When planning a charter, it's important to know what type of boat you want. There are many types of boats available, so it's important to choose the right one for your needs. We offer a variety of vessels, ranging from small sailboats to large cruise ships. Our staff members will help you find the perfect yacht for your event. When working with our staff member via telephone or email, they will line you up with the best possible luxury vessel for the best possible value.  Once you are in agreement, our team will send you a paypal request for a deposit.  The request will outline all of the different details of your trip or event.  Once the deposit is paid, the vessel is held for your important event duration.  Depending on your specific requirements, the remainder is usually due at the time of your charter unless there are special requirements which may require the remainder of the due amount several days before the charter.

The wet winter season runs from October through March, but does present some opportunities for anglers who participate in the winter salmon season (blackmouth) from January to the end of March.

‘Locking Through’ the Ballard Locks

Chittenden) Locks are a popular Seattle attraction and a historic site operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that connect Salmon Bay to Shilshole Bay. As one of the busiest locking systems in the U.S., both the large and small lock chambers are open 24/7, and during the peak summer season can expect to be packed full of boaters—from sailors to powerboaters, large tug boats, and even kayaks.

Pro Tip : Keep an eye on the water levels, as the water can drop dramatically—almost three stories—at low tide. Likewise, the small lock chamber (100ft long and 26ft wide) is the easiest area to navigate, as you can tie up to the side walls to make your pass through.

The center of the lake happens to be a busy seaplane takeoff and landing zone throughout the summer months, so be conscious of the zoned buoys and flashing lights. Boaters can also enjoy great views of the Space Needle, while history buffs can dock up to visit the Museum of History and Industry or the Center for Wooden Boats—both located in the southern end of the lake.

Located between Seattle and Bellevue, Lake Washington is the second largest natural lake in the state which connects to Puget Sound through Lake Union. The Pacific Northwest is a region in western North America bounded by the Pacific Ocean to the west and, loosely, by the Rocky Mountains on the east. Though no universally agreed upon boundary exists, a common conception includes the U.S. states of Oregon, Washington, and the Canadian province of British Columbia. Broader conceptions reach north into Alaska and Yukon, south into the coastal and mountainous regions of Northern California, and east into Idaho and western Montana, and western Wyoming to the Continental Divide. Narrower conceptions may be limited to the Northwestern U.S. or to the coastal areas west of the Cascade and Coast mountains.  The Northwest Coast is the coastal regions of the Pacific Northwest and the Northwest Plateau (also commonly known as "The Interior" in British Columbia and the Inland Empire in the United States) is the inland regions. A yacht charter vacation in this region usually includes the areas surrounding the Puget Sound, the second largest estuary in the USA with over 2300 miles of coastline and the San Juan Islands.

Montlake Cut:  The Montlake Cut is the easternmost section of the Lake Washington Ship Canal, which passes through the city of Seattle, linking Lake Washington to Puget Sound. It is approximately 2,500 feet (760 m) long and 350 feet (110 m) wide. The center channel is 100 feet (30 m) wide and 30 feet (9.1 m) deep. The path along the cut was designated a National Recreation Trail as Montlake Cut National Waterside in 1971.[1]

The Cut provides a connection between Union Bay, part of Lake Washington, to the east and Portage Bay, an arm of Lake Union, to the west. It is spanned by the Montlake Bridge, a bascule drawbridge carrying Montlake Boulevard (State Route 513). Most of the land on the north shore of the Cut is occupied by the University of Washington, its medical school to the west and its stadium parking lot to the east; residences and a recreational trail occupy the south bank, which is part of the Montlake neighborhood. It is the site of the annual Windermere Cup crew regatta and the Seattle Yacht Club's Opening Day Boat Parade, both of which take place on the first Saturday in May. Puget Sound Boat Rental:  The Puget Sound region is home to the majority of Washington State citizens who live in the bustling cities and suburbs that extend north to south from Stanwood to Olympia. Most Puget Sound communities lie on either side of the north-south Interstate 5 corridor that serves as the major traffic thoroughfare of the state.

Puget Sound itself is a body of water lying east of Admiralty Inlet, through which ocean waters reach inland some 50 miles from the Pacific Coast to provide all-weather ports for ocean-going ships at Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia. The waterway is a complex and intricate system of channels, inlets, estuaries, embayments and islands.

Ballard Locks:   Tourists and locals enjoy watching the parade of yachts, sailboats, motorboats, barges and tugs passing through as the locks' water levels are adjusted to allow for safe passage between the salt water and the fresh water of the ship canal. Tillicum Village:  Tillicum Village is a Puget Sound area visitor attraction located on Blake Island just off the shore of Seattle, WA. It is believed that this attraction dates to the time period immediately preceding the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. Madison Park:  Madison Park is a neighborhood in east central Seattle, Washington, USA, named after the city park at the foot of E. Madison Street on the Lake Washington shore Estates on Mercer Island:  Mercer Island Estates is the largest South End neighborhood located just south of the QFC shopping center and Mercer Island Country Club. This planned community was built in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and includes homes in a variety of styles, including mid-century modern, traditional, and Northwest contemporary. With wide streets and plenty of cul-de-sacs, this neighborhood is popular with families, who also enjoy Wildwood Park and its proximity to the nearby South End shopping center.

Fremont Cut:  The Fremont Cut is a body of water that forms part of the Lake Washington Ship Canal, which passes through the U.S. city of Seattle and links Lake Washington to Puget Sound. The Fremont Cut connects Lake Union to the east with Salmon Bay to the west. It is 5,800 feet (1,800 m) long and 270 feet (82 m) wide. The center channel is 100 feet (30 m) wide and 30 feet (9.1 m) deep.

The Fremont Cut is spanned by the Fremont Bridge, a bascule drawbridge that connects the neighborhoods of Fremont and Queen Anne via Fremont Avenue North. A campus of Adobe Systems and the headquarters for Tableau Software are located at the north-eastern quadrant of this intersection of bridge and canal, and an office of Google is located on the north-western quadrant. Meydenbauer Bay in Bellevue:  The Bellevue Marina lies between the foot of 99th Avenue Northeast and 100th Avenue Southeast on the south side of downtown Bellevue. Depending upon the pier, the marina may be accessed from either street. From Interstate 405, take the NE 8th Street exit west. Turn left on Bellevue Way Southeast. Turn right on Main Street and proceed until reaching either the 100th Avenue Southeast or 99th Avenue Northeast intersections (Please note that Main Street turns into Lake Washington Boulevard Northeast at the 100th Avenue Southeast intersection.) Estate with Full T-Rex skeleton inside: Nathan Myhrvold became fascinated with dinosaurs and visited the filming of the “Jurassic Park” sequel in 1996 and met the film’s consultant and world-leading paleontologist, Jack Horner. Horner convinced Nathan to use some of his Microsoft multimillions to fund a dinosaur bone digging foundation. His foundation has recovered more tyrannosaurus rex skeletons than the total previously found by everyone else. He has given most of them to museums including the Smithsonian. In-side the big rounded windows of his living room he has one of the t-rex skeletons he helped dig up.

Bill Gates House: Originally purchasing the lakefront property for $2 million in 1988, Gates has done everything in his power to ensure his dream home doesn't have a negative impact on the environment. Built into a hill as part of its earth-sheltered design, Gates was concerned about potential runoff from the walls of the massive estate. To combat the problem, he collaborated with the two architectural firms who designed the home to create an artificial stream on the property to catch the runoff. And, in true Gates fashion, he took the design up a notch and has the stream stocked with salmon and trout giving even the wildlife a fisheye view of the most expensive home in America.

Unique Design and Characteristics

Camano's are very comfortable, smooth, economical cruisers due to their keelform hull design. Clifford cruises economically at 7-8 knots using  1.0-1.5 gph, 15 knots using 6.0 gph and will reach a top speed of 18 knots using approx. 10 gph delivered by a single Yanmar 217 hp turbocharged engine. The keelform hull adds stability and the added trim tabs keep the boat on plane at any speed. The interior is spacious, features full diesel heat for the cooler nights, has a full kitchen with microwave, two sleeping berths and impressive electronics at the helm including an autopilot and Fusion stereo with an ipod docking station.

Clifford has a spacious flybridge with a bimini cover and seating for three up front and several more in back. Full duplicate helm controls are available including a 12 inch chart GPS plotter, radar, bow thruster, stereo controls, engine monitor, auto-pilot, and two marine radios. Driving the boat from the flybridge is an experience you will enjoy. The breeze in your face, unobstructed views of the water and landmarks, and your ipod music in your ears all contribute to a unforgettable experience. The flybridge has ample light for gatherings after the sun goes down.

For 2019 we've added full color underwater LED lights. They can be configured for various modes: 1) set to any fixed color, 2) swept across a color spectrum, 3) set to strobe at a fixed rate or 4) set to strobe to music. Underwater lights attract zooplankton which in turn attract bait fish which in turn attract game fish. Some game fish are also directly attracted to the light. This process occurs in the daytime as well as at night. We find that green works best in Puget Sound, but it's fun to experiment with the different colors. You can download an app for an iphone to remotely control the lights and their modes from the flybridge.

Hundreds gather for the 103rd Opening Day of Boating Season in Seattle

SEATTLE - Hundreds of people spent the day along the shores of Portage Bay for the 103rd Opening Day of Seattle Boating Season . 

The historic tradition sailed through the Montlake Cut on Saturday, featuring 140 different boats, according to the Seattle Yacht Club.

"It is an opportunity to bring boaters and all of the Puget Sound together and also bring Seattle together," said Suzi Ward, member of the Seattle Yacht Club Board of Trustees.

Ward has also been a member of the private club since 1976. 

"My personal favorite, because I’m a yacht club member and a husky, is putting the band through and being able to provide students who may have never been on a boat before, an amazing day," Ward said. 

Todd Mcchesney is also a Seattle Yacht Club member. He’s been to Opening Day at least 20 times and came to Saturday’s event dressed as a pirate.

"The theme for the Opening Day parade this year is ‘Pirates and Pursuers’ so a lot of people are dressed up in pirate outfits," Mcchesney said. 

From the pirates to the yachts and even steamboats, people of all ages were all in the same boat when they gathered along Portage Bay to take in the sights and sounds. 

"It’s exciting," Patrick Brennan said. "Lots of action and lots of interesting boats going by."

He and Erica Speights are new to the Seattle area and were told they should check it out. 

"It’s one of the things you have to see when you’re in Seattle," Speights said. 

They brought their two-year-old son Ray who was all "a-boat" the event.

"He’s been saying boats, boats the whole way here," Speights said.

Before the parade was the Windermere Cup, where the University of Washington won eight of nine collegiate races. 

It's possible the event gained popularity this year after the release of the 2023 film "Boys in the Boat," which is based on UW's 1936 Olympic rowing team. Several actors from the movie were in Seattle ahead of the regatta.

UW’s student yacht club could end as university reimagines waterfront

The high cost of membership and boats probably makes joining a yacht club low on the priority list for many college students. But University of Washington students have been able to take part in one for just $39 per quarter and have full access to expensive boating equipment, lessons and time on the water.

That deal could come to an end as soon as this summer, as the university’s latest waterfront renovations threaten to shut down the 76-year-old Washington Yacht Club.

According to club members, students will lose out on a unique, affordable experience, but the university says it’s making the waterfront more equitable, opening it up to more students and a wider range of uses.

The Washington Yacht Club has been on the UW campus since 1948 and operates as a nonprofit as well as a registered student organization. The club’s goal, according to its website, is to “teach and promote sailing in a safe, inclusive, accessible, and affordable way.”

Currently, the club stores its fleet of 70 boats at the docks near Husky Stadium on the east side of campus, including dinghies, keelboats and high-performance catamarans.

The club will have to remove all of them by July 1 as the university tears down, rebuilds and repairs the docks.

“The main issue is that they are going to remove us either way, no matter what the footprint is or how that changes,” said Layla Airola, a UW junior and a spokesperson for the yacht club.

The docks, located in front of the Water Activities Center, need to be replaced as many of them “are nearing their end of life and have some safety hazards due to deterioration over time,” according to project documents.

Gregory Reinhardt, associate director for programming at UW’s recreation department, said the project will cost $2.54 million based on current projections.

Once the work is done by April 2025, the university won’t let the club return its fleet to the docks, save for maybe one boat, if it agrees to become a recreational club. Without a place to store its fleet, the yacht club will struggle to exist in its current form, members say.

Notably, the Washington Yacht Club says, the project will remove the dinghy docks, effectively shutting down the club’s small-boat sailing program, which often helps introduce beginners to the sport.

Nearby and also being renovated is the historic ASUW Shellhouse , the birthplace of the UW rowing program made famous by the book, and the recent George Clooney-directed movie, “The Boys in the Boat,” chronicling the team’s push to compete in the 1936 Olympics.

The 2023 film helped inspire the shell house project, funded by an $18.5 million fundraising campaign. When the remodel is finished in June 2026, the doors will roll open again, and the shell house will become a student and community gathering space.

Until recently, the student yacht club and other groups stored some equipment in the shell house. Airola argues the new vision for the shell house goes against the building’s origins.

“The ASUW Shellhouse’s history is centered around student athletics, yet students are being displaced to convert the building into an event venue,” Airola said in a text message.

The Washington Yacht Club isn’t the only student group displeased. Last month, the Associated Students of the University of Washington, the school’s student government, passed a resolution opposing the dock renovation as it would limit the yacht club’s ability to operate, according to The Daily, UW’s student newspaper .

The university contends the yacht club can continue to exist and has offered its members the option of becoming a recreational club. If they do, they’d be allowed to store one boat at the docks.

Reinhardt said none of the 38 active clubs the department oversees receives the same amenities the yacht club does. He said in an email the offer to make them a recreational club would make their experience “consistent with that of the other [registered student organizations] we support officially through Rec Club status.”

Reinhardt also suggested in an email to the yacht club the possibility that they could rent moorage nearby from Intercollegiate Athletics, though that option hadn’t been explored.

Airola said one boat is not enough to support the club’s approximately 300 student members. She acknowledged the club has more storage space than any other student recreation club on campus, but argues the scope of their organization warrants the space.

As the July deadline to remove their boats nears, Airola said the group is looking into other storage locations for its fleet. If the club can’t find a place, it may have to sell its boats.

“Our experience with the university has not been that they would like to keep us here,” said Renee Chien, a senior and the club’s rear commodore. “But we do offer a very unique experience for students.”

The average Joe celebrating a personal renaissance after, say, the end of a long-term relationship or when approaching a fresh decade might commemorate it with an ankle tattoo or a sports car. But if you're a billionaire, you may instead spend hundreds of millions on a yacht .

A few years after he and his wife divorced, Jeff Bezos shelled out on a megayacht. Last year, Bezos debuted the 127-meter vessel "Koru," a Māori symbol that signifies a fresh start — perhaps referring to that with his fiancée Lauren Sanchez.

Earlier this year, just before his 40th birthday, Mark Zuckerberg became the rumored owner of a yacht originally built for a Russian oligarch.

Superyachts have increasingly become ultrawealthy status symbols , providing highly secluded leisure and networking sites. They are — even more so than real estate — the single most expensive asset you can own.

"It's a bit of a celebration of your success in life, of wealth," Giovanna Vitelli, the chair of the Azimut Benetti Group, the world's biggest producer of superyachts, told Business Insider.

While many tech billionaires have bought yachts, the richest of the rich, like Bezos, Zuckerberg, and Oracle cofounder Larry Ellison, have gone bigger. Their boats are virtual palaces at sea, decked with amenities like gyms, spas, pools, nightclubs, and movie theaters.

A look at these megayachts — broadly defined as over 70 meters long, mostly custom-built, and often costing nine figures — offers a glimpse into how the .00001% lives. It's something few others will ever get to experience. Even chartering a yacht of this size for a week typically costs upwards of $1 million.

One major thing that hundreds of millions of dollars can buy is privacy. There are likely yachts that have not been publicly recorded or registered — for example, Evan Spiegel is rumored to own the 94-meter megayacht Bliss. In an industry ruled by discretion , deciphering who owns what is typically an exercise in stringing together many clues.

Here are the largest yachts owned by tech billionaires, listed in order of length.

Jeff Bezos: Koru and Abeona

Amazon founder Bezos' $500 million megayacht, the 127-meter Koru, made a splash last year as she crisscrossed the Mediterranean in her first summer at sea, with her 75-meter support vessel Abeona in tow.

The sailing yacht, which is hard to miss thanks to her massive size and unique design, was host to Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sanchez's famous friends . The couple held an engagement party on board, which reportedly drew guests including Bill Gates, Ari Emanuel, and Leonardo DiCaprio. Just a week later, they were seen on the streets of Dubrovnik, Croatia, with Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry, and Usher.

Even before her completion, Koru made headlines. She drew the ire of some Dutch people, who vowed to hurl eggs after she was announced a historic bridge in Rotterdam might be taken apart to allow the Oceanco boat through. Luckily, the shipyard made alternative plans, and an egg crisis was averted.

Among yacht world insiders , Koru is widely praised for her craftsmanship.

"I heard back in 2018 or something that somebody had ordered a classic sailing yacht," one superyacht expert told BI. "You order 125 meters, that's not really going to be classic. But it is. I think it's pretty cool."

Mark Zuckerberg: Launchpad

Earlier this year, the yacht world was rife with rumors that Zuckerberg purchased Launchpad, a 118-meter superyacht originally designed for a sanctioned Russian businessman.

The ship made her maiden voyage in March, going from Gibraltar to St. Maarten and mooring in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Little is known about her interior, but photos show a large swimming pool and helipad. Her price, too, has been kept under wraps but is said to be nine figures.

Eric Schmidt: Whisper

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt made waves last year when he agreed to buy the Alfa Nero , the yacht of a sanctioned Russian oligarch, for $67 million in an auction conducted by Antigua and Barbuda. But he backed out of the deal following legal issues over her true owner. He quietly purchased Kismet instead. The 95-meter-long Lürssen-built boat was formerly owned by the Jacksonville Jaguar's billionaire owner Shahid Khan . Schmidt renamed her Whisper.

The ship can fit 12 guests and a crew of 28, according to Moran Yacht & Ship, which oversaw her construction. She features a master deck with a private jacuzzi, full-service spa, lap pool, movie theater, and outdoor fireplace.

While her final sale price was not public, she was listed for 149 million euros (about $161 million at current exchange rates), and at a charity auction in January, one week aboard the ship went for $2.4 million, according to industry outlet Yacht Charter Fleet.

Barry Diller: Eos

Barry Diller , the chairman of digital media company IAC, co-owns the megayacht Eos with his wife, fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg , who is immortalized by a figurehead sculpture by Anh Duong.

One of the largest private sailing yachts in the world, the three-masted Lürssen schooner measures 93 meters long. She took three years to be built before being delivered to Diller in 2009, and since then, little has come to light about her interior and features.

The power couple has hosted many celebrities on the Eos, which spends her summers crisscrossing the Mediterranean and New Year ' s Eve in St. Barts . Over the years, guests have included Oprah Winfrey, Emma Thompson, Anderson Cooper, and Bezos, leading some to believe she provided inspiration for his Koru.

Jim Clark: Athena

Netscape founder Jim Clark purchased the 90-meter sailing yacht Athena in 2004.

"I could easily have built a 50- or 60-meter motor yacht that would have had the same space as Athena, but I was never really interested in building a motor yacht," he told Boat International in 2016. "To my eye, she's one of the most gorgeous large sailing yachts, maybe the most gorgeous large sailing yacht in the world."

Athena has room for 10 guests and 21 crewmembers, and the only change Clark says he'd make in her design is adding more space for his kids.

"If I was forced to change something, I would convert the office on the lower deck into a children's room," he said.

The former Stanford professor tried to sell her at various points — listing her for $95 million in 2012 , $69 million in 2016, and $59 million in 2017 — but she has yet to change hands.

Larry Ellison: Musashi

Oracle founder Larry Ellison has owned several superyachts over the years, including the Katana, the Ronin, and the Rising Sun — which he sold to fellow billionaire David Geffen .

He purchased his current boat, Musashi, in 2011 for a reported $160 million from custom-yacht giant Feadship.

Named after a famous samurai warrior, the 88-meter-long yacht has both Japanese and Art Deco-inspired design elements. She also boasts amenities including an elevator, swimming pool, beauty salon, gym, and basketball court.

Ellison is known for his extravagant spending — private islands, jets, a tennis tournament — and yachting is among his favorite and most expensive hobbies. He took up racing them in the 1990s and financed the America's Cup-winning BMW Oracle Racing team .

Laurene Powell Jobs: Venus

Steve Jobs' wife, investor and philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs, inherited a nearly finished 78-meter yacht named Venus when the Apple cofounder died in 2011.

After spending years vacationing on Ellison's yachts, Jobs wanted one for himself. He designed Venus with French starchitect and decorator Philippe Starck , and she was worth $130 million at completion.

"Venus comes from the philosophy of minimum," Starck said of her design. "The elegance of the minimum, approaching dematerialization."

Jobs and Starck began working together in 2007, the designer told Vanity Fair , and held monthly meetings over four years. Venus was delivered in 2012 to Jobs' specification: six identical cabins, a design to ensure spaces of absolute silence, and the most up-to-date technology.

"There will never again be a boat of that quality again. Because never again will two madmen come together to accomplish such a task," Starck told the magazine. "It was not a yacht that Steve and I were constructing, we were embarked on a philosophical action, implemented according to a quasi-religious process. We formed a single brain with four lobes."

Charles Simonyi: Norn

Early Microsoft employee Charles Simonyi has purchased two megayachts from the German shipyard Lürssen: the 90-meter Norn and 71-meter Skat.

Delivered in 2023, Norn is full of luxe features, including an outdoor cinema and a pool floor that lifts to become a light-up dancefloor. She shares a militaristic style with Skat , which Simonyi sold in 2021.

Skats's name is derived from the Danish word for treasure, and she had a listing price of 56.5 million euros and was launched in 2002.

"The yacht is to be home away from my home in Seattle, and its style should match the style of the house, adapted for the practicalities of the sea," Simonyi once said .

Sergey Brin: Dragonfly

Google cofounder Sergey Brin has built a flotilla of yachts, boats, and toys known as the "Fly Fleet."

Named after a once-secret Google product , the largest of Brin's armada is the sleek Dragonfly , which boasts a movie theater and a helipad. The 73-meter-long vessel was built by the Australian shipyard Silver Yachts and can fit up to 18 guests and 16 crew members, according to SuperYacht Times.

Also in his fleet is the superyacht Butterfly, a mere 38 meters long. Often moored in the Bay Area, her crewmembers spend their downtime kitesurfing and giving swimming lessons to local kids.

The rest of his marine lineup includes a smaller boat called Firefly, as well as Jet Skis, foilboards, dinghies, and kiteboards. She takes a team of 50 full-time employees to manage, steer, and maintain the entire operation.
