mansion, Liberty Square Riverboat, Hall of Presidents)
Hear ye! Hear ye!
It is time to explore Liberty Square, which you can find in Magic Kingdom situated between Frontierland and Fantasyland .
Liberty Square is home to an opening-day attraction — Haunted Mansion. Plus, this is the land to visit if you want to hear (or take a nap while) all of the presidents’ of the United States speak, ride the Liberty Belle, or get a waffle covered in fresh fruit and chocolate-hazelnut spread.
You can also see a replica of the Liberty Bell.
Warning : make sure you don’t step in the sewage. Ok, it’s not real sewage, but if you look down while you’re walking in Liberty Square you’ll see a brown cement river.
This represents back during colonial times when they would dump buckets of sewage in the streets due to indoor plumbing not existing yet. Disney really nails it with all of the details, don’t they?
Now that you know that fun fact, here’s everything you need to know about Liberty Square!

Liberty Hill wastewater plant ordered to lower level of phosphorus discharged into river
State environmental officials ordered the Liberty Hill Wastewater Treatment Plant to lower the amount of phosphorus it discharges into the San Gabriel River.
The decision Thursday came years after residents along the river launched a legal fight, saying the phosphorus dumped into the river from the plant is causing excessive algae growth. They said the algae violated state water quality standards by preventing recreational uses of the river such as fishing and swimming.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's three commissioners voted Thursday to lower the phosphorus limit that the Liberty Hill Wastewater Treatment Plant discharges into the river from the current level of 0.15 milligrams per liter to 0.02 milligrams per liter.
The city of Liberty Hill will review the ruling with its attorneys and "will likely appeal this horrendous decision," said one of its lawyers, Rudy Metayer.
More: Downstream residents fighting Liberty Hill wastewater treatment plant over algae
"We are absolutely shocked and dismayed that the TCEQ has decided to blow up its own rules and procedures, not follow the facts, data and science to demand an unprecedented standard that has no basis in reality," said Metayer. "Every Texas city is now on notice that even if it follows the rules governing wastewater management, you can still be found to be wrong and punished."
Lauren Ice, the attorney for Stephanie Ryder Morris, one of the residents, said she was pleased with the order.
"The decision feels like a vindication on behalf of the science and on behalf of the downstream neighbors," she said. "The limit set today of 0.02 milligrams per liter total phosphorus is an enormous step in the right direction, and we are prepared to see that the city complies with this new standard."
The residents had asked that the limit be placed even lower at 0.015 milligrams per liter based on testimony from scientists they had hired. One of the homeowners who lives by the river, Dave Bunnell, said the commissioners' decision on Thursday was what he expected.
"The key question going forward is if the TCEQ is going to enforce these regulations. … It's seven times less than what is currently allowed," he said.
More: Another wastewater spill hits river
Another one of the city's lawyers, Natasha Martin, had argued at the TCEQ meeting Thursday before the decision that the requested phosphorus limit would be the lowest set in the state for wastewater treatment plants. She also said the limit requested was too low for any acceptable laboratories approved by the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program to measure.
Ice told commissioners the city could comply with the proposed limit of 0.015 milligrams per liter limit on phosphorus by trucking some of its treated wastewater away and reusing it for irrigation.
Jon Niermann, chairman of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, said the city of Liberty Hill had not proved that the phosphorus limit it had requested of 0.15 milligrams per liter would protect the water quality of the river. "The evidence supports a much lower limit," he said.
Before Thursday's meeting, there were two hearings with evidence presented by both sides to administrative law judges from the State Office of Administrative Hearings. The state office resolves disputes between Texas agencies, other governmental entities and citizens. The judges issued a proposal after the hearings that included lowering the level of phosphorus the treatment plant could dump into the river.
Some of the scientists who had spoken at the hearings said that a 0.02 milligrams per liter limit on phosphorus would curb the excessive growth of algae and allow recreational uses of the river, Niermann said Thursday.
He said he knew it would be challenging for the city of Liberty Hill to reach the new limit set on phosphorus by TCEQ commissioners.
"The city is very likely to have significant periods of noncompliance," he said. "We expect the city to pursue compliance with all due speed and the TCEQ staff is here to assist."
The Liberty Hill Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility is about 8,800 feet southeast of the intersection of Texas 29 and U.S. 183 in Williamson County. Liberty Hill is one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas. Its population has jumped from 967 in 2010 to 9,099 in 2022, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
State law allows treatment plants to dump treated wastewater into rivers. The fight about the phosphorus level in the South San Gabriel River began after the Liberty Hill plant submitted a renewal application to the TCEQ in 2018. The application sought to continue dumping treated wastewater in the river at a daily average flow not to exceed 2 million gallons in the interim phase and a daily average flow not to exceed 4 million gallons in the final phase.
The proposed renewal permit would have allowed the phosphorus to remain at the current level of 0.15 milligrams per liter. Phosphorus is produced by several sources in the wastewater the plant treats, including human waste.
Morris, who lives in Leander near the outfall of the treatment plant and has been fighting for years against degradation of the river, filed a request for a contested case hearing after a public hearing in 2020 about the proposed renewal permit. Bunnell and a group of his neighbors who entered the fight after Morris also filed a request for a hearing about their permit objections.
The Save Barton Creek Association got involved in the case by helping raise $25,000 to help Morris pay for previous testimony from scientists, the group's advocacy director, Brian Zabcik, said Thursday. He said the decision made by commissioners on Thursday was "the best practical outcome that could have happened." He said the TCEQ can only accept testing results from laboratories approved by the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program, and those labs cannot measure limits of phosphorus lower than 0.02 milligrams per liter.
Morris said she was grateful for the commissioners' decision. "The city has had ample notice and more than 10 years to deal with this problem," Morris said. "We now expect real action from the city to return the river to its previous glory so it is healthy again for the community who depend on it."
Andrew Engelke, another Williamson County resident who lives along the South San Gabriel River, said he didn't agree with the commissioners' decision.
"Right now, my concern is what happens if they move to a compliance of 0.02 (milligrams per liter) and two years down the road we still have a lot of algae," he said. "What's our recourse? Are we back at square one?"

The ultimate guide to historic St Petersburg

St Petersburg was founded by Peter the Great just over 300 years ago. Although the capital moved to Moscow after the 1917 February Revolution, St Petersburg is still known as the ‘northern’ or ‘cultural’ capital of Russia. Explore the art, architecture, and history of Russia's grand and second largest city.
On the map, St Petersburg fits into a triangle, its lines drawn along the Gulf of Finland, the Obvodny Canal and the Neva River; the river divides the city into two approximately equal parts. To the south of the Neva is the center of contemporary St Petersburg, to the north – Vasilievsky Island and Petrogradka.
City of Squares
St Petersburg is a city of squares. At the very heart of the city is Palace Square lined by the Winter Palace on one side and the former General Staff Headquarters on the other. Today they’re both part of the Hermitage Museum , with one of the best art collections in the world. The center of the square is occupied by the fifty meter-high Alexander Column , topped by an angel, symbolizing Russian victory over Napoleon in 1812.
Right next to Palace Square is the Admiralty , a former wharf-turned-naval headquarters. Admire the Admiralty’s famous spire topped with a golden ship – one of the city’s symbols. Stop at nearby coffee shop Bonch for a quick bite. Apart from excellent coffee, Bonch offers European-style food, and its floor-to-ceiling windows are great for people watching.
Head down Bolshaya Morskaya Street to St Isaac's Square and stand in the shadow of St Isaac’s Cathedral (the largest in the city), view the statue of Emperor Nicholas I, and spot luxury hotels Astoria and Angleterre and the huge Mariinsky Palace . The palace is located across the Blue Bridge – the widest in the city (almost 100 metres). Check out the impressive neoclassical interior and climb to the top of its enormous dome for panoramic views of the city.
There are plenty of options to eat on the square, including Schastye (Happiness), which offers a mix of Russian and European classics and Obshchestvo Chistikh Tarelok ( Clean Plates Society ) with lots of vegetarian dishes and great cocktails.
Between the cathedral and the Neva river embankment is the Senate Square , where the Decembrist Uprising took place in 1825. Today the main attraction is the Bronze Horseman , depicting Peter the Great himself, a monument immortalized in the eponymous poem by Russia’s best known poet, Alexander Pushkin. The square is named after the former Senate building, which faces the Horseman. Right next to it is the Most Holy Synod and the Manege Central Exhibition Hall , which hosts regular contemporary art exhibitions.
Nevsky Prospekt
19th century writer Nikolai Gogol described Nevsky Prospekt as 'Petersburg's universal channel of communication' in a story named after the city’s main thoroughfare. This definition is still true; Nevsky is the city’s busiest promenade, a showcase of the best that the former capital has to offer.
The buildings on Nevsky have been rebuilt many times – the most recent rebuild was during the reign of the last three tsars, from the 1860s to 1910s. The buildings, however, adhere to the same architectural principles developed by Carlo Rossi in the first half of the 19th century: monotonous lines of buildings of the same height occasionally broken up by waterways, squares or churches.
One such church is the Kazan Cathedral , surrounded by an imposing colonnade, designed to resemble St Peter’s Basilica in Rome. Built as a home for the especially revered icon, 'The Mother of God of Kazan', the Kazan Cathedral ironically became the Museum of Atheism during the Soviet times.
Across the street, on the corner of Nevsky Prospekt and Griboyedov Canal, you can see the Singer Building , built in the Russian art nouveau style and topped with a glass globe. Today it houses the largest bookstore in the city and cafe ' Singer ' on the second floor. Stop there for a cappuccino and incredible views of the Kazan Cathedral.
Further down the street is Bolshoy Gostiny Dvor , meaning ‘a large merchant’s court’. It’s the oldest shopping arcade in St Petersburg, which covers a whole block. Admire its architecture, but it's best to shop elsewhere. For example, stop at the Kupetz Eliseevs , located halfway between Griboyedov Canal and Fontanka River. Designed in Moderne style, this opulent food hall offers all kinds of delicacies. Alternatively, you can sip a glass of wine under a giant palm tree.
Another Nevsky highlight is the Anichkov Bridge over Fontanka River, designed by Peter Clodt. The four rearing horses symbolize the struggle between humanity and nature, but according to urban legend, if you look under one of the horse's tails you can see an image of a person that offended Clodt.
Nevsky Prospekt is not famous for good dining and drinking options, so after Anichkov Bridge, turn right to Ulitsa Rubinshteina, the main restaurant street of St Petersburg (or possibly the whole of Russia). Try Fartuk for burgers, falafel and various home-made food, as well as craft beer and cocktails; go to Bekitzer for Israeli street food and their famous vodka infusions and to the relatively new Iskra for pizza.
Vasilyevsky Island
Vasilyevsky Island, locally known simply as ‘Vaska’ is the largest island in St Petersburg. It’s here that Peter I actually intended to build his new capital. Dozens of canals were already dug when he changed his mind. The canals turned into linii (lines) and prospects – the major streets on the island.
Start your island exploration at Strelka (the Spit) – the easternmost tip of the island with the most landmarks. Check out the old Stock Exchange building behind the famous Rostral Columns that used to serve as navigational lamps in the 19th century.
Vasilyevsky Island is the neighborhood of ‘firsts’: first museum – Kunstkamera , where Peter the Great gathered various curiosities, the first university – Twelve Colleges complex, and the first stone building in the city – Menshikov Palace .
Further down the embankment is the Academy of Fine Arts with a small museum and two Egyptian sphinxes in front. Just around the corner is the walking street 6 i 7 Linii with wonderful baroque St Andrew’s Cathedral and plenty of places to eat, including an outpost of Na Parakh health food chain, where all the dishes are steam-cooked.
Take a taxi or a bus to the western side of Vaska to see Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art , which has a permanent collection of St Petersburg 20th- and 21st-century art, as well as regular exhibitions. The museum’s restaurant is also worth a visit.
Even further west is the newly opened Sevkabel Port , an abandoned ship-cable factory, which now hosts techno parties, flea markets and several restaurants. Stop in to check out Kuta Bar & Kitchen , with authentic Balinese cuisine and bar Machty , with a retro look and disco parties.
Petrogradka
The Petrograd Side, aka Petrogradka, is the oldest part of the city. Here, on Zayachy (Hare) Island Peter the Great founded Peter and Paul Fortress in 1703. Today the fortress is home to several museums, including a former prison and the beautiful baroque St Peter and Paul Cathedral , the site of the crypts of most of the Romanovs, a family of aristocrats that ruled Russia from 1613 to 1917, when the reigning Tsar Nicholas II abdicated the throne.
A small bridge leads from the fortress to the Petrograd Side proper, dominated by a beautiful sky blue mosque and Kshesinskaya Palace, which used to belong to a ballet dancer that was at one time Nicholas II's lover. It now houses the Museum of Political History . For lunch, go to Chekhov restaurant, the interior of which looks like a stage set for Anton Chekhov’s play. Try some traditional Russian dishes like borscht and pelmeni and don’t skip on the house-made beer and infusions.
Check out more moderne buildings on the neighbourhood's main avenue – Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt on your way to the Museum of Petersburg Avant-garde . This wooden cottage used to belong to Mikhail Matyushin, a painter, composer and one of the leading figures in the turn of the century avant-garde movement.
Spend a perfect Petrogradka evening at the rooftop bar Hi-Hat , overlooking the Botanical Garden. Down a pint of beer or a cocktail while watching the sunset and listening to some live music or a DJ set.

Cyberpunk 2077 players finally settle the biggest choice in phantom liberty.
Cyberpunk 2077's players took sides in a recent Reddit poll, determining which of Phantom Liberty's endings they felt was the best.
- Players faced tough choices between helping Reed or Songbird in Phantom Liberty, leading to diverse player decisions and thought-provoking outcomes.
- Most players in a recent poll chose to betray Reed and free Songbird, showcasing the emotional complexity and moral dilemmas in Cyberpunk 2077.
- CD Projekt Red's storytelling in the game successfully challenges players to question their decisions and live with the consequences long after the game ends.
Cyberpunk 2077 , as with many RPGs, is all about the choices players make and their consequences. This continued through its expansion, Phantom Liberty , where players had to make a major decision about whether to side with the Federal Intelligence Agency (F.I.A.)'s sleeper agent, Solomon Reed, or his former netrunner protégé, Song So Mi (aka. Songbird) who seeks to be freed from the NUSA's clutches after being used to tap into the Blackwall for President Myers' personal needs.
[Warning: This article contains spoilers for Cyberpunk 2077 ]
A recent poll on the LowSodiumCyberpunk subreddit showed that the majority of people who took part betrayed Reed and freed Songbird during Phantom Liberty , with them explaining why in the comments. Out of 169 total votes, 108 players opted to betray Reed and free Songbird , and 15 opted to turn on both, betraying Reed while also turning in Songbird, with comments explaining that Reed killing two people to infiltrate a base was a moment they lost trust in him, and others pointing out that Songbird was using V for her own gain as well. 40 players chose to betray Songbird, with 19 killing her, and 21 capturing her shortly after. Six players made the interesting choice to ignore the paid expansion story entirely, leaving President Myers to die in its opening moments and leave Dogtown under the rule of Kurt Hansen.
Is It Better To Help Reed Or Songbird In Phantom Liberty?
Phantom liberty sets up compelling reasons to help both sides.
Phantom Liberty sets up compelling reasons to side with both Reed and Songbird before players must make this decision for the first time in the quest " Firestarter " when infiltrating Kurt Hansen's base of operations. From here, if players help Songbird escape, Reed will call them to let them know the F.I.A. is hunting them, and if players betray Songbird, they assist Reed in trying to track her down.
Both options let players explore more about the characters' past and motives and force them to question their actions through to the end of the DLC, with there being further choices allowing them to change their minds depending on the new information they're uncovering (for example, learning Songbird's backstory through flashbacks if they chose to side with Reed during Firestarter ). Helping Reed may help unlock a new ending for V at the end of Cyberpunk 2077 's main campaign, but arguably, while it feels bad to kill him to free Songbird as he clearly cared for her but was honor-bound to follow the NUSA government's orders, granting Songbird freedom rather than returning her to be used by Myers feels like the better choice .
While most players in the poll seemed to come to this same conclusion, it's a testament to CD Projekt Red's storytelling that players can find themselves second-guessing their decisions, as nothing feels clean-cut in the world of Cyberpunk 2077 . Regardless of whether players chose to help Reed or Songbird, the weight of those decisions lingers long after.

History of Canals and Neva River in St Petersburg, Russia
St Petersburg is situated on the Neva Rive r which is the main waterway in the city. As a result of the Northern War between Russia and Sweden the Valley of the Neva River became a part of the Russian Empire. In 1703 the city of St Petersburg was founded in the mouth of the Neva River by Peter the Great.
During Peter’s reign, there were no bridges over the Neva River. The Emperor wanted the people of St Petersburg to share his passion for sailing so riverboats were the common transport. Later there were floating bridges over Neva River. Only in the mid - 19 th century they were finally replaced with permanent bridges made of metal. Each of St Petersburg’s bridges has its own distinctive structure and appearance. They can be plain and elegant, large and small, subtle and imposing. Their decorative iron railings coupled with granite embankments give the face of the city a charming look.
There are 332 bridges stretching St Petersburg waterways including 21 drawbridges.
The earliest bridges were known by the bright colors in which they were painted: “blue”, “green”, and “red.
