EXTERIOR The exterior offers a unique layout to deliver space that is ideal for any charter group. The sun deck presents guests with a flexible set of sun pads aft which can be set up as sunbeds or sofas. Forward on this deck is a semi open dining and lounge with louvre roof and full width glass doors, which can feel like outdoors or indoors.

The main deck aft is a delightful al fresco dining area with stunning contemporary furnishings at the 10-seater table. From the deck you can access the main salon through glass doors and the lower deck beach club. The foredeck is very spacious with sun pads and flexible table/chairs.

The unique beach club has a fold out balcony on both sides which help create an unrivalled sociable space. Sun pads, comfortable deck furniture and water side steps are fabulous, and the deck leads into the interior area of the beach club.

ANOTHER ONE Specifications

INTERIOR The semi open sky lounge is a sociable space with a dining area, bar and forward helm station. The main salon is beautifully decorated with a blend of grey muted tones and herringbone wood floor with accents of soft blue, conceived by Lissoni Assoicati. The panoramic windows flood the space with light and give guests the opportunity to savour the views from anywhere. The open-plan main deck has a family-style galley and dining area forward, day head to starboard with side deck access, a spacious main saloon aft and sliding glass doors leading out to the aft deck lounge. The central staircase is an architectural work of art that seamlessly connects all three decks.

The main deck also plays host to the master suite while the additional accommodation is on the lower deck.

Accommodation for nine guests can be found on the lower deck including the owner's suite, two double cabins, and a twin cabin. All the cabins benefit from the luxury and privacy of ensuite bathroom facilities, and the master also has a walk in wardrobe, double vanity and direct access to the beach club.

My Life in Boats: On board 34m Sanlorenzo Another One with owner Simone Sestito

The Places founder tells Grace Trofa he isn’t afraid of hard work, but loves to relax in his beach club.

"I am the founder and CEO of Places. We host parties at major events and our club members have access to a yacht fleet that includes a Sanlorenzo SX76, an SX112 and an 18-metre Midnight Express. We ordered the SX112, Another One , shortly after buying the SX76 in 2020. While we waited for it, we were able to use Almax (a sistership) for a week in the Exumas and two weeks along the Amalfi Coast. It gave us a chance to see what layout would work for us. Ponza was probably one of my favourite spots, with its white cliffs and clear water, especially since I like to go Seabobing and snorkelling.

"It’s hard to say what my favourite cruising ground is, but I think the Exumas are a magical place. Staniel Cay has these cool underwater caves, but we had a scary moment. The captain took eight of us out to snorkel in the caves. It was beautiful, with the light shining through and all the tropical fish. When it was time to leave, my business partner Qarim and I decided to go first. The current was strong, and we wanted to make sure everyone would be able to hold their breath long enough to reach the exit. We got out but decided to go back in and warn them. After talking to everyone I looked around but could not find Qarim. Everyone panicked. I jumped on the jet ski and found him hanging  on rocks on the other side of the island. He had taken a different tunnel and had to hold his breath for what felt like the length of a football field.

" St Barths on New Year’s Eve was amazing. We were anchored next to the Feadship Moonrise , which I stared at the whole time. My next yacht will be a Feadship, a mini version of Moonrise . The UNICEF gala was incredible and so was the after-party on board Vava .

"I have two children: Gianluca, who is three; and Fabiano, who is one. They love being on board and call after me, “Papi, papi, boat.” My favourite feature is the beach club. You wake up in the morning, walk out the back and you are basically sitting on the water. The gym is set up and everything is laid out for you, all the toys. You can have a juice from the juice bar and just hop on the bike. We have a chef kitchen in the main saloon so when we catch a fish the chef can prepare it right in front of us.

"I am a calculated risk-taker. No risk, no reward, that’s what they taught me growing up. My childhood was between Italy and Toronto. My parents were school teachers, but I always worked hard and always had a passion for luxurious things. Remember Publishers Clearing House? I was the kid filling out those forms thinking I was going to win a car. In the early days of Covid-19, when everyone was dumping assets, I was buying things like our Falcon 900EX EASy II. I invested in technology and made my own platform. We find there has been a major shift in wealth, especially in the crypto community. Our club started with artists and musicians; now we have clients who want to hang out with the artists; it’s become a community.

If we’ve learned anything from the pandemic it’s to live your life now, as tomorrow is not promised."

After Orcas Sink Another Yacht, Researcher Says They're Probably Just Playing

F ollowing news of the latest boat sunk by orcas in the waters near the Strait of Gibraltar, a killer whale researcher is warning that the incidents may be misunderstood.

News outlets ( including HuffPost ) have used the word “attack” to describe a spate of events in which orcas have damaged vessels in the waters around Morocco, Portugal and Spain. But Monika Wieland Shields, co-founder and director of the nonprofit Orca Behavior Institute, argued the term is misleading in an MSNBC opinion piece published Thursday.

“When I watch the videos of these so-called attacks, I see something completely different,” Shields wrote.

Rather than an act of aggression, “it looks like another behavior we often see killer whales engage in: play.”

On Tuesday, a group of orcas slammed into the hull and damaged the rudder of a 50-foot sailing yacht off the coast of Morocco. The people aboard were rescued and the vessel was left to sink. It was the fifth time orcas have sunk a boat in the region in recent years, The New York Times reported . There have been dozens of other incidents of damage, though no human deaths.

Shields said “from the whale’s perspective,” it makes sense that they often go after rudders.

“Rudders move and, when humans try to regain steering control, show resistance,” she wrote. “It’s probably more like a game of tug-of-war than a maliciously motivated attack.”

Orcas are highly intelligent and social animals, which means they have “a unique capacity for amusement and playfulness,” she wrote. It also means that new behaviors and fads spread easily among social groups. For example, during a brief in a period in the late 1980s, many orcas near Washington state began wearing dead salmon on their heads , like hats.

Shields’ view is in line with what other orca experts have theorized.

“What I think is probably happening is it’s a playful behavior,” Dr. Deborah Giles, science director at research and advocacy group Wild Orca, said last year . “It’s a social behavior.”

However, one non-playful possibility has gone particularly viral . Biologist Alfredo López Fernandez suggested in a 2022 paper that it all may have started after a female orca known as “White Gladis”  had a traumatic encounter with a boat, then began to act in a defensive manner towards other boats.

That theory helped fuel online support for “team orca,” with many people on social media casting the killer whales as revolutionaries fighting back against human destruction of the natural world.

While Shields doesn’t buy the White Gladis theory, she thinks it’s worth examining why people find the idea of an orca uprising so compelling.

“We recognize that we have done enough to the world to deserve orcas attacking us in response,” she wrote.

The windy Russian autumn weather might be a little bit tricky for sailing, but it doesn’t stop brave yachtsmen from all over the world from flocking to Russian capital in the beginning of September when the Moscow Yacht Show commences. The main Russian Yacht exhibition gathers professional and amateur yacht lovers together under the wing of The Royal Yacht Club.

This year it took place for a fourth time already. The exhibition is considered the principal event on the sporting and social calendar. The Moscow Yacht Show 2010 united in one area three of the largest Russian yachts distributors: Ultramarine, Nordmarine and Premium Yachts.

A wide range of yachts were on display for a week. An exhibition showcased yachts both from Russian manufacturers and world famous brands: Azimut, Princess, Ferretti, Pershing, Riviera, Doral, Linssen, etc.

It was a real feast for seafarers as visitors of the show had a unique chance not only to take a look at the newest superyachts before they hit the market, but also to evaluate their driving advantages during the test drive. The show provided an excellent opportunity for yacht enthusiasts to choose and buy a new boat for the next season.

The event started with the grandiose gala evening. It included grand dinner, the concert and professional awards ceremony for achievements in Russian yachting industry. The guests also enjoyed the annual regatta.

Special guest Paolo Vitelli, Azimut Benetti Group president, opened the evening.

Next year organizers assured guests they would bring more yachts, the scale of which will even make oligarch Roman Abramovich envious. Sounds very promising indeed.
