The sailing season is now upon us, and all our Berthon offices are buzzing with activity.

The Palma International Boat Show, as always, was a fabulous event. We showcased the Classic Hoek 82 SWEET EMOTION and the Y8 PEREGRIN at the Palma Superyacht Village. The show offered a unique opportunity to engage with fellow industry professionals, yacht owners, and buyers at the heart of the Mediterranean’s yachting scene. Come rain or shine, Palma always provides a vibrant atmosphere and a stunning backdrop for this unmissable boat show.

Team Berthon Solaris, Alan McIlroy, and Richard Baldwin are spending lots of time at the Solaris shipyard in Aquileia, working with prospective Solaris owners. The yard is a busy and exciting place with new yachts under construction and commissioning. They have also been busy with Berthon Solaris owners taking delivery of their new Solaris yachts ahead of the summer. Of course, the Solaris Days & Solaris Cup event is now imminent and will take place from May 23rd to 26th in Porto Rotonda, Sardinia. Ahead of the Solaris Regattas scheduled for the weekend, prospective Solaris yacht owners are welcomed to Porto Rotonda to preview the fleet and to participate in sea trials and training sessions. SHINE has been cherished by her current owner, who has spent €600k on some important upgrades to her specification. In our latest blog, he tells us more about her enhancements and his time aboard.

World Cruising Club ARC Bluewater Open Days Go International! | If you are thinking about taking part in an ARC Rally, these open days are seriously useful events. The yearly Open Day hosted by Berthon at our Lymington HQ is scheduled for Saturday, 22nd of June, and registration is now open. For the first time this year, two more Open Days are planned: one on Sunday, 19th May, in Annapolis, USA, and another on Saturday, 15th June, in Stockholm, Sweden.

Discovery 55, COOL CAT – Her Transatlantic Voyage Home | Now positioned at our Lymington HQ to find new owners, her captain and crew have shared with us their experience and some lovely images of her voyage back from Grenada in the Caribbean. Encountering a significant storm on the approach to the Azores, this well-equipped Discovery 55 demonstrated her exceptional capabilities as a bluewater cruising yacht. COOL CAT underwent an extensive refit from 2020 to 2022 and has been meticulously maintained ever since. She is ready for more new owners and more cruising.

After several months of looking and two failed surveys, I have just completed the purchase of my first boat, a Jeanneau Merry Fisher 795. As a newcomer to boating I have to admit my first impression of boat brokers was pretty poor (compared to other industries I deal with) - descriptions were definitely on the optimistic side, boats were untidy, dirty and generally poorly presented. No excuses, just very poor sales and I would be careful who to list my boat with in the future. Then I came across Ancasta (Leo Walters) who shone bright like a beacon. The description of the boat was accurate, minor faults highlighted and extra pictures provided on request. Communications with Ancasta have been excellent, the boat was very well presented for inspection and after sales Ancasta remained interested to ensure my experience was positive. I wouldn't hesitate going to Ancasta for another purchase and if you are thinking of selling a boat, consider using Ancasta, you will get better service and value for money than many other brokers out there. And as a buying customer I would feel confident buying through them so you would be more likely to sell to me!

I thought that I would drop you a line to say how very pleased we were with the help and support we got from Kostas and Josiane in Ancasta Badalona. We always felt that they were working for us, not just to make a sale. In particular Kostas was able to help and advise on some of the little touches to make Ione look a little better for sale – replacing a rusty heads jubilee clip, acid cleaning around some seacocks etc. In addition he went well beyond the call of duty in taking me to his chiropractor when I wrecked my back cleaning in lockers! We are now mourning being boatless for the first time in over 40 years. Best wishes.

Superyacht Nice N' Easy for sale at International Yacht Collection

An interesting piece of news comes from Mark Elliott at International Yacht Collection as he signs the 47.9m motor yacht Nice N' Easy for sale.

Nice N' Easy was built by Christensen to ABS class in 2005 and refitted in 2009. MCA compliant, this superyacht accommodates up to 12 guests in a master, VIP, two double and two twin cabins plus two Pullman berths in an interior designed by Carol Williamson.

Nice N Easy has a comfortable secluded area for everyone aboard. Aside from the obvious spa getaway or just retiring to the first class accommodation to read a book or watch a movie, there are many areas to escape and relax. Twin 1800hp MTU engines give her a cruising speed of 12 knots and a range of 4,500 nautical miles at 9 knots.
